Innocuous YA suspense.

I may be slightly biased as I originally read this when I was about 11 or 12 and it seemed like the utmost suspense at that age. I hadn't yet read any real suspense or mysteries or I might have judged it more harshly as the end is rather predictable and, really, so is most of the book.

However, the characters are well drawn and interesting, the setting is perfect for a suspense book, and the ending *is* satisfying despite it's predictability.

I often reread this one because it feels like an old friend so I probably would recommend it but only if you haven't read much suspense or if you're looking for a decent beach read.
