Trapped by Venass. Tormented by the Forgotten. And both desire the very ability that allowed his escape.
Chased through the city by someone able to influence his Sliding, Rsiran and his friends prepare for the next attack, uncertain whether the Forgotten or Venass will move first.
When Rsiran learns that his sister was abducted, he must decide whether to help a family that abandoned him. If he does not, Alyse might suffer a fate worse than any torment he has already endured.
Finding answers leads him to discover a secret about his family, and himself, that changes everything that he believes, making him question who - and what - to support.
But good regardless. It took up until 70% in this one to get somewhere interesting with all of the usual suspects, but it finally got quite good. Just felt a bit rushed for everything that happened. Also, slightly meh toward the end when we learn more about our hero, from people would could have clearly said more way before this volume. I understand the secrecy and all that, but there should be a limit with using it after every "arc" resolution...
i like it and want to know whats up with his dad, but i can't stand Rsiran relationship with jess, its so clingy, i hope she dies and he goes on a sweet killing spree
I really enjoyed this book. Holmberg's books are like comfort reads for me. They're fun and fast-paced, and I enjoy spending time with the characters. This one had quite a few revelations toward the end, too.
An ability that is desired by two warring factions. His family now becomes a target. Navigating through the secrets & deception that hide a dangerous truth.
This series has been lights out. Great cloak & dagger intrigue, action & dynamite characters.

This series is full of excitement, adventure, trills, suprises and mystery! Be warned: you will not be able to put it down. Grabs you and you there for a ride through the well thought out story and great characters that you will fall in love with. Great writing! Great Reading Everyone! Update: I read this series again, I love it even more. I read a book a day pretty much and I enjoyed them together (meaning one after another). You will enjoy these.
Rsiran's power and mastery with it grows. When his sister is taken it's time to choose a side. Forgotten, Elvraith or Venass, Rsiran can no longer face enemies on all sides. When he finally makes a decision he will have to take the fight to the enemy. Pieces are coming together in Rsiran's story. Background starting to fill in and his choices are becoming important. Holmberg has bringing the series to an end of the current story arc, which is not to say that more important items are not going to still need solutions. By far the best so far in the series
The books in this series have been bad, fun but bad. This book broke me though. The repetition of plot elements and character interaction hit a breaking point for me with this book as well as the dropped and ignored plot holes. I don't believe I will ever finish the series which is a shame because I'm still curious what some of the explanations are. That said I don't trust the author at this point to make a satisfactory or conclusive ending and so will never know
Book 4 was a fun read and had a few errors. The plot and characters have developed well overall. The characters are always complaining or saying they are inadequate for this and that, but then persevere in the end. This almost ruins the overall take away from the story. Also, the back and forth with all the questions asked and not answered gives the story a very slow perspective. I have enjoyed most of the book thus far.
Rsiran is no longer sure which group is coming after him and if can trust anyone in any of them. his sister has been taken and he is sure that this is something to do with Vaness. or the Forgotten. or both. but he must be stronger than he is now or risk all his friends. the knowledge he has must be protected
Twists, turns and surprises abound in this book in the series. Grammatical mistakes and typos somewhat detract from the enjoyment of the story. I have invested enough time in the story that I will continue with the next book in the series. It is a good story line and interesting.
Wicked finish to a good read . I honestly could not put this one down ,all the twists and how they come together is neat. Read on as I will with the next segment.
It's been an ok run, but, this series has lost its fire. Each book he ads another ability and another race that hates the main character. Fun for the first couple books but I'm all set for this series.
For the fourth book in a series, this book was better than most. Again the characters were were definitely each their own person. Th excitement continued with ongoing occurance.
I started to loose a bit of interest as the plot was moving slower than I expected, but it definitely picked up at the end, and left on quite the little cliff hanger. I'll get back to this series, just not sure when
Blood of the Watched 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Great reading I recommend these books for young teens and adults alike! D.K.Bloomberg has a number of books in this world that he has created and you will find crossovers of characters from other books.
If it wasn't for the constant repetition in the narrative I feel that this would be an excellent series. However, it's interesting and imaginative enough to keep me reading on.
Another terrific book in this tale centering around the main character Drisin & his girl Jessa. The best part is how the author continues to expand on the story & the characters continue to grow & become more complex
It was a fun adventure. I really can't wait to see what happens on the next one. Rsiran is still too much in his head though, and the book could use a little editing, but they get better as the story progresses (or I'm just getting used to the constand self-doubt from the MC).
