When you read a book with same feelings, as in the book, at the moment....you can never rate the book objectively. Love triangle, fighting your feelings, drama, a bad guy trying to separate lovers and friends who try to keep them together.... *sighs* Why did I read this? To make my feelings bleed harder.

"For the first time in a while. Tears are even coming out by themselves."
"Isn't that just saying you're in love already?"
"I'll give up loving you."
"I guess the one who falls in love first, loses the game."

Childhood trauma strikes again and here we are. Though it's cute I'm less enthused about the mystery behind Okami's life.

Best volume yet I think!

Not even sure what to say except I feel I read too fast but I honestly could not put this volume down. Read it in one sitting and had to remind myself to slow down on more then one occasion. LOL!

First off, I'm DEEPLY glad that Rin and Kogumi did NOT become a thing. Another point for our main girl! I loved her boldness and just that she wanted to work through her feelings by not entering a relationship (especially with someone she did not have romantic feelings for), but work through them elsewhere. I think that really spoke a lot about her character (especially when we saw in the previous volume that she did not want to just receive physical things like kisses and hugs from Yū, but something that went deeper and expressed the inner heart).

There IS a turn of events here! Not just because as the blurb suggests that Yū is struggling to confront is emotional trauma, but because there are some…THINGS that come out in the open. In multiple situations actually and some were good and some were "bad."

Since some absolute positive things DID happen as it got closer to the end, I don't feel quite as nervous concerning what will happen next? Maybe? Sensei's aura though is quite beasty. *nervous laughter*

Let's hope the ship sails safely, yes?

Dangers of the Friend Zone

Komugi decided to stick with her plan to only be friends with Yū and the other boys but it is not easy with Yū being as socially awkward as he is while still wanting Komugi to be close. Worse yet Rin has his own feelings for Komugi to deal with as Yū has to learn to deal with his abandonment issues or possibly lose Komugi once and for all.

This continues to be an excellent story not needing fanservice to draw the reader into its world (not even in the seemingly mandatory bath/shower scenes of manga.) The truth of her resistance to hypnotism is revealed as the various characters involved in the story are manipulated by the very stern Kurō-Sensei who finds the new human girl in the boys' group to be more hinderance than beneficial as he does what he must to protect the future he has already prepared for them.

3,5 stars but I'm rounding it up because Oogami finally came to his senses in regard of his feelings, and because Fushimi mostly dropped his grr-i-hate-you act. However, this was my least favourite volume so far. I still liked it though, don't get me wrong.

But the reason I think this was the weakest volume, is that it made me think how Fushimi's actions feel kinda all over the place... Yeah, he's just classically overprotective, bad at expressing himself and kinda prejudiced (against humans). But even though his kind of characters usually go through the "melting", his isn't explained very well. And he's mighty contradicting, first so hard trying to keep Komugi and Oogami apart and now suddenly telling Oogami to get over it and pursue Komugi! And so far, we don't know why... Yeah, suddenly *he* is the mess. Hmm!

Komugi is confused most of the time and can't blame her. I applaud her cool because the boys surely are giving mixed messages. And when finally things start to clear, that suspicious teacher comes to mess up things again! What's his deal?? I'm curious.

So, this series isn't trying to invent the wheel again but it's still nice little drama. I like Komugi and the boys. Awaji was MVP of this volume, I've thought he's too carefree and nosy but here he actually was usually the saviour of the tense situations and for that I liked him a lot here. Senri, the cat boy, so far has just... been there, I wonder if he'll have any other role than a decoration... I like Oogami, he's sweet, but in this volume he was overshadowed by everybody else (except Senri).

Nogiri's line is really thin but mostly art looks just fine. Komugi seemed to have the same expression throughout this volume though; yeah, she was confused most of the time but that was something I took notice of as I was reading.

I'm looking forward to the final volume!

Apparently this series wraps up in the next volume, which...I really like Fushimi? I liked that he and Komugi built a friendship that was based on learning to understand how the other one is. I don't know if I'd like to see them together, but I'm a little bit eh about the predictable turn (since Ogami is obviously the male main here).

Also Yata-sensei is hella creepy. He's a bit like if Shigure and Akito (from Fruits Basket) had a kid who inherited Hatori's powers. I love him, but he's hella creepy. I didn't see the ending coming, though I really do understand his motivation.

So I guess we will see how this ends. Based on some spoiler comments I saw on the final volume when it was released in Japan it looks like things get a bit rushed feeling. Its honestly been so long since I've read a series that ended before at least volume 5 that I'm curious to see if I still enjoy it as much on a re-read later this year.

I love the art here, but the characters lack serious motivation to make the plot feasible. I see absolutely no reason the two main characters should be "in love" and why the author has to throw in so many meh obstacles to keep the stories going. I thought going into this that this would be a homage to Fruits Basket that I actually liked (because I have pretty concrete reasons to dislike Fruits Basket, but the premise was always a good one), but I was wrong. I'll read volume 4, because this is an overall short series, but if you are looking for a cutesy, shoujo-style high school romance, try the mangaka's other manga Love in Focus.

Cliche, again. Nothing with the pacing has been resolved. The plot still flies and lags all over the place. Mentor character has unexpected plot twist character change but also doesn't--poorly done and not compelling in the slightest. None of the characters have any depth.

………!!!!!!!!
^my brain after finishing that volume.
I had a brief, shocking moment while reading this where I thought, “this is even better than fruits basket.” but I redacted that thought immediately, because it’s going to have to whip out a lot more to replace fruits basket in my heart. but the fact that I even had that momentary thought says a lot about the quality of this story. it is SO. GOOD. I literally had moments where I had to pause and just shake my head in astonishment at how good it is. if this is just volume 3, I’m ecstatic to see what’s coming. because I’m familiar with the tropes and the way some mangas do things, where they do an info dump on you and you think they’re telling you the whole story super early on but then you realize there were actually SO many other strings attached and pieces to the puzzle that you don’t get until much later, and I’m just sitting here trying to predict it all in my head but it’s impossible to. Yoko Nogiri is a phenomenal author. and her pace of revealing things is perfect. perfect, yet simultaneously infuriating, similar to fruits basket.
I am really excited to see how Nogiri handles this new love triangle, though. because already, the dynamics are very different from fruits basket, which I love. but I need to remember that Yu and Rin don’t hate each other, that’s Yuki and Kyo! Yu is so similar yet so different from Kyo and it’s been so fun comparing them. and I’m conflicted about the triangle myself, because Nogiri has actually set it up in a way that I love and hate aspects of both options.
but none of that matters now because KOMUGI CANT REMEMBER ANYTHING!!! I’m just excited to see all the boys flipping out in the next volume. and honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if Aoshi was in on it and tipped off Yata. that sneaky little tanuki… but it’ll work out right? …right?
anyways, that’s all I have for now. on to the next!

I love drama. I wish the love triangle stayed a little longer, but I'll take selfish Sensei driving them apart.

Recap: Some time passes, study session, she goes see her mom and finds out she was there as a kid, Sensei tries to drive her away more, Ogami realizes he doesn't want her to go, Rin supports him and puts his feelings for her after his love for ogami. Ends with Sensei hypnotizing her again at the end.

This was my least favorite volume so far. A lot of the things that happened were pretty boring and felt inconsequential, kind of like filler, which is weird to have in such a short series. I liked the cliffhanger ending, so maybe the last volume will be better? I hope so.

More of a 3.5 star rating;
I wasn’t expecting that kind of a reveal and have mixed emotions about the boys’ sensei. I know that he possibly has good intentions, but he’s going about it in a very extreme (and somewhat yandere) manner.

Triggers: child abandonment (shown), forced memory loss, adult picking on/threatening a teen

The plot
Komugi tries to force herself not to love Yu while he's obviously in love with her. Meanwhile, Rin asks Komugi to go out with him. The group ends up studying with the man who helped them learn how to transform, Yata, who is a raven. Yata threatens Komugi and tells her to leave, but the guys figure out what he did and try to stop him. Komugi figures out a detail from the last book but is interrupted by Yata. All this right after Yu's confession! So much drama.

The characters
Komugi is trying to get on with life after being in love with and turned down by Yu. She holds it together pretty well, but I'm not sure why she turned down Rin's proposal (not the marrying kind). She works hard and figures out some key information the group is missing.
Yu finally confesses to Rin why he can't be with Komugi, and Rin, being the good wingman that he is, tells him to grow up.
Rin, poor guy. My heart aches for this one. I love seeing the "bad boy" go soft for a girl. I figure she wouldn't go for him, though. Sigh.
Aoshi is a pain in the butt and kind of tattles on everyone to Yata, but at least he tells the other guys what Yata's plan is so they can stop him.
Senri doesn't get a lot of paper time in this one.

The romance
While Komugi explains to Rin how she fell in love with him, I can't help but compare the fact that Rin has done a lot of little things for her too. I guess Yu just got to her first and since Rin started out as kind of a jerk that ruined his chances. No redemption ark for him. I was glad to see Yu finally say something to Komugi but man, this love triangle sucks.

It was a good read, like the first two books, and I can't wait to see what happens to Komugi in the next book. Will the boys stand up to their sensai for her or will she "defeat" him on her own?

Today's post is on That Wolf-Boy is Mine!, volume 3 by Yoko Nogiri. It is 176 pages long and is published by Kodansha Comics. The cover has Aoshi the tanuki on it. As it is the third volume you need to have read the first two volumes to understand the story. There is no foul language, no sex, and no violence in this manga. The story is told from third person close of the two main characters. There Be Spoilers Ahead.

From the back of the book- Just Friends.
After Rin shares profound insights with Komugi about her crush, she learns it's easier to bottle up her feeligns for the wolf-boy, Yu. As Komugi gets to really know Rin the fox, hos cold exterior slowly melts away- and Yu can't help but be concerned. In order to let someone new into his heart, Yu struggles to confront his emotional trauma fro the past. but by the time Yu realizes his true emotions, somethings unthinkable has happened to Komugi...

Review- More drama in this volume with Komugi being confronted by the boys teacher who wants her to go away. She is causing trouble without meaning to and he wants to make things go back to the way they were before. Komugi does have the chance to leave but she wants to stay when she discovers that she and Yu met when they were children. So the answers to the future are in the past and Yu must deal with his past in order to move forward. But drama at the end with Komugi losing her memories and what is Yu gong to do now? This volume is all about plot with some character growth. With one more volume I am curious about how everything is going to end up.

I give this volume a Four out of Five stars. I get nothing for my review and I bought this manga with my own money.

Oh my Lord, in heaven! That cliffhanger was really mean, like if I didn’t have the fourth volume already I would be screaming like a mad woman to the closest bookstore to buy it. If you can’t tell, the drama has really shot up in this volume and particularly near the end of it when a lot more of the plot is revealed. And the drama is getting so intense, but not in an uncomfortable way. Instead, I feel more like I’m about to fall out of my seat from sitting to close to the edge. I don’t normally like love triangles, mostly because they’re never done properly, but I really like how the love triangle is being used in this story. Unfortunately, I think the couple that I prefer isn’t going to happen….sigh, oh well!

Anyways, I feel like Komugi has come more to life in this volume but I still don’t think of her as a very present character. It’s really weird, I like her but I feel she’s still a bit watered down compared to the other characters in the story. Sometimes I feel like her two best friends have more of a presence than she does, but I digress.

The comedy, like before was good for a few chuckles in between some really heavy drama. Aoshi, the tanuki, is probably my favorite character because he’s the comic relief and such an instigator of a lot of the drama. Well, if you’d please excuse me, I have to devour the next volume before I die from that cliffhanger. Seriously, though if you haven’t read this volume yet buy it with volume four or you will regret it!!!

sooooo much tensionnn!! I love how Rin tried to slide in and make his move so smoothly. thank god bc Yu was pissing me off with that swishy back and forth no backbone crap. i thought it was sweet when Rin gave up his pursuit for Kumogi so that Yu could win her back. How he loves Yu even more and wants whats best for him and knows that a friendship with Kumogi is whats best even if its not his first choice. It reminds me of Fruits Basket and also Ouran a little bit!! Yuki giving up those romantic feelings for Tohru and deciding being friends is best bc Kyo loves her more and the relationship is more important and vital to him. I like this trope bc it shows how that platonic relationships are just as important as romantic ones. Crazy that Yu and Kumogi met so long before and didn't know!! I love how meddlesome Aoshi is but how he never lies, he says exactly what he told someone or did so there really isn't a reason to get mad or hate him. I am also guessing that her memory did end up getting erased at the end, lets see!

This series just keeps getting better and better and I know some people were saying it feels a bit rushed but, it makes sense because it is only 4 volumes long.
If Imma be honest… I don’t even know where to begin! I feel like so much happened in this volume and I can’t handle it all!
First of all Rin can absolutely be my new love haha (don’t worry, my fiancé totally understands!) but I could go on and on about my love for Rin Fushimi.
I really enjoyed learning more about Yū Ōgami’s mom and seeing how everything was connected… that being said, I do hope the next volume clears some stuff up about all that.
Now to the real stuff! It’s about time Yū Ōgami got his head out of his ass and told Komugi how he felt! And of course when he finally does it, Kurō Yata decides that’s a great time to ruin everyone’s life and cause me all the stress and anxiety!
Volume 4 better fix everything! Or else I’m going to have to fight someone!

Summary: The main character is a girl named Oogami. She moves to Hokaiddo from Tokyo because her mom is moving somewhere for work for a year. Oogami is sent to live with her father whom she didn't see for 8 years because of divorce. In her new school she meets a group of 4 popular boys. She soon befriends one of them named Yuu, who is later revealed to be a half-wolf. His friends are also animals like raccoon, fox, and cat with two tails. So that us the story.

Review: I read the whole series in one sitting. It just popped up in my phone after I finished reading another manga on my Mangarock app. I thought that it was fun to read and I enjoyed it. It wasn't the best thing or the worst. I just wished it had more to give. The series was just too short.
Drawing: I loved the drawing style. 5 stars.
Plot: 4 stars
Characters: 3.5 stars (more improvement could be done)
