Ransom #5

Rescue

Rate this book
The fifth book in the bestselling Ransom series!

Lennon can’t remember what it feels like to be happy. He might be one of the famous Ransome brothers, the bassist for the hottest rock group in the country, but fame and fortune can’t fix this. There are nightmares he doesn’t understand. Memories he can’t explain. And always, always the unshakable sense that he’s made a terrible mistake. A mistake that changed the course of his family’s lives forever. His brothers don’t know how to help him. His father doesn’t know how to help him. And he certainly doesn’t know how to help himself.

Then he meets Haylee Hunt, the lead singer of Ransom’s opening band. And just like in the best love songs, everything changes. With Haylee, Lennon doesn’t have to feel so afraid all the time. The guilt that haunts him seems to fade, just a little. Because Haylee, somehow, seems to understand exactly how it feels to be broken.

But the hazy memories refuse to fade away. The nightmares are getting clearer. And even Haylee won’t be able to help him when the past finally crashes back into his life.

Broken, ravaged, emo...Lennon.

"Lennon isn't just sad. He's broken."

He's the quiet brother. The introspective one. The one no one notices while he notices everything.

We learn about all the sadness and problems Lennon has in book 5. This book is the continuation of his story, his love story with Hayley, and his path to finding peace.

This one could crush you. It's not light. It's not just rockstar romance. This one is childhood trauma at is worst, loss, heartbreak, distrust, drug and alcohol addiction, pain, self harm, and the cost of the secrets we keep and those that are kept from us.

Lennon's path is not an easy one and the woman that captures his heart has been through the wringer too. There are times they both feel they are too broken to hold the other up. They feel they will be each others downfall instead of each others redemption.

"How can we help each other when we're both so broken?"

The tightknit Ransome family may just finally fall apart. And Lennon...you will wish you could stare into his eyes and wrap him up in a hug.

"Beautiful and full of light? That doesn't sound like it describes me, Paige."
"It describes your heart."

I had tears running down my face for half of this book. Really emotional, but not melodramatic. I'd been so waiting for Lennon's story and this didn't disappoint.

I have been looking forward to this book for a long time. I knew Lennon's story would be wonderful, and Rachel did not disappoint. Hayley was a perfect fit for Lennon. I loved the book. I hope there will be some more books in this series. I'm still waiting on Sam's friend Penny, Will, Layla, etc. to get their own stories, too! :) I received this ARC for an honest review. However, I would have purchased the book immediately upon its release anyway because I've read & loved everything by Rachel Schurig so far.

Wow!!! This book is a true joy. It is definitely the least like the others. Lennon is such a wonderful person and my heart breaks every time something happens to him. Hailey!! I love her so much. She is such a strong character. Her abs Lennon are absolutely right for each other.
All in all, perfection! Like Lennon said, “she had all of her uncles wrapped around her little finger.” (That was paraphrasing so don’t judge if I got it wrong lol)
Happy reading!! 💕✨

Ps: Rose is such a sweetheart and if you haven’t yet, go read the family series!!

bit darker than the others but just as good once you get into it.

I have loved all these book, was looking forward to reading Lennons book. It took me quiet a while to get into. It’s darker than the other. Sadder, it took me a bit longer to read than others, but I stuck with it. Had some tears and smiles. Glad I pushed through and carried on. It was kind of good to read a book where not everyone had their shit together.

I loved that the characters falling in love did not erase their problems. Love is not a magical fix for things. They acknowledged their problems and being together means they have to rely on that they trust to have their back. They each a little better.
I loved Haley and Lennon, they are real and you can easily connect with them.

Great Emotion

I enjoy the Random books. Rachel Schurig writes real characters with so much emotion. There are so many aspects of the books that make them great. Start at the beginning and enjoy.

Rescue does deal with issues that might trigger some people: attempted suicide, drugs, drunkenness, depression. The author handles these issues well but be aware they are there.

I have totally enjoyed this series but there was something special about Lennon from the beginning. I have to say that the stories and the twists and turns have kept me reading albeit my preference in this genre is more spice this is well written enough to keep me reading. If you are looking for spice it is lacking but the backstory is worth it in the end. Grab your tissue box for this one

Great Series

So glad Haylee and Lennon found each other and they both can work thru issues they've had in past and present. Great characters and storyline in all these books. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

Oh god, where do u start with this? I loved Lennon's story. It was so sad and heartbreaking at times for both Lennon and Haylee! You could see that all his family was worried about him but they were suffocating him too. He has kept having these dreams but couldn't understand why they left him feeling the way he did, guilty, scared and lonely at times.
Haylee sees how broken he is because she has the same look in her eyes too and they don't really realise at first how strong they really are for each other!
When Lennon finally discovers what his dreams really mean all his family are left speechless and angry too. Reed is the most angry but I think he is directing it at the wrong person!
I also love how they all ended up being there for Daisy and Daltrey, when they had their baby and how all of them feel in love with the little baby!
Another part of the book had me in stitches laughing! All I will say is a cemetery and ghosts! It was hilarious! I loved how even though they all hate Paige's planning in the beginning they always come out loving it, every single time. It's like she know what they need even before they know what they need!
I'm also happy that there is going to be another book! Hope it's not going to be a long wait and that all the brothers marry all their other halves and have babies if their own and all live happily ever after!
This has by far been the best book for me. Keep up the brilliant work Rachel Schurig!

This was the book I had been waiting for from the start. Lennon's story has been there in bits and pieces throughout the series so it was nice to see it become the focus.

I liked these two together. They aren't perfect but they work for each other. You could see that innate bond between them and how it could be a strong romance.

I wanted a little more from the ending but it's left that way for the final book so I'm eager to see what happens next.

This book tied some things, it address the family problems around the abandon of their mother, their lack of emotional display and some problems between the relationship of the brothers.

But it left some other issues open. So there will be another book. I liked Lennon sensibility and Haylee's character, her band mates were really fun, much more great than the Ransomes.

In this book Paige is painted to be childish, which annoyed me a lot, and there is not much about the other couples which would have been nice to read.

Wow! I always feel that way when I finish any of the Ransom books! Loved it! I love the look into the music world of rock stars and how many rock stars feel the same way as the Ransom boys do? How many have the same messed up life? Rachel was captured this lifestyle so well in all her books!

I love that in this book when got to see a new band and with a girl led singer! She is nothing but awesome! I loved her! And I love the story with Lennon. It really gave the Ransom family more depth! Loved that they did a European tour! It was nice to see them on tour and how they all handled it and how Haylee handled it as well!

Awesome job as always Rachel and if you have not read her other books, please do you won't be sorry!

I am a big fan of Rachel Schurig and had been looking forward to this book. The story of Lennon and Haylee is so emotional. They both have such serious issues from their past that impact on their present, that you wonder how they are going to make it. Also, it has been fun to read about the places that Paige takes the group to tour. Makes me want to go to many of them myself.

Part of why I like series like this is the continuity of characters and reading more about them. She does a wonderful job of that in all of her series. Make sure to check them out, too.

I received an ARC copy of this book to review it, but I would have bought it anyway.

Another 5 Stars Read by Rachel

OMG! What can I say about Lennon and Haylee's story? Absolute, pure, amazing LOVE!!! Lennon had been my favorite since the beginning so his book I knew would touch me deeply! The pain and emotional struggle that Lennon has had to endure is heartbreaking! Haylee has had her fair share of issues as well. To see them come together and give each other strength was awe inspiring. I laughed and I cried my eyes out! Both happy and gut wrenchingly sad tears. But I am so thrilled that Lennon got his HEA!!!

I have been waiting for Lennon's book forever and was not disappointed. This book had me crying for all he went through and was still going through. To carry such a burden and have your mind block the really bad parts but let just enough in to have you realize something happened.
For him to find someone who could see the sadness and loneliness in him because it was in them too was wonderful. We all look for someone who understands us and gives us that peace and completeness.
This book touched on issues that are difficult to face and many go through, with a gentle and understanding nature.

Couldn't put it down

Rachel Schurig does it again. It was refreshing to have a story focusing on mental health, not something that is always openly talked about. I particularly liked that although Lennon and Haylee get their happy ending, there is still the acknowledgement that their illnesses won't be magically fixed, but that they can still be happy. So pleased there is another book as I wasn't quite ready to say goodbye to the Ransome's just yet.

Loved Those Ransom Boys (Men)

I enjoyed reading about the Ransom Boys Band. I am in awe of Rachel Schurig, who introduced us to the boys & through her books & clever writing transformed them into caring, if somewhat raucous (u can make a boy into a man, but u can never take the boy out of the man) men. Thank you for the great reads, Rachel. Ransom Rocks!

We catch up with all our favorite characters from the previous 4 books. We get Lennon' s story this time. We get to find out the reason why he has been having a hard time. We watch him discover truths, realize he is not alone,to fall in love, and connect more with his brothers.I can't wait until the next installment.

Loved this book. I laughed, cried and wanted to scream at some of the characters. Lennon is such a troubled soul and finding out the reason why made me want to hurt the person that was the cause. I love this entire series. Can't wait for the next book.

idk it was so long ago since I read the other 3 books (I skipped one) and I just don't care anymore. About the characters. The plot. Their feelings.
I think my taste in books is just a little different now.
