Todd Young

Todd Young writes books that sit on the borderline between gay erotica and m/m romance.

Generally, I aim to write erotica that goes a little further than the average. I spend a lot of time on my characters, trying to make them as believable as possible. While my stories are sexual fantasies, I want them to have a deeper meaning, and a quality of unexpectedness. To some extent, I am attempting to write literature, but I want my stories to be genuinely engaging. I want them to be easy to read, while at the same time leaving the reader with the feeling that they have read something meaningful.

I hope both men and women will find my stories satisfying. They revolve around romance, though there is often much more going on in the texts.

Guys, I'm soooo glad that 6 years after Corrupted and 2 years after his last published book Todd Young is BACK!!!

Let us run a small Todd Young's test. If you won't smile reading the lines below(some of my highlights from Owned), or if you you won't get curious, or if you just won't find it unusual, then DON'T read his books.

"He'd kissed his reflection in the steamy bathroom and jacked off after having a shower. He knew it was loneliness when he thought of it now, or he thought it was mostly that, or hat started as that, but he didn't like to think about the fact that the did it, and told himself not to do it again whenever it happened."

***

"That sure felt weird, the idea that his cock was not only okay, but that for Brad, it was suckable.
***

"He took the second beer a little slower, glancing at Pete every now and then, though he was surprised to find he was getting a boner. Not a full one, but something sure was happening. Maybe this was what it was like to be Brad."
***

"So was that good?"
Justin cleared his throat.
"Jus?"
"Yep."
"Huh?"
"Yeah, it was good."
"You don't sound very happy about it."
"Hell, I don't know," Justin said. "I've never really thought about being fucked."

I'm soooo happy that THIS AUTHOR goes his own way and remains true to his CREATIVE style. IN SPITE of EVERYTHING.

Just to let you know: there are only few authors who have their own SHELF on my TBR, and Todd Young is one of them.

NOBODY can write EROTICA so lustful, so unique, so different, so shameful SMUTTY, so stimulated dirty and at the same time so...innocent as Todd Young

It is not a story itself that makes his book to a special reading experience, but his characters.
Honestly, I have no idea how old is Todd Young, but he is for sure older than his characters. Older than 18-20 year or? It is a very common problem in a YA genre: People who write it are mostly older, and you just feel it. You feel in the narrating that a middle age man or woman tries longingly to put her/himself into a teenager' mind-set. Todd Young don't need to PRETEND to be someone. He is THIS someone. His characters are real, they live, they breath on every page. THEY are young and stupid and naive and...romantically over-testosteroned teeny.

I WANT MORE.

I love his writing.

Period.

1 star just for the fact that there were not editing errors...HOWEVER I am hereby swearing off Todd Young books for the rest of my life. These boys...holy shit. I despise Tom -- bullying, self-hating, abusive asshole. Justin is only marginally better than him. Brad...wow, he's been let down by pretty much everyone in his short life. Pete and Jackson -- ick. Just ick. I was almost thinking that Liam might not be too bad, since he obviously decided to call off the wedding, but nope, he's just as bad as Justin, if not Tom. I gotta go take a shower and scrub off some of this nastiness now...or maybe take a bath while I read some of Amy Lane's Johnnies or A.M. Arthur's Us series.

Well, this one was less bad than the previous one, so that's something.
The characters are still ridiculous, and I do believe that Brad is insane. Not in a cute way, simply missing some parts in his brain.

The writing was still fine, and the dialogs moved between being stupid and being refreshing and unique.

The sex was... mediocre, especially when Brad was involved (again, bad character).

I think that this author has a lot of potential, but he should take his story and characters more seriously. All his books have been getting bad reviews, so he should step up his game.

This is definitely better than the first book. The characters are fleshed out a bit more and the situations more believable. And the sex is a lot hotter, too. I ended up caring a lot about Brad and Justin both.

the first book was pretty cool so i was a little disapointed with this one. it was good and all but didn't have the sabe vibe as the first. Maybe what was off was the introduction of Justin as a narrator, i didn't like it.

Sexy romance

I enjoyed this book and hope there will be a 3rd Brad and Justin book. A decent amount of sex and romance

Finally Brad and Justin find each other. Hopefully their partnership becomes that of equals. Another story that includes randy as the third partner for the long term should be written

Love the characters as they love/hage each h other.

Todd Young knows his characters. He artfully blends the developing love emotion with the conflicting hate emotion in short scenes that vibrate with realism as if you are there touching the flesh and feeling the emotions of the key characters. The conflicts are the same as those we deal with daily, but the response we feel weaves our emotions and memories together with those in the story to bring life to the characters. This is not common in any literature, but especially in what is often quickly written by authors paid by the word for short stories found in pornography. These characters bond with each other in the shadows while displaying it all to the reader to not only enjoy, but feel the pain and stress while learning about others dealing with life. This book, and others by this author, are in a class by themselves.
