He takes a package holiday to the Gambia. He samples village life, learns to eat like a real Gambian, gets involved with the local school, and, after a few unwise attempts, learns to love again. Travel with him and meet his friends, many of whom feature in other of the 'Malinding Village' books. This is the first book in the Malinding Village series, and many of the characters who play a small part in this story have greater roles in later books.
