Will she be able to pull Brody from his darkness, or will everything they’ve worked to build crumble around them?

Make it a Double I have read all of Sawyer's books and I love them all. This book is no exception. We meet Brody in book one, he's Hunter's twin brother who just got out of prison. He's sexy, brooding and snarky and he said some horrible things to Alyssa, his sister's best friend. He learns that she's not who he thought she was and they end up working together at her animal shelter. Alyssa was raised a privileged rich kid, but she's far from that now. They bond over their pasts and secrets that keep them apart. I loved their banter and their chemistry was off the charts! I enjoyed seeing inside Brody and what made him tick. I also loved seeing the characters from On the Rocks again! Do not miss it! It's a unique story about love and the pasts that haunt both Brody and Alyssa. They need to drop their walls and let each other in to overcome everything and find love.
Is that hope for something different in my life? Is she some freakin' ray of sunshine or something that I should soak up and learn from?
He's never stood this close to me...just an inch or two away, and I can almost feel a vibration...a pulse..a pull...whatever, between us.
And here I stand...inches away from a woman so beautiful she makes my eyes hurt sometimes, and so kind that she makes my heart hurt. I know that I had, without a doubt, the best kiss of my life with her the other night, and it will be even better if I kiss her again.
"What? Don't tell me you haven't thought about it. At some point, you didn't fantasize about having both Markham twins in a mind-blowing threesome?"
Sugar on the Edge I start all my Sawyer Bennett reviews the same - I have read all of her books and I love her and them! This is the 3rd book in the Last Call Series. I didn't think I could love someone more than Brody, but Gavin snuck up on me. He's, gorgeous, sexy, tortured, broody, witty, British and has a dirty mouth. My favorite kind of hero. Gavin is hiding from his past and he's rude. mean and new in town. He hires Savannah, a sweet, hard working, innocent girl to clean his house. He's not prepared for the pull towards her and he refuses to acknowledge that he might care. Instead, he's rude to her, uses his dirty mouth to try and embarrass her and make her run. He underestimates her innocence and her moxie! Gavin pushes Savannah beyond her boundaries - can you say amazing car scene? Their chemistry is off the charts hot and they start to burrow into each other's hearts. Gavin might be broody and stoic, but he's a writer and he has an amazing way with words. He knows how to express himself but Savannah doesn't know how to believe him. Can they get over their pasts and learn to love again? Or will their worst fears come to the surface? Do not miss this amazing story of loss, pain, lust and love. You won't be sorry!
I'm driving an Italian sports car on a lonely highway with an insanely gorgeous and carnally sinful man with his hand between my legs. There's no other way for this to go but hard and fast.
Desire, not lust. Because they are two different things. Lust suggests a carnal need to slake oneself until there is no further need. Desire suggests a craving...something that is pervasive and without end. Something that pulls at you...warms you from the inside out and fogs your senses entirely.
Simply pit...she had become an obsession for me, and I wondered about the lunacy of my thoughts, I really decided that I didn't give a flying f if I was going crazy. In the short time I'd known her, I had become addicted to her brand of sweet.
I love Sawyer Bennett and her books. Just when I think I can't love another book, story, or leading man, she proves me wrong. Wyatt. Oh, Wyatt. We've seen him a little in the other books in the series, and I'm so glad he got his own story! With A Twist is about Wyatt, who's an undercover cop and Andrea, an FBI agent who becomes his partner in a sex slave ring assignment. When he first meets her, he's not thoroughly impressed with her FBI standard issued clothes and hair, but when he sees her undercover as a stripper, he's shocked that she's the same woman. He learns that she is strong, competent, sexy, smart and sassy. They have great chemistry and genuine care for each other. There's just something about being stuck in a bad situation that brings them together. When the assignment is over, he goes home to a job he loves and his family and friends and she goes back to wait to hear about the promotion of a lifetime. They are miserable apart and can't stop thinking about each other. Will one of them make the big gesture and follow the other? Can they make it work living thousands of miles apart? Sawyer writes hot, funny romance like no other. I desperately want to be friends with these characters; all of them! I'm already sad that this wonderful series may be coming to an end soon.
"I might be indeed. But we'll go out in a blaze of glory, right?" "Damn…now I have that Bon Jovi song stuck in my head."
"F**k, I'm out of shape." "Out of shape?" Wyatt says. "You ran down, tackled him hard enough the NFL would want to recruit you. I think you're in excellent shape."
"You have the body of a centerfold the face of an angel, and the heart of a lion."
Wyatt's moth and tongue should be licensed weapons, because surely, I'm going to perish from how good this feels.
Shaken not Stirred I start all of my Sawyer Bennett books the same way, I love her and her books. She's one of my go to authors! I've been waiting for Casey's story for a long time and I was not disappointed. Casey has issues with men. Not your typical ones either. She only dates rich men and she never lets them get to close. If they do, she's gone. Until one day she's stuck on the side of the road and a smokin' hot guy on a motorcycle comes to her rescue. She's instantly attracted, but knows she can't make a move because he's all wrong her for. Dangerous, sexy, hot, but not rich. She saunters off thinking she'll never see him again and then he shows up at the Last Call and once he looks at her and touches her again, she's promising herself to him. She knows it's a mistake, but she can't help herself. Tenn wants Casey and he's going to do whatever he needs to, to have her. He's driven across the country to visit his daughter and now that he's met Casey, he's definitely thinking of staying. Tenn and Casey are hot and sweet together. Their chemistry is off the charts, but they are also silly together. It's like you're watching two people fall in love from afar. I loved it! I'm sad to see the series end, but I'm hoping we see more of a certain someone. Wink, wink! One of the best things about this book? My man Nixon! Woo hoo! :)
Damn, he is so amazingly gorgeous that I'm struck a but stupid for a moment. "This offer wouldn't have anything to do with the fact that you're just trying to keep my big, muscular body in your bed for a while, would it?"
Tenn on a motorcycle? Very hot. Tenn on a horse? No words in the English language can describe.
Nix winces and corrects her. "Um…honey, that's not a very studly way to describe me. Maybe I'm the hottest fucking man in the universe would be more appropriate."
I have a confession. This is my first Sawyer Bennett book and Loved it. So that also means that I did not read the first book in the series, On The Rocks. I was told that I did not have to and that is very true. Once you know how the characters know each other than you are good to go.
Brody was just released from prison after 5 years a few months ago. He is a serious and brooding type of man, not the sweet and sensitive type. He has a hard shell that just won't crack even if his amazing and loving family. He is working for his twin brother Hunter at his bar called The Last Call. He also needs to volunteer somewhere to according to his probation. One of his sister's best friends Alyssa owns and runs a no-kill shelter and has mentioned that he can volunteer there but he has refused. The last time they were together it was the the best and she reminded him of someone from his past....
Alyssa grew up with rich society but that it not who she is. She opened the no-kill shelter for animals called The Haven because it was her passion and she wanted to be who she really was. She can go from dirty jeans, t-shirt and boots to smokin' hot in a little black dress. She really is pretty awesome. She is also dealing with someone from her past that just will not go away!
Brody and Alyssa might not have a good relationship maybe not even a friendship but when she needed help, he was there. And from the Brody has accepted her offer of working at The Haven. When they start to actually get to know each other they just spark. They have things in common and bond over a secret. Their relationship goes from friendship to something more and it's amazing, sexy and beautiful.
I recommend reading this book. I will be adding more Sawyer Bennett Books to my TBR!
Quotes:
As I going to be able to push forward, knowing how great everything was that I left behind? I sure as hell don't know the answer to that, but I'm hoping time will bring clarity.
I have no clue, and the mere thought of extending myself out there to find out causes my stomach to rumble. Yet, I feel compelled to entertain the possibly that maybe she can teach me something.
It was simply the most beautiful experience of my life, and I just kissed my soul goodbye for good.
***SUGAR ON THE EDGE 5 Hearts
Sugar on the Edge is the third novel in the Last Call Series but can be read as a stand alone. I have not read On The Rocks which is the first in the series but did read Make It A Double and that is where I met Savannah...the so-called quiet one.
Gavin Cooke has moved from England to a small town in North Carolina to leave everything behind to work on his next erotic thriller novel. He has worked his way through England with booze, drugs and many women and now he needs to settle down and get to work. It is not not an easy task. He is a tortured, dark and twisted and his only real friend is Macallan, his bottle of scotch. He doesn't do happy, not even happy woman....he would rather make them feel pain, like the pain he feels daily.
Savannah is the new friend in the group of friends, she is Casey Markham's roommate and works her tail to the bone. She is a photographer's assistant, volunteer at The Haven, bartender when needed and also a Housekeeper. When Casey tells her that the man she just sold a house to needs a housekeeper. She has been warned that he is not the nicest man but she needs the job. When she first meets Gavin she was not surprised by his attitude but surprised for other reasons....he is hot, British and sets her on fire. But also an asshole....
Gavin is in awe of Savannah. He believed that is was shy and just did what she was told but she shocks the shit out of him everyday. He doesn't do happy but he can't stop thinking about his little housekeeper, he makes excuses to see her whenever he can. And Savannah is good for him...they need each other. They bring things out in one another that was deep down.Their sexual relationship is fucking amazing. They can't get enough of one another and when they open up emotionally, it's beautiful. But what is going to happen when the novel is finished? Can he really settle down in North Carolina? Can he move past his tortured past? When things get rough, can they work together?
This was a hard review. I know I say that a lot but I can go on and on about Gavin and Savannah! I can't wait to see what happens in the next Last Call novel.
Quotes:
I'm betting Gavin Cooke knows how to do that for a woman. Sure, he's brash, arrogant, and a jerk, but deep within those eyes, you can tell that part of his ego is what makes him a undoubtably fantastic lover. I bet he doesn't know how to do a poor job of nothing.
Savannah doesn't know me all that well at all, but she understands that Killing the Tides was borne of a pervasive darkness within me.
"Now, Sweet...stop telling the girls all of our sexy secrets or there will be no ropes for you tonight."
***WITH A TWIST 5 Hearts
This is the fourth novel in the Last Call Series. I absolutely love this Series like crazy! Each couple has their own unique and sexy story. My blog partner calls me a detective while I read so when I read that it was about a cop, a FBI agent and a strip club, I was super stoked!
Wyatt wants what his friends have found...love. The only thing is the way was his career, he was a cop and loved his job. He would never leave it so he needed to find someone to accept it. But, right now was not the time for starting anything with anyone. He was going undercover to bring down a sex slave ring. It was going to be dangerous but worth it. After getting in on the action a few months down the line at the strip club where everything was happening, he needed the perfect bait to hook his bosses...
Andrea was an FBI agent with a recent broken heart. She loved her career and was ready to move up in the ranks. She had no idea that her past college job would be exactly what would come in handy to get to where she wants to be. She paid her way through college as a stripper and now she had to go back there. To strip. To be sold as a sex slave.
Wyatt didn't give Andrea the best first impression when they met but she was still had a feeling about this man. She had to trust him with her life and he had to do the same. When it was time to be tested by one of the bosses, things change between them. There was an attraction there but was it an act or for real? That is the problem with going undercover...you just never know if they are in character or out.
They are thrown together to complete the sting operation. A very dangerous one. They have to be close and it is even harder on Wyatt to watch her strip nightly and not go to her. He can not f- this up. But what will happen after its all said and done?
I love the way Wyatt and Andrea are with one another. They go through something dangerous and they have to have each other's backs. Wyatt is a hot cop and Andrea might just be my favorite heroine in the series...she is kick ass. They are sexy and sweet together but they live far away from each other, they both have careers they love. Can they work something out? Do they even want to try or just make it a fling?
This one was exciting, suspenseful, sexy and heartwarming. I can not wait for the next book in the series...keep bringing them on!
Quotes:
He holds my gaze, and while I can still appreciate his male perfection s he sits across the table from me, I have decided that I don't like this man very much.
"Baby...any man within a twenty-foot vicinity of me tomorrow is going to have a raging hard-on when I'm done dancing. I suggest you learn how to discreetly adjust yourself so you don't get embarrassed."
What do I say to something that was taboo, erotic, fulfilling, dirty, and absolutely mind blowing?
***SHAKEN, NOT STIRRED 5 Hearts
Well...Sawyer has done it again! I love this series. Hard. Each novel is a different unique story but all sexy, witty and emotional. I am hooked and don't want it to end.
Casey is the queen of one-night stands. She does not get attached and the minute she senses they might, she is out of there and doesn't look back. She does not string them along, she tells them upfront that it's just sex and no sleepovers. She has been this way for 8 years and has her type that she hunts for. Her friends accept it but want her to be happy and know this is not the way to do it. She has a moment and thinks it's that time to change and grow up, as her parents would say. But can she? She knows how to bring men to their knees but is there one out there can bring her to hers?
Tenn is traveling to North Carolina from Wyoming with his best friend Kyle. Kyle is visiting his sister Andrea in Outer Banks and Tenn is along for ride to visit his daughter, Zoey a few hours before. When things change and Tenn ends up going with Kyle to Outer Banks and on the way they help a very sexy woman in need of a tire change and then sees her again at the Last Call Bar, working. There is something about her and learned her name is Casey and Tenn wants her. And she wants him, he knows it. It's in her eyes, the desire and she gives him one night. He thought that would be enough but he was wrong.
Tenn is intrigued by Casey. She used his move and left after the sex. He wanted to know why and who made her this way. Casey would fight this and Tenn would not give up. Casey was surprised that he wanted to know her and not just use her for sex. Tenn challenges her and she pushes back but will it backfire? Is Tenn the man to bring her to her knees in more ways than one?
I loved this story. Tenn is alpha, sweet, refuses to give up and a damn amazing dirty talker. Casey is independent, sassy and sexy. Together they are steamy, hilarious and bring out things in each other that nobody else could. I thought it was awesome Tenn was a dad and him and Zoey have a great relationship.
Overall, it is sexy, addicting and emotional. It was great catching up with the rest of the gang. I am not sure if there is more to the series but if so, I know exactly who I want it to be next...I am craving it even. I need it. I don't want it to end.
Quotes:
“I’d make you come over and over and over again. And when you insist you couldn’t give me any more, I’d make you come again just to prove you wrong.”
“Wow,” Casey says with surprise. “A biker, a Marine, and a cowboy. You like have all the hot guy tropes covered.”
“You need to grab onto it, Casey, and make it your bitch,” Gabby says with a wink and a smirk.
I had already the first in this series but when the whole thing was available for so cheap I bought it immediately. Bennett has such a talent of getting the reader sucked in and really delivering a story that leaves me breathless.
I love this series and each and every one of these couples. I was totally hooked after reading Hunter and Gabby's story after that each story kept me captive so much that I couldn't put it down. So well worth reading
I'd give this box series 4 stars out of 5. The stories were good and they kept my interest. if I had to break it down to my favorite to least favorite, it would be this= 1-Shaken, Not Stirred (Casey & Tenn) I REALLY LOVED their story! Casey was this beauty who was very confident with her body and knew how to use her goods. It was sad what happened to make her become so distant. But it took a man like Tenn to break through those walls. Loved it!!
*2-Sugar On The Edge (Gavin & Savannah) *2-Make It A Double (Brody & Alyssa) These two books tie for 2nd place. Both Gavin and Brody were real jerks but in the end, they were big enough to admit they were wrong and ask for forgiveness. ahhhhh.
3-On The Rocks (Hunter & Gabby) I loved a good crush turn into real relationship, especially after a long period of time has passed. Hunter was wrong for hurting Gabby back in high school but he had his reasons. In the end, it all worked out.
4-With A Twist (Wyatt & Andrea) Unfortunately, this was my least favorite of all the books. It started off really good with the whole working undercover but then it just turned kinda boring. I expected the bad guys to show up and cause some trouble but nope, that never happened and so the excitement from the beginning just fizzled out. Its sad, I was really rooting for Wyatt's story to be a good one.
The Last Call Series, full of delicious alpha males!!!
WOW! This collection of books was amazing. This author is extremely talented and can write some steamy scenes.
The Last Call gang was so fun to get to know and all of them are so beautiful inside and out. My emotions were all over the place, but one thing was crystal clear - this group of friends/family loves hard and protects even harder.
This collection had me holding my breath, sitting on the edge of my seat, had my heart breaking because of past events and secrets, had me swooning, and had me 100% hot & bothered from all the romantic sexy alpha males.
I strongly suggest you read this series immediate. Each book is a stand alone and has characters that cross over in each story, but you will not be lost if you only read a few of them.
5 Star Review I read each of these books as the came out and loved them. Having them all together in a boxed set is perfect because you will get caught up and fall in love with the guys and gals from The Last Call beach bar. Each book builds on love and friendships that started with the characters we met in book 1 On the Rocks. There are 5 books about 5 main characters from different parts of the world but by the end of this series you will feel like you belong and are part of the community of North Carolina's Outer Banks....... Sawyer Bennett never disappoints another brilliant series
A solid 4.5 stars. One thing you have to appreciate about Sawyer Bennett is she is always going to deliver an engaging story. Each of the book in this set is good in its own right. I read them as they came out so they definitely can standalone, but the crossover of characters really makes the reading experience that much richer. Enjoy!
Loved this series! I love Sawyer Bennett's books. The characters were great. I especially loved Brody's story. It was very touching. Tenn & Casey's story was super hot!! I found myself wishing I was part of their circle and living in the Outer Banks!!
