The Will Harris Murders: November 13, 1906, a Night in Which Asheville Was a Tougher Town Than Tombstone and Dodge City Rolled into One

Rate this book
On the night of November 13, 1906, Asheville was as tough as Tombstone and Dodge City rolled into one as a murderer ran amok. A well-written, factual piece of North Carolina law enforcement history.

Grew up reading Bob Terrell in the Asheville Citizen Times and occasionally seeing him on the news in the evening. Always enjoyed him and he was a great storyteller. This is the first of his books I have read and it will not be the last. As usual, he tells a great story. Was not aware of Will Harris and the murders in Asheville. I'm sure I had a teacher at Weaverville Elementary or North Buncombe High School that tried to teach this part of WNC history but I was probably day dreaming or goofing off. Great read if you enjoy historical narratives and WNC history.

An interesting retelling of the 1906 Will Harris murders and the ensuing manhunt. The author novelizes events a bit to make the book more interesting. He is clear about this in his introduction. I would give it 4/5 stars.

Great narrative history! Terrell, local Asheville Citizen-Times columnist, recounts the story in an exciting and very readable way. Great read for a summer afternoon
