The handywoman of Rock Ridge, Kate Flaherty has enjoyed two peaceful years of marriage with Scott York, the Chief of Police. Her twin boys, Jason and Jared, have graduated college and moved back to town, and her Mrs. Fit It business is going strong. It would seem life couldn't be better.
It could get much worse however, and does when Kate discovers the local baker dead in her car. It's night. There's no one around. And Cookie Halpert didn't die of natural causes.
This time it's not so easy sneaking around town and delving into the lives of her neighbors to nail down the killer. But there's nothing broken in this town that Kate can't fix, and murder is no exception.
Very cute cookie cuter mysteries that I devoured while I was cruising to Mexico... pretty sure I read 7 of the books in the series. This is a very cute mystery series to read if you are in the mood for something to take your mind off the world and have a little fun.
Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...
1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.
2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.
3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.
4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.
5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.
So now Kate's sons have moved back home. One is a giant douche who may have lied about his fiancée being abducted. By the way, Kate is still going by her dead ex-husband's last name, just noticed that. Some typos and missed spellings again. No one is having appropriate emotional responses in this book. Her sons fiancé was kidnapped and she went to go do some of her odd jobs.
This book left me with too many questions. Her future daughter in law is kidnapped and Kate just keeps working. Nothing about how the characters reacted seemed like real life. Her son's fiancee and she ask if he's been going to work? In the previous books, you know Scott is one of the good guys but it just felt bad that Kate so easily questioned Scott's ethics. I'm reading book #7 but with some apprehension
This is the first book in the 2nd 'season' or set in this series, and it definitely seems to be a great little start to a good story. Lots of thisgs going on as the stage is set for further along in the 'season,' and that tends to make things a little convoluted in this one. Still, the primary crime in this one is solved in a satisfactory manner, and I did enjoy the read.
Same shit, different title. Sons move back to town and they aren't likeable. Actually one might be ok, there's something off about the other one. He was up and down all over the place. Sulking and not coming out of his room one minute, laughing the next.... None of those people had the right emotions for what was going on, and Kate cared for more the dead person than the missing.
this group of books does need to be read in order 4 complete understanding. in this installment her son's girlfriend has gone missing and one of the town's folk is dead. she quickly solved the murder mystery of the Town woman and is still left with a mystery of the missing girlfriend. Highly entertaining read that really takes your mind off reality.
I forgot how much I missed this series.. And how short they are! However it's nice to be able to finish a 'book' during lunch, it's a great way to pass time! I like how this book had two different things going on and look forward to seeing how the second gets solved in the next!
the murder of a woman who was in business had the police suspecting the wrong person and the woman who loved other crimes didn't believe the suspect was guilty.
Kate again finds a friend dead murdered in her car. at the same time her future daughter in law,Becky it appears is kidnapped. Kate solves the murder and Becky appear.(???)
This is the next part of Kates story, set 2 years after the last one. Times have certainly changed for Kate, she's moved on, her boys are him and she's settled down. What doesn't change is murder - is this the start of another mini series, are the murders linked this time round? I like how the author leaves some questions unanswered. I enjoyed reading the book and an looking forward to reading the next one.
