Like an extended valentine, I Like You, I Love You is an illustrated ode to the feelings of seeking, finding, and falling in love. Knowing drawings by artist Carissa Potter pop off each page in striking neon and metallic inks, illustrating all the moments between meeting that special someone ("I like you"), falling for them ("I like-like you"), and finding the comfort of devotion ("I love you"). Potter's unique visual voice brings humor, reality, and poignancy to this universal human narrative, ensuring that everyone who has known love will recognize themselves in her relatable artwork. Seeming to say it all with a knowing nod, this charming little love letter of a book is an ideal gift for romantics who are crushing, committed, or anywhere in between.
Originally from Minneapolis, Carissa Potter lives and works in Oakland, California. Her prints and small-scale objects reflect her hopeless romanticism through their investigations into public and private intimacy. Speaking both humorously and poignantly to the human condition, Carissa's work touches chords we all can relate to - exploring situations we've all experienced at some point in our lives and conveying messages we simply long to hear. Carissa Potter is a founding member of Colpa Press and founder of People I've Loved. Since 2010, she has been an artist in residence at Kala Art Institute in Berkeley, where she teaches letterpress. She also serves as a mentor in Southern Exposure's One-on-One Mentorship Program. Carissa received her MFA in Printmaking from the San Francisco Art Institute in 2010.

I actually made a Goodreads account just to post this.
My girlfriend of nine months gave this to me as a gift and wrote little notes for me on the pages. It's the most heartfelt gift a partner has ever given me and I'll cherish it forever. This book is a sweet, thoughtful little thing you give to someone you've slowly but surely fallen in love with and want to express just how much they mean to you.
It's not a novel in the traditional sense - it's more of a piece of art. Keep that in mind when you look at it.
Aaaaah que livro mais fofo! Uma leitura super rápida e apaixonante sobre as "etapas" de um relacionamento. Um presente fofo para dar para o seu amor <3
I'm usually easily entertained by short, illustrated works written in a similar vein to this one. However, I struggled to engage with the contents here. I liked the simple art style and the minimal page layouts but couldn't find the same love for what was penned.
The contents seemed very personal, meaning that I feel few would be able to find their own love reflected on most of the pages and, therefore, this wouldn't make the most meaningful gift or prove relative for the masses. Of course, these are just my personal thoughts and I hope that others who read this find their relationship mirrored here.
"I encourage you to explore the subtle transitions of relationships from initial attraction through compromises, all the way to choosing to grow together."
This is a little book of art and sweet little romantic thoughts, like inside jokes, growing together, etc. This would be cute as an anniversary gift if, like one reviewer mentioned, you added in your own little notes and memories to each page. Otherwise, it’s a little bland and basic.
~You don't have to bring flowers, you just have to show up~
It's a lovely book with small details about love and growing up together [to which I'm still a foreign :)) and I've already read it for like three times to process it.] As much as it is not or won't be same for everyone, we like to define things or feelings, list them on papers in the best way we can, just like the feeling of "the slow dance on a crowded place there is only our rhythm..."
This is cute for the author and her partner, but I didn't think it was particularly inspiring, original or beautifully drawn. Not really for me unfortunately.
2.3/5 stars Cute but not hype enough. In order to say this is a book, I'd likely to call it a collection of famous or click-bait posts on FB which got the highest reactions in personal/professional account. I'd love to read about it on FB like a short post, a slow pace in daily routine but not be the fan of this book.
