About the author

Ann Mayburn

Ann is Queen of the Castle to her wonderful husband and three sons in the mountains of West Virginia. In her past lives she's been an Import Broker, a Communications Specialist, a US Navy Civilian Contractor, a Bartender/Waitress, and an actor at the Michigan Renaissance Festival. She also spent a summer touring with the Grateful Dead(though she will deny to her children that it ever happened).

From a young age she's been fascinated by myths and fairytales, and the romance that often was the center of the story. As Ann grew older and her hormones kicked in, she discovered trashy romance novels. Great at first, but she soon grew tired of the endless stories with a big wonderful emotional buildup to really short and crappy sex. Never a big fan of purple prose, throbbing spears of fleshy pleasure and wet honey pots make her giggle, she sought out books that gave the sex scenes in the story just as much detail and plot as everything else-without using cringe worthy euphemisms. This led her to the wonderful world of Erotic Romance, and she's never looked back.

Now Ann spends her days trying to tune out cartoons playing in the background to get into her 'sexy space' and has learned to type one handed while soothing a cranky baby.

Ridiculously cheesy and over the top - so basically everything I expected going into this read. A fun break from serious reading.

I will say that I hope no one takes any life lessons from this series, as it apparently preaches the merits of abandoning your family, friends, career, and entire planet just because some guy you met days before says he loves you. Casey leaves her planet permanently 48 hours after meeting her alien love in a grocery store. But giving up all your meaningful relationships, hopes, aspirations, and purpose in life is totally fine because he's really hot and has a vibrating dick. Take heart, ladies!

And then there's the book's definition of "conflict resolution". Casey sees something that makes her lose faith in her boys and runs away. She is captured and drugged to bring her back home - we're talking about the alleged good guys here - where she's tied to the bed so she can't run again. Then Nast spanks her until she's sobbing and bruised (after he's sworn up and down that he would die before ever hurting a woman). But that's all fine because he then gives her mind-blowing orgasms until she sees the error of her ways and apologizes, promising never to leave again. So much for any shred of female pride, even in a matriarchy.

So aside from utterly failing the feminist cause, a good read.

I am realizing that I don't so much like alien-smut, but that I only like one particular brand of it. A big blue brand.

This had the start of a pretty comical alien smut book. Especially when our alien hunk met our Earth girl with his friend and came up with this reason as to why there were suddenly all these gorgeous giant men around:

"We are models from Europe who are running a boot camp for other models to improve their skills and exercise in fresh air."

"You're running a European male model boot camp here? Cheslsea, Michigan? Why in god's name would you do that?"

See? Now that has promise! lol!

But, alas, it didn't stay that hilariously awesome. Instead the author tried to make it a "story" about this alien race and all of their problems. Blah, blah, blah... Give me some silly, nonsensical alien smut that makes me laugh. That's what I am here for!

Also, the book gets all preachy about how love isn't confined by gender or multiple partners. Yeah, yeah, yeah.... Boring!

audio reader was good.

I would have given this 3 stars if it hadn't PISSED the everlovin' CR*P outta me..

The usual 'Mars needs women' trope with the obligatory few changes to the formula to personalize it. The aliens are into group or at least duo matings. The original women of their species aren't sterile, or few in number, but . The men are bisexual (but apparently not the women).
I would have enjoyed the cheesy goodness of it if it weren't for 2 things;

1. Waaaaay too much page time spent about how hot they are, how cute she is and how horny everyone is. Always using the same language so the repetition gets old fast.
2. The author spends at least a sentence of every paragraph on a soap box about the evils of Earth's cultures. Of course I agree with some of it, but it wasn't even handed criticism or particularly well thought out, but it was literally incessant through all 12 hours of audiobook! ...

Here's my brief rant about the ridiculous 'lop sided' culture of these aliens;

So much intolerance by the aliens that I began to dislike them, intensely. And I find the author offensive. They literally, had nothing good to say about Earth cultures. Was it at least romantic or spicy? Not really. Too much telling and not enough showing. The sex might have been hot, if it wasn't kinda quirky. A better, steamier menage with similar a plot would be the Emma: Part One series.
I am NOT reading the rest of the series.

oh yeah and one last quibble . I lost what little respect I had for all their shallow-*ss characters.

I will start my review with a rambling... Why O why?

Two things bothers me no-end:

non respect of the french language
the models on covers have nothing to do with the description

Ann Mayburn used 3 french words in her story and she managed to spell them wrong! I really truly hate when an author is too lazy to make a quick search on the web to verify the spelling. CIRQUE DU SOLEIL dammit! Not "CIRQUE DE SOLEI" !!!!! It is not even a word but a name, famous in addition to that. So neither the author nor the editor thought wise to verify the typo because they must be people that believe only american read their story? Really??? Although I cannot believe all american never heard of it, especially in Vegas! I will never understand laziness when using another language. It is totally disrespectful. No excuses. #SUCKS

The models on the cover... Lets see how they were described:

Both wore a pair of black pants that reminded her of something a martial artist would wear, and their long, beautiful hair was loose around them.

The man on the left had silver hair that had an almost metallic sheen, silky and falling to his mid back. The deep bronze tone of his skin also shone like burnished metal, and when she looked up into his bright blue eyes (...)

(...) a man with amazing long, blood-red hair streaked with thick highlights of honey blond. It reached almost to his waist (...) There was a faint pelt of red hair on his chest and she had an overwhelming urge to lick him. He had fuller lips than the silver-haired man, but the rest of his features were rougher from his prominent nose to his heavy brow.

At this point, I invite you to scroll up and check the cover on top of this review... Yeah, really? the two short army hair cut brown hair were the best this publisher could do? Yes I get it that it is not easy to find the exact models but at least they could make an effort to find a blond and a red hair with shoulder length? I mean if the publisher could not find any model close enough to the description, then stick to the heroine only then or cut the heads and stick to the torsos. #DUH

Sorry to say but the rating dropped from 4 to 3. I was even harder with previous reviews where I rated 1 star because the french translation was nasty, I am not going to make an exception here because I loved the story and it was only a couple of word (and the annoying cover book).

I am upset because this was definitely a great menage. I loved the characters, the romance, the plot. I thought it was original and well written. I was immersed in this new sci-fi saga. I mean this story had all the elements to deserve a great long review from me.

A couple of things bothered me like credibility. It was how one of the hero found the heroine. I thought it was rushed. A full chapter to explain the reasons why the warriors have to go on earth but then BAM! the hero appear at the heroine's door step. Then all warriors who felt their bondmates in the area stick together, they have the most expensive cars and bikes, they can buy a house, buy clothes, cars, change the color of the hair (at least one hero from silver to white-blond, not the length mind you). Which money? Within 1-2 days? Another chapter would have been nice to understand their struggle to find their bondmates. I wanted to believe that the wormhole theory was the passage to another galaxy but it stopped to be credible when the characters went back in a blink of an eye to say goodbye to the heroine's family (why not reaping the memories instead of this silly stripping excuses tv reality show?) and to help the Reaping (do not want to spoil so I just will call it). And I was upset that I did not get a glimpse of the second bonding.

I understand it the first book of a new series but I was left hanging about the villain. What if I do not want to read this series any further? I will never know the consequences of the villain's action. Regarding the heroine's sex punishment when she run away because she thought she was betrayed was over the top. The author took the easy way to punish the heroine because she scared the heroes and because she had a great orgasm, she finally (took a long long time for it) admit that loving two men was okay. I read this over and and over and it really annoys me to use sex as a meaning to make the stupid heroine understand... In my world, I have a talk... with my clothes on, an explanation, a mutual understanding... then makeup sex. I do not need to be tied up, and receive a great orgasm to understand. In fact, the only thing I would understand is to try again to receive the same treatment! logical no? Naaa, totally stupid! I hate it when authors portray their characters like stupid bimbos and cavemen. It was only one scene (phew) but still.

You know what? I realized that even if I liked the story, I may have given only a 3 stars from the start after all. Re-reading the bothering parts, I think the list is long enough to confirm the 3 stars...

Those were the points that bothered me. I am a bit short and I wished I could give you more positive thoughts because the story truly deserves way more than what I said. I was so happy to read a menage that had all the ingredients I enjoy. I am sure 99.99% will not care about those details. Good enough. It is a fantastic story nevertheless.

~ 4.5 Casey's Warriors Stars ~

Casey's Warriors is book one in the Bondmates series by Ann Mayburn. This was my first book with Ann Maybum and most certainly not my last. She captured me from the first to last page. I was sucked into the Alien world.

I don't read many Erotic Sci-Fi Romances, but this one caught my eye and I had to give it a try. I was blown away and became immersed in the world created. I liked how the author explained the cultures both of Earth and of the Alien race. This helps set everything up and build the characters and world. It shows us the trills the Alien men will have to over come to get an Earth woman to love and accept more than one man as her bonded mates. I thoroughly enjoyed the characters and romance. The author did a great job writing the sex scenes which range from M/F, menage, M/M, and more.

Their was one thing that I felt should have been flushed out more. The villain, which it sounds like will continue in the rest of the series, but those that don’t like the book don’t get closer on this. We are left hanging on who they are and what consequences the villain's actions will or do have.

Their was one thing I didn’t really like so much. It was very predictable that the heroine runs away when she sees something that upsets her. Really lady you are on an Alien plant and it’s very obvious you can feel your husbands emotions and they can feel you, so why not open up and talk to them instead of running away. This just made her drop down in my opinion from a character that could actually accept things, to a stupid bimbo. This action leads into her punishment/consequence. I didn’t care for how the author handled this. Casey's mates punish her with a great orgasms and a very very hot sex. This didn't work so much for me. I will say it was a hot and very sexy scene, but I felt it was silly to use sex as a means to make the heroine understand. The husbands/wife should talk; with cloths on, explain, and have a mutual understanding, then after that have outstanding fabulous makeup sex. Adding those two scenes together and it made them feel counter productive.

Casey's Warriors is an erotica romance set in an alternate world with sexy alien men and multiple partners. It’s a steamy romance. I was so captured that I ended up picking up the novella to read and can’t wait for book two to come.

This one started out as a five-star read for me. I freaking LOVE books with alien erotica. I thought the whole plot with the Kadothians and the Hive was really cool, and the fact that they had a view of Jupiter was a little more...I don't know, real since it was in our galaxy for starters. It reminded me a lot of the Brides of the Kindred series by Evangeline Anderson. But I don't know...something about the hormones from the kiss seemed to really take that decision for Casey out of her hands, even though granted, she was really caught up by Lorn from the start. And I don't know what happened but when Nast came into the picture, it really started to fall flat for me. And I really anticipated more interaction with the Hive and there wasn't any. And no resolution to whoever messed up the pleasure 'bots. And I can't even express how dumb that story was that they made up to give her family. Maybe there will be more in the other books in the series, since I assume there will be more, but I hope the other ones are better. However, it was entertaining and the sex was hot and I loved the relationship between Lorn and Casey.

Re-read 2/20 still ***** 5 star erotica

3/26/15-3/27/15 *****5 stars

Casey's Warriors is the first Ann Maybum book I've ever read. Although the premise attracted me, I'm ashamed to admit my expectations weren't overly high. Luckily my expectations were blown away. Ann Maybum is an amazingly talented writer. She's a wizard with sex scenes, does an incredible job world building, her characters have an unbelievable depth & are very relatable, the story itself is engrossing, & the range of emotions the author makes you feel are surprising. The author makes suspension of disbelief a breeze . I became a fan & have purchased both the kindle & audible versions of Casey's Warriors, have read them multiple times, went on to read Jaz's Warriors & look forward to all future books in this series. The story of Casey's Warriors has become one of my favorite sic-fi erotic romances. I've even recommended the series to my friends who've also become big fans. I recommend this book to fans of erotica who are interested in alternate worlds, aliens, reverse harams & anyone who enjoys reading steamy romance.

A thrilling and erotic adventure changes Casey Westfall’s life forever when she finds a sexy man on her doorstep. Lorn Adar has searched for his bondmate for a long time and when he finds the beautiful Earth woman that is meant to be his, he will have to convince to face the unknown and take a leap of faith to save his best friend and brothers at arms.

This fast paced and smooth flowing plot keeps readers on the edge of their seat with suspense, drama and passion. The author brings the story to life with well written scenes and details that capture the imagination and invite the reader to join in this fascinating culture. The well orchestrated events are believable and the strong compelling characters are easily related to and grab the reader’s attention from the very beginning making it easy for the reader get completely caught up in the drama of Casey’s dilemma in accepting a whole new way of life.

The attraction between Lorn and Casey radiates lots of heat from every page and when Nast joins in the sex scenes explode in an inferno of fiery passion including M/F, M/F/M. M/M, M/M/F, M/F+M+M=M scenes that has the reader’s heart pounding. The reader can certainly understand where the warriors are coming from, but of course anybody would have issues dealing with everything that gets thrown at Casey in such a short period of time. The drama and the intrigue from the political ramifications of the warriors finding human bondmates add some extra spice to the story.

The author has created a fascinating sci-fi world with lots of curiosity arousing elements that has reader wanting to know more, not to mention the sexy idea of multiple husbands in a matriarchal culture. There are also lots of captivating characters that draw the reader deeper into the story and I was completely engrossed from the very beginning. To answer the author’s question: since you want me to choose I will have to go with Paige’s story because while I think both will be fascinating, I am also intrigued by the scarred warrior winning his bondmate and I want to know if there are more bondmates in store for them.

The story involves Lorn and his fellow Kadothian & brother in arms- Nast and the heroine Casey Westfall.

The story starts when Casey gets a call from her older sister Roxy who is in the military. She tells her sister to get her college girlfriends and head for home-pronto. Wont say why but just said things are going to go downhill fast .The older sister tells Casey to think "Lord of the Flies" stuff and that martial law and all and to get home...and that is how this story starts off. I was drawn in immediately. I had secondary characters fleshed out for me that I wanted stories for (i.e. Roxy the older sister, kimber, paige & dawn -college friends) So Casey gathers her friends and they head for her home and make it , barely when the flare hits.

16 hours later , some intense magnetic event occurred which took down every plane and killed alot of people and disrupted electrial systems. After being up all night, Casey finally falls asleep and dreams of Lorn....Lorn sees finally that his bondmate is waiting for him and she is on Earth and this is where he needs to go get her. but he cannot take his brother in arms with him, because the hive threatens their race so he must stay behind to continue to train the troops-their race is two men to one woman whereas in on earth that is not how things are done and Lorn is aware that he must work fast and hard to get Casey to come back with him ....and that is where the pace really picks up

I couldnt put this book down. There were so many twists and turns....I didnt think I would like the SF element but actually loved it. Found it very truthful ; loved the cast of characters in this story and cant wait for the secondary characters to get their own books.

Perfect summer reading. Cant go wrong reading Ann Mayburn.

Here's a hypothetical situation: you're a young woman living in a small town near your family during a time of national emergency and uncertainty. You meet a couple of guys and decide to move to their planet. Do you (a) tell your family before going or (b) leave without a word and never once consider they must be going insane with fear and worry because you're a missing person?

Ok, how about this one: you marry these men and they allow you to revisit your planet for a handful of hours before you leave for the Rest of Your Entire Life. Do you (a) spend this precious time with your family or (b) quickly say hey and bye so you can use the rest of the time having sex with your new husbands in your old earth apartment?

Lastly: when you first arrive at the home of the men who you love and trust enough to have left your family and planet for, and a complete stranger tells you they are cheating on you, do you (a) ask your husbands what's up or (b) run away without leaving word, into the night on a strange planet with unknown dangers, and then trust the next complete stranger you meet with your safety?

How are so many readers engrossed by the story of this shallow and stupid young woman?

Also: packed with insta-love and relationships based pretty much on lust. But, then I could not respect an adult man who would love such a silly woman's personality, so the fact that they love her for no good reason beyond hormones and self preservation makes sense.

I'm in a minority here, but I didn't enjoy this book. The treatment of the heroine got into my nerves.

Like in most of these books she is the one who has to leave everything behind at a young age and has her options clearly taken from her from the very first moment (the hero gives her his blood in their very first kiss starting a ritual, that makes her not only extremely horny but which starts changes in her body as well). But the worst of it is that she is subjected to bigotry by people who thinks that 5 seconds after meeting them, she has to understand that polygamy, her lover being in love with another person (in this case a man, although I don't think it really matters), sharing her pleasure with hundreds it's real love.

I could totally get Cassie. Come on...All your life you are taught one thing and these people expect you to forget that in less than 72 hours and to change your life leaving everything behind. But the way she was chastised left me with a bad taste.

This is an enjoyable poly Alien Romance for the most part. I like the heroes a great deal. The heroine is young but likeable.

However, the limited culture point of view grated a bit. We do have poly relationships on Earth. The whole Earth. We have a wide variety of cultural responses toward same sex couples as well as sexual experience in women.

While the heroine's culture may be negative towards the norms of the Alien culture she is entering, all of the Earth isn't. I had to grit me teeth during some of her rants and the Aliens lack of research.

I think I was irrated because there was a chance at interesting exploration of these topics and instead we had the heroine's freak out which went on for too long.

Yet, the world is interesting enough for me to keep reading.

I will say I would love to have a heroine from a non western nation or first world. There is a language implant so yeah lets do something new.

Yes, I enjoyed "Casey's Warrior," but could have liked it a lot more....

Nast and Lorn are Kadothian bondmates who long for their Matriarch. One night Lorn dreams of her and tells Nast, "Her fragrance was on my hands when I woke up after my dream as if I'd been holding her in truth. I wiped it off quickly on the sheet so I could preserve it." Ewwwww....

There's no explanation of how, of all the girls in all the world, Lorn's able to find Casey, but find her he does when he approaches her cash register in the little supermarket where she works...sparks fly..and her panties get wet, since apparently this Earth Girl is Very Easy! Before you know it, they're off to Kadothia, where Lorn introduces her to Nast and their other friends. But Casey needs convincing about sharing her life and her love for Lorn with Nast -- but gets over it fast. Wow...lucky Casey!

During a quick return trip to Earth, Casey introduces Lorn and Nast to her parents, announcing their marriage(s), but she explains their absence by telling her parents that they've been in Las Vegas filming a reality TV show, "They're strippers...More like dancers, but not the skanky kind....One of those high-end shows like the Cirque de Solei [sp]. But with hot guys..."

Wow...Not the kind of reaction I expect in a heroine...making wholly implausible excuses to cover up her feelings. Did the dog eat her homework as well? It makes her seem childish and silly...

Yes the sex is off the charts hot, and wow the Kadothian guys are extremely drool-worthy, but Casey rather ruins it...so 3 stars.

Quick Rundown-- sci-fi, alien erotica (medium-light level smut) where this chick gets a quick courtship by an unknown-to-her alien, insta-soulmate happens and she discovers that Earth females are needed to help save a humongous race of beefy alien hunks in polyamorous relationships. A matriarchal society where the woman in the relationship is revered and adored and gives the aliens empathic strength against deadly enemies and such unions will help save their universe due to some past DNA warfare that made them unable to produce baby girls hence the need for Earth girls. Sounds hokey? Yep, but it is so not and so much more!

I love this genre and have read many novels (a lot of erotica) about alien abduction and this is one is probably in top three. The beginning started out with a supernova punch that had me on the edge of my seat for the first couple chapters. Despite how hokey my book summation ends up, it was so well written that I believed every moment, every emotion, and any well veiled cliche'. There were a couple moments of slight cheese but they were pretty well towards the end and didn't disturb the mood though my mom calling in middle of a smut scene did.

This is pretty much M/M/F with a hint a couple extra M's in a light sexual situation on one occasion. Partial bonds with other males(in a sexual nature) are required in order to protect warriors in one's family which in turn offers protection for the whole group. The smut is basically between the three and the author did a good job about bringing in the second male at the right time and the right way. I was really impressed with the way the author distinguishes the lovin between the chick and the other males outside of her two mates. It flowed well and again, completely believable- especially considering the length of this novel. Smut level was medium light and I would have liked it a little more dirty but that's personal preference I suppose.

Like I said, this ended up being completely believable (along with enviable) and I became invested in the characters very easily. World building was just enough to create a picture. I was attached to the primary characters and the secondary characters had plenty of "life" about them despite being such a brief part of this shorter novel. I am slightly miffed about novel length despite how well the author did with it. There were blank pages between every chapter so I suspect that book length was more like 170ish pages instead of 191. But the pacing was tight and well done and I'm ready for the next one. Ending was a little abrupt with no cliff hanger. This novel could have easily been longer which would have made it more captivating but I am sure there are reasons why that only an author would know.

A couple other little issues that are terribly minor but bugged me long enough to make note of them. It was weird how she never inquired about her friends knowing early on that they were mates as well. And that even though she mentions in her inner dialogue about leaving a letter for her parents before she left for her mates' home planet, it only crosses her mind in one sentence despite their close relationship. Both are eventually addressed but as clever as this author seems to be, she could have added in a couple sentences on each above issue to keep reader focused on what was happening "now" instead of risking the believabiltiy by ignoring it till the end.

Ready for the other girls' stories!

Review
The Kodathian people are aliens that live for hundreds of years before gradually going insane without a bondmate to save stabilize them. Lorn Adar is approaching the end of his tether and is becoming desperate. If he doesn't find a mate soon, he and his team will die. When a wormhole opens up to a new world, the possibility of finding his mate sends him on a wild quest, and he comes across beautiful, curvaceous Casey. But their enemies will do whatever it takes to make sure the bindings fail. Lorn must fight his instincts to immediately lay claim to Casey and convince her that love is possible from beyond the stars or he may lose her to his enemies forever.

The beginning of the book opened a little slow for me, but I loved the first meeting between Lorn and Casey. The mace scene was hilarious! Lorn's backstory really captured my attention, so imagine my disappointment when the wonderful science fiction story slowly thinned out, replaced by smexy scenes. I guess I wanted more fighting, more tension, not just different sex scenes strung together. Don't get me wrong, the sex scenes were very well written and fit the story, there was just so many of them. I love strong characters. Unfortunately, Casey seemed to unravel, becoming a bit of a spoiled princess from all the attention. *bummer* By the end of the book, I was really disappointed that some of the plot threads weren't finished. So, while I loved different aspects of this story, the ending wasn't strong enough to interest me into continuing the series.

I'm not finishing this. Beyond stupid doesn't even scratch the surface. The whole premise is that the guys need to get a bondmate from Earth because their world is short on females but they have a harem??? Sorry the author calls it 6 pleasure servants.

There is so much love in the universe that everyone can have sex with everyone and it means nothing. Loyalty-intimacy-trust don't equal love just orgasms with anything that will hold still long enough to get your junk rubbed against.

So Casey is working in a supermarket when in walks the unbelievably goodlooking ripped alien Lorn, masquerading as a character out of The Matrix. He bonds with her instantly and whisks her off her feet before they’ve even left the checkout isle.

They travel back to his planet where he then persuades her to share her love around in order to save his race. What can a girl do? She must soldier on and overcome her prudish ways.

This was mostly pure alien smut with not much of a plot and a lot of inner dialogue. It was pretty hot. I would class this as MMF with no BDSM elements.

I enjoyed it but the part where Casey runs away irked me. She is captured, returned to her husbands then spanked for running away. It felt a bit of an add on to me. I also felt she was a bit manipulated into consenting to multiple partners. But then again, how much persuading would you actually need to keep mating hot aliens?

It ticked all the boxes.

My first book by this author and most certainly not my last! Casey's Warriors is the first book in the Bondmates series and is a sci fi erotic romance that features ménage . This is a fast paced and incredibly sexy read that will leave readers breathless and wanting an alien ( or two) of their own!
Casey is just an ordinary girl but her life is about to become extraordinary ! A disaster that sees planes crashing to the ground leaves all of earth terrified of what could happen next. The last thing Casey's is expecting is a huge muscular hunk to turn up and say she's meant for him oh and by the way he's an alien! Casey may be smitten but she's no pushover and if Lorn wants to get in her pants then he will have to work at it! The only problem is when he's around her libido goes into overdrive.
Lorn comes from a galaxy where women are desperately needed and as they have so many men he has already pledged his heart to another male Nast. Convincing Casey of his true feelings for her will be hard enough but can he hope that she will embrace his lover Nast as well? Theirs is a desperate society where everything Casey believes to be normal will be turned on its head. Getting her first kiss is only the start of the adventure and Casey had better buckle up because it's going to be an awfully bumpy ride!
Oo what a humdinger of a story! I've read a few books in a similar vein with alien warriors needing females but not many are so well written as this book. I admit there is a lot of sexual activity in it ( maybe a tad more than I wanted) but it's an erotic romance so many readers would hope for that. As for me I adore the world building and although I thought the plot could have been expanded I do take on board that it's the first in the series with much more to come.
Will I read more? That's a definite yes and I notice that the author has left the way open for either Casey's sister to get her own warrior or two but I'm hoping that her quiet shy friend Paige will be next as there's a certain tortured alien who sounds utterly delicious!

Despite the presence of many of my favorite plot devices in one of my favorite genres (erotic sci/fi) by one of my favorite authors, this book fell flat for me, failing to deliver on what had been such a delightful promise.

The world of Kadothia and Kadothian warriors could have been so much more interesting if it had been explored more deeply. Instead, and I do hate to admit this, there was far too much emphasis on sex to drive the plot. We get to know a little about our three protagonists, Casey, Lorn, and Nast, but not enough for me to become invested in their relationship. This is a case of lust equates to love and I just didn't buy into it. Casey capitulates far too quickly and, despite a few words to the contrary, agrees to leave her home and family far too easily. Casey says she misses her family, but her actions don't really bear that out.

Dialog was on the cheesy side with numerous heartfelt declarations of love that didn't ring true and, although I did finish the book, I found it very easy to put down and difficult to stick with. It is really too bad because this book had so much promise.

Boring doesn't cover it. It's boring, stupid, two dimensional, totally lacking coherence.
I dragged myself up to 80%, then I couldn't really keep reading.

And you know what the culture bashing is pretty offensive. I'm totally for the full sexual freedom, and this book managed to make me a traditionalist. There's not one culture that it's better than other, and any time you say something is stupid/barbaric/wrong, you are making a pretty strong racist argument. And there were plenty of 'racist' arguments here. Seeing it in such a stupid and incredibly unbelievable book was really bad, I'm not kidding.

On the less personal side, contrary to what you might read, this book has no plot, no real plot as there are no real characters, no romance at all, no real reactions. There was unnatural lust, unnatural as in drug induced (it's not a moral judgement), and nothing else. No, I'm wrong. There are plenty of cliché.

Ummm

I hate to give low ratings, but I was very disappointed. Although the idea was good, the execution was horrible. Too much cursing at inappropriate times. The heroine was an idiot and very two-dimensional. Literally unintelligent and naive. I mean she believed the aliens were European models. Really.... Then she kept repeating that she was not used to their world or sexually free customs but had no problems with being intimate four strangers at the same time. There was no real description of the alien race except the females ruled, they had psychic abilities, they were highly sensual, and were free with their affections. It was a just a huge letdown.

2.5 RATING- I know I'm in the minority of my friends here but wow, this took me a long time to finish. It just went on and on and on. I lost interest after a while but did finish finally.

When a planet warriors are in need of mates, they’ve had to make alliances with other worlds near by. The influx of unbonded males is so huge the need for females has been exhausted on the other worlds.

Unbonded males are always in danger from a wicked race of females, intent only to keep them as slaves until their unwarded mind snaps. These women have physic terrorizing down to a science. If that wasn’t enough, the unbounded males risk going into madness if they are bonded soon.

Casey had a good family and friends and is loved well, but its just not enough for her. In her minds eye she just felt something was missing. By the time the Event happens and things are somewhat settled, life moves on and Casey and her friends are just in a routine. All up until a group of sex on legs moves in next door.

Word gets back to Kadothian that Earth women are compatible with their males, also basic information about the “weirdness” of males and Females on Earth are. How they act, how women are treated and how they view things. Lorn is told in order to have a chance with the female meant for him, he’s needs to meet and get to know her without his blood brother.

I really enjoyed this story, the only snag in the story for me was Casey and her attitude, made me want to strangle her a few times. Yep not saying anymore. Grab it read. Enjoy!

So I have been trying out alien books because I freaking love the Ice Planet Barbarians series by Ruby Dixon. I can not get enough of those big blue horned alien men. But so far I have not been able to find any that I enjoy.

If I am going to read an alien smut book then I need it to be funny. I can't seriously read an alien book, I just can't. This book was looking like it was going to be kinda funny. Lorn came to Earth and he didn't know Earth sayings, he claimed to be a model, living with a house full of male model (which were actually other aliens) and he was just adorkably awkward. I loved it. Then he took Casey to his ship and shit started to get real... I did not want to read a bazillion pages about what was wrong on his planet and why Lorn needed her to bond with him and a bunch of other males. I did not want to read about their alien politics. I also got super tired of them explaining the bond thing. I feel like it was explain waaaaay too much.

The point of that little rant is that this book did not do it for me. The smut wasn't even all that hot. Sometimes it was but for the most part ehhh... Mainly because you had to hear Casey reject her desire. Bitch you were turned on my multiple men. Own up to that shit. Just because thats not how Earth does it doesn't mean you can't be honest with yourself and enjoy some freaking alien bonding.

Literally all of the conflict in this book is dependent upon Casey being a fucking dumbass. I mean, it also doesn't help that Lorn literally kidnaps her and explains nothing to her.

Can I just say that I never want to see someone refer to a woman's arousal as "nectar"again.

And I was so tired of Casey constantly saying "Only morally impure women love more than one man!!!!!" Like are you fucking serious. I get not being sure about being in a polyamorous relationship but literally every time it's mentioned that Casey should bond Nast as well, it's just "How dare you ask me to also love someone else!!!! What do you think I am, a whore????"

Also, there's a non-consensual spanking scene at the end which was gross. Lorn and Nast are punishing Casey for being a dumbass by having Nast hit her as hard as he can. Spanking can be fun but it's really fucked up when Casey is crying and screaming at Nast to stop hitting her and all Nast thinks is that he needs to hit her hard enough to bruise.

This book was more annoying than entertaining and I wouldn't recommend it.

"Wait... Did I pick up a sci-fi novel? I thought this was erotica..."

I was sucked into the beginning chapter of this, loving the familiarity of a local setting. The end-of-days, disaster movie urgency was fantastic!

As I read through the development of this matriarchal society of interplanetary beings, my reactions were generally positive. The worlds were well-developed and the characters felt genuine. Even the things that made me laugh with campy sci-fi movie glee (vibrating purple penises) felt appropriate to the environment that has been created.

I was not expecting bisexuality in the two male characters, simply because it isn't something I generally seek out. It was not distasteful, but not my cup of tea either. I found myself skimming a lot of the romantic relationship between the two, though I think the stories work well because of it.

Will definitely be looking forward to the next installments.

Very nice beginning to a new paranormal series. Loved Lorn and Nast.
The editing needed to be better and the cover of the book didn't look the least like Lorn and Nast. That bugged me. I realize that it would be difficult to find models to look like the guys but something else could have been done like just showing their bodies and not their heads.
I am eager to read about the other characters.
My big complaint was
