Interesting read . Very intriguing .

Its the story of Chandni , a TV journalist who is afraid of fire and has panic attacks in which she sees dead people drowning in blood all around her .

Meanwhile we also get to know about Devahuti , child widow of the period 1100's . She is lively and ever daring child , who wants to go to Nalanda University so she could learn and read like all other monks there . Unfortunately she is a girl , and it is itself a crime . Her whole story is wonderful , I could not put the book down , I was hooked .
How and why she is burnt alive , Why is Dharma gunj ( Library in Nalanda ) was burnt to ashes ? Who was Bhaktiyar Khilji ? These questions keep the book moving forward .

Chandni , on the other hand has got the opportunity to meet Obama and her cameraman Ehsaan accompanies her . Abhinav , C's boyfriend a defence guy finds Ehsaan suspicious . Abhinav keeps warning Chandni to be careful with Ehsaan , he has got a thing for hunches and he is proved right when Chandni gets trapped in a terrorist trap , unknown country , no one to help , and was left to die in fire .

I like this whole concept of before life , the other life , Author carefully linked the past and present , similar in different ways . I enjoyed reading this . It was almost 5 stars except for all that mantras thing and the ending was quite predictable , I wish the climax was as exciting as the rest of the book .

I picked up this book because its story is related to Nalanda University. I can't put my finger on it, but something about this book bugs me. It seemed to me that the author couldn't quite decide about the language of the book. Usually, books like these use different languages for different time periods. But in this book, it's a jumble. When reading a good story, the reader is immersed in the story and should not be aware that it's fictitious. But that didn't happen to me when reading this book, not for the lack of trying. I was always aware that I'm reading a book. Something about the book seemed off. Like the author seemed to be trying too much to draw a parallel between Devahuti and Chandni's stories. The point that the actions of people will be perceived differently in different time periods is valid, but the author's explanation didn't seem strong enough to support that. I am a person from Chandni's era and am not convinced why the people of Devahuti's time thought she's committing crimes.
I read books to escape my reality briefly and this book didn't help with that. On the whole, it isn't a bad book, but I can't say I liked it.

I was given a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
A Fast Paced Read, Packed with suspence, history !
Its a gripping page turner with twists and turns.
The book traces the events that take place in the Nalanda.
It contains facts about history and the curse that it carried.

The story revolves around two women - Devahutti and Chandni .

Devahutti , a child girl , infamous , living on the outskirts of Nalanda University around 1197 AD.
She liked making friends with strangers, especially men. She loved talking to the students, asking them to share their knowledge with her.The villagers considered as evil spirit.

Girls were considered outcasts at places where intelligent discussions ,debates took place. All they had to do was take care of the home, hearth, husband and bear children.

Talking about the present story- Chandni is a TV journalist.
Dr. APJ ABDUL KALAM ,had proposed an idea of reviving the Nalanda University.
She had to file her story .
Could there be a link with Nalanda in the bygone era that cast its shadow once again?
What was lingering in the shadows of those red brick structures?
It was the guilt and the sins of the past lives that followed on her.

Abhinav remains devoid of love and attention. He has soft feelings for Chandni and loves her.
When her Baba returned he told her the entire story about the The Curse of Nalanda and how it carried in the same way.

Will the curse be removed ? Is there any connection between Devahutti and Chandni?
To know more about the story , GO & BUY THE BOOK .

Quote from the book:-

Every life is journey ,and you cannot reach the end until you have touched and experienced all the stations on the way.

The story is fascinating because it is based on Nalanda University of yester years, when its glory was its peak.
The author has written this so well, very descriptive, intelligent, full of incredible imagination. All that combined really draws you right into the story, and holds you there until the very end.

I recommend this book to everyone.
Overall its a nice read :- 5/5 stars. ✔

The title promises a page turner but returns a damp squib. Nalanda bears no impact on the plot whatsoever. However, the pages fleshing out the (fictitious) historical incidents at Nalanda are well-written, which ironically is the only silver-lining. The auxiliary characters in the book seem vague and fraught with loose ends. The story abounds with unrealistic and frivolous dialogues by the male protagonist, an IPS officer nonetheless. The book somehow found new usage for words of the English language which i am not sure how to feel about.

Skip the book if you can.

The curse of the nalanda, has been able to hold the attention of readers quite well till mid section, after which the story becomes predictable. While the author has been able to give a gripping start to her story but fails to end the story with the same interest. The ends seems a bit in haste.

The story revolves around the boyfriend and a girlfriend, known as Chandini and Abhishek.
As their story revelas twists and turns, slowly shedding light on their personal and past (life before birth) lives, Chandini reveals old grudges, new saviors, and horrific tales of a man who’d go to any length to prove his masculinity and existence. Unfortunately, the similar situation arises in her current life too.

The language used in this book by the author is very simple yet creative. It's fast paced and one should be able to finish the book in just couple of sittings.

Please visit http://guptakaushal.blogspot.in/2016/... to read the complete review of the book.

Overall, the story is interesting, but a bit predictable in some parts and I guess that is because of the relevancy it has with the current situation. The emotions depicted by the characters are true to the situation and there is nothing overdone.

The writing of the book is very simple and can be read by anyone and most of you will be able to finish around 190 pages in just two sittings. There is attention to detail in the description of the characters and their surroundings and there is no force connect, one should appreciate the genuine effort put in.
