Cape Wrath, Scotland, November 1847.

Bruce McGunn, laird of Wrath in the far North of Scotland, is as brutal and unforgiving as his land. Discharged from the army, haunted by the spectres of his fallen comrades and convinced he is going mad, he is running out of time to save his estate from the machinations of Cameron McRae, heir to the McGunn's ancestral enemies.

When the clipper carrying McRae’s new bride docks at Wrath harbour, McGunn decides to hold the woman to ransom and use her to get more time to repay his debts. However, far from the spoilt heiress he expected, Rose is genuine and funny - a ray of sunshine in the long winter that has become his life. She is also determined to escape.

As Rose runs away to be reunited with her husband, she discovers there is a sinister side to the dazzlingly handsome aristocrat she married after a whirlwind romance. Why was Cameron so desperate to get her father's military journal? Why did he insist on keeping their wedding a secret? She is even more confused when Bruce catches up with her and she starts to feel irresistibly attracted to him. Soon she risks her marriage to help Bruce find the truth about his past and solve the mystery of the brutal murders committed on his land. Will her love be enough to heal his haunted heart?

Picks up directly where book 1 leaves off.

Determined to leave Wrath Lodge and it's borish owner, Rose plots a means of escape. She plans to be reunited with her husband at Westmore and this show everyone around Wrath that he is not the villanous thug they all think he is.

A nice touch to the book is the time McGunn spends with Rose away from his estate. We get see more of the man and less of the 'brute' and a gripping twist to his family history.

Thankfully book 3 is out so I dont have to wait too long to read the conclusion of Rose & McGunn's enchanting story.

You must read book one, The Dreamcatcher, before this exciting continuation.
Beginning immediately following the previous book, Lord Gunn is not yet aware of Rose's escape attempt.
This installment is tense and action filled with bandits and bankers to thwart, a grusome, torturing killer on the loose, and possibly a duel of honor on the horizon.

Much is discovered while other questions arise. Truth, while difficult to digest, cannot be ignored. Past secrets and associations return to dredge up memories forgotten and unclear.
Very fast paced with impeccable description, the reader is swept along with this ever developing tale.

Blue Bonnets is the next exciting installment in the Dancing For The Devil Trilogy and what an exciting rollercoaster this series is turning out to be. Not only do we have historical romance but we also have suspense and mystery too! The book immediately starts into the story again, taking up where book 2 left off so it is essential that you read book 1 in the series.

Rose and Bruce still have that love / hate thing going on with the desire for one another just oozing out of them! Things do hot up a little for them in this book but frustratingly so and the sexual tension is almost palpable.

Bruce is on a mission to save Rose when she stupidly decides to try to find her husband herself and gets into all sorts of trouble. There is no doubt that she has an incredibly strong personality as does Bruce and this is where a lot of the difficulty lies. They are actually more alike than they care to admit. Rose sees first hand Bruce's vulnerabilities in this book and her kind and caring nature kick in rather than her fight or flight mode and she helps Bruce. Rose is beginning to have her eyes opened to the reality of who her husband is and soon realises that Bruce has been right all along. She also realises that Bruce is more than she thought he was.

I love Marie Laval's writing and the way she has incorporated little clues to the mysteries within Bruce and Rose's story. Its like a literary treasure hunt! Some things are definitely starting to add up not only for Bruce and Rose but for the reader too! The secrets held within Rose's father's military journal hold the clue to Bruce's past. There is much excitement within this book and Rose and Bruce are constantly in peril with danger coming at them at every turn. It seems Cameron McRae will stop at nothing to protect family secrets and to stop Rose from destroying his plans with another woman.

I cannot wait to read book 3!!

Blue Bonnets starts off with a little recap of The Dream Catcher, then chapter one starts right where we left The Dream Catcher. Unbeknown to McGunn Rose has escaped and she is now on McRae Land. Hoping that in a day or two she will be reunited with Cameron. But Rose soon starts to question why he kept their marriage a secret and Why was he so desperate to get her father's military journal. Bruce soon catches up with her after finding her in abandoned cottage they are forced to stay there with blizzard storms and Rose she starts to feel attracted to him. Soon she risks her marriage to help Bruce find the truth about his past and solve the mystery of the brutal murders committed on his land. Where we see more of Bruce has a person rather than a bully boy.
What a rollercoaster of a journey Rose is going through, I am totally gripped the more I read the more I am intrigued with the story wanting to know more. With twists and turns, lies and deceit building up an exciting romance story. This story has left me wanted to know more I seriously can't wait to read the third installment.
I highly recommend this giving it 4.5 stars.
