Great story about two former lovers who find themselves in each other's lives again after 10 years. It's soon obvious that they still love each other. Wonderful quick beautiful story.
Need a light and easy-reading romance to take to the beach? Here is your ray of reading sunshine, not too heavy, not too deep, as two former lovers find themselves working together to create the perfect wedding for a young and rising star.
Liz has her dream job, a primo wedding venue that will hopefully bring on Hollywood’s rich and famous. With only weeks before the grand opening, Liz’s past comes strolling in, needing a hush-hush wedding for his niece, in only two weeks. Can Liz and Jason leave their own failed romance behind to create a magical moment for another or could this be the spark that reignites the inferno they left behind?
The bells are ringing and the waves are gently lapping toward the shore in Lucy Kevin’s THE BEACH WEDDING and it is the perfect read when something light and airy is exactly what is needed! Great characters, a chance to snag the one that walked away and love, sigh…
Series: Married in Malibu - Book 1 Publisher: Oak Press, LLC (February 3, 2016) Publication Date: February 3, 2016 Genre: Contemporary Romance Available from: Amazon | Barnes & Noble For Reviews, Giveaways, Fabulous Book News, follow: http://tometender.blogspot.com
This was a very short book. It probably took me no longer than an hour to read. For that reason, it was hard to connect with the characters so I do feel like there was a little something missing. Also, as stated this is a clean book, so all sexy scenes are behind closed doors.
Liz Wilkinson has been hired to get new venture Married in Malibu off the ground. Liz is looking for celebrities that may want to use their services when she's contacted by writer Jason Lomax. Jason's niece is a hot movie star who wants to find a low-key place to get married. The only problem - Jason is Liz's ex-fiance, who she left years ago without an explanation. While arranging Jason's niece's wedding, he also works to woo Liz back into his life. Light and fluffy book - I prefer the Bella Andre books to the Lucy Kevin books.
The story was a bit bland and the characters very one dimensional, the preperations for the wedding were interesting and the book was written well but i found it unbeleivable..... Firstly the Venue... I really dont beleive a lot of celebs would use it... maybe ordinary people but the rich and famouse tend to like having their own unique weddings, Dress ect not leaving it up to a venue.... It would have been more beleivable as a wedding planner... and the way things just fell together and flowed was too easy.... it wasnt bad, but not good either..... 2.5 down the middle
The Beach Wedding from Lucy Kevin is the first book in the Married in Malibu series. Liz is the new boss of the weeding venue Married in Malibu. When Jason a bestselling author comes to her to arrange a weeding for his famous niece at this venue, Liz is shocked. Ten years ago, she and Jason were supposed to get married, but the wedding was canceled. Working closely together is not easy for both of them and slowly they start falling for each other again.
I started reading this book with little to no expectations. And it turned out really well. The whole story is interesting. The characters are all briefly introduced. I'm sure that the other books are about each of them. I can't really tell if I like the characters as we do not read a lot about them. Liz is hardworking and passionate. But when it is about her personally, she panics and runs. Jason is a loving man. He loves Liz and his niece with all his heart. This is a book where the lady runs and not the man! This should be noted somewhere! Unfortunately, I could not engage with the characters and the story very well.
The book is really short! Suddenly I was at the end and did not know how that happened. The story flowed by. A very light and romantic book. Perfect for cozy days. It is a really good book and I would love to read the next book in the series. The rating is more like a 3.5 rating.
What kind of celebrity is going to get married at a venue called "Married in Malibu"?
Needless to say, this book was a giant cheeseball although I halfway expected it to be. I didn't care much for the heroine. She played the martyr ten years ago when she ended their relationship and I couldn't find it in me to feel sorry for her. Not much background was given on the hero other than he's a famous author and we should be impressed. I didn't feel a spark between the two which made the majority of this story boring for me. I didn't care one way or another if they ended up back together. The author tries to sprinkle in some interest with the other characters who I assume will be getting their own books, but I'm not feeling it.
A few words occurred to me while reading this book. Drivel, trite, and boring. If it had been any longer, I would have stopped reading. It was filled with platitudes and false sincerity, and it was so formulaic, I found it insulting. I felt no connection with any of the characters, which is unfortunate because the setup for sequels was obvious, but it held no interest for me. Liz was the most aggravating character and her actions made no sense to me. It was difficult to feel any sympathy for her. The only part worth reading was the wedding vows, the only part of the book that seemed sincere and genuine. Even though I received this as an ARC from the author, I cannot recommend it.
3.5 Second Chances Stars So I have read Married in Malibu 2-4 … and somehow skipped this book ahhaa HOWWWWW. So for me reading book 1 in the WRONG order was really just discovering all the people in book 2-4 in a whole fresh light. So I was oooohhhing and ahhhing about who was gunna get matched up and how innocent and amazing everyone was. This book however is not about NEW love it is about SECOND chances.. nooow I am not a fan of second chance romances because “people never change” . I may be judging this book too harshly because Liz’s backstory does not match the Liz in all the other books. Liz is never painted as someone who is immature or one to let the man pursue his dreams over her and such. The book is cheesier than the others in the series and I do also think it was longer. The book does give an AHHHH HEA at the end so if you get through the book and your vomit sugar and OTP glitter just take a breath because the rest of the books are better!
Liz left Jason with no explanation. Both heartbroken, they continue on with their dreams. 10 years later, Liz is in charge of a wedding company and Jason a world famous writer. They meet again when Jason approaches Liz to coordinate a wedding for his famous niece. She agrees. Liz's explanation for why she left Jason made sense, but I also think if they had sat down and really discussed it, they might have been able to work it out. (They were both around 21). Either why, neither forgot the other or stopped loving each other. This was an okay 2nd chance story. I didn't understand Liz's hesitation this second time, but she eventually got out of her own head. I thought both characters were fairly one-dimensional and I never really got to "know" them. I read this for Romance-opoly Summer square moon track.
It's been years since I read something from this author. Lucy Kevin is the pen name of Bella Andre for "clean" romance that's more of sweet and heartwarming, than sexy and steamy.
This was really light and fast-paced; I loved the story and how the characters, especially the supporting ones, were introduced. Planning weddings is exciting and stressful, but they made it work.
I have a feeling I'm going to have a reading marathon again.
I honestly can’t believe that I made it through this book. I wanted to stop quite a few times but I kept going in the hopes of it getting better. The characters were two dimensional and childlike. The storyline was predictable with not much going on.
The two main characters had a petty romance where the woman felt smothered by the man. Because of this, she left him at the alter. After 10 years of not seeing each other, he shows up at her work and asks for help putting on a wedding for his niece. Two weeks after that he asks her to marry him, and she runs away. The next day she brings a surprise wedding to his house and they get married.
This book is full of back and forth thoughts from the woman’s perspective.
“Should I let him into my life again?”
“No, he smothers me with too much love.”
“But he’s hot. And famous.”
“But he doesn’t give me space.”
“But he’s hot.”
Truly, that was a large percentage of this book.
Give it a try if you’re fond of shallow romances and characters who have fake personalities and no true motivation.

If you love Hallmark movies, you will love this book.
Liz has a new job planning celebrity weddings that are supposed to be kept most private. This is far different than the corporate job she left. She finds herself making true friends among the people she hired and actually creating relationships.
Jason is a wealthy thriller writer (God only know how that happened) whose actress-niece is getting married in a French chateau. The paparazzi is all over this. They're following her and her fiance, taking pictures, and asking questions constantly, all while she's in the throes of making a movie. With frustration, she contacts Jason to help her. He, in turn, contacts Married in Malibu and was surprised to find his long, lost love Liz at the helm.
This is the first wedding for Married in Malibu. It's a new business. They're trying to establish themselves and this secret wedding was just what they need to hit the ground running. They have two weeks to plan this extravagant wedding and keep it all secret. Of course, a member of the paparazzi shows up and is ready to blow the lid off the whole thing.
I wish I could say I loved this book. I didn't. I thought there were far too many details about the secondary characters and frankly, I didn't care about any of them until the epilogue, which may have me reading the second book in the series. I didn't feel any real tension between Liz and Jason and the ending was predictable. The plot was steady and the writing was excellent. It's a sweet, clean romance with zero heat or spice. Personally, I like a little spice in my romances, but that's just me.
As I said, this reads like a Hallmark movie. That isn't a bad thing. I like them, too. I guess I was just hoping for a bit more in a book. Overall, it's a good read.
I had planned on just reading a chapter before bedtime. They next thing I knew, I had reached the end. But I didn't want it to end. The only way that happens for me is if the book flows well, has great characters, and a plot that not only makes sense but develops throughout the story. Liz Wilkinson has been hired to run the new wedding venue in Malibu. She hires talented people that not only complement the business but they add to the story. With weeks still to go before the grand opening, her past knocks on her door. Her ex-fiancee, Jason's niece needs a new secret venue before she looses it. Watching them pull off a fancy wedding in two weeks was awe inspiring. The only problem--Liz and Jason will have to work closely to pull it off. Liz and Jason will have to "pretend" to be the couple to through off the press. Liz and Jason will have to deal with the past. There isn't a lot of HOT in The Beach Wedding but there is a lot of sweet. It is a very believable cute book. There wasn't too little. There wasn't too much. It was just right.
Reads a lot like an Old Skool Harlequin - little melodramatic, improbably tropes - 'I broke our engagement because I was holding you back', 'pretend engagement', etc etc. Read was Ok, but their romance and relationship had happened 10 years previously and they just picked it up again, so did not really feel the connection between them, sex all happened behind closed doors. Not a wow and I was not overly charmed. Found Heroine very annoying at times. 2.5 Stars

This book was unimaginative, uninteresting and unrealistic. The characters were not well developed, the idea was boring and far fetched and the style was drab.
The Beach Wedding Married In Malibu 1 Lucy Kevin ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Sometimes after a run of hot, steamy reads, a sweet romance is perfect, and The Beach Wedding is just that. I’ve kind of read these around the wrong way, I started book 3, then worked back to this one, and now I’m kicking myself I didn’t start at the beginning… Liz and Jason are the perfect couple.
When Liz took on running the the branch of Married in Malibu, she never thought that they would be putting a wedding together within 2 weeks for famous actresses wedding. The other huge surprise is discovering her ex is the man organising the wedding. Jason and Liz had a beautiful love 10 years earlier, but with an inner fear Liz left him weeks before their own wedding. Now the famous author is back in her life for 2 weeks but intends to get her to stay forever.
When Jason suggested Married in Malibu to his famous niece, he never imagined that right there, he will find his own past love. After the anger and destruction of her leaving him, he now has the opportunity to attempt to win Liz back. With a trap for the paparazzi, Jason suggests they pretend to be a couple to throw them off the scent of the famous wedding. But with those fake dates, hand holding, dinners, and walks on the beach bring back the insane chemistry front and centre.
Urging on a wedding for someone you love is one thing, trying to avoid your own is something completely different. With so much baggage behind them, Jason and Liz will relive the past to find a future, they both desperately want. Without more hiccups, these two will form another Marriage in Malibu.
This is my first Lucy Kevin book and I thoroughly enjoyed it. My only frustrations were from the amount of characters that were introduced so rapidly I couldn't absorb them fast enough, and it felt like Liz put Jason through a little too much at the end.
Liz Wilkinson is thrilled with her new dream job running Married in Malibu. She hired her own team of people she knows she can trust as they plan to specialize in exclusive and private weddings for celebrities and the elite. The last person in the world Liz expects to see walk into her office just weeks before they open is the man she left ten years ago just weeks before their own wedding.
Jason Lomax is a well known author and as the guardian of his actress niece he will do whatever it takes to make sure the paparazzi are kept away. Married in Malibu advertises privacy is guaranteed. Knowing that the only woman he has ever loved runs the facility is a big factor in his choice to hire them for his niece. And just maybe he can find out why she left.
While Liz is determined to be completely professional while providing Jason's niece with the wedding of her dreams she isn't prepared for how much time she will have to spend with the man she never got over. When circumstances require them to pretend to be engaged renewed emotions and the past will crash together. Now much older and wiser will these two find the love they thought was lost forever?
10 years ago Liz left Jason without saying anything because she thought it would be better for his career. Not a day of that time has she not thought of him, she has even bought every book he wrote knowing it was the best thing to do. Now she has her dream job and Married in Malibu will open in four weeks! What she doesn't expect when she opens her office door is to see Jason on the other side! When he asks if she can pull together a wedding in two weeks, she is at first crushed, then he explains it's for his neice Amber and her fiancee Robert. Amber has become a huge star and is supposed to be getting married at the end of the year at a French Chateau. Only Amber can't stand ALL of the phone calls and paparazzi! Plus, it's now affecting Robert's work, what with his clients trying to find out all the details! Amber is afraid that by the time the wedding comes around there won't be one! Well Jason knows how that feels since Liz left two weeks before their wedding and refuses to allow that to happen! Will Liz agree to help Amber? Will Amber agree to let Liz do the wedding? What surprise will Amber receive at her wedding? What other surprises are in store for everyone? Only one way to find out, read this great story by Bella Andre to find out! 🥰🤩

Liz Wilkinson was engaged to Jason Lomax 10 years ago, but abruptly left him with no warning and has never contacted him since. She's landed a job as manager of Married in Malibu, an upscale bridal venue catering to celebrities. Two weeks before the venue is to open, Jason shows up to ask if Married in Malibu can handle his niece's wedding. His niece is an up-and-coming starlet who had planned to have her wedding at a chateau in France but is thinking of canceling the wedding due to the publicity. Jason thinks a small, quiet, secret wedding in Malibu would be ideal.
Of course, Liz and Jason have to work closely together and that rekindles the attraction they had had for each other. The story evolves as you would expect, but with a few twists.
One of the romance novel themes I really dislike is the woman dumping the man because she thinks it's best for him, and we find out by page 20 that this is exactly Liz's reasoning for running away from Jason 10 years ago.
THE BEACH WEDDING. by Lucy Kevin ....Married in Malibu book 1 Liz would be in charge of exclusive celebrity weddings, even to being able to pick her own team to work with. A job in which you read the Hollywood gossip magazines. Ten years and a ghost appears Jason her ex- boyfriend here for his niece’s wedding. He had raised her, and wanting the best for her. She was a rising movie star, and getting over whelmed with questions of her wedding. Maybe answers of why she broke off with him, and the bitterness he still felt from it. Seeing him she still wanted him to succeed and have happiness with success in his writing, They would be working together for two weeks. Could romance and love still be there. A beautiful setting, you feel like you are part of the staff. A great beginning, one can imagine the stories that will come with the celebrity aspect. Readers will love it.
Liz Wilkinson has just landed a plum job as manager of "Married in Malibu" - a high class wedding venue that will cater to the privacy and luxury needs of the rich and famous. Three weeks before the planned opening of the venue, she's shocked by the arrival of her famous ex-fiance. Jason Lomax has raised his movie star niece for the past ten years and is now looking to rescue her marriage from the paparazzi by convincing Liz to host the wedding in two weeks. Liz knows a successful event would make the reputation of the fledgling venue, so she agrees with significant reservations about working with Jason. Their break-up ten years earlier was painful for both and never explained. To keep the wedding secret, the two "pretend" to be dating again, but the feelings aren't pretend. They successfully pull of the niece's wedding, and then their own for the HEA.
In under 110 pages, we saw a lot of things happen way too quickly.
The story was meh, characters were bland, no emotional connect, weird logic, the frustration of reading a fallout caused by one person taking decision on behalf of the themself and the partner leading to a decade of heartbreak, then random fake-dating to throw things off (which wait a min, was the most illogical logic because of the timeline and timing), and how easy the blogger pap was convinced with their act or rather its justification and how quickly without barely getting to know one another again their happily ever after started again....
Nope, not it for me due to the lack of emotional depth or personality to the characters.
The MC's are tepid and bland, the story is too predictable.
Curious as to how they got a marriage license in Los Angeles county when BOTH parties must be present to purchase it.
Also, how did Jason become a Justice of the Peace in 2 weeks when they must be elected or appointed in California? Also, typically, they need a minimum of a Bachelor's degree, and some experience clerking . Not always, but most of the time. I understand creative license, but when it comes to laws, let's actually follow them.
Five minutes googling have me that basic information. I wish the author has used five minutes also.

This is a short introduction to the Married in Malibu series. I think I picked it up as a freebie. The cover declares the author's name and pen name more prominently than the actual title and I was wondering why they would need to tell us her actual name if she is using a pen name for this series. After reading it I understood this totally. I was attracted to the book because I have read some Bella Andre before and enjoyed it. But this one was sugary syrupy sweet and pretty unbelievable in it's concept. I don't mind the sweetness but the storytelling itself has put me off from reading any further in the series.
Everything about this story was beautiful. The characters, the story itself, the setting and the !i've that went into writing it. Liz is in charge of the wedding venue, Married in Malibu. When her ex-fiance shows up to book a wedding for his movie star niece, pressure is on. The venue isn't even open for business, and he wants the secret, private wedding to be heels in two weeks. The terrific staff Liz hired were up for the challenge. I couldn't put this book down. I really love sweet stories like this. Wonderful.
A corporate events planner finally lands her dream job of running a new wedding venue, Married in Malibu, only to find her first client is her former fiance looking for the perfect place to hold his niece's wedding. This book begins the Married in Malibu series and introduces all of the main employees of this venture, founded to cater to the Hollywood elite. With the added second chance at love theme, this is an enjoyable contemporary romance. I can see how the Married in Malibu staff will have a chance to grow and find romance of their own as the series develops.
