I understood Francesca and longed for Graham to come back to her. It's one of those rare books you can't return to the library because it becomes a part of you. Years later I noticed the author's dedication at the front of the book and instantly elements in the story took on new meaning. It was dedicated to Joan Arbus, well known art photographer.
