Romance author, dialysis warrior, furkid mom, and Best Fiends addict. Lover of coffee, 80’s music, and all things romance. During the day she carves out writing time in between trips to the back door as doorman to her four-legged furry child. At night after spending quality time with her husband she chips away at her never-ending TBR pile.
I had the pleasure of reading Saving Cassie as an ARC, and I absolutely loved it. From the very beginning, I fell in love with Cassie's character, as she reminds me a bit of myself.
When Cassie moves back home, she wants to rebuild her life. She works in Gram's bookstore, spends time with her old pal, James, and his wife and daughter, and develops a love-hate relationship with her "pain-in-the-ass deputy." Things take a sharp turn when old demons from her past start to reveal themselves in various ways.
Cassie goes through many obstacles within the story, whether it's dealing with the loss of her Gram, dealing with her repressed sexual tension for the deputy, or dealing with the secrets she's kept bottled up from everyone.
Logan, the amazingly sweet yet uptight deputy, knows in his heart he must protect Cassie. Throughout the story, I found myself falling in love with his character.
The story is upbeat, sweet, and keeps you looking over your shoulder when reading at night. Most definitely a must-read.

I had Saving Cassie at the top of my TBR list for a few months before I finally managed to sit down and read it. I'm glad I finally made the time! L.A. Remenicky lends a unique spin to the paranormal romance genre with a tale that combines ghosts, a demon, and destiny. Cassie and Logan share an immediate connection that is gradually explained as the storyline flows along. There are enough subplots and twists to keep your attention. I'm looking forward to reading more of what Remenicky has to offer!
Saving Cassie was not what I expected it to be. Not that it's a not bad thing. When I 1st started this story I thought it was a mystery. It ended up being a mystery, paranormal, romance kind of story. Yea, crazy I know!
We start off with Cassie AKA Reggie getting ready to turn 6. The night before her birthday her parents are brutally murdered in front of her. She ends up going to live with her grandmother. Now, shes all grown up & her grandmother has died. Cassie has packed up her live in NYC & it headed back to take over her grandmothers bookstore.
On her way back into town Cassie starts to get emotional. She loved her grandmother with all her heart. Cassie doesn't pay much attention while she's driving. That is until the new deputy Logan pulls her over for speeding. These 2 dislike each other INSTANTLY !! Cassie can not wait to get home and tell her only family member her childhood best friend Sheriff James how much of a tool his new deputy is.
James & Cassie have been best friends forever. They have a brother/sister relationship. I really did enjoy the relationship Cassie had with James & his wife Marie and daughter. We learn quick that Marie want to hook up Logan & Cassie. But, BOTH of them are getting over past relationships that have literally broken them. They are trying to move past that.
Cassie notices right off the bat that something is not right at her grandmothers house. Every time she turns around her front door is wide open, her keys are moved into random places like the refrigerator. One minute all her clothes are all over the room. Then, they're put away. It's all crazy weird stuff that she thought she was going crazy. Until she got a death threat.
James vows to keep her safe. When Cassie refuses to move in with him & Marie. James comes up with the next best solution. Against all Cassie's wishes Logan moves in with her so she isn't alone. They start to get along more & more. Logan definitely notices the weird things that Cassie has been saying.
We learn rather quickly that they are being haunted by 2 different ghosts. The main one is the ghost of the guy who killed Cassie's parents. We learn he was a cult leader and when her parents left the cult he killed them shortly after. Those details I am not going to give away. The other ghost/spirit in the house is Cassie's grandma. She is around to warn & try and protect them. Grandma is also around to let them know it's OK to open their heart.
Over the next couple weeks James & Logan are fighting to save Cassie's life. None of them know what to expect. They don't know where the danger will come next. All they know is they must do it together or none of them will survive!
I did like this book for a lot of different reasons. I really loved all of the characters in this book. Cassie has been through A LOT . My heart broke for her from the very beginning. She has been through more stuff then most people will ever go through. Yet, she is still a very strong, independent woman. She loves her friends & would do anything for them. Logan also has had a lot of stuff dealt to him. They weren't all good either. James & Marie I adore. They have a great marriage. James loves Cassie as a sister. I love how Marie isn't jealous of Cassie & James. Marie and Cassie have a great relationship.
There was a few things I didn't like. At times I felt that the story was rushed. I felt like some of the story lines could of had a little bit more. There was 3 POV in the book. Cassie, Logan & the ghosts. They bounced back & forth and 1/2 the time I'd get confused and wasn't sure what was going on. There could of been more from the ghosts. But, if there wasn't any POV from them it wouldn't of been a huge miss. Other then that, I really enjoyed this story & really glad I read it.
I recently finished this title that I came across by L.A. Remenicky. The title was Saving Cassie and its the first book in the Fairfield Corners series. The premise of the story is that a young woman with a hugely traumatic past has to relocate back home after the death of her beloved grandmother. As she leaves the lights of the city of New York where she was recently attacked, she starts to experience some very strange activity in her childhood home. The activity begins to escalate until it becomes a full blown problem complete with paranormal events and small town angst. You are probably wondering what I thought of the installment (insert shoulder shrug here), as a blogger I felt compelled to finish off the story so that I could see if there were any redemptive qualities that I could at least reference. The thing about the story was that it seemed as if it was a great outline for a story without the added layers of depth to the characters, Cassie was sort of a dual personality and some of the things that she did were slightly over the top and while it was in order to stay true to who she was as a person there was an element where some of the things she did or said were just not enough to keep me entertained. The plot was good, it was the reintroduction of paranormal events back to the town of Fairfield Corners, but even there it would have been nice to learn more about the town or to come to understand a bit better the feelings of Cassie. Marie the wife of Cassie's longtime friend/honorary brother is a very patient woman, because while the things that Cassie does are all about Cassie, they are actually really disrespectful to her friend and his wife, just to get a rise out of him and to make him blush over not really wanting to show public displays of affection. Again, its not a bad story but it would be on a Lifetime spectrum, if you could choose between Lifetime and Oxygen networks the odds of you choosing Lifetime first are minimal at best. Remenicky has the bones for what could be a great story, I think in the end if it were tweaked and developed a bit more, where we could see the layers and depth of the deputy and maybe not introduce such a close childhood friend at the tail end of the book. Possibly try to bring in more disbelief about the presence of the paranormal activity without stating the obvious and avoiding the reuse of certain sentence structures you could definitely have your hands on a book similar to say the almost a witch series. The thing is please do not be discouraged by this, I respect how hard it can be to take all of these great ideas and thoughts and try to translate them into something that a reader can get the full picture of. So if you ever have a bit of time on your hands and wanted to re-work this one, I would be first in line to beta read. Out of a possible 5 stars I am going to give this one 2, but that is only because there were a couple of places where your editor skipped over the right use of tense and it made it harder for me to get through the chapters. Just the same it has great potential. Happy reading!!!!!

Saving Cassie by LA Remenicky was a very hard read for me to try and categorize. The only word that I can describe it with is different. This book is not your typical read. It takes you on a roller coaster ride and the constant is romance or rather, love. There is mystery, suspense, tragedy, love, anger, sadness, and so much more. This book is filled with different emotions and it will hit you one at a time or all at the same time. I was up at some moments then crashed hard in the next. Cassie "Reggie" Holt witnessed her parents being murdered as a young girl in the prologue. The story starts ten years later when Cassie is an adult and moves back to her hometown to take over her Grandmother's bookstore that was left to her. She is sad because the circumstances surrounding her return are glum. She misses her Grandmother and the only family she has left is her best friend Sheriff James Marsten and his little family. She meets Deputy Logan Miller when she is on her way to her Grandmothers house and they instantly dislike each other. Strange things start to happen to Cassie and it feels like she is either going mad or bad luck prone. She meets up with Logan again at a town celebration and she is attracted to him and him to her. They both get defensive and make rude comments, but the sparks are still there and the attraction hard to ignore. Logan has been dreaming since he was nine years old about Cassie and didn't know it was her she dreamt of until he came close to losing her and that her nickname was Reggie. Cassie has a past that she wasn't too proud of and hides the things that happened to her, until she receives a phone call from a friend back in the city concerning that problem. She ends up coming clean to both James, her best friend, and Logan in order to feel better about having them follow her around. At this point, is where I got confused and become indecisive about the story. It alternates from three different POV's and at times becomes hard to understand which is which because the musings are all different. At times it will switch to Logan's and at others Cassie's and at the oddest intervals a third POV from an evil presence. There were so many questions floating through my mind and they are not answered until the very end of the book. There wasn't much of a buildup to the ending of the story and I felt like I was robbed emotionally because the book felt rushed at times. I, however, will overlook most of these because the love story between Logan and Cassie is sincere and endearing. To have been through that kind of hell that Cassie went through is heart wrenching and to deal with it alone is heart breaking. There was a surprise from Cassie's past and I did not see that one coming. With that said I give this book a 4 because the paranormal side of it was reached and the romance side as well. :)
Saving Cassie is a suspenseful romance laced with paranormal. The prologue was intense and hooked me into the the story, I couldn't stop reading, desperately needing to know what would happen next.
The night before Cassie's sixth birthday, her parents where brutally murdered and she went to live with her Grandma. Years later, her Grandma has passed and she returns home to live in her Grandma's house and run her bookstore. From the moment she hits town she meets the by the book deputy, Logan. Settling in back at home, she lives next door to her best friend James, who also happens to be the Sheriff and his wife, Marie and their daughter.
Everything seems to be going well, until weird things begin to happen. Doors keep mysteriously opening by themselves, things keep being moved around the house, and then the threats begin. As the secrets of the past come to light and Cassie's own personal tragedy finally comes out in the open - turns out someone wants her dead and that someone shouldn't even be capable of inflicting anything upon anyone, cuz' he's dead.
With mounting threats and her past with her ex Matt catching up with her, Logan moves in with her to keep her safe. As Cassie tries to fight her feelings for the wonderfully sweet Logan because of deep personal pain, lines get crossed and a friendship and ultimately a great romantic relationship comes to life.
Cassie was an interesting character, she's strong and likable but there where times that she annoyed me. I didn't like her back and forth with Logan. I understood why she felt the way that she did, but I was also really frustaterd by it. And Logan, well, I pretty much loved Logan. Strong, sweet, he was a perfect match for Cassie.
All in all, this is an interesting book. I didn't know that it would go the slight supernatural route that it goes, I thought it was a contemporary romantic suspense, but the added element of crazy supernatural shenanigans totally worked for me. I hope that L.A. Remenicky goes back to this little town of cool characters, there are a few that I am curious about and would love to read their stories.

“Saving Cassie” by L.A. Remenicky 3 out of 5 stars
I loved the prologue of this book. It was mysterious, captivating, and quickly hooked me in. It set up the promise of a young child on the cusp of a paranormal adventure and I couldn’t wait to turn the page and dive in.
The story of Cassie, whose parents are murdered in front her on the eve of her sixth birthday, is one of cold reality. She returns to her beloved Fairfield Corners after the death of her Gram, who raised her, to take over the bookstore she left to her. We quickly met her future love interest in Deputy Logan Miller and the sparks fly between them. She is on her way into town and a meet up with her lifelong best friend James when Logan pulls her over and gives her a speeding ticket.
I thought it slightly ironic that the story started with a speeding ticket, because that’s how I felt about the book…like it was speeding. Often times I wanted Remenicky to slow down and take the time to go more in depth. I wanted more development of all the characters both individually and as pairs. The most well developed coupling was the friendship between Cassie and James. I enjoyed their banter and fully “bought into” their friendship. However, despite the chemistry between Cassie and Logan, their pairing felt very rushed and somewhat forced.
What at first seemed to be a paranormal adventure I couldn’t wait to read ended up feeling slightly silly. Once again, I think that there is much potential in the plot for an awesome book and great storytelling. With a little more character development and a slowed down rhythm this book could be great. If you are looking for a quick, on the surface read then this book is for you.

This was not your typical paranormal. At 6 years old, a tragedy brought Cassie to live with her Grandmother. Cassie grows up without the terrible memories of what happened to her family. L.A. Remenicky takes what seems like an ordinary story and turns it into something that was so unpredictable. A fight to save Cassie from a Demon that is haunting her dreams.
After her Grandmother’s death, Cassie leaves her life in New York City to return to Fairfield Corners to run her Grandmother’s bookstore. She is reunited with James, her best friend since childhood. You will love their funny, brother-sister like relationship and the protectiveness they feel for each other. Cassie is a strong, self-sufficient woman who has been through hell and back. She uses sarcasm to mask her insecurities but as you learn more about some of the difficulties she has had to deal with, alone, you will love her even more.
Cassie meets by-the-book, Deputy Logan Miller. They both are healing from a broken relationship and are fighting the feelings they have for each other. At first they don’t like each other very much, but when circumstances force them together, sparks fly and you won’t be able to get enough of them!
Cassie’s life is threatened, but how do you fight something you can’t see? It is a race to save Cassie from the unknown. As time goes on and she begins to remember events from the past, her life is in even more danger that begins to affect the people she loves. This was a great story that has something for everyone ~ Romance, suspense, paranormal and hot sex!

Wow - this is the first time I have read this author and it certainly won't be my last.
Cassie Holt's parents were killed in front of her when she is six years old and after their deaths she lived with her Grams. She has no recollection of that evening and to her they were killed in a car accident. When her Grandma dies she returns to the town where she grew up, but something isn't right.
Sheriff James Marsten is Cassie's best friend and will do whatever he can to protect her when he knows her life is in danger, including putting her under the protection of his deputy, Logan Miller. But soon they realize how much danger they are truly in and have no idea how to protect themselves from what is coming.
I really enjoyed this book and immediately bonded with Cassie. She has so much spunk yet has so many secrets inside of her that she is scared to share with others, as they would make her look weak. She also really tries to protect her heart which is so understandable with everything she went through but I am so happy that she was able to open it.
I thought the author did a great job with the paranormal aspect as I didn't feel like it was fake or too much with the mysterious things that took place. It led to so much self doubt but at the same time it felt realistic.
I loved both James and Logan and their relationships with Cassie. The banter and conversations were so much fun and it was really easy to see why they remained so close. I am really looking forward to another book by the author!
I have to start by saying that this book was a pleasure to read. It is also the first that I have read by L.A. Remenicky. That being said, I found her characters to be real, believeable, down to earth and charming. Cassie is a woman who has never felt "right" in her own skin and things start to happen that make absolutely no sense at all. First her parents are killed leaving her orphaned and alone with her grandmother. Then her grandmother dies in a mysterious way leaving Cassie the sole heir of the house she grew up in and her grandmother's book store. All places that mean a great deal to her, but somehow host something out to get her. Logan is a new cop who just happens to meet Cassie in typical cop fashion...she gets a speeding ticket. He has no knowledge that his boss, the sheriff, is also Cassie's best friend and closest thing to a relative she has now. Logan is immediately drawn to Cassie and it slowly reveals itself in a haunting and highly anticipated way. Logan was sent to save Cassie from the demon entity that inhabited a "friend" from her parents' past. Spooky, right? I thought so too. How do you fight a demon? How do you hold onto the love of your life and the warmth of the past? What happens when that demon is dead set on destroying not only you, but everything you thought you could ever want? Cassie knows.
I received a copy of Saving Cassie for the purpose of an honest review.
And let me say I am so glad I did. I really enjoyed Saving Cassie. I read many genres and paranormal/suspense romance is a favorite. I love the drama and the angst and of course the HEA's. Saving Cassie had it all! I loved the story line and enjoyed its uniqueness. Not that I have a problem with the sexy vampires and shifters that are in countless books but it was nice to read something different.
Cassie is a normal girl who has had her fair of tragedy in her life including the recent domestic violence attack on her and her beloved grandmothers death. She moves back home and strange things start happening. Enter in a sexy deputy and her close friends and then an apparent haunting or stalking and you have drama and angst. Logan is sexy and tied to Cassie in ways no one imagined. I do wish there was a little more character and relationship development but it wasn't significantly lacking so not a big issue at all.
All in all I really enjoyed it and give it 4 stars. I will most definitely read more from L.A. Reminicky!
Cassie leaves her life in the city when her Gram dies & leaves her bookstore to Cassie. She leaves some secrets behind her, too. Her family now consists of childhood friend, James, the sheriff, his wife Marie and their child Olivia. When she moves into Gram's house things go awry. It turns out there's a ghost, and later in the story you will find out who the ghost is. The thing that goes right for Cassie is falling in love, against her better judgment, with Logan, the deputy, a hunk of a Southern boy. I really liked this story. I like an honest to goodness ghost story, without some rational explanation such as someone else sneaking into the house and setting things up. Nope, this is a ghost story. And it's also a love story, where Cassie & Logan get it on while he's protecting her. The characters are well developed, there are a few sub-plots going on besides the main one, and there's some humorous situations also. I felt bad for poor Cassie, because everyone she's related to seems to die young and suddenly. Grandma is the only one who lives to be older, and her death is sudden, too.
From the start I did not realize this was a paranormal story which I don't read much of but I was hooked right away. The opening violent scene was terrible and then flash forward to a grown up Cassie moving back to her hometown and I couldn't stop reading. Cassie moves into her Gram's house next door to her childhood best friend Sherriff James Marsten and his family. There are many things Cassie didn't tell James about what happened to her in NYC. But as the story unfolds everything comes out. Deputy Logan Miller is as drawn to Cassie as she is to him. This was a wild right to the very end. Just do it.
Saving Cassie by L. A. Remenicky is a scify book about demons and hauntings. A girl who sees her parents murdered and then goes to live with her grandmother, years later her grandmother is killed and she moves home to take over the bookstore. This book was interesting, but I didn't connect with the characters.
I was very unimpressed. Nothing kills a book for me more than unrealistic dialogue. There was vey little fluency overall. I like the storyline, but what makes a book great is in the details. In the end it was a free kindle book, so I guess I could only expect so much.
Saving Cassie, an interesting read from LA Remenicky.. I was hooked the moment of read the first part.. the story and the characters are amazing!! Love the story... I fell in love with it!!! I'm excited to read the next book!
I really enjoyed this book from the start to the end. I couldn't put it down. I love Cassie from the beginning and when Logan came into the picture I fell in love with him :-)
I really enjoyed this book. I like the romance and the paranormal that was involved. This is a good ready read about a small town, can't wait to read the next one in the series.
This is the first book I've read from L.A. Remenicky and I loved it!!! I am reading book 2 Ragan's Song and love it right from the start!!! Highly recommend this series!!!
Home again. Cassie loved coming home to visit her beloved grandmother. She learned her love of books in the small but thriving bookstore of her grandmother's. Would it still feel like home now that she was gone? With the help of her best friend and sheriff, she'd find out. She didn't intend to include any other men in her life. The bookstore was going to be hers now.
Deputy Logan had other ideas. Although they have a rocky start, things heat up very quickly. Both men feel there is something going on that Cassie is hiding. The past she refuses to share until it comes back to haunt her demands she gets help.
The paranormal part of the book is more a hint than a heavy dose. The real problem and enemy becomes clear near the end. I would have liked a heavier hand of PNR, although the relationship was a little fast developing it was a good one. I can recommend this book and author to those who like to darken their romance and those who like some otherworldly additions. Reviewed for Words Turn Me On
This was not what I was expecting, but I was pleasantly surprised. The Author did a good job incorporating paranormal into everyday life that made it believable. (Now I am wondering about all those noises I would hear in the dark when I was younger, hehe.) I found this story easy to read as well as captivating, especially since paranormal is not my typical genre. This one I can get behind because it was not overdone! I love Gram.
Now I am going to say I adore the Main Characters name, obviously. Seriously though, Cassie was a strong woman who had confidence and sass despite the things she has one through, I love the friendship and support between her and James and how Marie seamlessly fit in. Logan - ugh, I so enjoyed this Southern Country Boy.
This little town is full of amazing people and I can't wait to read more.
This is an unusual story in some ways with a mixture of suspense, a slow burning romance, and a paranormal theme too. it could have been a bit of a mess but in fact it worked very well..
The two main characters who are old friends have their own demons from the past and neither are looking for commitment, but when trouble begins to brew they are forced together by circumstances and old feelings begin to resurface...I thought the characters were well described and the author wrote sensitively about the themes the couple were forced to face separately and together.
This is an intriguing, bittersweet story about loss, friendship, and finding love in unexpected places...I received a copy of this book from the author via A Quirky Blind Date With a Book.
