Cute book! I’m not the target demographic and that probably accounts for one star’s deduction.

I also think it probably would have been best to read the first in the series first as I assume I would have gotten an introduction to all characters. (DW III - who is he? Does he go to their school or something?)

I love how the author is a kid himself (9th grader at time of publishing) and he has some talent and sass that came through well. It was fun and I genuinely laughed a few times. And some descriptions were spot on - like the “Quicksand” concept! Brilliant and accurate.

I didn’t feel like it had a full ending, since they didn’t get back home, despite the camp being over and us knowing how all will get home. Just feels a bit unfinished.

I can not help but wonder if this book was meant to be a commentary on Bear Grylls and his outlandish stunts of survival on reality TV. Just because you see it on TV, does not mean that it is true.
