The most dangerous person in the ghetto stands 5’6”. She is kept strung out in her bedroom by her brother. If she awakens no one that has ever crossed her will ever be safe again. In 1982, a street pusher supplies the drugs for a small but powerful gang. Little does Tyrone know that soon their cozy little world will become deadly. Tyrone with his blue eyes and white skin is the last person that should be the only face seen in the deadly turf war. For now he is trying to understand his feelings for the woman that is kept strung-out in the bedroom. Is she a prisoner, why does she seem to disappear until he injects her with the finest heroin that her brother can buy? And even while the world is turning upside down for them all Tyrone does the unthinkable—he’s awakened Coco. This novella harkens back to the days of Donald Goines, Iceberg Slim and their sixties style of story-telling involving the underworld of the ghetto, drugs and violence. Pepper Pace is the pen name used by the author. Born and raised in Cincinnati, she has always enjoyed creativity. At a very young age, Pepper had a gift for art and would spend most of her spare time drawing images that she later began adding stories behind. Soon writing became more important than the illustrations and though she still loved art, it took a back seat to her real love.
Pepper wrote her first novel when she was 12 years old and had written 2 more by the age of 18. Too shy to share her work with anyone, Pepper stock piled her many stories into notebooks until she came upon Literotica.com and was compelled to share her craft.
Pepper became instantly popular and won several awards each year in which she submitted a story to the site. After receiving popular feedback, she grew in confidence and created a popular blog entitled Writing Feedback where she encourages her readers to interact with her on topics concerning, music, writing, art and pop culture, and can be contacted at her blog: pepperpacefeedback.blogspot.com/
Pepper lives in Cincinnati where many of her characters also reside.
Wow.... as usual P P you tear my heart to pieces then fill it with happiness when I read a book you've written, then I have a hard time finding another book to equal yours.
This poignant and profound story filled with suspense and action, had my heart beating so fast at times I had to stop reading for awhile to absorb each emotion that was thrown out. This wordsmith had me literally clutching my reader in anticipation as to what the next twist or turn would reveal. So much in-depth information, superbly written with a great cast of characters, the author paid meticulous attention to each characters personality and devepoment that I felt I knew them personally.
A great thought provoking suspense with realistic writing style that captivated me from the start and kept me entertained throughout. I have no hesitation what so ever in reccomending this novel. A MUST read. Thank you again P P 😁
I bought this book because I love how the author puts people together that don’t “fit” based on what society views. I wanted to see how she would weave this story, it was well written but very conflicted about the whole drug use and rape scene. I like that Coco was a badass but I could do without the other “stuff”, even though we were warned.
Unexpected, but wow! It was believable and that made it a great read. Coco and Tyrone were so damaged it was crazy. I couldn't put this book down and because it's so short I recommend you read it. You won't be disappointed! Pepper Pace is real!
Another great Pepper Pace book with wonderfully broken characters, and an ending that may leave the door open for a sequel.
Coco is haunted by her childhood of experiences with sexual abuse, neglect, drugs, prostitution and violence. To numb that pain her drug dealing brother keeps her medicated, paying Tyrone to keep her high.
Tyrone, a drug pusher, visits her almost daily and becomes curious about her and why she stays medicated and alone in her room. Over some period time, they begin to talk and Tyrone thinks he cares for her. However, something goes wrong and he hurts her mentally and physically. It is at this point that the book takes off with a plot that includes contract hits of drug kingpins, retribution by Coco, theft, and an unplanned pregnancy that changes two broken people that dont think they are capable of normal into something stronger and better than they could have ever thought was possible.
This book is available only on Etsy in case you're wondering. The hero and the heroine lived in a world filled with drugs and mafia which is not my cup of tea. I've read better books by Ms. Pace this one was okay.
Pepper does it again. interesting storyline, I totally enjoyed Coco and Tyrone adventure of getting to know one another. Boy that Coco was a tough chick. Great story!!!!
This is an urban story about Coco a women who is a junkie trying to deal with her horrible past. Tyrone is her dealer who begins to fall for her...not my favorite some grammatical errors and the story drags at times
You know when you can't tell if you really like something or like it but also finding it disturbing? These cacophony of thoughts are my lasting feelings of this book.
Wow! Just Wow!! I never thought some of the issues of this book would've been two junkies falling in love, but she's a hit woman and he raped her. Smdh this was a great ending to a insane j ourney!!
