Julia Bennett isn’t having a great day. Funding for her video game is low, her day job is sucking her dry, and to cap it all off she’s locked in a police station with the very handsome, extremely married guy she’s been avoiding at all costs.

Max Connor isn’t having a great year. He’s getting divorced, his best friend is squatting in his house, and his inappropriate crush on the IT girl is getting way out of hand. And that was before he locked the two of them in an evidence room.

Surrounded by three decades’ worth of drugs, guns, and floppy disks, Max and Julia are forced to confront the heat that lies between them with dangerous, funny, and occasionally toe-curlingly sexy results.

Going to punish me, Max? Going to make me suffer?”
“Baby, you are gonna get fucked so hard. Once you’re wet enough, I’m gonna turn you over and drill you ’til that smart mouth can’t say anything but my fucking name.”

Stop what you're doing!!

Right now!

Do you hear that?

That's the sound of BOTH of my ovaries exploding. Because sweet baby Jesus this book. THIS BOOK. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Eve Dangerfield never fails to make my ovaries happeh.

She serves up deliciously kinky alpha males and sweat inducing dirty talk, and somehow blends it together with a sizzling story and hooks her readers from beginning to finish.
You wanna play this game, sweetheart? You wanna make my dick hard and turn me into a fucking animal? Then you need to understand I can make pleasure hurt twice as bad as pain and I love making horny little brats beg for mercy, so you need to watch what you say to me. Is that clear?”

What happens when you get accidentally locked in the evidence room with a man you've been crushing on for years? A whole lot of sexy times, is what. Julia Bennett has been lusting after Max Connor for longer than she cares to admit. But he's very much hands off, and also very taken. But what she doesn't know, is Max is also as taken with her and is about to be very divorced. Forced to finally confront the feelings that have been brewing between them for years, Max and Julia give into the undeniable chemistry between them in what turns out to be some of the hottest sex scenes I've read in a while. As much as Max tries to reign in his dark desires, they come out full force with Julia and man are they delicious.

But there's a lot more to their attraction than you're first led to believe. As you peel back the layers of their history and their connection, puzzle pieces begin to click in place. And what seems like a sizzling office hookup at first, soon turns out to be something much more.

I couldn't get enough of these two. Julia's quirkiness was the perfect balance to Max's intense brooding. Their chemistry was off the charts hot, and the story was addicting. I devoured it in one sitting and then got to enjoy the bonus novella at the end as the icing on top.

You got to give it to Eve Dangerfield when it comes to writing the steamiest novel, so steamy that just picking up the book will guarantee to make you blush.

It's my second time to read a book written by Eve Dangerfield. The first one was Degrees of Control which was yet again, another sex-filled romance erotica that was a pleasure to read. Locked Box is a story that tells about the characters Max Connor and Julia Bennett. These characters had a one-time hook-up years ago when Julia was still 18 and Max was 26. Now after 6 years, they met again and wow, things started to heat up once again when they were both locked in a police station.

This book was well-written. I've always loved Eve Dangerfield's delicious writing. The smut was very well delivered, but I wish there is enough depth in the characters and the overall story. The story wasn't really that engaging because it was overlapped by lots and lots of sex. I wish there were more dialogues and the platonic side of their relationship was also paid attention to. I also had a problem with Julia. Not to be judgy, I get that she loves sex but I couldn't get the reason why she seems to be sexually pre-occupied most of the time and whenever Max is around, all she ever thinks about is getting him laid. Max's feelings to her was very apparent and I knew it's more than just sex, but Julia? I thought her feelings to Max were more lust than love.

Anyways, this was still an enjoyable read. A certified guilty-pleasure book. If you want to read a light erotic romance with hot and sexy characters to blow your mind, consider diving into this book. :)

(Thank you to the author Eve Dangerfield for sending me a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!)

5 Bratty and Mischievous Stars ⭐

Julia Bennett has always had the hots for Senior Constable Max Connor. The fact that he's married, keeps him well out of reach unless it's in her dreams.

Morally it sucked. What kind of person fantasized about stealing someone's husband? Her feminist self was constantly slapping her brain with a wet towel.

However when both Julia and Max get locked up together in the evidence room of Brenthill Police Station, they are both in for some revelations. Over a shared bottle of whiskey they will learn that the attraction is mutual, Max is getting a divorce and they are both lovers of dirty talk and kink.

"Oh my God, so good," Julia moaned. She reached for his belt buckle and Max pulled away again.

"No."

"But, I want -"

"You want to do something for me? Come."

Where Max is trying to maintain a level of professionalism and restraint, it's like Julia's inner vixen and brat has been unleashed. And she's focused on pushing all his buttons to get a reaction. And holy heck does he know how to manhandle her just right...

"You wanna play this game, sweetheart? You wanna make my dick hard and turn me into an animal? Then you need to understand I can make pleasure hurt twice as bad as pain and I love making horny brats beg for mercy."

Although these two are dynamite sexually, the biggest challenge will be whether they are prepared to take a gamble on each other outside of work.

I can always be assured when picking up a book by Eve Dangerfield, that I'll be guaranteed to laugh out loud, cringe internally and then get hella turned on. Locked Box didn't disappoint. It was witty and deliciously smutty. And the fact that this author's books remain authentically Australian, pleases me immensely!

”What if love at first sight wasn’t bullshit?”

description

Based in Australia, this story is very angsty, very sexy, and has a great backstory. All factors which make this one a very entertaining read. Our heroine, is the snarky IT girl, Julia Bennett of the Brenthill Police Department. Julia gets locked in the property office with her long time crush, Constable Max Connor. Max has been unattainable since she has started at the station, to Julia, he’s a happily married man.

”Love might be a gamble but Max Connor was a complete dead end.”

The sexual chemistry between Julia and Max was palpable. Max tries to resist the long time attraction to Julia but the truth is he’s not tied down any longer but there’s a reason he comes across so indecisive. The sex scenes were VERY hot though at times a bit over the top…

”Seriously, Connor… howd’you ever get your horse-dick inside anyone?”

description

Seriously though, Max and Julia were dirty talkers and 90 percent of the time they were very hot together.

”After I’m done fucking you, I’m gonna bury my face in your pussy. I’m gonna lick your clict, finger your cunt, play with your ass. You’re gonna come like a porn star on my mouth.”

“Max”.

“That’s it, say my name.”

description

Once our couple is rescued from the locked room, Max's indecisiveness kicks back in and he pushes Julia away yet again. The backstory about these two was creative and added a great layer to the story.

”Jules…do you remember when we met?”

description

This is definitely an original, sexy story, and though the heroine has it very bad for the hero and just can’t hide it even when he’s a total ASS. The story really does come together in the end together leaving me calling this one a good read!

An Aussie hero to fall in love with…Max!

***4.5 Stars***

A high!! I got the HIGH!! Nothing makes a romance reader more excited than finding a book that leaves you on a high. Locked Box!!! Oh My Lordy!! Locked Box!!! One more time…LOCKED BOX!!!

Seriously…I had my reservations to start with. The blurb mentions the hero is… MARRIED!! Anyone who knows me knows that I FREAK OUT about cheating. I started this book which is from Julia’s POV thinking, Eve…Love…what are you doing to me? I was squinting at the pages trying to work it out and thinking, I’ll just persevere…maybe it’s not what I’m thinking. The blurb clearly states that the hero is in the process of getting a divorce…but the heroine, up to a certain point, still thinks he’s married. WTH??? Then – we get his POV and I’m OK, things settle and I’m a happy camper again.

Now that I’ve explained my reservations…IT’S ALL GOOD!!! Seriously this book is HOT!! With a little bit of funny, some dirty talking and a man in uniform who gets off on being BOSSY!!

Julia is a computer IT nerd with a few issues from her past. She grew up with no father, a drunk and irresponsible mother, and a sister. The sister is the only one left in her life now and she’s got a few issues of her own. Julia works at the local police station as an IT consultant whose main job is to fight computer viruses and keep the computers working. This is not her passion, though. She and her friend Tiff have created a computer game. Unfortunately, they can’t get it to the next level without some serious funding. Julia works at the police station until that can happen.

Max is a seriously hot police officer. Tall, dark and handsome is putting it mildly. He has his own brand of problems that make his world less than perfect. I really like Max and it could have (does have) to do with the fact that he talks dirty, and I mean really dirty. Not all the women he’s been with get his dirty talking, so he’s hesitant to unleash his powers in the bedroom. Imagine his surprise and delight when he finds a woman who asks for it.

Julia and Max have a history. Julia is completely shocked when she starts her new job and sees Max in the lunchroom. Max is just as surprised but the two of them pretend they’ve never seen each other before. It’s not until later in the book we find out their history. Locked Box is not full of back and forths. We get a little glimpse, with enough to understand where these two are coming from.

There were times that I felt the heroine was a little door-matty and let him get away with too much, but I know that it was realistic. The heart can overpower logical thoughts.

Locked Box is set in Australia. This is the real Australia though. No kangaroos, koalas or emus are seen or talked about. No “G’day”, “mate” or “she’ll be right” in sight. Yes, there may be a few terms that will stump (confuse) an international reader, but in most cases it should be easy enough to work out the meaning.

I know I seem like I’m gushing, but I REALLY enjoyed this story. Eve Dangerfield has given me characters to love, sexy scenes that made my heart beat faster, a little angst to make it realistic and a love story that spanned years and needed to be told. The last page made my little heart sing. I definitely recommend it.

It was actually a really wonderful story about Julia (24), who is an IT girl at a police station and a video games designer in her free time, and Max (33), who is a police officer. Not to spoil too much - they met shortly for the first time 6 years ago at a party, now they are working together. The biggest part of the story is based on the fact that they find themselves locked in a police station in an evidence room on a Friday evening and are forced to confront their mutual attraction...

Julia was such an amazing heroine who wasn’t afraid to say what’s on her mind. Max on the other hand cared about the age difference and therefore was often hot and cold, which frustrated me to death at times.

The story caught my attention from the beginning, I couldn’t stop reading and I flew through it quickly. Mainly the first 75% were 5 star for me, the last 25% were a little bit cliché-ed for my liking, but I enjoyed it nevertheless. It was genuinely relatable, emotional and steamy.

4.5 STARS!
Love and sex had potential to be amazing but they required risk.
Filthy and smart.

It's official, I love Eve Dangerfield.

She's part of a very short list of authors who write my favorite combo . . . though I'm never sure what to call it:
===> smutty literature?
===> intelligent trash?
===> well-written yumminess with depth?
[Ooooh, that last one, for sure! lol.]

And even better, Locked Box had some really funny moments too.

The plot in a nutshell: Over the weekend, Max and Julia accidentally get locked in the evidence room at the police station where they both work, forcing them to confront their history and long-standing attraction for each other.

The first 60% of this one, I thought was a very solid 5 star read. Julia and her inner thoughts were a wonderful mix of witty, clever, cutting, and vulnerable.

And holy smokes, nobody writes kink like Eve Dangerfield. It was HOT, HOT, HOT! I really liked the way it was worked into the story.
"Bossy guys turn me on." There was a beat. "In bed. Bossy guys turn me on in bed. You take this alpha dog thing into the real world and I'm gonna get pissed."
Where I thought there was a bit of a disconnect was in the main conflict that rose up in the last 40%. I'm not sure I was wholly convinced by the characters' hesitance to take a chance on each other based on what I was shown of them.

Regardless, I'm rounding up. This was a fabulous read that held my attention from beginning to end. I definitely recommend if you love any of the categories mentioned above. :D

2 People, One Locked Door and Tons of Pent-up Attraction

Wow, well I'm way behind on reviews which means this book isn't completely fresh in my mind but my OCD won't let it go... Julia Bennett works for a small police precinct in a sleepy Australian town as their IT girl. Max O'Connor has secretly been her crush since she first started working there but A) he's never seemed to pay her attention and B) for most of the time on the job he has been married so she has chosen to admire him from afar. What Jules (Julia) doesn't know is that Max and his wife are already completely split and finalising their divorce papers - all they need are the signatures. She also doesn't realise that Max has purposefully kind of kept his distance from her because he too has a crush on her.

All would probably have just go on as business as usual if it weren't for the fact that Jules is tasked with organising the evidence room at the end of the day before the precinct closes for the weekend. When the door jam comes out and the door locks her in, Jules freaks that she is stuck there until Monday and raises hell and high-water hoping someone will hear her. As fate would have it, Max is the only one left in the building and in his effort to let her out, he inadvertently locks himself in with her too. So now we've got two people who have the major hots for each other locked in a room for three days by themselves with nothing to distract them, literally, except maybe each other ; )

Max is older than Jules and that plays a bit of an obstacle on his part but it doesn't win out the end. These two are hot with each other and have a lot of pent up feelings and energy to get rid of.

I discovered this author through one of my GR friends and I have to say, even when she's not perfect, she's still a breath of fresh air. I love that she's an Australian writer and deals more with day to day situations - her heroes don't need to be billionaires or mysterious figures - and I love that there's always something quirky and discerning about her characters. They feel like real people and completely authentic.

I can't give Locked Box 5 stars mainly because I read another just before this by Dangerfield that tickled me even more so I'll go with a solid 4.5. Still absolutely delicious!

3.25 stars, 2.5 spice

I honestly thought I would have liked this more than I did. It has a lot of what I look for in shorter, erotica-leaning romances, and while I did really like the spice scenes as they appear, I think some of the other overtones of the book skewed too close to things I don't like to read about in romances.

And this is ABSOLUTELY not a criticism of this book! The author/blurb mentions the MMC being "married/separated/about to divorce" so this is NOT a shock or a plot twist or anything. There is full transparency here, which is why no points were taken off for my personal feelings/reaction to it. The rating reflects my other thoughts on the book, see below. It was more so that I thought the spice would be able to overshadow the 'married' thing, but it didn't work out that way for me. The FMC kept repeating it over and over "he's married" and it took me out of the story a little.

A little more context for safety readers!

I also didn't like that the wife/ex-wife who cheated on the MMC was included so much in the story as a whole, not even in a romantic way, but more in a I-don't-care-about-her-and-don't-want-to-read-about-her way. And having the FMC work where BOTH the MMC and his soon to be ex-wife work, and while they were still married...sigh. The writing was decent - the spice scenes were actually the best written for me - but the overall plot as whole, and the set-up itself, fell a little flat, and so the writing wasn't able to carry this thing home for me.

I can totally see the appeal of this to other readers in the romance/erotica community, so I would check this one out if you're a fan of: dom/sub undertones, dirty talking, "married man" fantasy-ish, workplace setting, forced proximity (locked in storage together), and mutual pining, go for it!

I have trusted friends who loved it, and I'm still going to happily check out Eve Dangerfield's other work!

Another great original story by this author.

I just love the sexual tension she can portray with words. How she writes just pulls you in so completely you look up and realise you have just 2 hours left to try to sleep before you need to get up for a 12 hour shift!

IT girl Julia has had a huge crush on Police Man Max Connor for ages, but he is married, and hence forbidden.

Yet, Julia and Max have a bit of a history and an undeniable attraction to each other.

So when they get locked in together for hours and hours and hours.....well, what is going to happen?

Once again, this author has delivered a book chock full with sexual tension, hot sex, and a couple that you just adore and want to end up together.

AND!!! The hero's ex......so she cheated on him, they are getting divorced.....yet did this author portray her as an immoral evil slut of an ex, like so many other romance authors do to the ex wife!

How freakin' awesome! She was actually fairly likeable.

However, not quite 5 stars for me, unlike the other books of hers I have read, as for me, the hero spent a little too long pushing the heroine away, then giving her hope, pushing her away etc.

But, still, an excellent 4 stars.

4 years later I picked this up again to read and I am happy that I finished it this time. I still found the parts of the book devoted to Max and Julia being accidentally locked up in the police evidence room excessively long and very limiting to the story but by reading on this time I got to find out more about Julia and Max...how they first met and consequently I enjoyed this much more the second time around even though it still felt lacking regarding depth... of the characters and the storyline itself. The writing was good as always and the sex scenes were indeed blush worthy and ultimately this was was more of an erotic read than a regular romance IMO.

Not my favorite read by Ms. Dangerfield and usually everything she writes is magic for me.

*****************************
I have decided not to finish this book.....DNF at 25%. I am not sure if it is the limited storyline here (two individuals trapped in a locked police evidence room) or the characters but I am struggling to go on reading....which is seriously depressing after I just recently discovered this remarkable author.

The last two books that I read by Eve Dangerfield were so captivating and I was beyond riveted to my kindle....sadly that is not the case here. The writing is fine but I am a little bored and disinterested...sorry!!!
She has many other books to choose from though, so until next time.....Au Revoir!!!

Reading this book makes me upset. Not upset about the book which I absolutely loved, but about the fact that author Eve Dangerfield is no longer writing erotica novels. She has natural talent in her bones as she can easily create sexy novels with great characters. She's yet to write a book that I haven't loved.

4.5 Dirty (talking) cop stars.

Growing up I was really into the Aussie TV show Blue Heelers, which was about a police station in rural Australia. I was also pretty in love with Evan Jones who was the local heartthrob cop.

You're probably wondering what on EARTH I am rambling about but this book was basically like an R Rated episode of that show and it honestly just made me really happy. Again it had so much amazing Aussie humour in it and honestly, more books need "slutty bogans" in them haha.

I loved the sexual tension between these two and there was even some surprising angst which I absolutely live for.

This book had a free novella at the end which I was massively thankful for as I felt like this book ended waaaay too abruptly for my liking and getting to see them 3 and a bit years on was great and also really fucking hot.

The only reason this isn't getting the full 5 star treatment is because the push pull went on for a bit longer than necessary and bugged me because it was silly.

So this was 20% plot and 80% smut (or something like that) which is okay of course but I kinda expected more since it was a full length novel.

I did skip some pages, I couldn't read more steamy scenes, but overall it was okay but the timing wasn't right for me. 2 ⭐

4 stars! This was a good book! This was the story of Julia and Max. Julia is an IT specialist at the police station. Max is her hot policeman co-worker. Through a series of unfortunate events, they get locked in the evidence room together on a Friday afternoon and are forced to spend they weekend with each other. Julia has been attracted Max for a long time, but has avoided him because she thinks he is married. However, he has been separated for years and his divorce is almost final. During their time in the " locked box", they spend their time together getting to know each other better and fighting (and then giving in to) their attraction to each other. We find out that they have a past and that they have both been affected by the time they spent together one night years ago. Their chemistry and compatibility are impossible for them to deny when they are forced to spend time together and the true story of what happened between them comes out to light as they bare their souls to each other. But when they are rescued from the evidence room, they are unsure how to proceed and whether they can have a future together. Max feels like he is to old for Julia (they have a 6 year age difference) and Julia doesn't understand his feelings. They struggle a bit and there is some push and pull before they finally work it out between them. There were a few nitpicky things that bugged me a bit. I liked Julia a lot and I felt bad for her because Max was a bit indecisive and wishy-washy. It took him awhile to work out what he wanted with Julia. I wasn't sure if he recognized how great she was. I didn't love the fact that Max got advice on his future with Julia from his ex-wife. And when he finally made up his mind that he wanted to pursue a relationship with Julia, he went to a work party but then stayed away from her for awhile instead of going directly to her, when he had obviously dressed up for her and had seemed to have gone there determined to get her back. But despite those few things, I really did enjoy the book . It was on the shorter side (less than 200 pages), but it wasn't lacking in depth or characterization. It packed more punch than a lot of longer books. This was the second book I have read by Eve Dangerfield. She writes book with lots of emotion, humor, hotness, great original stories, and interesting, unique characters. I look forward to more from this talented writer!

3.5 stars rounded up.
This is a funny and sexy read.
I like both main characters.
Julia was a struggling game maker, who had the side job as an IT girl. The funny part in this book mostly came from her sense of humour.
Max was your model cop, both in attitude and appearance. He liked dirty talk during sex but didn't really confident doing it. It was cute when he was all like 'take it slut! oh I'm sorry'.
They had feelings for each other for years, so when the author kindly locked them together, it was explosive!
But Max's attitude was a bit turn off for me, because I don't really get the problem with the age difference. Maybe my sense was dulled with one too many trips to HPlandia, where matches between teenager or early twenties heroines and a much older heroes, with ten years or more age difference, were happening everyday (twice on the weekend if secret babies were involved). Maybe if the author gave more reasons than just Max's sense of appropriateness, I could relate more. At least, he snapped out of it pretty fast.
And, Julia's uncertainty near the end was a bit eye roll inducing moment for me, but I get where she's coming from.
But, their foolishness gave the chance for their friends and family became the voice of reasons. I was hoping there were more screen time for them.
The ending was cute. All in all, it was an entertaining read.
Thanks to author who was generously giving me a free copy of this book in exchange for the review. I hope you don't regret it, haha (awkward laugh)...

I started this series completely in the wrong order, reading this book after I finished the second and I was slightly disappointed. When I came across Julia Bennett and Max Connor in Open Hearts, I fell in love with them and was so excited to read their story, completely sure I would fall in love with it.

Stupid me.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed some of this book but nothing really captured my attention or interest. A bit of a meh book for me, these character's cameos in Open Hearts was more interesting.

The plot was slow and often nonexistent, with a majority of the story being the two main characters locked in a room together and having sex.

4 stars!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I was in the mood for a light, sexy, fun read, and since I loved my last (and only) Eve Dangerfield , I decided to take a shot on this one. I was not disappointed; I find the author both talented and hilarious, and she also writes the hell out of a sex scene. That being said, I didn't love it as much as Degrees of Control, probably because it didn't have the edge. Still, my ovaries definitely loved it and it made me laugh out loud more than once, so it was definitely a success.

Love and sex had the potential to be amazing but they required risk. They meant taking a guy to bed only to discover he was bad at oral and his cock smelt funny and his dirty talk made you wince and you had to lie there in the dark, crafting the text message you’d use to end it, even as he snuffled away at your genitalia.

“Nope. We have to space out the water and bide our time, but it’s totally doable.”
You’re totally doable, her brain spat out.

Julia is 24 and working as an IT tech at a local police station. She doesn't like her job, but she needs income while she designs a video game with her friend Tiff. She has been crushing on the married cop Max Connor for years, and as the story progresses, we learn that there is more to this than simply a one-sided crush. In fact, their story started long before he was married. When they both get locked in an evidence room, they can no longer ignore each other- or their chemistry.

Julia pointed to the whiskey she’d found. “The bottle’s still sealed. We could get drunk?”
Max’s expression said her idea was on par with spray-painting dicks on a church. “I don’t think that’s smart.”

“I’ve come three times tonight. I’m like a water park down there and this still feels like a reverse sword in the stone situation.”

Max is not where he always thought he'd be in life at the age of 33. His soon-to-be ex-wife is living with her boyfriend, while he's living with his old college roommate. He feels like a failure, and Julia's constant presence- both physically and in his brain- isn't something he wants to deal with right now.

I really liked Julia- she was an independent female who yes, had quirks, but she also knows what she wants. That being said, she's young and idealistic. A few times I wanted to shake her, make her grow a backbone, but she eventually got there. I liked that she's a computer nerd and that's she's driven, convinced she doesn't need a man.

Love and sex might be a gamble, but Max Connor was a complete dead end.

I was conflicted over Max. During sex, he was a five-star character. After, he made me extremely angry. I didn't hate him- he was actually a pretty good guy- but he was inconsistent and at times patronizing. He was definitely hot, though, so I didn't blame Julia for wanting him. Still, when Julia- and then another character- finally told him off, I actually cheered out loud.

This is a mistake.
Julia raked her nails down his back. “Oh my god, you feel so good.”
This is the best idea I’ve ever had.

“You are the most frustrating woman I’ve ever met.”
“And you think because you’ve got a dick the size of Queensland you can act like a total nutcase and expect me to go along with it,” Julia put her hands on her hips. “Think again. I don’t know what Bonnie’s view on unlawful interrogation was, but it won’t work on me.”
Max’s lip curled. “You want me to show you what works on you?”
“You mean you might actually want to screw? Without me having to seduce you to within an inch of my pussy? Congratulations.”

He was lying. Nothing would follow this wildly stupid fuck except goodbye and regrets, but it was sweet to pretend.

This was a funny, relaxing, HOT read with not too much angst, so if you're in the mood for that, I'd say dive in!

Opinion Breakdown
The Good: The side characters. The premise.

The Not-So-Good: The lack of connection past sexual. I feel like, especially for the H, that it was only based on sex and attraction. Also the continued references to his big dick got a little ridiculous 🙈

The Bad: The ending. It was way too abrupt and I know that there was an option to sign up for an extended epilogue-- but I've decided I'm just going to refuse those because it really bugs me that authors use this to get more subscribers. If I want to follow you and get your newsletter, I will!

Overall: Meh, it was okay. It was steamy and I liked that the h owned her sexuality. But that was it. I've had this in my tbr list for a while and it was a freebie at one point, so it was worth the read -- but won't be anything memorable or landing a spot on my favorites shelf.

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Julia and Max's story. They both harbored crushes on each other while working together at the police station and Max being married, so when they accidentally find themselves locked together in the evidence room -- those feelings come to a head. Only, Max is no longer with his wife and they also address the night they met years prior to working together that they never forgot but never talked about again. There are some secrets revealed, some hot sexy times, and some big changes...and they get a HFN ending.

Point Of View (POV): This alternated between Julia and Max's POV.

Overall Pace of Story: Alright. I feel like the ending was too abrupt but I never skimmed. Yet another example of why I feel like I need at least 300 pages!

Instalove:Kind of, considering it was only something like 24 hours locked together.

H (Hero) rating: 3 stars. Max. I liked him but then I didn't with how he was hot and cold with the h.

h (heroine) rating: 3.5 stars. Julia. I liked her but I wanted her be a little stronger with her attraction to him.

Sadness level: Low, no tissues needed

Push/Pull: Yes

Heat level: Hot. They have some hot tension, chemistry, and scenes -- it was a little much and did feel like it took away from the story some.

Descriptive sex: Yes

OW (Other Woman)/OM (Other Man) drama: Yes, but just jealousy

Sex scene with OW or OM: No

Cheating: No

Separation: Yes, but not technically

Possible Triggers: Yes

Closure: This ends in an alright place but right after their conflict is resolved and k would call it a HFN ending

Safety: This one is probably Safe with exception for most safety gang readers depending on personal preferences

When I read the blurb I thought to myself, hot cop—check, nerdy IT girl—check, locked-in-a-room-all-by-themselves… Oh my Goodness!!! The heat these two radiated made me wonder how that room didn't melt.

Max and Julia definitely have the hots for each other, yet they choose to ignore those feelings until an unforeseeable circumstance leaves them at each other’s mercy. Their discussion on things they are passionate about starts to ignites the fire and passion they both feel, and let me say, I could only wish I was a fly on that locked room wall.

Max is going through a rough patch and has secrets of his own but being locked in the same room with Julia, it unleashes his alpha! The banter and dialogue between these two made me feel like I was on a roller coaster not knowing if I was going to survive the ride. They had me cracking up and clenching my legs at the same time.

Seductively hot is what I can describe the passion between Max and Julia, and as they say, age is just a number... ~ Kara, 4 Sexy stars

3* STARS!

Mini review:
Another dirty & kinky read. I enjoyed their banter at first but I'm easily bored when they started to have sex. Why? Well, Julia is a sexy nerd with a shameless crush to Max Connor. Julia was annoyed by the fact that he's a married man. But Max couldn't open to Julia's offer more than sex. Yeah, their sex was a total mind-blowing and everything happened too fast. Apparently, they shared some misunderstanding in the past that make Max couldn't be with Julia. Overall, I feel conflicted with the story. It wasn't that bad but didn't 'wow' me. Just a decent read with smutty spices.

Locked Box by Eve Dangerfield
3.5 stars!!

“What if love at first sight wasn’t bullshit?”

This book was a recommendation and first of all I was pleasantly surprised that it was set in Australia, so we have some hot Australians to swoon over for a change. This book is a little angsty, with some great sexual tension and actually had a kind of unique back story that was revealed during the read. But I have to say all this tension and angst was perfectly balanced with some great wit at times and I found myself laughing out loud, as well has hiding behind my hands in mortification. Such was the character connection that I found myself empathising, sympathising and just willing these two to just get it on.

This is an age gap book, one where in the beginning it could be construed as too great but when these two cross paths once again their age gap is irrelevant. Well to me it was, to Julia it was but Connor was still wary. For Connor, Julia was the one that got away, even though they only had a “moment” once he found out Julia’s age he ran like the wind. Being a police officer he had a reputation to uphold and while she was legal, he was in his mid-twenties and for him he felt like a cradle snatcher.

For Julia, Connor was the one that got away, for years she has pined over their “moment.” She is a tech geek and has been working for the local police as their computer technician, however in her spare time she designs computer games. Her leading male in her game funnily enough looks like Connor such is the hold he has over her every thought. Working at the same police station as Connor has been hell, especially as now he is married. Every day is torture but for Julia the job is a means to an end until she can get her game funded.

These two find themselves in the most awkward of circumstances, locked in the evidence room for a whole weekend. With only themselves for company these two have to talk and it is a talk that is well overdue. Truths and secrets are revealed, the past is uncovered and the sexual chemistry is tangible. There is no cheating in this book so don’t panic, but when these two get it on it is seriously hot. These two are intense, both are dirty talkers and are burning up the pages, the sheets, the carpet and anywhere else that takes their fancy. While the sex scenes in this book are intense, at times I thought less is more but that in no way detracted from my enjoyment.

“Seriously, Connor…how d’you ever get your horse-dick inside anyone?...I’ve come three times tonight. I’m like a water park down there and this still feels like a reverse sword in the stone situation.”

This was a quick, fun, hot read that I thoroughly enjoyed, it kept my attention throughout and I found myself willing these two on like a crazy person. I did feel that Julia became a bit of a doormat at times but I could understand why she was the way she was. Connor fighting with his morals was hard to take, I just wanted to give him a slap at times, however, him reeling himself back in with the dirty talk was totally endearing and would once again have me laughing out loud and loving him once again.

“I miss him.”

Totally enjoyed this one.

Locked Box is another great steamy romance from Eve Dangerfield!

Confession time!! I actually read Open Hearts before Locked Box. And I really wished I had read them in order because there was some development between Julia and Max in Open Hearts that I wish I would've payed more attention to but alas.

I actually really liked Locked Box a lot more than Open Hearts. I think that's because I found myself liking Julia a lot more than Ash (her sister). Julia was a great heroine! I liked how take charge she was with Max! She knew she wanted him and by god she was gonna get him! Not only that but it was really nice reading about her career aspirations! I was super intrigued by her being a game developer and thought that was super cool.

However, I will say I wasn't as impressed with Max. I liked him but he wasn't my favorite Eve Dangerfield hero. He was very and I mean very wishy washy about what he wanted from Julia. One minute he's all for them getting down and dirty in the evidence locker, and then the next thing you know he's pushing her away. Then he's asking her out, but then he's saying she's to young for him. Bro she's only 8 years younger than you and you're both adults.

“You’re pretending you’re doing this to be a decent guy, but you’re just scared of what other people think, which is pathetic considering you are eight hideously long years older than me.”
Chill dude.

I think Locked Box would have benefitted from being longer. I think because the majority of the book took place in the evidence locker (and not much talking happened in there ;) so the ending felt a bit rushed. I would have liked to get to know Max a bit better outside of all of the sex. And their relationship was very insta-love. I would have also liked to see Max grovel a bit more but that's just me.

“I think as long as you’re trying to fix the things you fucked up, that’s all women care about. That and apologising properly and not being like ‘I’m sorry that you got your feelings hurt.’”
PREACH!!!

All in all I really liked Locked Box and am glad I read it! Also I throughly enjoyed the novella about Julia and Max. That was actually pretty sweet and sexy!

Eve Dangerfield writes books that are witty, sexy and fun. Every time I crack one open, I know I'm going to smile a lot. Locked Box was no exception. The premise is interesting. An IT geek girl and her hot cop crush get accidentally locked in an evidence room at the police station for the weekend. Julia, the IT girl, has loved Max for years. Max, on the other hand is married... or is he? As the strange weekend unfolds, they succumb to temptation and are forced to confront emotions neither of them expected. The conflicts here are internal. No life-threatening issues or villains to keep the main characters apart. However, Ms. Dangerfield shows the reader just how preconceived notions can get in the way and how people can get stuck in their beliefs. Ultimately, any conflict is resolved and love conquers all...after a lot of hot and sticky sex amongst the confiscated weaponry and police files.

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Having been one of the readers of Eve Dangerfield's debut novel “Degrees of Control”, I knew that she knew how to bring the heat but after experiencing Max and Julia there is not any doubt how incendiary her writing can be. I finished with a racing pulse, out of breath, and my mind had take up residence in the gutter. Locked Box is a unique story with complex, sultry characters that will leave you with a completely different view of police stations and evidence rooms. Max and Julia take us to unknown pleasurable heights and leave behind their own fair share of evidence while locked up together.

Julia Bennett has been pining for six years over an older guy who left her heart shattered and cold one evening and now only has time for a boyfriend she creates in her virtual world. Having grown up with a revolving door of her mother's trashy boyfriends, she knows what she wants and doesn't want. The only dilemma is that the one she wants is wearing a gold band on his left hand and is completely off limits. I absolutely love how passionate Julia is about life and her quirks and hang ups endeared me to this freckled, video game playing beauty.

Never have I ever wished more for a pair of silver restraints as I did while reading all about the sexy, gun toting, dominant Max Connor. Especially when he used phrases like “Oh, you gonna get it, sweetheart..”, I melted right on the spot. My heart goes out to Max for his idealistic values and I was giddy to see his IT crush turn all his beliefs on their head.

Eve Dangerfield takes us on a stimulating, heart melting journey through this couples troubled past and scintillating time in close quarters. Eve is quickly becoming a favorite author for me, with her kindle melting scenes and emotionally charged stories that arouse and steal my heart. I highly recommend for lovers of “steamier” romance with beautifully flawed characters and an attention grabbing story line. She writes amazing bossy alpha males and head strong beauties that are irresistible.
