Katerina Anderson’s adventure continues as she and the crew of the Wolfegang are on their way to the planet Asgard...
I never really thought we would make it this far. Not only are we so close to completing our mission for the Norse king, but my brother is almost within my grasp. Kris and I will no longer be alone in the vast reaches of space.
The only problem is the Federation is catching up to me and the crew and we might not have the time we need to complete our mission. I just hope we make it to Asgard before the Federation.
What can I say about the series that I haven't already said? I impatiently wait for each book in the series; It seems to just get better the deeper you dive in. There is only one other series I'm still excited to read by the 5th book. Not to mention this series has a standalone novella too (with more to come). I'm all around impressed with Jillian's Work and have been since day one.
As always, I love the Wolfegang crew. They're Diverse in more ways than one. I enjoyed how attitudes had changed throughout this series. It's way more obvious in this book than the others. More than once I was nervous about how a character would react to what was going on in this story. The crew's tension was high, and it truly brought new issues with it. It's funny how my favorite character changes with every book; This one, I couldn't pick. I'm not sure where I stand with any of them. If I had to pick something I didn't like about this book, it would be that it's over, and I have to impatiently wait for the next in the series.
Once again, I fell in love with this book. I'm sad it's over. If you're looking for a good sci-fi series, this is it. Don't forget, the first in the series is free.(My Delicate Destruction) I would recommend reading the 1st and 2nd together; it gives the full feel of Jillian's writing style.
I was pretty irritated when I started this series, but I can say that it grew on me and I started to appreciate watching the story unfold. The cast of characters is interesting in itself. It is varied and they all have flaws and aren’t perfect. Wolfe—he just makes me want to smack him at times. Along with Kat he seems to have mood swings and flash hot or cold about somethings. However as the series went on you learn more and more about him so a lot of how he thinks makes more sense. I’m not sure what all to say except that I like and don’t like him … he does some pretty stupid stuff at times. (The end of the book is a shining example of wtf was he thinking?) The other crew members are better now that they’ve been fleshed out more as the series progressed. I like Celeste, though I still think she’s a raging meaniehead at times, her gruff demeanor began to make more sense the more we learned about her. I’m fascinated by the little telepath alien (I’m blind so listen to my books and getting the spelling of a name is a pain in the butt and to be honest I didn’t want to stop reading long enough to go through the process of getting the correct spelling of character names so I will either mess them up or describe them some other way.) I would like to learn more about his people and just why he felt he needed to be where he is right now. What condition does he need to keep in check I wonder? The little revelations when the PoV switches are nice little ways to make me more curious. The hint of a possible love triangle … the main reason I tend to avoid YA novels. At least it didn’t develop much—I got nervous in the last book when it got hinted at. The explanation as to how to read the crystal from her brother being able to be done only on that planet was a nice twist to add to everything. I look forward to reading more about what happened and the little telepaths stance on letting the Federation get a hold of it. Oddly I just had a thought that a lot of the character’s actions remind me a bit of how some Connie Suttle characters act, when it comes to whiplash and omg decisions that is. Big betrayals you never saw coming … and crack writing/stories/plots/characters. The action scenes are pretty good reads, the writing is fast paced, and the problems I had when I started the series seemed to have smoothed out some. I am just thinking that she did some super-fast building of Kat’s character and at times it was just unbelievable/over done to me. There are still some times when I think … how convenient that she knew how to do that…. But they’re not as prevalent as they were in the first couple of books.
The characters are so vibrant and complex, a lot of potential in all of them, so I was enjoying every moment. Keep on writing I'll keep on reading!! I am definitely adding you to favorite authors.
I was hired to proofread this book. The author is not and was not aware that I would be reviewing it. It was not part of our agreement. If you feel that my connection to the book makes my review unreliable, so be it, but this is my honest review.
This is the fifth book in the series and the first one I've read. I'm obviously missing loads of back story, but I never felt lost. There was sufficient explanation for things from the past that I always felt like I was up to speed with what was going on in the story. That being said, I fully plan on going back and reading the rest of the series because I love these characters and want to know how they got to this point.
This book was loaded with action, intrigue, and a smidgen of romance, just enough to titillate anyone's romantic senses without detracting from the focus of the story. I frequently found myself anxious, wondering how Kat would handle various situations she found herself in. I'm still anxious now to find out what happens next in the series.
Overall I give Far From Safe 5 out of 5 stars because it kept me engaged and wanting more and I never felt like I was missing crucial elements of the back story in spite of not reading the rest of the series yet.
We have come a long way with this series, the author and the characters have grown familiar. There is a lot of character development in this story, and we get so see a new side of these characters. This book if the fifth installment to the Wolfegang series. The further we get into this book, the more your questions are answered from the previous book.
But, in the end, we are left with more questions and the need to find out what is going on. I have to say this was the only book I cried over. They were both from being happy and sad. I have no clue what is going to happen next. Looks like we will all be waiting for the sixth book to come out.
I know this is a short review, but I don't want to give anything away. I will be reading and reviewing Wolfe's short story and I am not sure if I am looking forward to it. In the meantime, check out this series.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review
In this action packed installment of the series, you have lot's of things that happen. When the Wolfegang has to make an extra stop for parts, several things go wrong. A doctor Wolfe though he could trust to help Kat, betrays him. Kat is subjected to more horrors. And now Lt. Donnelly is on Kats tail and will stop at nothing to have and keep her, in hope she is the key to his sanity. The search is still on for the necklace Brisingaman. And a whole lot of other surprises happened. Well written and very entertaining story to read. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
I received a copy of this book from Xpresso Book Tours in return for an honest review. This series keeps getting better and better! There are some scary medical tests, escape from a space station, treasure hunting on a planet abandoned by Norse Gods. There is lots of action and the characters are further developed. Be ready for a cliffhanger ending and for wishing you could get your hands on the next book right away.
There is a lot of character development on this installment of the series and quite a bit of the overall story gets revealed, great book, great characters and most important of all i think, a pleasure to read.
