Alexander the Aviator and his friend Josh visit the cattle station of Uncle Ben in the Australian outback. It's a long way from anywhere, and never before has Alexander seen so many cattle! Uncle Ben's airstrip needs to be used by the Flying Doctor Service to pick up an injured neighbour.
Josh takes his teddy Alexander to the Outback - there they meet Uncle Ben and Aunt Ally. A ride on a quad bike introduces them to the cattle herd out in the paddock. When they get back, they're told about a neighbour who has broken his leg. The Flying Doctor has to land on Uncle Ben's airstrip and the neighbours to drive there to meet him. The injured man was airlifted out to hospital.
Uncle Ben tells Josh and Alexander it's all about friendship. He's reminded of the story of the man in the Bible whose friends took him to see Jesus for healing. Because they couldn't get in through the crowds, they took the roof apart!
The watercolour illustrations complement the text perfectly. This is the second book in the Alexander series.
