Socialite Jessica Bullock can’t catch a break. After a lifetime of chasing perfection, hoping to please her parents, all her hard work is set to pay off. But on her wedding day, her fiancé leaves her high and dry. Ben Taggart didn't want to attend Jessica Bullock's wedding but he promised his mom so he went. He has known Jessica since they were both children. Their parents were good friends. But Jessica changed when she started high school and became a snotty rich girl. But when the wedding is suddenly called off, Ben persuades Jessica to go on her honeymoon anyway. And he'll even go with her.

This is more than a romance. In some ways, it was a journey of discovery. Things aren't always the way they appear. And it's never to late to realize your dreams. It was what I'd call a light romance. While there is some dark subject matter, the story stayed light and easy to read. It didn't always go in the direction I wanted it to, but ultimately, I got my HEA (happily ever after). I would certainly recommend this book to Contemporary Romance fans.

I didn't really warm upto Jessica in the previous books but this book offers us a perfect insight into what made her into who she pretends to be. I really liked how reconnecting with Ben, helped her rebuild her life and discover who she is meant to be. I have thoroughly enjoyed this series and really like Abigail's voice.

In this well-written romance the male lead seems to be the center of the story in the beginning … which makes sense, because the heroine has felt invisible for so long. Ben sees Jessica at a wedding and gives her a shoulder to cry on. Jessica melts inside, but maintains a cool facade – something she’s had to learn to do to deal with family problems. But as Ben continues to show Jessica he cares, a little bit of trust builds, and the possibility of healing and happiness comes to the forefront. Whether the timing is right or the friendship will be enough is another story.

I’m a frequent reader of light and easy romances, so even though Strom is new to me, this book was right up my alley. I was pleasantly surprised to see so much focus on Ben at the beginning. It totally worked. As Jessica opened up, so the story began to center more on her. My absolute favorite parts of this book were Strom’s use of fancy vocabulary… not so much that it stopped me in my tracks, not so fancy that I had to look up anything, but intelligent use of precise words that many wouldn’t expect in a “fluffy” romance.

This book pulled me in so hard that I was all of a sudden at 81% after midnight… and stayed up to finish it without hesitation! I was impressed with the characters, the story, and the writing, and now I need to click on some more Abigail Strom for my kindle.

I really enjoyed this one! I thought the story was emotional, fun, and it held a bit of a lesson. For the greatest happiness stay true to yourself! Jessica Bullock and Ben Taggert were close childhood friends. Up until the time Jessica decides to reinvent herself and shed her old life and everything that came with it including Ben. Now sitting in the chapel attending her wedding, Ben witnesses her most humiliating moment. He knows what she needs now is a friend. No judgement, just kindness and friendship. Spending 10 days in Bermuda on her would have been honeymoon wasn't exactly what he had in mind but hey, if it helps who is he to argue. As her walls begin to come down and he starts to see the old Jessica again, the sizzle that was always there between them flares back to life. Will he ever be enough for her or will she stay with the new Jessica ways??

Definitely one I would recommend.

I didn't have any expectations about "Anything but love", so this book came by a nice surprise.

Jessica is getting stood up on her wedding day and has no idea what to do with her future. Honeymoon is also booked and then she meets Ben, an old childhood friend, at her wedding reception. Together they decide to go on the honeymoon to Bermuda.

I really liked the setting in the tropical surroundings and the activities. Jessica and Ben also had a nice chemistry and I enjoyed them being together.

Jessica was an interesting character and I liked her development throughout the story. Ben was a really nice and down-to-earth guy, but remained a little bit shallow sometimes.

The story was very enjoyable and I was surprised the smooth writing and storyline.

Thank you Netgalley and Montlake Romance for my e-arc of Anything But Love!

Anything But Love is an amazing story that’s both cute and sexy. It’s about Jessica and Ben, who used to be best friends and then became enemies in high school. Ben never got to know why that was and what made Jessica turned her back on him.

“One was a memory of Jessica from Junior High, when the two of them had still been friends. The other was a memory from high school, when they’d been enemies.”

The story starts with Jessica being left at the alter by her fiancé, and Jessica is embarrassed. She decides to put on a brave face, and on her wedding reception mets Ben again after all these years. Through an encounter they end up talking and Ben decides to join Jessica on her honeymoon in Bermuda.

Their trip is all about Jessica finding her passion for life again after living an empty and hollow one, one where she only lived for others. After being molested as a child, she reinvented herself and that’s why she turned her back on Ben. However, nobody knows this, including Ben. On their trip to Bermuda things take an unexpected turn when old feelings emerge, but what happens in Bermuda stays in Bermuda. Or so they say.

What I love about Anything But Love is seeing the romance grow between Jessica and Ben. They decide to trust each other, and Jessica starts a journey that was long overdue. You get to see all of those emotions that taunted them as teenagers come back all over again, and it’s just amazing to see how that’s dealt with.

“He knew the mind and heart and soul behind that beauty. He knew Jessica’s strength and vulnerability, her fears and her courage, and the light inside her that had refused to die.”

Seeing Jessica and Ben’s feelings arise, their passion burning bright, and them learning the truth of the past is something that really makes you root for them so much more. You want them to get their happy ending, even when it seems impossible. These characters make each other grow and make each other braver, in ways that seems impossible in the beginning of the story.

Anything But Love is about finding your inner passion, learning to love and also letting yourself choose your own happiness and love. This contemporary romance is cute and sexy, but also provides you with a complex backstory to the relationship of the characters. It’s a book I really recommend.

Initial thoughts:
Guys this books is so amazing and fluffy, this couple fall in love, grow and learn so much from each other and the journey you are taken on in this book is just the best. Anything But Love is about finding your inner passion, learning to love and also letting yourself choose your own happiness and love. The main character Jessica has been through a lot of devasting stuff in her childhood (abuse) and seeing her deal with that, and going in the right direction in terms of getting help was something I really enjoyed reading about. If you want a contemporary romance where both of the characters have a backstory that will move you then this book is for you. More detailed review to come.

Although the heroine's background is dark, the tone of this book is generally hopeful and a light read. I ended up loving both of these characters by the end of the book and rooted for their HEA. The story was fun and I kept turning the pages. Did I have a good idea where the story was going the whole time? Yes. But you know what? I still loved it.

There’s always divine timing that puts someone exactly where they don’t want to be at the exact moment they don’t want to go anywhere- or so they think.

It’s happened to us all, getting a little universal shove forwards when all we want to do is sit back and watch- which doesn’t ever happen. No, we get that shove that lands us where we need to be at always the right time, we’re just fickle people that like to disagree until things click into place. That’s what happened in the book of Anything For Love by Melissa Foster.

Beau is on the verge of a break through in his career, but his painful past is darkening all too fast around him. Unable to really clear his head or focus past the memories and guilt weighting him down he agrees to work on an old inn which promised some good solitude that he needs. When he arrives however solitude is nothing what he was going to get. Instead of being alone with his thoughts Beau is facing a beautiful , charming innkeeper that he can’t seem to walk away from.

Charlotte Sterling has had her share of pain and sorrow, losing the last of her family member she retreats for good in her family home in Colorado ready to start her forever life as single. Keeping busy with her writing, Charlotte wasn’t looking for anything but a quiet peaceful life all by herself, but that all changed when Beau Braden walked into her life. Intrigued and unable to look away or let alone stop fantasying about the handsome man ,Charlotte is rethinking her solitude lifestyle all together, there’s just one problem- Beau isn’t looking for any love in his life. Charlotte wasn’t looking for love herself in anyway but love sure found her when she least expected it. As the two spend some more time together and some heated evenings spark up they both find it difficult to walk away. There is no denying their growing connection and passion but is it enough?

Can two broken hearts help mend each other? Or were they meant to be alone with their own painful past? You will have to read Anything for Love to find out!

Another great heartwarming story by Foster, she did a wonderful job with Anything For Love. I highly recommend you check out any and all of Fosters book if you enjoy a nice romance.

**My thanks to NetGalley and Montlake Romance, for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This was a cute read, it followed the vein of kinda ex best friends getting together after Jessica's wedding falls through and Ben persuades her to still go on her honeymoon. However she will only go if he goes with her.

Jessica reinvented herself after something happened in her childhood leaving Ben behind with it and not giving him any reason as to why she would no longer talk to him.

On the honeymoon both characters reconnect and Ben does his best to help Jessica find the true her again getting her to try things she otherwise would not do, however the chemistry between them from the beginning starts to burn up the sheets, but Ben is a true gentleman.

The only thing that annoyed me was both of them keeping their true feelings kinda hidden, so when they could have been happier earlier, both of them had to wait a couple of months to realise that they actually wanted each other enough to make a move.

The story is a little slow, but overall it was a very enjoyable read.

both the characters just feel so superficial i literally can't lol the extreme damsel in distress/knight in shining armor streotype made it so hard for me to read because they were written in such an unrealistic way whew

absolute letdown from the high i got from the roommate which i read prior to this. although quite frankly i had no expectations because i just picked this up on a whim.

Abigail Strom is quickly becoming one of my "go to" authors, as was the case with her latest book, Anything But Love. Ms. Strom writes from the heart, and as a result her characters are quite genuine, flaws and all. This story is about Jessica Bullock, a woman that has spent most of her life being the perfect daughter, student, and soon to be wife to a man she cares for deeply as a friend. Jessica's fiance comes to his senses at the altar, which throws her future into chaos.

Teacher Ben Taggart is looking forward to his new job in Chicago. However, before he makes the move, he accompanies his parent's to Jessica's wedding. Ben and Jessica were best friends throughout most of their childhood, and then they were not. They even shared a mutual crush, but nothing ever came from it. Ben knows Jessica very well, and offers to go with her on her honeymoon and help her figure out her next step as a single woman.

Bermuda is a lovely place to snorkel, rekindle old feelings, and fall in love, which is exactly what happens between Jessica and Ben. They are hot in the bedroom, and Ben's ability to be patient works out well for both of them. After a glorious time, they return to New York City, planning to move on with their lives without each other. However, in this particular instance, what happens in Bermuda does not stay in Bermuda.

This book is enjoyable and fun, with a serious undertone that adds a lot of depth to the story. Jessica and Brad are good together and I liked the way Ms. Strom evolved their relationship into so much more than a friendship. Overall, this is a nicely written contemporary romance. The characters are well-defined and easy to get to know. The plot is interesting and original. Jessica and Ben have a bond that is like no other, and I was cheering for them to end up together from the very first chapter.

Review by Trinette Dungee

Jessica Bullock and Ben Taggart have known each other most of their lives and for a long time they were best friends; Unfortunately that all changed in high school when they became not quite enemies but not far from it. In Ben’s eyes Jessica turned into a self-centered brat. The kind of person she once despised. Fast forward about fifteen years and Ben watches the woman he came to despise be jilted at the altar…not even Jessica deserves that. Ben sets out to help Jessica overcome the most humiliating day of her life and possibly bring the person he knew as his best friend back to the surface.

I’ve read quite a few Abigail Strom books and this might be one of my favorites. I really liked these two. I have to admit that in the beginning I was not a Jessica fan but by the end of the book, I was rooting for her one hundred percent. What I also liked about this book? There weren’t very many other characters. That’s right it was primarily Jessica and Ben. Normally I’m all about supporting characters and how the main characters interact and their relationships with friends and family, but this book didn’t need that. It was just Jessica and Ben for ten days (I think or maybe it was seven), getting to know each other all over again.

As with most of Abigail’s books there is quirky humor which I absolutely love. There’s not too much else to say except this was a good read, enjoyable storyline…a pleasant experience.

When his old friend Jessica is getting married, she sends Ben an invite. He doesn't want to go, but his parents insist, as Jessica and Ben were childhood friends. Best friends until one day Jessica dropped him like a hot potato. During her wedding, with all her family and friends looking on- Jess is on the one dropped like a hot potato. Despite the past, Ben helps Jessica and ends up going on her honeymoon with him.

I'll be honest. In the beginning of this book, I didn't much like Jessica. She came off snobby. Ben was real. I could not, for the life of me, figure out just how the author was going to make this work. Then Ms. Strom broke my heart, the path Jessica takes is not only towards love, but also towards making herself whole again. She is ripping off old band-aids and finally healing the wounds on her soul.

A highly recommended read!

Jessica Bullock wanted to make changes to her future in order to forget the past - which included Ben taggart.

When Jessica is left at the altar and completely broken by her groom to be, Ben Taggart steps up to help mend the broken heart of his childhood friend by joining her on what was supposed to be her honeymoon to Bermuda. When sparks fly, she rediscovers her past which ultimately should have been her future.

This book is a great read and even though I felt a tad disconnected from the characters, I did enjoy the read. The story is set at just the right pace, but could have focused less on the erotic details, which seemed to drag on. The ending felt rushed and was a tad anti-climactic to what I was expecting. I love happy endings, but this one was a bit predictable.

What happens?
Jessica is going to get married to her best friend, when he backs out leaving her at the altar she isn't mad or sad just rather disappointed she is going to be alone after all.
Ben was her best friend during school and so feels some sort of attachment to the Jessica he used to know and believes she isn't the same person however when he sees her left there at the altar he can't leave her there without support and convinces her to go on her honeymoon with him as friends to get away from the chaos after the non event.
During the honeymoon Jessica wants to finally make good on the chemistry she has always felt between Ben and her wanting to finally do something spontaneous and different.
Final thoughts
This was a sweet romance. I really enjoyed reading this. I thought Jessica was kind of sad in a sweet way, she was trying to be a version of herself that fit into everyone's idea because she is a people pleaser. I think that a lot of people relate to that, I relate to that but I've not managed 'skinny' status sadly I think the curves are here to stay... Ben was a typical guy, well I think you're perfect why can't you see it. However you can forget that just because YOU believe someone looks good if they don't feel good then that is what matters to them more, being thin isn't necessarily being healthy and being fat isn't necessarily unhealthy (yes there are exceptions for both) so I think it took his character longer to realise that she is still the same just because she lost weight didn't make her bad.

If you are looking for a sweet fast paced easy going romance then this is a book you should read. A little drama at the beginning to set the story off but after that not so much. The writer doesn't try to over do things with creating ridiculous and over reaching obstacles to this love story. Instead she focuses on the two characters rebuilding a friendship they once had and from there it blooms to much more. At times it can seem like the hearts and strings emotions of the characters is moving too fast but when you take into account that they had history prior to reconnecting it makes sense. This is a story of "still waters run deep" kind of story. Starts off as all fun and games and then it turns into so much more when Ben and Jessica's vacation fling is anchored in friendship and trust and lust.

Is this a love story for the ages? Nope. Is it full of moments that make your gut wretch and your heart sink? Nope. Is this a love story a person could read in short time, a story that makes you root for the couple to find their happy ending, and a book a person may enjoy revisiting some day? The answer is yes.

Our leading man, Ben, is charming and chivalrous and supportive and unaware that he needs as much saving as he likes to save others. Our leading lady, Jessica, has baggage that makes her a bit distant at the beginning and hard to read but after a few cocktails on her first night in Bermuda she starts to shed some of her armor and expose herself to Ben and the readers. Her personal baggage is touched on but it's not heavy handed so where the story loses focus on the couple. Rather it's just a subject that is the catalyst to personal growth for Jessica and an opening for Ben to understand Jessica more in a clearer picture and to appreciate her more.

I'm very glad that Amazon recommend this book.

I really enjoyed the different setting of this book.

Jessica Bullock gets stood up at the altar by her fiancé. Ben Taggart (Jessica's crush from way back when) is attending said not-gonna-happen-wedding. Sounds kinda cliché up until this moment, amiright?

But then: Never in his wildest dreams would Ben Taggart have imagined he’d be escorting Jessica on her honeymoon to Bermuda. I mean that makes for an interesting start to the story already!

I gotta say, I went into this expecting a pretty shallow story, like other romance novels. However, this book offers up backgrounds that give it more depth and make the characters simply seem more real (as real as fake characters can be).

Just one tiny flaw that made me grown at times, was the whole "popular kids" thing from the characters' high school years. Strom made it sound like that in order to be popular you had to look and behave in a way that isn't true to yourself or be mean. It isn't always like that. This part of the story just felt kind of off to me, like she was unnecessarily shaming some kids for being popular. Ok, rant over.

All in all it was a nice & sweet read that made me smile and kept me up way longer than I intended to stay up.

I thoroughly enjoyed this adorable romance about a society girl who's repressed her true self for practically her whole life, and the old friend from high school who spontaneously offers to go with her on what was supposed to be her honeymoon when her marriage of convenience falls through. Jessica and Ben are both delightful, admirable protagonists, and I loved their growing friendship and attraction.

I was a little nervous about the fact that the heroine had trouble feeling desire for others, as I initially saw it as a tired trope of "only the hero's magic you-know-want will awaken me to Pants Feelings" but actually there turned out to be a root cause that Jessica had repressed so deeply that she'd even hidden it from the inner monologue for the reader. And I thought the author dealt with it very well.

Trigger warning:

Sweet and sexy

Jessica and Ben have known each other their entire lives. When Jessica gets a little bit older they grow apart and Ben barely recognizes who she is.

Later in life Jessica is getting ready to get married and Ben goes to the wedding at his mother's request. When the wedding doesn't work out Ben helps Jessica find out who she is and what she really wants in life.

I found this book to be absolutely endearing and full of hot steamy wonderful sex. I was not expecting this book to be as wonderful as it was. And with audible narration it became one of my favorite go-to things for when I took a walk. I'm so glad that I was able to find this book and read the wonderful words that this author had to prepare for me.

I definitely look forward to reading more things by this author.

Cute love story. Jessica is all set to get married to the guy she's been living with. Her old friend, Ben is dragged to the wedding by his Mom.
But at the wedding the groom's boyfriend stops it. (Kind of a dick move. Couldn't he have stopped it before the wedding? Did this need an audience?) Anyway, Jessica is happy for the groom because he is finally going to be with the man he loves and then invites everyone to come to the reception. She comes off as a strong person, but couldn't they have worked all this out before her parents paid for the wedding?
Her friend, Ben tells her to go on the honeymoon any way and have fun. Its already paid for and nonrefundable. After a few drinks she agrees and he offers to go to Bermuda with her.
This is where the love story begins. Its very romantic with some pretty hot sex. Good love story.

This was a really good book with a happy ending. Bride gets jilted at the alter leaving her embarrassed and humiliated. Friend from her childhood steps in and tells her to fight for her happiness and for herself. He gets her to look beyond the moment and gets her to look at what is ahead. He tells her she should still go on the honeymoon as a present to herself. Jessica says that she can't go on her honeymoon alone. Ben and Jessica volley back and forth as to why she should go and why she shouldn't go. In the end, Ben agrees to go with Jessica as a platonic friend to help see her through this tough situation.

The characters were developed very well and believable. The book was well written without typos and grammar errors. It is a light quick read that really gets you in the "feels"!

I didn’t read any of books in this series except this one, but i enjoy it.
Jessica always chase after a perfection. she cut any connections with her best fiend Ben in High school, she change herself to be prettier, to be be popular, she ignore Ben, the only person who play with her from she was little, Ben never understand the reason why.
Many years, Jessica have a wedding with the boy everyone think is her boyfriend, but is not, he’s gay, he left her at the wedding to go with his lover, Jessica knew he was gay when they are friend in college. Ben suggested that she should to her honeymoon with him to forgot about all the past, and find her truth self.
In that trip, they felt in love and have sex, expect each other to say before they wen5 to normal, but neither of them express their feeling,
I love this book, even though it’s had some steamy scenes in it.

Easy read. When a girl gets left at the alter it's bad enough but then to go to her own reception with a stiff upper lip. That's courage. Then her best friend from Jr High School goes on the planned Honeymoon with her and her life is completely changed. I would recommend this book to any romantic who wants to spend some time on an island surrounded by the beautiful blue ocean.

I had mixed feelings about this book. I liked the main characters. They were sweet together. I guess what bothered me was the end of the book when I don't know. I almost cried because the scenes towards the end annoyed me so much. If it wasn't because I liked the first 2 thirds, I would have given it 2 stars.
