Terus terang, akhir-akhir ini bacaan saya jadi manga melulu, yang pertama karena setiap hari saya selalu mendapat pop up notifikasi dari aplikasi manga yang saya gunakan di gadget, yang kalo dibaca sinopsisnya keliatannya menarik, akhirnya ya bookmark. Yang kedua melihat timeline teman-teman Goodreads yang memberikan rating bagus ke manga tertentu, saya jadi ikut tertarik membaca. Jika memang menarik, tentu bakal saya lalap sampai habis, meski kadang masih ongoing. huh...
Cerita dari manga ini snagat berbeda dari beberapa manga remaja yang akhir-akhir ini saya baca. Kalo biasanya isinya banyak cinta-cintaan remaja, meski bumbunya berbeda, tapi kali ini konfliknya lebih dalam: keluarga, persahabatan, dan kepercayaan diri.
Yukimi alias Bambi adalah gadis yang selalu tampak sempurna di permukaan, di rumah atau di sekolah. Di rumah, ia menjadi role model yang sempurna bagi adiknya, dan anak patuh bagi orangtuanya. Di sekolah, di beberapa semester ia menjadi ketua kelas, ketua komite moral yang saklek, dan memiliki pacar idaman para gadis di sekolahnya. Tapi siapa sangka jika Yukimi ternyata hanya memunculkan image itu seolah-olah dia adalah gadis baik-baik. Siapa sangka juga jika ia merokok di sekolah, ketika ia benar-benar sendirian.
Topeng Yukimi ini akhirnya terbuka sedikit demi sedikit ketika Tetsu anak baru yang misterius. muncul, Tetsu memang unik. Tanpa banyak bicara, ia mengetahui 'belang' Yukimi, dan Yukimi pun secara kebetulan mengetahui latarbelakang Tetsu yang tidak ingin dibeberkan di public. Mereka seperti memiliki kesepakatan pribadi untuk tidak membocorkan rahasia satu sama lain. Tapi siapa sangka jika dengan ini mereka justru mampu membuka diri masing-masing.
Latar belakang mengapa Yukimi menjadi sosok demikian sempurna di luar, tapi rapuh di dalam dijelaskan cukup detil di cerita. Demikian juga masa lalu Tetsu. Sempat patah hati saya ketika Tetsu mengatakan tidak akan jatuh cinta karena cinta masa lalunya. Lagipula hubungan Yukimi dan sang pacar yang makin hot. Ugh... Saya heran, kenapa para remaja Jepang menganggap bahwa berhubungan sex before marriage itu adalah hal yang sangaaattt biasa. Bahkan beberapa dari mereka malu ketika mereka 'tidak ngapa-ngapain' dengan pacar mereka. Okkkeeee.... Ehhmm... beda pandangan aja sih dengan saya yang masih kolot gini. Tapi karena tontonan saya juga banyak Jejepangan, ya akhirnya ngerti sih :D
Banyak pertanyaan seputar keluarga yang diajukan disini. Kenapa seorang anak dilahirkan jika akhirnya harus dibuang, seperti kisah Yukimi. Ketika seorang anak lahir, kenapa sang orangtua masih mempertanyakan kesiapan mereka akan kehadiran seoang anak? Dan amsih banyak pertanyaan nyesek lainnya.
Selain tentang keluarga, manga ini juga banyak menyentuh tentang persahabatan, arti seorang sahabat dan bagaimana sebuah masalah itu tidak akan selesai tanpa didiskusikan, meski diskusi itu harus melalui pertengakaran yang panjang. Duuuhh... Banyak sekalai hal yang bisa dipelajari dari manga pendek ini. Rasanya sayang harus berpisah meski ending masih cukup nggantung, tinggal satu chapter terakhir. Sebenarnya sih sudah bisa diprediksi endingnya, tapi tetap saja saya butuh kejelasan hahaha...
Recommended buat yang suka manga jenis slice of life yang dalam... Give me more doongg... ;)

Akhir-akhir ini jadi baca manga mulu.... Padahal bukan karena lagi kejar target biar reading challengenya kelar, tapi memang kebetulan aja. Sama seperti dari akhir tahun lalu sampai tengah tahun ini, kerjaan saya nonton Korea-koreaan. Nonton dramanya, variety shownya, bahkan stalking idol-idolnya... XDD
Lalu kemudian ketika kecantol ke Jepang lagi, sayapun kembali ke jalan yang lurus... *halah
Begitu nonton satu anime, lanjut ke anime-anime yg lain. Dan sekarang kerjaan saya tiap hari nonton anime. Sama juga dengan baca manga. Begitu baca, maka saya akan tenggelam di dunia per-manga-an. Dimulai dari "Solanin", lalu nggak bisa berhenti sampai sekarang....
Alhamdulillah manga yang saya baca kisahnya unik-unik. Dari manga yang saya sebut di atas, lalu "Koe no Katachi", dan sekarang ini. Tampaknya saya memang penggemar genre-genre romance-slice of life. Yang melow-melow gitu lah...
Manga ini sebenarnya penyampaiannya gak melow-melow amat, tapi menurut saya sangat dalam. Awal baca sinopsisnya yang berbahasa Jepang, saya pun seperti teman-temannya Yukimi. Baca kanjinya sebagai "Banbi" (^ム^)
Kisahnya unik, tentang si Banbi yang selalu tampil sempurna di hadapan orang lain, tapi sebenarnya merasa tak punya tempat di mana dia bisa jadi dirinya sendiri dan Tetsu, seorang siswa SMA yang punya anak lelaki berumur 3 tahun.... (lalu ingat dorama "14sai no Haha")
Meskipun saya sebenarnya sudah bertekad untuk gak baca manga on going, tapi apa boleh buat, ternyata ini ceritanya bagus. Heuheuheuu... Jadilah selama semalaman kemarin saya baca ini sampai episode terakhir yang ada di situs manga onlennya. Penantian menunggu manga yang dibaca tamat itu memang menyesakkan. Ada dilema antara ingin ceritanya lebih panjang dan ingin cepat-cepat tahu akhir ceritanya.
Jadi, ya begitulah...

Clean art, strong female protagonist, engaging emotional plot, and loved the granny. Nevertheless will not be re-reading ever because I disliked the whole premise so much (e.g. Sachi). I kept reading because there was going to be a plot twist regarding if Raichi's actually the son but nope, it is what's stated.
Look, if you're 20-something and your doctor tells you you can't ever be pregnant without endangering your life and your boyfriend breaks up with you over it, obviously that sucks. You get drunk, you cry, maybe you throw something. What you DON'T DO is go have one night stand unprotected sex with your friend, who's in MIDDLE SCHOOL, decide to keep the baby once you figure out you're pregnant, even though your doctor told you you'll die and your parents will be crushed and/or disown you over it, DIE and therefore leaving A MIDDLE SCHOOL KID trying to juggle high school and a freaking baby at the same time while he's getting disowned by HIS parents. WHAT WERE YOU THINKING, WOMAN?? More so than her questionable life choices is my anger at her taking advantage of a 13 year old kid who just found out his childhood friend's about to die. Friendship can and should bridge age gaps, cultural gaps, gender gaps, etc., but as the adult in the relationship, YOU DON'T DO THIS. You're traumatized, he's traumatized. HE'S A KID. WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?
The only reason why this didn't hit the CLOCKWORK ORANGE's level of I'd-throw-this-across-the-room-in-rage-except-this-is-a-library-copy is because as much as I hate the premise, I really like all the rest of the characters, especially the granny and Yukimi, the female protagonist. But for the reason stated above and the immense squick factor, I will NOT be re-reading this.

Really different from what I was expecting. A middle school father it's a scenario I would never think of a manga.
The relationship Tetsu is growing with Bambi is cute as a child and deep as an adult. There is still a lot to know about Tetsu but suddenly Bamby is becoming mysterious. Although, Riechi it's a huge help to understand Tetsu. Only Tetsu can help understand Bambi.
In the beginning, I thought she was just an imperfect character but now she is deep and carries a lot of problems that turn her into what she is. After all, Bambi wants to get along with everybody not because she has low self-esteem instead because she has real issues that make her that way. Similar to a mask for not be hurt. Unfortunately, that is exactly what she gets.

Wow! This manga is refreshing because it's not your typical drama in which a girl falls in love with a mysterious guy.

I honestly tried liking this shoujo manga but the author seems to have included a disjointed story that doesn't make sense and the art was rather sloppy. I'm disappointed that this story wasn't potential as I thought at first, because the guy is a teen dad and it would've been good to see the challenges he faces as a dad. However there just wasn't enough emotion or intense drama involved. Yeah I'm out...

After years, this is still my all time favorite manga series of all time. If I could only read one more thing for the rest of my life, it would be this without a doubt. Tetsu is a father in high school, but he's hiding it. Bambi is not as perfect as her reputation, but she's hiding it. The two (after a not so sweet encounter) stumble upon each other's secret. Though they may not like each other, they soon realize that they can't go to anyone but each other (since no one else knows their secrets). Obviously, a beautiful romance blossoms. This story is very real and deals with real topics (plus, theres a cute little boy).
This deals with cheating, the fact that your first love isn't your only love, growing from grief and learning to move on with your life, dealing with messed up families, teen parenting, adulting/growing up, finding yourself, finding out your family isn't really related to you by blood, losing a significant other, being forced to grow up at a young age, real love at a young age, learning that not all real love lasts, bullying, lying, living up to your word, figuring out family doesnt have to be blood (or even adopted family), being abandoned at birth, being compared, sibling jealousy, not being able to forget your first love, insecurities, under age smoking, putting up a face, and trying to be perfect/trying to please everyone. Which incorporates humor, mystery, good cries, cute babies, and so much more. (There really is so much more since I only got this from the reread I was doing a few months ago that I didn't really get that far in).
I loved this story because both main characters had a complex life like the rest of us and it just felt like an amazing twist on the normal high school romance stories. I love how real it felt since they didn't have immediate romance and you got to see their love blossom. I laughed so hard I cried, I cried so hard I choked. This story made my heart warm and this has always and will always be my favorite manga series.
This story is not some ordinary cheesy romance. Both of the main characters are mature/maturing and you get to see their lives in full. The Bambi goes through so much and you get to see her try to find herself throughout the whole story. The Tetsu has a child you get to see how it's affected his life and he has to start adulting. You witness true love of a family and just love in general and its just the beautiful.
Basically, this is a must read manga that I would recommend anyone even if it isn't your preferred taste (I certainly didn't think I liked this story). The story is as heartwarming and beautiful as the art and words can never express my love for this. This doesn't get enough recognition. If you can't tell, I love it so much I want to be buried with it.
Also sorry if this is pretty bad, this is my first good reads review.
