Yet another charming cozy from Benning. I'm really loving this serious. Each mystery is fun and interesting, the food is mouth watering, and the budding romance between Movies and David is so fun. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

Moira’s deli continues to gain popularity. She has even found it necessary to hire a new employee. In the midst of her happiness a tragedy strikes. Her dear friend is found after what appears to be an accident in her home. When it is discovered that Emilia’s death was suspicious in nature Moira begins to worry she may have placed her trust in a killer.
This book was even more enjoyable than book 1. I was a bit disappointed that Dante's storyline was left dangling. I hope to learn more about him in the next book. The characters continue to develop nicely. The action in the book moves along nicely.

What a fun quick read! I finished it in a sitting because it was so good. At the beginning of Corned Beef Murder: Book Two in The Darling Deli Series a big snow storm is coming. And she has reconnected with an old friend, Emilia Washburn. She used to babysit for Candice. She was really excited to see her and her sister Martha in the deli. Martha has been taking care of Emilia since her health has been failing. Martha had to go out of town for a few days and asked Moira if she would check up on her sister. Of course Moira agreed and Martha gave her a key. Next thing she knows the snow starts and she and Candice are stuck at the house with no power. Moira begins to worry about her friend but then receives a phone call from her. Only problem is that the line is full of statics and can't really hear her. The roads are impassable and decides she will stop by tomorrow when the roads clear. When she is able to get to the house it is eerily quiet. She finds her friend at the bottom of the stairs dead! Everyone is telling her it was just an accident but Moira's gut is telling her something else.
Why would anyone want to kill Emilia? The police have ruled it an accident, what is she going to do??? Moira decides to call her PI friend David to try and get to the bottom of it.
This was such a fun cozy read. I love these characters and how they are developing. Every time I read these books I get so hungry. The author does an amazing job of describing the food that you want to eat everything they're eating.
Can't wait for the next installment of The Darling's Delicious Deli Series.

"I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review".

Corned Beef Murder, the second in the Darling Deli series, is as wonderfully written as the first one. Patti Benning is a talented up and coming author, she writes sparingly, but surprisingly covers details that move the book along. Even though I guessed the killer, right away, the proving it by Moira kept my interest. David Morris was a welcome character, still in the works (?). Candace, Moira's daughter, has brought in a subject that will keep the series going, if that is in the plans........ I will be waiting patiently for the next in the series.
Good luck to you Patti.

Could it be Murder?

This was a good short story and I can't wait for the next one. I loved that Candice has decided what she wants to do with her life and how much her mother supports her in her dreams. One thing I didn't like was a question I have that they didn't answer in this book. I hope it is to be explained in the next one and not just an oversight on the author's part. I could almost taste the soups as the author described them in the story. Certainly made me hungry!

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

I'm really enjoying this series, the only problem is it makes me hungry for the foods that are being made for the deli. I really like the characters and the pacing of the story. This is a quick read. perfect for when you want to read something but don't have time for a lengthy read. I'm really looking forward to reading more in this series.

I received a complimentary copy of this novel from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

A fun and fast paced cozy mystery. I love all the characters and they all work so well together. Curious about why Dante is always so nervous? I wish there were recipes for the food mentioned in the book. They sound yummy and they were making me hungry. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

Another fun read by Patti Benning. Again the mystery isn't hard to figure out but I still had a lot of fun reading the story and meeting with Moira, Candice, David and the Deli staff again. Don't miss out on this one! :)

Kindle Unlimited, used to cozies, and tend to cut them slack, BUT...These are all as bad, and will do with review what the 'writer' did with the books, copy/paste cookie cutter. Each of these books are beyond stupid, as in stupid plots stupid situations stupid obvious solutions/killers, and no idea about what is being written about. She keeps writing about 'cooking' and judging by her 'expert' descriptions, she can't boil water. There are major plot flaws and issues and other problems in every single overpriced very short 'book' that still managed to do in every one without fixing glaring problems, one being redundancy of previous unneeded descriptions.

There are 4 stupidly insipid books in the Killer Cookie Series
Killer Caramel Cookies #1 - Killer Halloween Cookies #2 - Killer Maple Cookies #3 - Crunchy Christmas Murder #4

There are 8 insipidly stupid book, in the Papa Pacelli's Pizzeria Series
Pall Bearers and Pepperoni - Book 1 - Bacon Cheddar Murder: Book 2 - Very Veggie Murder: Book 3 - Italian Wedding Murder: Book 4 - Smoked Gouda Murder: Book 5 - Gourmet Holiday Murder: Book 6 - Four Cheese Murder: Book 7 - Hand Tossed Murder Book 8

There are 19 equally bad The Darling Deli Series
Pastrami Murder: Book One - Corned Beef Murder: Book Two - Cold Cut Murder: Book Three - Grilled Cheese Murder: Book 4 - Chicken Pesto Murder: Book 5 - Thai Coconut Murder: Book 6- Tomato Basil Murder: Book 7 - Salami Murder: Book 8 - Hearty Homestyle Murder: Book 9 - Honey BBQ Murder: Book 10 - Beef Brisket Murder: Book 11 - Garden Vegetable Murder: Book 12 - Spicy Lasagna Murder: Book 13 - Curried Lobster Murder: Book 14 - Creamy Casserole Murder: Book 15 - Grilled Rye Murder: Book 16 - A Quiche To Die For: Book 17 - A Side of Murder: Book 18 -

“Corned Beef Murder”, second in the 'Darling Deli' series, sees Maple Creek snowed in.
Deli owner Moira Darling had promised to visit an elderly friend but, despite an alarming phone call from her, has to wait until the roads are ploughed.
By then it is too late, Emilia is dead after apparently falling down the stairs.
But Moira remains unconvinced and decides to investigate with the help of her 'not boyfriend' David Morris.
Both arrive at the killer's identity almost simultaneously but Moira may have made a big mistake when she presses on alone.
Each book in the series is just over 100 pages long, something which severely affects character and plot depth.
Even so it is a fairly good read.
2.5 Stars, raised to 3 Stars.

I've now read the first 2 books in the series. I have the same thoughts as I did for book 1. The plot has potential but never lives up to it. The characters lack development. The entire setting lacks development. I still know nothing about the town or its inhabitants. The police are still stereotypes. David suspects Dante and confronts him and then...nothing. Dante obviously was hiding something but we never find out what. Maybe in the next book. Again, the murderer was obvious and the title had nothing to do with the story. The scene in the hotel was almost laughable instead of being climactic. Since I bought the box set of the first 3 books, I'll go ahead and read the next one.

Moira was becoming quite the sleuth and determined to find who killed her good friend who wouldn't have harmed a flea and had no apparent enemies. She joined forces again with David to get to the bottom of things and ended up in a nail biting showdown with the killer.

I did figure out who the killer was this time, but there were some good distractions. I tried not to let them sway me this time and was happy to find out I was right about the perp. I just love Moira and David working together. He's very sweet, caring and super patient with her!

This was a fun little book, the mystery was interesting as Moira had to figure out how to get the police to reopen the case. Like the last book, Moira called in David who did most of the work. I enjoyed the fact that though Moira is investigating, she is still relying on the professional to do most of the work. Moira however, just happens in the situations and doesn’t actively go head first into the situation.

A strong second book in the series

Things are going well with the deli but there was a major snow storm on the way. As Moira is closing up the deli for the day and putting together supplies to bring home to ride out the storm her friend Martha comes in with her sister. While there she asks Moira to look out for her sister as she is going out of town . The storm hits and closes everything down. Then the mystery begins. A fun read.

This book is way too short. The characters are interesting but the main character doing the investigating doesn’t really get into the plot very much. It seems like just when she starts to get some evidence and start to do some real sleuthing a big event happens where the killer is revealed and the story is brought to a conclusion. A bit more depth into the plot would have been nice.

Fun, quick read

I really enjoyed this book, and couldn't put it down. However, I do not understand why Moira did not call the police after receiving the phone call. She seemed to be an intelligent woman, but there was no thought put into that one. Having said that, I would recommend, and I would like to read more.

Great

First I was not sure if I already read this book before, and still not sure because it seems familiar. This is a clear indication my memory is shot because I always remember what I read before. Yet I guess it is good to read again so I can give this review, Moira is a busy buddy. She no longer has her daughter to raise so her focus has turned to getting involved with things she shouldn't. You would figure after coming close to being murdered she'd learn her lesson, but I'm sure the author won't see it that way. I love the character David, and the two policemen. So if I did read this before well be seeing one of them in Moira life soon. I figured who the person was as soon as his character was introduced,it was kind of obvious, please give me more of a challenge. Love the story line about to read the next story. Keep them coming please.

I can only give this 4 stars because I didn't like why they didn't explain the situation with Dante. I mean if the shoes matched why was he always looking nervous? Was he related to James or did he go to the house? It just through me off.

This book was very good and I love how it somewhat refereed back to the first book just to give a little background. I love that Candice wants to go out on her own but she needs to hook her mom up with David. Hopefully by the next book, someone will ask someone on a date.

Once again another great book from Patti Bennig and Summer Prescott Books & Publishing.

Who done it

A quick read and a fun story. Takes a blizzard, a murder that looks like a natural death and a snoopy deli owner and what do you get? A great story to read during a lunch break.
