Hyderabad Hazir Writings from the City of Nizams holds a mirror to the city that is not only historically rich and glorious but has also in recent times emerged as a booming economic hub. Hyderabad is a city that you can never have enough of once you fall in love with it. The inent is to capture the city's matchless indefatigable spirit that echoes in the heart of every Hyderabadi.
The anthology is a tribute to the fascinating city of Hyderabad. Nineteen authors have contributed on subjects varying from the food culture, theater and architecture to the real estate and modern weddings. Three articles stand out- The piece by Rani Sarma on the Deodis of Hyderabad most of which have now been demolished, Another Day, another time by Mithi Chinoy on Parsees of Hyderabad and Peiec by Mohammad Ali Baig on Hyderabadi theater. Overall an excellent read which in under 170 pages covers all the facets of this city.
Ok read. Collection of assorted topics on Hyderabad. Some sections feel corporate copy/paste. Also a bit disappointing that there were minimal coverage on the Telugu culture of Hyderabad(except for mentioning the source of tanginess in food) and focuses almost fully on the "Nizam" side of cuisine, weddings etc
