He's the ultimate British bad boy. She's the straight-laced career girl with a huge secret. She knows she should stay away from him...
Callum: "So easy. Why are all these women so damned easy?"
It's not just the women, either.
Everything's easy for me. Brought up on the rough streets of South London, all I want to do is fight, f$&k and have a good time.
Until Lily Morgan shows up one night at the illegal boxing club where I make money beating the hell out of hedge-fund jerks and soft City boys. She's a good girl. I can see that as she sits there in her prim little cardigan.
But there's something there in her dark eyes as she watches the sweat drip down my bare chest after the final bell rings. Something that says she knows she shouldn't be enjoying it... but she can't help herself.
Lily: "I've seen him fight. I know the score. But if he thinks I'm going to drop to my knees at the first cocky grin he throws my way, he's got a real challenge on his hands."
Callum Cross is trouble.
It's written all over his gorgeous face. The first time I saw him was at the illegal boxing club south of the river.
I know his type. Genetically blessed, used to getting his own way, skilled at using the kind of arrogant, masculine charm that has women desperate to be with him and men wishing they could be him.
He thinks I'm going to be easy like the rest of them. Too bad I'm about to prove him wrong. I didn't come to London to meet a man. I came to get a simple job done.
And absolutely nothing about Callum Cross says 'simple.'
Author's Note: Hot Blooded is a hot, sexy, full-length (~90k words), standalone romance novel with a HEA and NO cliffhangers! Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is intended for readers over 18.

Hot British boxer bad boy. Beauty, brains and guts female undercover police officer lead.......how can you not get into this book ?. This is Callum and Lily's tale. This is more than your opposites attract, "lets get together" love story. There is a mega "who did it?" , twist, heat, murder plot.......very action packed. Something a little grittier than our average "bad boy" reads. Older women and slightly younger guy thrown into the mix and I found it an all round damn fine read.
Well done Jessica and many thanks for this opportunity xx
Yes, give me my own British Bad Boy immediately, because I REALLY, thoroughly, enjoyed this story! Normally I'm one to read a book as quickly as possible so that I can move on to the next. With this, as much as I didn't want to put it down and keep reading, I took my time to savor it because I didn't want it to end.
This is the first book I've read by this author, and I received it as an ARC. I love her writing style. Enough description to give me an idea of what's going on, but not so bogged down with detail that I get distracted from the actual story and start losing interest. The pace was great. Plenty of action, enough going on that it kept my attention throughout the ENTIRE story - I didn't skip over a single sentence.
The characters were great. I was given enough of them alone, interacting with others, and interacting with one another to get a very clear sense of their personalities and become invested in them as characters. It was the kind of story where I could 'feel' what was going on. My heart would speed up, or skip a beat, or say awwww and melt. I love when an author is able to capture my emotions through her characters! I loved watching not just the romance, but different areas of their lives unfold.
Solid 5 star book for me, didn't even have to ponder it. At 50% I already knew I was going to give it 5 stars. Even as I read the very last sentence and came to the end, I was still completely invested in the story. Jessica Lake has gained a new fan. I'm most definitely going to look into her other books.
"I wanted to pursue her, to conquer her. And she wanted to be conquered, I could feel it."
Lily is a Canadian transplant working as a DCI in the Met Police. Her first undercover assignment takes her to Streatham Working Men’s Club where she catches Callum’s eye.
Callum lives in the moment. He has an easy life living in a rent-free flat and taking part in illegal bare-knuckle fighting for his boss, Gazza, who is almost like a father figure to him. Callum is used a revolving door of women but, for some reason, Lily more than catches his eye – she sinks beneath his skin and invades his mind constantly.
Lily is focused on her job and doesn’t trust easily. However, there’s something about Callum that gets to her and she’s scared of her feelings. Add to mix that he’s a possible suspect in the murder investigation she is conducting.
The novel is set in London and the author writes with a very strong, British voice (except for the occasional Americanism lapse) and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I thought both Callum and Lily were strong characters but, when it came to love, both were vulnerable and unsure. However, when things heat up and their lives are endangered, are they willing to take a leap of faith and believe that what they’re fighting for is worth losing everything else for?
Look forward to reading more from this author.

I really enjoyed this story of a police officer working undercover to find a murderer who falls for a young fighter who is a suspect.
Callum grew up in a tough neighborhood. He is young (23) and takes advantage of the women that offer themselves to him so easily. When he sees Lily come into the club, he knows something is different about her.
Lily is older and tries to resist the attraction. She needs information and he is a good resource but she starts to care about him and not believe he could be involved in the murder. Her feelings could jeopardize the case and her career.
The author really developed the characters. There are many times when these two just talk for hours about their lives and Callum really opens up to her. They have strong chemistry but their connection goes beyond a physical attraction. You really feel like you watch them fall in love.
There are some surprises you won't see coming and you won't want to stop until you read it all to the end.
Loved hot blooded, Loved the story line loved the characters, Loved how it was written.
Lets start with Lily, under cover cop for the first time trying to catch the person who murdered their witness. Shes smart, very observant and has great instincts. Nothing will get in her way until Callum, Lily has to pick between comprising the job or protect Callum when they reach a breaking point in the case that can change every thing.
Callum is a small time boxer who doesn't want to go pro. Happy to live his life the way it is. Doing small jobs for Gaza every now and then. But things start to not add up. Gaza becoming paranoid about whos in the pub, Dodge deals and not being told about the job. Soon Callum starts to want out but doesn't want to leave Lily behind. Lily is the only girl who made him chase always holding back.
The story is brillaint and keeps you guessing about who the murder was. Espically liked switching between both Characters and it gave you an insight to whats happening on both ends. Loved the ending as well.

This may work for you, but it did not work for me.
Lily goes with her "girlfriends" to the bar where Callum is. Lily and Callum feel this connection. I did not feel the connection. Lily is an undercover police officer. Callum does not know this. He just thinks that she works at some firm. Callum is a drug dealer. Then Lily has a sex buddy, Sam, and honestly I felt like things were just thrown in the story to make it interesting. This is how I felt. You may feel differently.
I wanted to love this story. I thought it had everything I would love, but it just all felt awkward to me.
I am becoming less and less a fan of dual POVs especially when they happen frequently. I know that is a personal preference.

This is a really good book. I enjoyed reading about Callum and Lily, their story is very exciting and sexy. I love that this story wasn't hurried or cut down to 90 pages. This is a full story (over 300 pages), so we get to see their story develop and learn more about them which only made this story better. Lots of details, good characters and mystery and suspense, who could ask for anything more. I couldn't, I loved it. Definitely would recommend to anyone who loves a bad boy. I received this ARC in an exchange for an honest review. Although I felt I've read this same storyline before it was still very interesting to read. Lily is undercover and she falls in love with the suspect, Callum, who happens to be a fighter. I really had issues with the age difference. I rather the man be the older one not the woman, but oh well. The sex was off the charts which was a plus for me and the main characters chemistry was noticeable. I do recommend this book to everyone.
This is a really intense read that I couldn't get enough of! I loved the idea of the police officer and the bad boy falling for each other and the chemistry between Lily and Callum was off the charts explosive! This is the first book I've read by this author, but it definitely won't be the last. I highly recommend this to anyone to read and I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Who does'nt fall for a hot British bad boy ?? I loved the characters and the story line. This was a really good book and I enjoyed reading it. the author did a good job on both the story line and characters. I would recommend this book if you 're in for British bad boys and strong sexy women. I received this ARC book free in exchange for an honest review.
I loved this book! Great storyline, strong characters, and not ashamed to show their soft sides. Very British, loved seeing the terms used. I didnt want to put this book down, constant page turner, edge of your seat, heat, and twists. Everything a good story needs. Would recommend.
Hot Blooded was absolutely wonderful to read! I loved the location being somewhere other than America, the characters just came to life in my mind, and the story was so well written that I could not put it down! I was sad when it ended, which means it was a great read, but the ending was so damn sweet I couldn't be mad! Great read, I highly recommend it!
What a truly enjoyable book. Couldn't put it down. The way she is able to keep him guessing but still thinks he knows what is going on is great. And he is hot. I recommend it. This is one to curl up with and read. I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Not for me. Way too much storyline going on in the background. The characters just left me feeling blah, no interest in them. No investment in their story after a while.
