The Sherbrookes of Newport #7

Protecting the Billionaire

Rate this book
From the outside it appears as though billionaire Allison Sherbrooke lives a charmed life. She comes from a loving family and possesses the means to do anything she desires, not to mention her budding new romance with the sexy Marine she danced with at her brother Trent’s wedding.

Appearances can be deceiving though. All is not perfect in Allison’s world. Since her move to Virginia she’s had a stalker in the shadows.

Marine Corps Captain Rocco “Rock” Raimono has spent his life defending and protecting others. Now he must protect the woman he’s falling in love with from an obsessed stalker who wants Allison for himself. For Rock, failure is not an option.

Loved it! Cannot wait to go back and catch up on the others in the series. I love it when I find a new author and a new series.

Allison Sherbrooke could not have been more different than he he expected her to be and because she had a guy who wouldn't give up on her show up at dinner he got a chance to play fake boyfriend, except it moved way in to the real boyfriend.

Rock is shocked when Allison asks him to play along about being her new boyfriend but happy because he has wanted more of a chance to touch her since meeting her at his sister's wedding. He just never thought he'd get the chance, after all, they are from such different worlds. She calls the President Uncle Warren.

Now she has a stalker and she's scared and scared to admit it but when someone shoots Rock through his apartment window it's time. Rock also makes her get a bodyguard during the day and he moves in with her at night.

Things escalate in both the relationship side and the stalker side and Rock's leaving in a couple of weeks. He just hopes he can finish this before he leaves. Well, he gets his wish but not necessarily in the way he wants.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I really liked Rock, he was quite the sexy man, “you’d be surprised what you can do standing up.” He gave her butt a squeeze before he took a step back." Rock's timing sometimes isn't the best, “you’d make a terrible poker player.” They were naked and he wanted to talk about cards? “Your expressions give ya away.” I really liked this book.

This was one of the best romantic suspense novels I've read in a long time. Loved the characters, the storyline, the sexual tension, believability. Loved that the heroine was the billionaire. Love military men. I want to read this book all over again.

This can be read as a stand-alone, since I did it without reading any of the others from the series. But as other reviews have stated, I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had read the other books before this one first to get the back story of the secondary characters. There were a lot of secondary characters introduced, it got a bit confusing at first when so many of them were Sherbrookes.

The world building was good, the flow was decent, though the editing/proof-reading pulled me out of the book a lot, trying to sort out what was meant in places. It wasn't bad enough to quit reading the book. Rock as a hero was alright, I really felt I didn't learn much about him thru the whole book. I wanted to know what his job with the Marines entailed too. Allison didn't really inspire me to care. She was constantly denying the danger for what it really was. There is a decent ending -not a cliff hanger. Unfortunately, this book did not inspire me to want to read more in the series.

I love the Sherbrookes and have bought every book in the series. Power, wealth and family are the perfect adjectives for this group. However, LOVE is the backbone of all the success they have and individuality is what makes them a force to be reckoned with as a whole. When trouble finds them, as it often does, they handle it unitedly. Protecting the Billionaire is Allison's story. Wanting more than recognition for her family name, she seeks to make her own way in the world. When danger calls, she will need every ounce of her own strength to get through it. With a protective family, a determined marine and an unknown assailant, she has a lot on her plate. Protecting the Billionaire is full of heartstopping moments and adrenaline pumping twists. A pleasurable dive into the realm of romantic suspense.

I have read all The Sherbrooke Series and I don't ever tire of them. This is book 7 and I hope there is more to come in the series. I could not put this book down I was hooked from page 1. After all what's not to love about a Hot Marine ....... He is strong and sexy and he protects what is his.
Rock first met Allison at his sisters wedding, they shared a dance and then went there seperate ways. Allison believes her mind is playing tricks with her, she was sure she set her alarm and turned the lights off and she keeps getting that feeling I'm being watched...
Rock and Allison meet up again and his protective nature takes over and then romance blossoms.
This book has it all love, sex and suspense.

Rock and Allison

Another sweet, short romance from Christina Tetreault. Allison has a stalker and at the same time is entering a relationship with Rock, her sister-in-law's brother. Their burgeoning relationship cause the stalker to change his plans to include the murder of both of them.

We meet Conner, from Elite Security. We renew acquaintances with the Sherbrookes and their wives and even babies. It was easy enough to remember the lot of them. We even hear of a baddie that we'll meet in Born to Protect.

This romance had drama and intrigue in addition the steamy sex.

Allison Sherbrooke Billionaire & only girl in the Sherbrooke's might seem to live a charmed life. She has a loving family, career oriented & older brothers that would do anything to protect her. But that doesn't stop her from having a stalker who may have followed her during her recent move to Providence to work for Jake her cousin at his foundation. Though the moment she started & moved she has experienced strange incidents. A car following her caused her to have an accident where she ended up w/ a broken leg. With the accident Allison still didn't want her family, to know her concerns about being watched. Looks as though she might have an aggressive stalker, who is escalating his actions on physically hurting her.

Ally notices she keeps running into her Ex Charles. When she is obligated to go to the Foundation fundraiser dinner. Her family informs her that Charles, happened to get a ticket. Now he is coming to her family table. She asks her sister 'in law's brother Rock to pretend he is her current boyfriend.

This is the begging of Rock & Ally's romance.

Marine Corps Captain Rocco “Rock” Raimono has spent his life defending and protecting others. Now he must protect the woman he’s falling in love with from an obsessed stalker who wants Allison for himself. For Rock, failure is not an option.

Rock who has been stationed at Quantico, is currently on leave. He doesn't let his guard down. But he starting having feelings for Allision at his sister's wedding, when they danced. But thought nothing of it, since he is an Officer in the military, while she is from a millionaire family. It also just so happens the President of the United States, happens to be her Uncle Warren. What would Allison see in a hot military man. What wouldn't she see?
Once Rock got to know that she was nothing like the stereotype billionaire, he couldn't get her out of his mind. She was down to earth, thoughtful & everything he wanted in a woman. So when Ally asked him to play his boyfriend for the fundraising dinner. He had no qualms about helping her out. Even if it meant he would feel out of place in such a high society gathering.

When the stalker has now attempted to kill Rock after following Allison to his apartment. The plot gets intense since the stalker is always one step ahead of Rock & Allison. Especially after he witnesses Rock staying over night & finds condoms on the nightstand. Its time to kill them both. The stalker, has been to her condo, bedroom, left lights on & doors unlocked. Rock, her Twin & Jake will not allow Ally to stay in denial any longer. Since Jake & Trent have to stay with their wives since they are expecting. Rock has to go back to base & cannot protect Allison so they insist to hire her a body guard The plot gets suspenseful, but it has the romance & how Rock & Allison find each other in such a short period of time. What happens to the Stalker? Is it who we everyone suspects? Will the stalker win & harm both leads in the story. Read & find out?

Another Good Antidote to Pandemic Life

I recently read an article that claimed that Romance novels were an antidote to Pandemic life. It was written by someone new to the genre who never believed Romance novels were for her. She was surprised to find that in times in which social isolation is a necessity in order to live , novels involving close human contact, humor (And sex!) and most important a happily ever after ending, could help to ease the loneliness and pain that separation from others can cause. As a long time Romance reader , I can wholeheartedly agree with her conclusions. I am a rather eclectic reader, one of the few students in my local junior high and high school who actually enjoyed reading all the required books in school each year. Whether it was Dickens , Twain, or Shakespeare, I loved them all. Yet when I read for my own pleasure you would usually see me with Jane Austin, Georgette Beyer or in my later adult years, Nora Roberts and Danielle Steele. What I demand from my reading selections is a chance to temporarily escape my reality and experience a world where no matter how bad things get there is always a happily ever after!
Christina Tetreault writes my kind of fiction. She has a simple formula, where good triumphs over evil, right over wrong, and true love conquers all, guaranteeing that her characters live happily ever after! Protecting the Billionaire, book 7 in her Sherbrookes of Newport series, is the perfect example of a romance novel that provides an escape from difficult times we currently live in. There is lots of human interaction, emotions and physical touching to remind us of a time when masks and social distancing were unnecessary. Christine masterfully portrays American royalty , the Sherbrookes of Newport ,in a way that has you falling in love with these very real characters. She has built the Sherbrookes world in such a way you can imagine Newport as though you were really there. In Protecting the Billionaire, Christine's characters come alive and seem so real you will catch yourself speaking to them a loud, even when you are not alone! Christine also makes sure that her readers are along for a ride full of twists and turns, ups and downs, even while knowing that eventually everything will turn out just fine. So if you are looking for an escape from the COVID Blues, pick up Protecting the Billionaire, and enjoy a pleasant interlude with the Sherbrookes of Newport!

Protecting The Billionaire

This was a very exciting suspenseful romance and a great addition to the Sherbrookes of Newport series with Allison Sherbrooke confronting the love she was not even looking for with Rock, Ally's brother who was married to Trent. Allison had moved from Providence to work for Jake at his foundation and started to continue to experience strange things happening to her. Months ago a car was following her which caused her to have an accident which broken her leg. She did not tell anyone but she kept feeling like so!done was watching her which as it turns out she had a very aggressive stalker whose actions started escalating. When she was trying to dissuade an ex boyfriend Charles she pretended Rock who was at dinner with Ally and her brother Trent and her that he was her boyfriend. This is how their relationship started and Rock, who was stationed at Quantico, fell for her fast because she was so down to earth, thoughtful and everything he did not realize he needed in a girlfriend. When they realized Allison had a stalker when he tried to kill Rock after following Allison to his apartment. This story gets intense as the stalker keeps trying to take Rock out to get at Allison. Allison was in denial until her brother, Jake and Rock made her hire a security guard when Rock could not protect her. In the meantime Jake and Charley and Ally and Trent were expecting babies in the middle of all this chaos. This was a very suspenseful and romantic story as Rock fights off the stalker who was someone that Allison actually knew when he broke into her house. It was very exciting as Allison and Rock faced off her attacker and Rock even got shot before he took him down. This incident just reinforced the love that they felt for each other. It was very romantic as these two for their happily ever after with the approval of the whole Sherbrooke family. I highly recommend this book as we follow the Sherbrookes family expand with their little ones and more of the siblings find love.

Eh....this book was just okay for me. I think it's worth noting though that I haven't read any of the other books in this series and while it can be read as a stand alone I think I would have enjoyed the book more had I read the others. It was a little confusing especially in the beginning to keep track of who everyone was because there are A LOT of players in this book. Most of them though seem to be returning characters from other books.

I thought the plot was well written; the "bad guy" was a big surprise at least to me. I was convinced that the person who was behind everything was one person, so boy was I surprised when it turned out to be someone else!

Overall not bad....it just didn't grab me and hold my interest as some other books do.

Strange things start happening from the moment Allison Sherbrooke moved to help her cousin Jake at his foundation. Marine Captain Rocco Raimono, aka Rock meets up with his sister and her husband, and Allison not knowing his life is about to change. Ally liked Rock the time she danced with him, so she asked him to play along to deter her ex, suddenly things spiral out of control. As Ally tries to deal with a possible stalker, Rock can't stay away. As danger closes in on Ally and Rock, Ally is in denial while Rock is on alert, both fall hard Rock and Ally story is full of danger, suspense, mystery, action, love and great characters. This story will keep you on the edge of your seat and beg for more.

I loved this story about Allison and Rock.
Allison seems to be having a bad streak - feeling like she is being watched, flat tire and the accident.
Rock is a marine and a brother to Trent's wife. Rock and Allison meet at a dinner with relatives. They start seeing one another and he feels something is not right with her. He also is feeling watched.
Eventually everything hits the fan and the stalker gets into it with both Rock and Allison.
I really enjoyed this book. I like that they are mostly standalones. I really am enjoying the Sherbrooke Series.

A quick start to a relationship followed by some suspense

This was the first book I’ve read from this series so all the names and relationships were a little confusing but didn’t hinder the storyline. I relative of the President starts a relationship with a Marine about the same time she realizes she has a stalker. The book is a quick read and kept my attention. However, the MMC was written to use the word ya for you for no apparent reason. I don’t understand why…and it super annoying.

I liked this story and even though everything says that is can be read as a standalone, I believe I would have enjoyed it more if I had read the other books before Protecting the Billionaire. This was a romantic suspense with a really good plot that kept you interested and reading more. Once I got to around the 60% mark, it got really interesting and I found myself not being able to put it down and I was finished before I knew it. I will be going back and reading the other books in this series.

Good suspense, an OK read

The suspense angle was well done, though the stalker’s ability to get police information was skirted around without really being explained.

I had problems trying to keep track of all the various brothers and cousins. By the end of the book I still couldn’t remember who was who.

An okay read, but not gripping enough to make my mental favourite author list.

Loved!!

This story was great. Had suspense, great story line. Loved the secondary characters from the other books. Builds a really solid life woven story. The relationship between Allison and Rock was great. Very compatible and laid back. They complimented watch other well. They have a nice second meet-cute. When they pretend he is her boyfriend towards an old persistent flame of Ally’s. Then they start going out before it becomes parent she has a stalker.

Always great to reunite with the Sherbrooke clan. It has been awhile since I read 1-6 in a row but caught on and up very quickly.
I liked this book. Not really sure why I didn't love it. I enjoyed reading it and am preparing to jump right into the next book in the series. Let's just say I'm running slow from the holidays. Better to blame it on me than the author!!

Wow what a read Alison and Rocco wow!!!!! Explosive heat between them. Alison isn’t what I thought she’d bee actually I thought along the lines of Rock but was pleasantly surprised by her and who knew rock could speak I could just hear his voice the way Alison describes it. Can’t wait to read the next book it’s getting better.

Rock is awesome!! She picked a good man with him. I don't quite understand why she would deny everything that's true and she's actually seeing about being followed and the weird gift etc. I think she doesn't want 2 cause more trouble 4 her family but that's not rt at all. They would protect her and b worried but I think she thinks they would go overboard like they usually do on sum things.

Watched

Allison had jumped at the opportunity to work for her cousin's charity in D.C. Growing up in Rhode Island has been great, with her folks, brothers, and cousins around all the time, but she felt she needed to be on her own.
A great plot with strong characters and lots of family love, the suspense is just a great added bonus!

4 ⭐ read!

This was actually way more interesting than I anticipated!
I am not a huge fan of romantic suspense as a genre usually, but this one was well done and held my attention with the plot twists and relationship development. I loved the Sister-in-Law's Brother trope!
Also a great military vet rep!

Okay

Started out so well. Thought Alison would have been a bit more savvy given her relationship with the president and rich relatives, however the author chose to portray her as an idiot who refused to acknowledge her stalker issues. Rock was okay but really Alison let it down.

Very good. This book kept me on my toes. Though the chapter lengths varied from maybe a page to over 20 the story had a nice flow. I would have liked more on the stalker's point of view but otherwise, this was a great read.

Well that was boring and predictable.
She is a rich nobody and he is this hero soldier.
She is only somebody because her family is.
Has a job because her family owns the company.
He is this hero soldier who rescues her.
