A short story set after the end of book three - Changing Nature - and before Waging War. Click on the following link to read: https://aprilwhitebooks.com/the-gift
this was a cute short story about a Christmas gift that was left behind and forgot about in a closet from many many years ago. it gave insight into the characters and their back stories. I loved it!
Not kindle unlimited, can be bit pricey {I read a LOT} but did find the 3 book set {#1-3} on sale for 99 cents.
This story takes place between Changing Nature and Waging War
Marking Time (Immortal Descendants, #1) Tempting Fate (The Immortal Descendants #2) Changing Nature (The Immortal Descendants #3) The Immortal Descendants: Books 1-3 The Gift (Immortal Descendants, #3.5) Waging War (The Immortal Descendants #4) Cheating Death (The Immortal Descendants, #5)
Note: I found The Gift online at writer's site {webpage} This story takes place between Changing Nature and Waging War, the link is on that book page on goodreads.
This was a short story included at the end of Changing Nature, book 3 in the Immortal Descendants series. It's a cute little tale of Saira and Claire doing some mother/daughter bonding over some forgotten unopened gifts.
I am re-reading all the Immortal Descents books, and I stumbled across this short story. It was fun to have a little glimpse of a day in the life of Saira Elian. What a bright spot on a cold winters night.
The Gift isn't really a book, but a short story taking place between volumes 3 and 4 of the Immortal Descendants series. It's a sweet story, just the right thing to read after the emotionally draining (though amazing) volume 3.
A nice compliment to the series - just a peek into Saira's settling with her 'family' and her new way of life. I love this series and its intriguing characters.
I love this series of books. I think I am on my Fifth or sixth reread - so they obviously keep my interest.
It is quite hard to fit them into a particular genre - there are elements of YA, paranormal, Urban Fantasy...while there is romance it is gentle enough for younger readers. On those occasions when someone asks for recommendations for younger readers just starting out on their reading adventures, I wholeheartedly recommend this series. Having said that, I’m 50 something and still enjoy them!
Sometimes with series, there isn’t enough story to support the whole series. It is definitely not the case here. I think you could read the first as a stand-alone, maybe the first three....but why would you?
The first book, as I said, could work as a stand-alone. The story is strong, the characters well written, and supporting characters do just that. With the second and following books, the story spirals out (read the series and see what I did there. Ms White is very, very clever!) and supporting characters develop their own stories, the time and world building encompassed grows bigger and more complex.
Though it is a short story, it is full of a wonderful sentiment from our protagonist: belonging. It is worth the time it takes to read it, and it is part of a wonderful series!
