Alpha and Omega #3

The Artist And His Alpha

Rate this book
Alpha and Omega Series book 3 – standalone.

Caden Wolfe lives his life hiding from the world. As an Omega with a brute of an Alpha looking for him, he can’t afford to take any chances. He is happy enough with his art, his one good friend Felix and his agent who adores his paintings. It’s a far cry from life on the streets and Caden is determined to keep working hard, and stay out of the spotlight. Staying away from all things wolf is easy enough in the city, until he meets the one man with the potential to blow his cover and his way of life, out of the water.

Sean Black has it all – a brother for pack, a home pack that is still supportive but far enough away not to interfere with his daily life, a good business, and men who clamor for his attention every night of the week. The last thing he wants or needs is a mate, but after a brief meeting with a gorgeous artist, he realizes his life will change, and not necessarily in a good way.

A misunderstanding leads to danger for Caden and Sean has to make a choice. Can he give his Omega what he needs, or should he make sure he’s protected and then walk away? A rogue Alpha with an agenda of his own, a trap, and trouble from the council are just a few of the things this couple will have to contend with if they are ever to have their HEA.

Warning: This book is an M/M paranormal romance. It includes sexual scenes between two men. It also includes an Omega who will tug at your heart, an Alpha who deserves a smack around the ears at times, and a love story that takes just a little while to unfold. This is based on the true mate trope, so if that is not your cup of tea, then please don’t buy any of my books.

The Alpha and Omega series are all standalone books, with no relation to each other at all, unlike my books in other series.

This was another excellent shifter book by Lisa Oliver!! This is was one of my favorites authors that writes shifter series, you can't go wrong with her books!!! It's not even necessary to read this series order because the characters in each book in this series don't interact with each other.

This is how I like my shifters done! I am a total sucker for the fated mate trope and this ticked all of my boxes for me.

Let me attempt a short review.

Sean and Caden meet at Caden’s art show. Instantly they recognize that they are both shifters (OMG how adorable was the hand sniffing?!) and fated mates though the men react different to this. You see, Caden is a lone Omega on the run who we learn has grown up being taught that being an Omega is to know a life of abuse and being used and thrown away as a sex slave. Yet, Sean has been taught that Omega’s are meant to be cherished and protected so the dynamic between these two and their relationship is a tough one to navigate at first. Caden thinks all Alpha Sean wants to do is to get in his pants and all Sean really wants to do is snuggle and make pancakes.

Gah.

These two were so adorable and I love how quickly they become coupley and domestic but of course bliss has its bumps and these two hit them a few times.

I liked that when Caden opens up about his past, Sean reaches out to not only his brother but his father and we learn the way Sean was raised. The story take a few twists and turns from there all in order to protect Caden which of course gets a bit angsty but super swoony! It was a crazy time for the two men but when it all comes down to it, it works even though I kinda wanted to smack Sean and his do-over business. Goodness dude.

The pack politics were great in this story, just enough that we get to know how they are run and their rules but not over powering that the romance gets lost in it. Simply the perfect balance between the two and OMG why didn’t someone tell me about self lubricating Omega’s and how HOT that is. *growls*

So, new to me author Lisa Oliver totally has a new fan girl. I am lusting after the way she does her shifters and I am head over heels for Caden and Sean. I cannot wait to read more from her!

I read this as a stand alone. I did not read the previous two books. As a stand alone it was nice, but nothing special. All of Lisa's usual ingredients are there (fated mates, no cheating, HEA), but I found Sean lacking. First he resists the mating bond (he's god's gift to men everywhere, why only fuck one from now on?). He gives the wrong impression and therefore hurts Caden. Then he does want the bond, but the bond does not equal love. Again Sean hurts Caden. After everything Caden went through with his former pack he deserved a more understanding mate. Instead he got an asshole. An asshole who leaves him in danger. ALONE!!!! He is nowhere in sight the moment the ex-Alpha shows up. Sure he redeemed himself in the end, but basically Caden can do fine on his own. He doesn't need Sean. So I did not get my usual happiness from reading a Lisa Oliver book. This one just didn't do it for me. The main couple just seem off/not matching.

While I liked Caden and Sean ok, a lot of this book just felt repetitive from the prior ones in the series.

Sean is, once again, an alpha who has spent years sleeping around and avoiding commitment. He also refuses to believe that alphas can be loving even though he grew up with in a loving environment (we only find out at the end of the book why, and it felt forced, with no foreshadowing, or hint about it prior to that point). Finally, while Sean wasn't as much of a general jerk as some of the previous books' alphas have been, he was rather consistently more cruel in his dismissal of Caden.

A nice addition to the Alpha & Omega series. Sean and Caden made a lovely couple, and it was good to see an Omega that could take care of himself without the constant protection of his Alpha.

The Artist and His alpha is my favorite of this series (so far) for many reasons. The characters grabbed me from the beginning. The Alpha was cocky and the Omega was scared. But, the Omega could also take care fo himself.

There were times I wanted to reach into the book and throttle the Alpha when he said/did the wrong thing yet again.

Normally I wouldn’t put a quote in for fear of giving spoilers, but this time I’m going to make an exception. This is my favorite part of the book, it never fails to make me laugh.

If you want to know what happens you’ll just have to buy this great book and find out for yourselves 😉 The only thing I will say is I wouldn’t want to be in that Omega’s bad books.

As always a highly recommended read from a great author. 5*

Gay paranormal romance

Caden is an omega wolf who escaped his abusive home pack and had been living in the streets of L.A. when he met Felix, a human who helped him develop his natural artistic talent. At a gallery show two alpha wolf brothers Liam and Sean meet Felix and Caden and recognize they have met their fated mates. Felix is oblivious but Caden runs home in fear of the wolves. He is terrified of being tortured and killed by the strange wolves. Needless to say courting Felix who knows nothing about shifters and distrustful Caden is quite an undertaking. Sean has been a real player and has always been the recipient of easy sex so he is a self centered and doesn't do well winning over Caden and understanding why Caden is so afraid of his former alpha finding him. We have angst, real danger and a lot of groveling on the way to our HEA. A really well written story with love, compassion and excitement. Highly recommended.

I enoy this author but ive found some her books are just filler. Like she puts them out to put something out. She can write a great series then u get series like this. Just hollow. Absolutely no substance. No connection between MC's They are literally broken up, not talking or look. The Alpha kissed the Omega. Now the Omega is cock drunk n forgives Absolutely everything. 2 seconds ago Omega was taking on the world independent, hated the Alpha.. or sooking. Half these books I didn't want the mates to be together. U know its crap when ur not even hoping the MC's end up together.

Caden is absolutely adorable and deserves all the love in the world. It was heart breaking when his wolf was howling out all his pain.
I'm not so fond of Sean and even if he redeemed himself somewhat in the end and really loves Caden he was quite clueless and hurting his Omega.
But I do love this shifter world and am off to read the next book.

Enjoyable

Really enjoyed this book. Caden and Sean had a rough start and continued to have issues with miscommunication and lack of communication. But they were able to make it work.

Fear

Caden had lived in fear all his life. He ran from his pack. He lived on the street and was rescued by someone that became is best friend. Sean and his brother Liam met their mates at the same time- Felix and Caden. Fantastic story

I always leave this series having enjoyed, but not loved the story. The instalove always feels a little rushed. This was hard too as Caden has so much trauma in his past from his previous alpha. He's essentially been in a cult and barely escaped. He's carved out a place for himself, but his world is small. He's devoted to his art and little else, he's protected his privacy. Meeting Sean risks everything. He's not sure he can trust any alpha, let alone one who wants to claim him as his mate.

I liked Caden a lot. He's worked hard to find his little space but his world view is narrow. There's a lot of the world that he hasn't experienced though. His experience within the werewolf packs is in direct opposition to what Sean is telling him. It's hard for him to trust even though his instincts urge him to trust Sean.

More story than just the mate or die trope, and a bad guy who has a little more substance than being an entitled ass.

Nice build up

This was a mice story. I like the characters and the fact that the Omega Caden has real grit. Sean is certainly paying for his old “fuck ‘em and leave ‘em” ways. But I think it does him good to have to fight for monogamy. Anyway, I also appreciate that this book has fewer spelling and grammar mistakes than another certain author I love.

I have really enjoyed the series so far. I liked the fated mate aspect of it to. Caden is a stronger Omega than he thinks. The mating thing isn't strong enough for Sean the Alpha. He is also an ass to Caden. Instead of words for his mate he always wants sex to answer all of Caden's fears. This couple just didn't seem to mesh.

This book is definitely a 5 star book. I just recently got into reading shifter books and with each one I love them even more. This has got to be my favorite to date.

Sean is what one would an Alpha wolf. He and his brother Liam own a club in LA and both are Alphas. Sean has made his mind up a long time ago that he did not need to be tied down to anyone when he can have someone new when he wants. That is until Caden comes along and Sean realizes right away he had met his fated mate. Then everything changes.

I know that Alphas are supposed to be the strong ones and they are but I have to say that I believe that Omegas are stronger. Or at least in this book anyway. Caden is an omega but he has no pack and is a lone wolf. Under normal circumstances omegas cannot survive on their own without a pack and Caden does. Not only does he, he is thriving on his own as far as having his own home, having a career that he is great at, and relying on himself to stay safe.

Caden is such a strong individual whether or not he is an omega. He has survived being abused and mistreated since the moment he was born because some dimwit convinced others that he was weak and useless for being an omega. But in my opinion the opposite is true. Caden took what was thrown at him with grace and never let it end him. He could of given up but it was not in his nature. He might have been scared of what the future would hold but he still did not let it stop him from becoming self sufficient. That takes guts in my opinion and makes him a very strong person and omega.

Sean is definitely a strong alpha but I believe that he has some misconceptions on what a real relationship should be. He makes a butt of myself several times but he has the smarts, heart, and love to realize when he has made a mistake and he either fixes it himself or he gets the advice from his friends and family that leads him in the direction that helps him. He is definitely a stubborn individual but he is smart enough to realize what he is about to lose, even if it does take him some time to get there.

I enjoyed this read so much and could not wait to see what was going to happen next. It is definitely a love story but it is also an action adventure with the warnings of abuse, talk of rape, and mistreatment of children, women, and men.

Cannot wait to read more by Lisa Oliver.

I’ve recently found Lisa Oliver and since then I have come to the conclusion you can never go wrong reading one on of her books. From chapter one, you are pulled into the world of mystery, fun, alphas and heartbreaks. Sean and Caden are right there too.

I never found myself bored with this story, and I was disappointed when it finished, only because I wanted to keep reading about these two sexy men and their supporting friends and family. Ms. Oliver does a fantastic job with setting the scene of getting to know each character, their first interactions, their conflicts, and then the resolution. She doesn’t leave you hanging.

Hot-to-trot Sean is an alpha who is enjoying is freedom and lifestyle of not being attached to anyone. So when he meets Caden, he is so confused and at first fights it, but not in an over-the-top drama kind of why, more of reorganizing his heart, life and conscious to accept what love truly is and his fated mate.

Sweet and shy Caden just grabs your heart strings from the beginning and is terrified upon meeting his fated mate. As he learns how a true Omega should be treated, which is polar-opposite of what he has learned growing up, his own heart breaks the steel bars and wants to shine with love that has been hidden for so long.

The supporting cast of Liam, Felix and Ian were amazing and definitely helped with the character building and support of this wonderful story.

The only problem is that Liam and Felix were such a strong support and I fell in love with them so hard that I was left abrupt with this story knowing it was a stand alone and knowing I may not ever get to read about those two delicious men. I honestly feel a little robbed of it. Overall though, I did enjoy this story. It really had that combination of sweet, action, and alpha all in one.

The Artist And His Alpha (Alpha and Omega series Book 3) by Lisa Oliver
4 stars
M/M Shifter
Triggers: Abuse, cult type behaviors
I was given this book for an honest review by Inked Rainbow Reads.

This author is great! She gives twists and turns, but also allows for a resolution too.

This story has some fantastic elements, but I thought that it was also lacking in some ways too.

Caden is a strong, silent artist. I really enjoyed his character. Despite that he was not the "typical" omega, he has been successful in creating works of art that people flock to. He is running from his past, surviving without living. His really good friend, Felix is a hoot. I really enjoyed how he was able to bring Caden out of himself - but didn't push Caden to do more than he was capable.

Then you introduce Sean. He was pushy, grouchy and mysterious all wrapped in to a yummy shifter. Immediately, he's intrigued by Caden, but because he has lived a very different lifestyle, mainly getting anyone he wants, he is at a loss as to how to approach Caden. Their first encounter is confusing and neither character really knows how to react to each other.

Once you are through the immediate issues that both Sean and Caden find, Oliver was able to draw emotions out of the reader through feelings, emotions, relationships and the story just begins to bloom.

Despite some miscommunications and a lot of flubs by Sean, he finally understands what love can be and wants to have it with Caden.

I liked the conflict in this story but felt that it was unfinished - we were kind of left hanging. Maybe it will be resolved in the next story? I can only hope!

It's been a while since I've read a shifter book, and this was a great one to get me back into it. It can definitely be read as a standalone-I haven't read anything else in the series and it was just fine on it's own. I'm always keen to read about the alpha/omega dynamic and The Artist and His Alpha does a really good job at showing the extremes in this story.

I absolutely loved Caden's character. He was so brave to strike out on his own, escaping a horrible alpha and what really was a poisonous pack. He exudes strength and independence, and is willing to fight for what he's rightfully earned on his own. Sean was a bit harder for me to like, at least until the last quarter or so of the story. He kind of came off as a little aloof and like he just expected things since he never really had to work for any guy's attention before...though he is still irresistibly drawn to Caden. Sean just didn't seem like he was working as hard toward their relationship as he should be.

The story is paced well, and it kept my interest all the way through. The cast of supporting characters was strong, and I'm actually hoping we'll get to see a story for Sean's brother Liam with Felix. Sean and Liam's father, Ian, is a really great character, very compassionate and understanding and he is so supportive not only of his sons but of Caden as well.

Fans of M/M shifter romance will enjoy The Artist and His Alpha, and I do recommend it to those 18+ for adult language and M/M sexual content. This was a 3.5-star read for me, and I'm looking forward to reading more by this author in the future.

Caden Wolfe, an omega, lives his life hidden from the world. He escaped from a cruel alpha and must remain in hiding if he is to live. He has his art and one friend, Felix, as well as an agent who loves his work and keeps it selling. He makes very few public appearances and allows no interviews or photographs. He hopes this will keep him from being discovered. Sean Black is quite different. He lives his life in the spotlight. He has his own club, a brother who works with him, and a pack that still supports him even though they live some distance. Everything changes when he meets the beautiful artist. He knows Caden is his mate, but does not want to push him.

Caden was an incredibly talented artist who wanted to be left alone. He will quickly work his way into your heart. Sean winds up endangering him when he comes to his club. He wants Caden as his mate but he manages to really mess up his mating. Sean had good intentions but really needed a good boot in the rear end to get him to fix things. This turned out to be a rat story with an excellent plot. The danger to Caden was real and came in many different forms. The suspense will keep you reading to find out what happens next.

My favorite of the series. Caden is a compelling character. There are good reasons that he does not make personal appearances or give interviews. Very real and brutal reasons. Sean doesn't want a mate, but Fate has other ideas. Sean was not the nicest of beings.

He wasn't sure he wanted a mate. Something like that could seriously change his life. Sean was under no illusions about himself. He looked like a Greek God and he acted like an asshole.

...after the life Caden had clearly had, the man deserved to b3 positively adored. Sean wasn't sure he had an adoration gene. In fact, he was fairly sure that side of him was non-existent, He was used to being adored, not lavishing the same emotion on someone else.

When Caden needed Sean, Sean was there until Sean retreated and left Caden in danger.

Good story that kept me reading.

This book was pretty amazing but then I've read books by this author before and have never been disappointed. First this can clearly be read as a standalone. I have always found books by Lisa Oliver to keep me entertained and this one was very entertaining and an enjoyable read. Ms. Oliver has a writing style that makes it a very easy read. I found the characters to be interesting, but not complex. I fell for Caden almost immediately and Sean was not far behind, even though Sean was clearly clueless throughout the book. I absolutely adored the secondary characters especially Liam and Felix. This was a great story from start to finish and would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys paranormal romances.

I loved this book. I expected I would because I have not read a Lisa Oliver that I have not love. This series are different from her other series in that each book is really a stand alone book. It has no cross over between each one. I am perfectly fine with that but also enjoy the ones that have the same core group with some new character being introduced into the story line. I finished this book in one day because once I started it I could not stop until I was finished. Totally worth it.

I found this to be another entertaining and pleasant alpha/omega shifter story by an author who usually includes a decent balance of heat, interesting paranormal elements, and fluff. This standalone series features a more isolated alpha/omega relationship dynamic than other works that focus more on pack politics (although there are a bit more paranormal danger here than in other works in this series).

I'm not sure what changed between books 1 and 2 and now this one, but it was like reading a completely different author!
Gone were the spelling and grammatical mistakes, the characters were beautifully crafted and my heart was invested right from the start. THIS is what I was hoping for from the series!
Whatever you did differently, keep doing it. Well done Lisa Oliver!
