Erudite and usefully structured, but its ridiculously ambitious scope and terse textbook writing style raises more questions - of the factual, analytical and ideological sort - than it answers. Which I suppose is part of its underlying value, but not when one is looking for detailed answers on more specific historical topics...especially with a maturing wikipedia at hand.
