“Never underestimate the power of a woman who wants something badly enough.” — Library Journal
When Jacqueline Tate meets Randall Atwater, he’s everything she’s read about—brainy, witty, handsome, and cool. And after a week spent with the most fascinating man she’s ever known, there’s no way she can give him up. There’s just one Randall’s wife of twenty years. No matter—men like Randall are few and far between. Jacqueline knows that with a few bold moves, she can win him over. But will this turn out to be a battle worth fighting?
“Nobody can write drama like Lutishia Lovely.” —APOOO BookClub
“Lovely gives readers insights into the hearts and minds of all the players – it seems even beautiful, brilliant folk can be obsessive .” —RT Book Reviews, 4 Stars on The Perfect Affair
Good storyline as Jackie was so unstable, she caused plenty of grief for Randall and his family. She is one dangerous female. I'm ready to read what other type of chaos she causes in the next installment. Good read
This book reminders me of a Lifetime Movie....This was a 9 1/2 audiobook that took you through all kind of plot twist and turns....for me, once I was able to figure out one piece of this very bazaar puzzle, the reminder of the story just fell into place for me.... There were aspects of this story that really made no sense to me....like why Aaron didn't call the police instead of having his friend call the police (without giving too much of the story away). Also why Elaine and Albany just sat around during certain scenes....instead of allowing 10 year old Aaron spring into action. Poor Dr. Randall was just a sitting duck throughout the entire story. Shari Peele did a decent job with narration; although, her male characters sound kind of funny to me.
I love Lutishia Lovely's previous books, this one here, I'm on the fence with my rating.
From all appearances, it looks like Jacquelin Tate has it together. She is a bomb shell beauty with a dream job as a free lance writer for Science Today. She has just accepted a six month position that will afford her to travel to different science conferences. On her first adventure, she comes in contact with Dr. Randall Atwater. Instantly, Jacquelin is smitten with the good doctor. She has dreams of them being together, but Randall is married.
Jacquelin is not deterred by Randall's marital status, because what Jacquelin wants, Jacquelin gets. Not so fast says Randall's wife Sherri. After being together for a decade and more, Sherri isn't letting her husband go without a fight. Let the games begin.
Sounds good right? Well, almost. It took entirely too long for the book to gain steam. The first half of the book was all about Jacquelin and Randall's interactions at several different science conferences. Yawn. Shortly thereafter, the book started to get a little interesting. It wasn't until I was 84% in the book that the fog lifted and I was anticipating what would happen next.
I'm not sure about this series. With the next book, hopefully the "fluff", tedious, non-important details will be omitted. This book could have been 100 pages lighter! The ending is why I gave this book 3 stars, but in reality it is more like 2.5.
That Jacqueline Tate was a conniving wench with tendencies bordering on cray-cray about her non- relationship with Dr. Randall Atwall, a scientist. Being a freelance reporters she tracked down info on his family and friends to make a list of who she would poison, shoot or kill to get Randall to love her. Jacqueline actually thought she could replace his wife Sherri and children, Albany & Aaron. This was a good book that I would recommend others to read.
Jacqueline Tate is a young thirty something freelance writer who is beautiful beyond measure and extremely intelligent she had planned to go to a science conference, cover a story on stem cell research and not think of doing any extracurricular activities that included men – or did she? Her plan quickly develops into something that is so outrageous, only a psycho would believe it. She may be every man’s dream but Dr. Atwater may find that she may also be a man’s worst nightmare – especially if he and his family get in her way.
Lutishia Lovely is a veteran in the writing game. This story is something different for her as she steps outside of her proverbial box and crafts a storyline that is sure to intrigue. The flow of the story was very smooth and the pace was lightening fast. The length of the chapters didn’t frustrate but expedited the read. The characters were well developed and easy to invest in.
There is a plot twist that will possibly have you scratching your head and it was not predictable. With that being said, there are a few questions that seemed to be unanswered which could be due to a few things, hopefully not hiccups in the plot development. There is a second installment and maybe some things that were left hanging could be answered. Hopefully the answers were not tied into the information that is revealed in the closing. In any regard, this book will have readers flipping pages and talking to themselves trying to unravel the web that Lovely surely wove in this one.
This story was a dance with psychosis. It was the perfect affair, until it wasn't. The author gave us interesting characters, a structured storyline, great narration and a glimpse into what a "perfect" affair looks like.
Lutishia Lovely is known for her Amen moments in her Hallelujah Series and her delicious drama in the Soul Food Series, BUT in this first book in her newest Shady Sisters Trilogy, The Lovely one has a new voice to add to her growing arsenal of characters!
Jacqueline Tate is beautiful, brilliant, bold and a predator Randall Atwater is a brilliant Dr., husband and father.
These two meet on the way to a conference, they are both attending and the games begin. For this Shady Sister, it's lust at first site. She sets her sites on the sexy Dr. He's enjoying the view and attention but has no idea he has become her fantasy and obsession, and the lengths she'll go through to get what she wants,.
Problem is he's married and she doesn't care, neither does her partners in crime, so she thinks....
I LOVED this book and looking forward to the next book in the series, The Perfect Deception due out at the end of the year. But right now if you want a GREAT read, order Perfect Affair right now, you won't be disappointed 5 Stars for this Shady Sister!
OMG this was a wonderful book. I love this story, all the characters and was intrigued from the first page until the last. Somehow I knew Randall was innocent or at least I wanted to believe in him. Jacqueline was something else and I loved hating her character. This was such a great read I cannot wait to read part two and three.

My thoughts: Page 13 of 323/341 Ch. 3 - It's okay. I'm putting it off; it's not exciting yet. I don't know what genre this is supposed to be, maybe some sort of erotic thriller. 📖 225 Ch. 37 - This book is playing with my head. I don't even know what's going on anymore. I'm going to order the other books right now.
I was not expecting this story to be this good. I'm going to be finishing this series.
Recommend to others?: Yes. If you like dramatic romantic thrillers, this one is good.
This book was great! I dont want to say too much about it for fear of giving it all away, but, you should read this! Finished this book in a few hours! This is my first Lutisha Lovely book. It will not be my last!

The Perfect Affair is the first book in The Shady Sisters Trilogy and it is starting off with a BANG! It gives you drama, romance, suspense, everything that you need in a series titled Shady Sisters! I absolutely love the characters that Lovely has in her novels and this new series is NOT going to disappoint. I can't wait for it to be released nationwide for everyone to enjoy it as much as I have. The Perfect Affair releases nationwide June 2014 so pre-order it now on Amazon.com or BN.com.
A Perfect Affair by Lutishia was a very enticing and engaging read. I wanted to climb into that book and hurt somebody a few times and shake to mess out of a couple other times. A Perfect Affair is a provocative tale that centers around an award-winning biologist, Randall Atwater and a freelance writer, Jacqueline Tate. They meet at a scientific conference on trends and technology in which she's there to do a feature story on him for Science Today. She is immediately drawn to this handsome, brainy, attentive, and reserved man. During this week long conference, she becomes determined to make him hers.
Jacqueline sets out to woo and get the man she's fancied herself in love with and will pull out all stops to do so. This she does despite him having a wife, Sherri and two children at home. As we experience this tale of love, determination and other elements, we are caught up in an emotional spiral of manipulation, lies, trickery and deception. All to what cost? Ms. Lovely spun a tale that entraps us in a web that keeps us right there awaiting the next turn, act, deed and reaction.
I liked this novel, so I will continue with the series. It was refreshing to see the usual and obvious not to be so usually so obvious. For a minute the author had me like "what?" -This was almost the perfect affair, I only say perfect because there is no such thing as 'perfect', but this drop-dead, just muda-freakin' too damn gorgeous, Jacqueline Tate was a woman of perfection and Dr. Randall Atwater was the perfect naïve adulterer would bless her with that perfection if it wasn't for that annoying wife, Sherry Atwater. The bitch.
This novel will have you turning pages, or listening for hours to find out what's to come next. Author Lutishia Lovely is a wonderful romance storywriter who also likes my kind of drama. This author had me calling a couple of these characters 'Fools!' -And I'm still thinking one might be an idiot.
The novel primarily focus on topics like trust, infidelity and mental illness. It's a good read and will show some people with these issues in a different light.
When Jacqueline and Randall meet at a taxi stand and share a cab to the hotel where they are both attending a science symposium, Jacqueline becomes obsessed. She starts believing that there is something between her and Dr. Randall Atwater. When he tells her he is married, she becomes hell bent on getting his wife Sherri out of the way. She becomes conniving and delusional, and murderous as well. She will let nothing stand in the way of her getting the man she loves and believes loves her. Not his children Albany and Aaron, or her mother. She is ruthless in her pursuit. This read was definitely a roller coaster ride. Read: May 2015
I really enjoyed this book. It was not at all a typical book about an affair gone wrong. Jacqueline was defintely crazy. a lot of the things that happen I did not see coming. I look forward to reading this series
I really enjoyed the storyline and characters but it fell a bit short on some details about Jacqueline's past. I wish there would of been more on her friend "Kris"
As the book neared the end it felt a bit rushed. I am looking forward to reading more from this author.
I really wanted to give this book at least 4 stars. I am not a prude, but it seemed that 85% of this book was describing elicit sexual encounters one after the other. It got to the point that I would fast forward through yet another session. I somehow stumbled on this book. Excuse me if it is labeled erotica and I didn’t notice
Aside from all of the sexual encounters the entirety of the book, it took forever to get to the good part. I absolutely loved the plot, the characters and how the suspense unfolded at the end. Left me shaking my head as to how crazy Jacqueline really was.
As I said, it was truly gripping and a page turner aside from all of the sex strewn across the pages. I am not sure if I will read anything else by the author if all of her books are filled with sex scenes.
This book was awesome. It elites many emotions about relationships and right and wrong. It is twisted a punch I did not see coming. What can stand against love and the family, they give you strength in the most adverse and trying situations. It was so believable that you had to ask what reality you were in. I guess it's in the mind of the beholder! Can not wait for book two.
This book was actually really good. It just got better and better after each chapter. I was so intrigued about a quarter of the way through that I had to keep going and find out what would happen. A complete mind bender.
I didn't expect the plot to make the sudden turns that it did. This is a must read. Kudos to the author.
This book was totally not predictable, although you may think that it will be on the first pages in. I implore you to keep reading.
Crazy is an understatement. This book proves that mental illness is no joke! There were times when I had to stop listening to this book to get my head together. Jacquelyn was something else! Trying to ruin peoples lives for her own selfishness. It makes no sense for someone to get away with all that she did. Some of the actions didn’t make any sense whatsoever. Since this is a three book series I wonder what stupid plan she’ll come up with next.
The wife in this book is the poster child for Divorce 101. I rooted for the husband to leave her. There's no partnership, this no marriage. Women are transactional, if everything goes their way, all is great - of that stops then the whole world is against them. What man in his right mind would sign up for more years of this nonsense? The author just doubles and triples down on stupid. JUST GET A DIVORCE! What's on the other side of THIS?
Wow, this one went off the rails. It was entertaining, I'll give it that, but wow did it make a sharp turn with no warning to buckle up. That took me out of the story and I couldn't get completely back in.
Not sure if I'll keep up with the story, but it's not completely off the table either.
Love this author anyway! Giving us the right doses of this woman's issues at the right time. I'm glad Randall's tenacity, and love for his family was greater than Jacqueline's desire to destroy them. Can't wait to dive into the next book!
This book is not what it seems. When I thought I had it figured out....turns out I didn't even have a clue. The first book I have read of hers and she just gain another fan..check it out for yourself.
First book I've read by this author. This was a good book if you want to read about a psycho woman by the name of Jacqueline Tate. This woman was absolutely crazy as a bat thinking she was going to take another woman's man.
