The Riverman

Rate this book
Captain Rhodius , a veteran river captain of the Fire Plume, has been plying Guyana’s rivers for over 40 years, and this trip promises to be no different. Traveling with him is his most trusted companion, Lindo, and a crew of seasoned rivermen. Together, they make their way upstream, stopping at various ports along the way. But, while this journey seems no different to Rhodius, Rhodius’ sister and friends along the way keep warning him to be careful. That something is about to happen. Rhodius laughs off the warnings. Even the strange appearance of the bushmaster snake on his boat doesn’t faze him. One morning, the unusual does happen. Taking care of a stuck anchor, Rhodius disappears below the water’s surface and doesn't return. He discovers a world he had never imagined existed. It is a story of mystery and magic steeped in the blend of African and Amerindian traditions.
