Oh, how I loathed this book. Why? I've been asking myself this each time I turned my Kindle on to try and sludge through finishing this pathetic tale.
If you like stories with heroines that are "TSTL" (Too Stupid To Live) then you will find a winner in this story. May, the heroine is definitely this year's valedictorian of the Bella Swan "TSTL" Heroine Academy.
This is the third of recent BBW books I've read where the BBW heroine is written so poorly. Her character is just crap.
Here are my issues with story:
Why did Jude love May so much? There was no full explanation as to why he is obsessed with May. Did he spend enough time with her to have a full conversation, with normal back and forth? If he did, then he'd understand she's not worth it.
Why is Tim, the brother of May still alive? He's dreadful. I've never hated a character so quickly as I did that pathetic excuse of a man. And he is not even a villain.
Even Ashley, May's best friend and fellow TSTL graduate (Don't worry Ashley's on the Honor Roll) is written poorly. For someone who is supposed to have had a hard life and always to have her wits about her, her wits switch has not been switched to ON as of yet.
And there are two decent men, Jude and Quinton that actually like these vapid broads. I just...sigh...can't. I had to skim to the ending after 63% of the book or I would have dome something drastic like break my Kindle.
I'm tired of poorly written BBW characters getting high marks just because you have a BBW heroine that has a handsome Hero actually paying them some sort of attention.
I recommend this book to no one. I don't hate anyone that much in this life.

DNF. Maybe it’s because this is on audio that I was turned off right from the start. The classic egotistical man, determined to have his way with the gorgeous but unwilling, somewhat innocent object of his lust. Blech. Behaves like a pig and she lets it go.

Right from the beginning Jude, the male lead, was sexually aggressive in a way that might have been fine if May, the heroine, had pushed back, or flirted in turn, or maybe even if they had been in an equal position. They weren't--a point is made that Jude's patronage of May's gallery is all that's keeping her afloat--and he knows it. Given that May's nervous, "Oh, you're just joking" clueless-on-purpose response to his overtures struck me as a God, get away from me and Jude's persistence as sexual harassment. Not good--even if we later learn that it was more from insecurity and May was attracted to him. (May, by the way, is described by Jude as "Rubenesque" and by another character as "chunky." Nice that--that she's not the usual stick figure heroine.) Then enter stupid plot to kill Jude--loan sharks will forgive the gambling debt of May's drunkard brother if he kills Jude. (What? They never heard of paid hit men?) So, what do you think, do Jude and May do something sensible like call the police when they learn of the threat? D'oh. No. So on page 130, particularly since I didn't find this book had anything going for it, I gave up.

I first read this a couple of years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it – I like Lori Foster’s easy writing style and the way she draws her characters. Since there is a sequel available (Murphy’s Law) I wanted to re-read this again to get back ‘into’ the characters.
It was as good as I remembered. May is a plump and beautiful woman lacking in confidence, especially when SBC champion turned Hollywood heartthrob Jude keeps trying to date her. Surely he’s just messing around? Sure he keeps buying the artwork she sells in her gallery, but he can’t possibly be attracted to her, right? Wrong. Jude has escaped Hollywood following a murder scandal and has been licking his wounds in Ohio. Most of the world thinks he paid for the Not Guilty verdict and he rarely leaves his home for fear of being nailed by the media – except for visits to May’s gallery. When May’s brother gets into trouble, May turns to Jude for help and their romance takes off.
A slew of secondary characters brings extra colour in the form of best-friend Ashley and Jude’s aide & trainer Denny, and the story races along. Hot sex scenes and believable emotions make this a definite 5 stars :-)

2.5 stars & I don't even know what for. this book was a major suck-fest, Jude was a complete asshole to May, who was sort of spineless? nothing really happened with Elton except everyone running in circles around each other. the whole thing dragged and dragged so that the author could write a second book about them, I assume. which turned out better than this one, but not by far. (turns out reading the second book first by accident was a good thing, since everything that matters happens in that one anyway)
I've read TONS of books that weren't worth my time but this one surpassed them all.

After reading too many morose books in a row, I was ready for something fluffy. And sexy. While this book had the appearance of meeting that criteria, the characters were too annoying and the storyline was too blah to really do anything for me. I'd hope that contemporary romances would be less about mind games and more the characters going for what they want. But it was all mind games and manipulation.

I liked this book. It mentions some of the fighters from her other books. The H & h are a lil quirky. Her best friend is hilarious. It has a small mystery to it. I didn't realize there was a part 2. Good thing cuz I was pissed at the end,lol! I will be reading Murphy's Law next as the saga continues.

Eh ... Didn't even finish it. Too goofy and contrived. I usually like Lori Foster but this one was over the top. The hero was a little too perfect and the heroine a tad too ditzy.

There's something about Lori Foster and her writing style. It's captivating. Whether you read a series straight through or out of order. The protagonists in this story May Price and Jude Jamison have a powerful visceral reaction to each other. May's art studio showings keep the pair in frequent contact, as Jude has built a huge mansion and is filling it with the artwork from May's studio.
Jude makes no secret that he wants May - sooner better than later. She's a full-figured voluptuous woman that Jude is dying for.
May rebuffs every come-on. However the dynamics change and May begins the fight isn't her life - fending off Jude when her inner feelings become manifest.
Meanwhile, there are a few of supporting characters, which flesh out the the of Jude's Law. Read it - you may end up taking up a weekend afternoon to come to the same conclusion I did. Jude's Law is both a sentimental and equally fulfilling read. Don't miss it, and also Murphy's Law.

I so hated this book that more than 3 years after reading I still remember many reasons why I found it so absolutely awful and unforgivable.
Let's start with the heroine: she's ugly, fat and insecure. The author did such a convincing job about that that I kept wondering why she had chosen her as an heroine. At no moment in this time did I feel anything like empathy or positive about her.
Then there's the hero. He's a professional boxer, he has big muscles (and another big organ). Besides that there was just nothing: no real humanity or warmth, no intellect, no special interest, just nothing.
The heroine's brother was so brainless and stupid that it was just not possible for him not to have been killed before.
And in case you still need another reason why not to open this book. There is NO ending, as the entire last chapter is an opening to the next book.
I strongly hesitated between trying to sell this god-awful book or burning it, as I cannot wish someone to read it - except maybe my real worst enemy.

I didn’t know what to listen to next, then I was scrolling on Facebook and Lori Foster herself asked who of her characters our favorite was. Jude and May were the first to pop into my head. I read this book many years ago and LOVED it so.
I hadn’t listened to it, so thought why not. Not only is it as good listening to it as it was to eye read it. But it just brought back all the feelings of why I loved it so much the first time.
May doesn’t let people or events take her down she is strong in so very many says and I love that she knows herself. Jude is infatuated and doesn’t take no for an answer and he is willing to do the work to make her see that he really does want to get to know her. I loved this about their story. They really communicate and there is very little drama which I love. There is still the element of suspense and who done it. Without all the drama mess and still it leaves you wanting more.
I love Jim’s narration, he gives such a unique voice to these characters that I can’t get enough of I am going to dive into Murphy’s Law next.

This is the first book of the Law series. Jude is a ex- SBC fighter turned successful actor. He has moved to Stillbrook, Ohio to run away from his current problems and falls head over heals for May, a art gallery owner. Jude is attracted to May and cannot get her out of his head even though she doesn't fit the typical stereotype of who he would normally date. However, May is not making it easy on him to try on his advances. Eventually the two will hook up and boy when they hook up its HOT! There is a lot of mystery in this book that centers on a situation that not only endangers Jude and May but everyone else around them.
The story also includes Ashley who will be the heroine in the next series, Murphy's Law. I cant wait!

Cute book.
I liked that although May was plus-size she was not overly down on herself about it. Was she a bit self-conscious? Yes, but it wasn't overkill, and I liked the honesty of it.
Warning, tangent coming up: I know that there's tons of reviews out there that are like, "For once I would like a self-confident plus-size heroine. One that doesn't focus on her weight." These comments make me roll my eyes. Either 1. They are written by someone who has never been morbidly overweight or 2. Are written by a person who lies to themselves about the issues and self-confidence issues that come with being a chunky chula. I've been overweight my entire life and am a very self-confident person. I don't define myself by my weight, but it doesn't mean I don't have moments of self-pitying or self-consciousness. And lets face it, as women we have a lot more of those issues then men do. So, it makes sense that stories with a BBW's POV are going to be interlaced with mentions of their weight and how they feel about it.
Anyhoot, May has a few concerns about her weight but she doesn't let people degrade her because of it, and when an infatuated Jude puts his foot in his mouth, she sets him straight. I liked how protective they were of each other and how they talked their problems out instead of stupidly having a "big misunderstanding." Jude's fascination with her is cute, and although protective of her he's not an asshole about it.
Overall, I highly recommend it.

I have loved Lori Foster's work from the first time I started her books and this one has been no exception.
I loved the book.
The plot was good and did keep you interested in the therm that it was not a mystery but in a way that you just had to now what is going to happen next.
This is a book that I wanted to read as fast as I could and at the same time, as slow as a tortoise so that I could relish the book.
I have seriously cherished every moment of this book.
The characters are totally kickass. Not only the protagonists but the secondary characters as well.
I loved May. She has strong heroine and had so many admiring capabilities with the package of being sweet as hell.
I loooooooooved Jude. The name's sexy on its own. But he was one hell of a character and his love for May was so adorable that I just about melted.
Te romance was hot and sweet and so (I have to use this word once again..) adorable.
I have always liked the way Lori Foster builds up the romance and connection between her characters. It is absolute fun.
And then she always starts her next story from the previous book..
So I cannot wait to read Murphy's Law. :)

Mary Price and Jude Jamison is a perfect match, there love between eachother was amazing, the story is filled with action, with Jude's past brought up and the people in it, the story takes place in his house a majority of the time and how they connect is wonderful, i loved Jude's personality very aggresive and protective, and Mary was just a ball of fun, i loved the typical ordinary woman, i loved that Jude saw past what Mary thought was her imperfections, with her always comparing herself to skinny starlets, but they fit wonderful and the whole storyline was very well put together and the characters grow on you,i often found myself thinking about how they are doing! especially Tim, Mary's brother and Denny, and i laughed outloud most of the time, i know a good book when im laughing and wondering what they are doing Lori Foster did a wonderful job looooooved it!

May Price is a plus sized art dealer. Jude Jamison is an MMA fighter/financial wizard/Hollywood actor/acquitted public figure who is damned near perfect. And he does love him some full figured woman.
"Wow are you sexy."

"No. You are perfect and I'll change you to prove it."
Don't like this conversation? Don't read the book. You'll have to suffer through it about 50 times. I think I might have to go back and re-read Murphy's law as Ashley is still the best character in the book.

This was meh. The h was a fool to not cut out her family and a martyr; not something I enjoy reading about. The so-called romance was also lack-lustre and Lori Foster has done the whole H hot for curvaceous h before.

This was such a great book I like the little chase she gave him he was use to getting what he wants right away but not with her.

4.5 stars.
I really enjoyed seeing the relationship develop between Jude and May through the course of the book. I loved how after over a year that Jude was still trying to woo her after all that time. He was genuinely interested in a small town girl like May but didn't believe that the Former SBC fighter/Hollywood movie star would really want some like her with all curves. Or she believed that he only wanted her because he was bored and using her for his amusement. It was very clear that she was already in love with him and feared that he would break her heart so she kept him at arms length. So he work to convince of his genuine interest. And I loved seeing him work for it, and it made all the more sweeter when they finally came together. It took a good long while. Over half way through, but created lots tension between them as well as great build up that just ticked up the anticipation. I couldn't wait to see them come together. They was so much sexual tension and chemistry between them.
The love scenes were so freaky by worth the wait. I loved them. They were hot. They were sexy. Full passion exploded on the page after all this build up not only over the coarse of the book but the year that they spent getting to know each other. It was a long time coming, but it was so good. I was so happy when they got together. And it was more than lust, it was about the next step in the relationship.
The side plot with the brother was good added an element of danger and suspense that I have come to know are synonymous with Lori Foster books. And though I wasn't on the edge of my seat like I have with other books that I had read of her in the past, it was just enough to give the story kick to it. It added depth and edge to the story. It kept it interesting.
I thought the characters were really handled well in this story. I really enjoyed. Jude and May. They were very likable. It was easy for me to root for them. I loved how protective they were of the other. And just how much love there was between them. It was obvious. I loved how he set up to prove to her that he was really interested in her. His Hollywood status didn't mean a thing to him and he didn't act like a selfish, egotistical diva like some actors could be. He was down Earth and a really good guy. He just wanted to be with May and that was it. Their connection was really beautiful.
But not only was it the main characters that I enjoyed, I really, really enjoyed the secondary ones as well. Loved Denny. Thought he was freaking hilarious yet very much protective dad figure to Jude and May. I could he was really rooting for them as a couple. He was completely unfazed when they were in bed together and even expected. It was really funny he interrupted them either before or after they made love and Jude's reaction to it. It was really funny but Denny acted like it happened everyday and was a normal part of life. Also loved Ashley. She had such spunkiness to her that also made me laugh. I loved her relationship with May. I loved I got glimpses of her in the story and just me so intrigued about her and her upcoming story. The seeds were planted now there just needs to be time to grow. I want more of her.
What Lori Foster did really well was create these awful people that were May's family. I hated them with every fiber of my being. Tim was a whining, sniveling baby and I don't know how Jude didn't manage to slug him. I wouldn't have blamed the guy because I wanted to hit him badly. There was not a lot that was redeemable about him. Sure he had a lightbulb moment at the end but that was not enough to redeem him in my eyes. I couldn't stand him. If I thought he was bad her parents were even worse. I hated them more than Tim and that's saying a lot. They were so abusive and unbelievable that it just had me shaking my head. Were they even for real? I was glad there were only two scenes with them because that was plenty.
I throughly enjoyed the book. It had nice development and build up to it to keep my eyes glued to the pages. I was into it. There was something missing that I can't put my finger, which was reason I didn't give this a five stars. Maybe there could have been a bit more intensity, emotional or otherwise, but other that it was really good and I enjoyed the balance between the love story and suspense aspect of the story. The love story won hands down, but I was glad there was a little something extra to it to give it an edge.
I can definitely see myself rereading this book again in the near future and I look forward to doing so.

I really enjoyed seeing the relationship develop between Jude and May through the course of the book. I loved how after over a year that Jude was still trying to woo her after all that time. He was genuinely interested in a small town girl like May but didn't believe that the Former SBC fighter/Hollywood movie star would really want some like her with all curves. Or she believed that he only wanted her because he was bored and using her for his amusement. It was very clear that she was already in love with him and feared that he would break her heart so she kept him at arms length. So he work to convince of his genuine interest. And I loved seeing him work for it, and it made all the more sweeter when they finally came together. It took a good long while. Over half way through, but created lots tension between them as well as great build up that just ticked up the anticipation. I couldn't wait to see them come together. They was so much sexual tension and chemistry between them.
The love scenes were so freaky by worth the wait. I loved them. They were hot. They were sexy. Full passion exploded on the page after all this build up not only over the coarse of the book but the year that they spent getting to know each other. It was a long time coming, but it was so good. I was so happy when they got together. And it was more than lust, it was about the next step in the relationship.
The side plot with the brother was good added an element of danger and suspense that I have come to know are synonymous with Lori Foster books. And though I wasn't on the edge of my seat like I have with other books that I had read of her in the past, it was just enough to give the story kick to it. It added depth and edge to the story. It kept it interesting.
I thought the characters were really handled well in this story. I really enjoyed. Jude and May. They were very likable. It was easy for me to root for them. I loved how protective they were of the other. And just how much love there was between them. It was obvious. I loved how he set up to prove to her that he was really interested in her. His Hollywood status didn't mean a thing to him and he didn't act like a selfish, egotistical diva like some actors could be. He was down Earth and a really good guy. He just wanted to be with May and that was it. Their connection was really beautiful.
But not only was it the main characters that I enjoyed, I really, really enjoyed the secondary ones as well. Loved Denny. Thought he was freaking hilarious yet very much protective dad figure to Jude and May. I could he was really rooting for them as a couple. He was completely unfazed when they were in bed together and even expected. It was really funny he interrupted them either before or after they made love and Jude's reaction to it. It was really funny but Denny acted like it happened everyday and was a normal part of life. Also loved Ashley. She had such spunkiness to her that also made me laugh. I loved her relationship with May. I loved I got glimpses of her in the story and just me so intrigued about her and her upcoming story. The seeds were planted now there just needs to be time to grow. I want more of her.

May es una mujer fuerte y decidida que tiene que lidiar con su desagradable familia, especialmente con su hermano, quienes le echan la culpa de todo lo que pasa y no la valoran en lo absoluto.
Jude es un hombre que lucha por lo que quiere y que ha tenido que sufrir mucho debido a la acusación de asesinato que hay contra él (no es spoiler) pero a pesar de todo no deja que todo esto lo hunda. Al principio no me gusta como Jude es con May, me parece que la ve solo como un objeto y que está obsesionado con tenerla, pero mediante se va desarrollando la historia los sentimientos de ambos tambien lo hacen y se va entendiendo mejor.
El personaje que menos me gustó es Tim, el hermano de May, es irresponsable, no sabe lo que quiere y siempre está dependiendo de los demás (especialmente de May) y esperando que solucionen sus problemas, aveces su personaje no se entiende ya que es un poco contradictorio en algunas partes del libro. El personaje que mas me gusto fue Ashley, es fuerte, determinada y no deja que nadie le diga que no puede lograr las cosas, trabaja (muchísimo) por lo que quiere y es muy alegre y divertida a pesar de las cosas que ha tenido que pasar.
En conclusión es un libro muy interesante y bueno para pasar el rato, con sus cosas buenas y malas. La historia de May y jude está bien creada y es muy entretenida.

Going to have to go with disappointed....Bad Romance...literally
I expected more from this book. Although the description is not what i would normally go for, the romantic streak in me decided i wanted to give it a shot, and let me tell you, first:
1. The trouble this book gave me to purchase it was something else. It kept giving me an error at the checkout multiple times, this should have been my first clue. I persisted and finally it was completed.
2. Excited to start, I mean this smoking dude and sweetheart heroine , what could go wrong but it went wrong...down the hill it did
3. I barely finished, I do not know if it was the writing style but i wish the author had also developed the settings,not much description, you have to figure out where you are, blind sided.
4.Arguing, bantering, I was confused, and it was a mixture of ok, what's happening, where are we again?
5. I left, read another book and came back really wanting to give it a chance....nope.

While I liked this story, I didn't love it. I did like Jude Jamison the hero his character was very well written he's not only tall dark and handsome, but he's smart and sexy as well. He's an ex fighter and currently a Hollywood film star. As for May Price the heroine, I didn't take to her quite as much she's too much of a martyr IMO, the way she tolerated her awful family was annoying. She's none too bright either who opens and runs an art gallery out in the middle of nowhere, when none of the local people can afford the artwork! It's so contrived that Jude is her only customer. Jude has the hots for May but she is either too stupid to notice, or is just avoiding his come ons. Jude has something in his past that still haunts him. When an old enemy comes up close and personal as well as threatening May, he goes into full protective mode.
The supporting cast was good and bad, Denny, who was Jude's best friend and trainer from his SBC fighting days was a great character. Tim, who was May's brother was a true weakling, as for her parents they were awful, but their characterisation was a bit pantomimeish.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a quick read because it was so easy to get involved in. The hero, Jude, is a retired UFC-type fighter turned action movie actor. He has moved to a small town in Ohio to escape the publicity from a murder trial in which he was found innocent. But doubts linger in the public's minds. So the story revolves around solving the mystery of who really did it.
Jude is an avid art collector and is the biggest client of a local gallery owned by May. He is attracted to her but she does not want to get involved with him in spite of his persistence. She considers herself plain and overweight. So she can't imagine that he wants anything other than just a one-night stand, and she won't go for it. She walks a tightrope though because she doesn't want to alienate her number one, and sometimes only, client.
So, naturally, the love story revolves around Jude trying to win her over. A nice HEA. But it does leave several things unresolved. I'm glad I own the second book. I'm starting it right away!

Fun book, quick read. Jude's Law has a fun mix of romance, humor (a little) and suspense (a little). It was a fun escape read and well written.

He has bought a lot of art to try to get closer to May. She has a secret crush on him dating back to his days as an SBC fighter, but cannot believe he could possibably want her. Believe it - he does in a very hard way.
May's very selfish brother, Tim, has gotten beaten up because he owes $50k to a loan shark and the shark wants the money or for Tim to kill Jude. May goes to Jude, right where Jude wants her, and he promises to protect her and Tim.

Witty dialog, great characters, fun, light plot...
I read Lori Fosters books when I want a good story with lots of heart warming stuff, no darkness or angst...just laughter. And romance, of course.
She is a very dependable read.

The book was good, but I really didn't like the main character. She was annoying in so many ways. Of course she was a nice enough person, but I kept wondering, "Why is this man with her?"
The story was good, though, and it led into Murphy's Law, which was VERY good!
