This jewel of a book is filled with wondrous facts about the world that will delight the senses, calm the mind, and awaken the soul. This perfect package provides peace, contemplation, and inspiration page after page with awe-inspiring facts about the world paired with breathtaking National Geographic nature and wildlife photography. Each striking image will allow readers to appreciate the wonder and beauty of the world around us.
This "Little Book of Wonder" is actually just basically what the title says it is a true book of wonder and a truly wonderful book, especially for those who enjoy wonders of nature and/or science. Basically this is one of those books dedicated to those with still wonder in their heart and the curiosity of a cat.
The writing and explanation of the events is simplified to read as well as to understand for younger minds. Fun facts like green icebergs are unraveled and readers are taught what the golden means is as well as where you can find it in nature outside a nautilus shell. Other facts such as that polar bears are black skinned and just appear white due to the diffusion of light are basically already known for many but help to round out the book so the reader doesn't feel like they don't know anything.
The illustrations were a true gem in this book and helped to bring the studied phenomena out to the reader. Just basically if you need a quick nature book this can be a step-in just by enjoying the pictures then guessing what you may be looking at.
All in all a wonderful book and one that I would truly recommend for those who like such science-bound books.
A little table book that is FULL of wonderful things in this earth! The photography is beautiful high just makes the book! There are lots of facts I've never heard of before. I've also added several new places to my LONG wish list of travel places.
I loved this book. The cover caught my eye. It has pictures of rare things in nature from all over the world. I was struck by how many of them were discovered in the latter part of the 20th century or the first part of this century. The photographs are stunning.
I have been spending so much time on my computer lately with online teaching and Zoom meetings. A few days ago I went to the library and checked out a stack of "little" books that I could read in order to take breaks during the day and take my mind off work without looking at youtube or more computer stuff. This is one of the books I checked out. Another reviewer called this a picture book for grown-ups, and I think that's a nice description. The photos are beautiful, and there are lovely bits of information about the natural world. It was a lovely escape especially when we are mostly stuck indoors these days with cold weather and COVID.
This book is worth looking through when a broader perspective is needed. Inspires a sense of wonder and awe. There are miracles around us everyday and everywhere. We get too busy and self-absorbed to pay attention, notice, ponder, and then celebrate!
Lovely little book of facts to motivate travel and peak interest in further research. Great for all ages although I think it a great gift for curious children.
