Moorea Seal is an author, designer, and entrepreneur based out of Seattle, WA. She is the founder and namesake of the women's retail website mooreaseal.com and store front in downtown Seattle which features over 160 handmade designers from across the U.S. and donates 7% of all proceeds to non-profits. Through "The 52 Lists Project" "52 Lists for Happiness" and new latest book "Make Yourself at Home", she seeks to write journals and books that inspire and encourage people from all walks of life, to harness their inner wisdom, strength and self love through list making.

With a degree in Illustration, graduating college in 2009, Moorea was faced with the harsh realities of the job market, or lack there of, during the economic recession. Seeing no straight forward path in a career in the arts, and still unsure of how to mix her passions of art, music, philanthropic work, writing, and fashion into one avenue, she decided to start her blog moorea-seal.com. While juggling 2 full time nanny jobs and a part time job as an artist's assistant to a sculptor, she was blogging everyday to motivate herself to keep creating. She was also singing in a band, teaching herself HTML, and doing freelance Illustration and Design work on the side. Inspired by her work as an artist's assistant, she decided to teach herself how to make jewelry and with $10, two hand me down jewelry pliers from an old lady in her childhood community, and some junk jewelry from a thrift store, she started her first business in Etsy.

By 2010, she began to focus all of her energy on creative pursuits through jewelry design, graphic design, illustration, blog design, and blogging. By 2012, she became a featured persona on Pinterest along side 29 other major brands such as Martha Stewart, Dr Oz, Anthropologie and the U.S. Army in "Pinterest's 30 Days of Pinspiration."

Today you can find her juggling many hats, from being the CEO of the Moorea Seal brand, to writing books, volunteering, motivational speaking, designing new lines of jewelry and accessories, and much more.

I ordered 52 Lists for Happiness: Weekly Journaling Inspiration for Positivity Balance and Joy by Moorea Seal because I enjoyed her The 52 Lists Project: A Year of Weekly Journaling Inspiration. I wanted to keep exploring this idea of a weekly guided journal. 52 Lists for Happiness took on a different tenor for me though. I opted to do the lists every Sunday because I felt it would be a good way to start off the week. I had some struggles this year that sometimes made the lists hard to write and other times the lists cheered me up. Focusing on simple moments of happiness gave me an opportunity to remember the good in my life no matter what happened in the world around me.

While I loved some of the prompts, some of them make me really unhappy to think about. I think for people already struggling, this probably isn't the best gift or tool for them. Some of the lists were really challenging for me in low periods, which was the opposite intent the sender had for me. I also felt like some of the lists, or reflection taking place behind the list, repeated as well. While I do like the prompts, I wouldn't spent the money on this. I would, however, consider other books of this nature by the author.

I enjoyed the first book in this series and I’m glad I picked up another. 52 lists for happiness was just what I needed and sitting down to do a list once a week helped me build a self care practice.

Use this as a companion to my bullet journaling. Each week I answer the question and review/incorporate the activity associated with it. The drawings and photos are fun and inspired me to doodle (not sure it can be called drawing yet...) some of my lists. To be honest, I needed the reminder throughout the year to look at what brings "positivity, balance, and joy". I do not write in mine although there is space to do so because I like to pass these types of books on to others to enjoy. Recommended for my fellow Journalers!

This is a journal-type book for each week of the year. There are prompts for you to reflect on yourself, experiences, desires, achievements, and wishes for future. I would often start a list and wonder how I would fill the two allotted pages. However, once I got started, I found I had a lot of interesting things to list!

The process of just sitting and reflecting on a topic was constructive and inevitably spurred a series of thoughts. Sometimes I was pleasantly surprised with and happy to discover the things that would come to mind. Indeed, I think this is the purpose of the book: to take time for yourself to enable self-discovery. The journal cues you to be introspective and focused on what is most meaningful to you.

My only hesitancy in not giving the book five stars is that I sometimes found certain responses being repeated for me across the different lists. This could serve as validation of certain ideas for myself or a need for more variation of prompts. Nevertheless, I am happy to have the completed journal as a useful reference for myself.

I bought this as a gift for my Mom and think she will love it! She loves making lists and this will be a great way for her to easily capture her thoughts, memories, aspirations, dreams, goals, etc. in the coming year. I am also participating in the original 52 lists book for 2018 and it will be fun to share this journey with her and see what she writes for her weekly lists. I am excited to also have this as a journal for us to look back on together.

So far it’s such a lovely book with prompts for self exploration. It has really made me learn a lot about myself that I didn’t even think of before and it’s such a good way to be present and to learn more about how to make you happy and who you are.

Prompts and inspiration for writing each week of the year, this journal and mindfulness book to focus on joy carried me through the year. Some of the weeks started to feel repetitive, but all in all, a good reminder to shift focus.

I LOVE this book! While there were some questions i "saved for later", most of the writing prompts made me take a good look into my life, and question things. I would say that this book certainly inspired me to make more positive choices, and to continue to find books like this along my journey

Sent to me by a friend. Lots of weekly "thankful" type prompts for happiness it is a really nice and beautiful little journal. But I wouldn't call it a journal even. Just a book to write for weekly lists like groceries of gratitude🥰

Helps to build a thoughtful process to learn about yourself. I am working on completing it as a shared exercise with my daughter (she writes in the book, I write in a journal).

I won this on goodreads some time ago. I have to say I didn’t keep up with it. But if I was more inclined to journal I would definitely recommend it.
