It's me, Kae! After resolving my differences with Shima-chan, the gang is all together again for a special trip to visit the shrine of a beloved anime character...I mean, historical figure! Things get steamy at a hot springs inn-communal baths, pillow fights--seeing these gorgeous guys together is just too much!!
But it's not all fun and fantasies when Igarashi buckles down to win me over. Are these feelings I get around him something more than friendship? Mustumi-senpai has also stayed close after his confession, and a strange turn of events o our vacation gives him the chance for more alone time with me.
Back at home, the other boys' progress has Nanashima feeling left out in the cold, without some otaku common ground, he doesn't know how to get closer, but his little sister's anime obsession might be the answer he needs! He's really working hard now, and after all that effort, he makes a shocking move to declare his feelings.
I put off reading this one for a loooong time, because I started watching the anime between the previous volume and this one and so I already knew what would happen in this one. And...it's a weird one. I do really love Nana's relationship with his little sister, but other than that the stories in this volume are just so ridiculous and over the top. I guess I just prefer the series when it's a little more based in reality (if this series ever actually is).
I love you Mutsumi-senpai! I want him and Igarashi to battle it out for Kae's affections! It fascinating that I can't tell who she'll end up with at this point. I was sure it was going to be Igarashi (and it still might) but I believe Mutsumi still has a chance!! I can't wait to read the next one! :D
Today's manga post is on Kiss Him, Not Me!, Vol. 7 by Junko. It is 176 pages long and is published by Kodansha Comics. The cover has gaint Kae in a red sress and the boys all around her. There is no foul language, no sex, and no violence in this volume. The intended reader is someone who likes shojo manga tropes and comedy. The story is told from third person close of the main character, Kae. There Be Spoilers Ahead. From the back of the manga- It's me, Kae! After resolving my differences with Shima-chan, the gang is all together again for a special trip to visit the shrine of a beloved anime character...I mean, historical figure! Things get steamy at a hot springs inn-communal baths, pillow fights--seeing these gorgeous guys together is just too much!! Review- All of Kae's friends are still trying to win her over but she is still unsure about her feelings or what she wants. The best part is when they go to a haunted island and Kae accidentially helps the ghosts there by being a fangirl. Asuma-senpai and Kae have moment on the island and I like him the best, as he liked her before she lost weight and he supports her interests. I look forward to whatever craziness is going to happen next.
I give this volume a Four out of Five stars. I get nothing for my review and I bought this manga wiht my own money.
Mostly concerns Serinuma and co's trip to go see the basis for Akane + Master's anime depictions, an old warrior from days gone by. Finishes with a Nanashima story, though it only goes through the beginning of the story; have to wait for the conclusion in part 8.
It's becoming pretty evident that certain characters have more of a shot at Serinuma than others. Shinomiya did almost nothing in volume 7 (he walked into the open bath with his shirt exposed), but the author just wrote "Something's even changed with Shinomiya.." just to have him seem like he has one up on Nanashima. Igarashi's interactions are kind of bleh too even though this was his chapter. Nishina has the whole class difference, and her scenes feel more comic relief than romantic much of the time. And Senpai is doing senpai things, which means making her heart race by accident, usually ending up with the most alone time with her, and just generally being more up for her hobbies (because a lot of her Shoujo manga intersects with history). =P
I do wonder if the other characters will all just end up unhappy. I'm sure they'll be happy for Serinuma being happy, but will any of them end up in separate relationships?
“As long as there's Puri-Puri-Moon, there will be no nights where the moon is shrouded in darkness!”
I gotta be honest, the chapters that were about the trip, and them getting accidentally high on hallucinogenic mushrooms then stranded on a tiny island during a storm, wasn't all that interesting. The best part about all of that was the development between Kae and Igarashi, and Mutsumi and Kae. My favorite chapter was the last one, because of how cute Nana is with his sister, and that ending!
The trip that everyone took to the Holy Lands was cute and amusing to see. It got tense at first but thankfully everyone made it off the island relatively fine. I also really don’t like Nanashima for what he did in the last chapter. I hope he apologizes and tries to redeem himself in the next volume.
3.5* I liked this. There was a cute scene with Mutsumi but otherwise I don’t have a lot to say about this volume. It didn’t really progress the story in anyway and this story is starting to feel dragged out. I thought after everyone confessed to being in love with her the story would start going somewhere but it doesn’t seem to be.
Another great volume! I cannot recommend this series enough! It is so swoony and awesome! I love Nana so much and these characters are killing me with their constant competition over our main girl. I love them all and so excited to get the next volume soon!
Mutsumi is best, but I actually really like the Nanashima arc that starts in this one. The Puri Puri Moon show is great, and Nanashima's little sister is adorable. It all gives Nanashima some much needed depth.
I loved this volume! Mutsumi is my favorite and I enjoyed seeing him get more love in this one! The haunted island arc is really good and fun to read. It’s still unclear of who is going to win Kae’s heart but I can’t wait to see
The last chapter of this one was redeeming! Okay yeah, now I have to continue after that cliffhanger! I really hope that the rest of the series is like that! This is what an Otome should be like! Not all this group crap. I don't like all the bickering between the candidates if you will.
The author(s?) keep coming up with good stories without needing a strong sexual overtone (panty peeks, boobs, etc.). They slowly reveal their characters with added humor. There are at least 7 more volumes, but I only have volume 8.
There was quite a bit of focus on my preferred pairing in this one, so it made me happy. For a little while, I'd thought that she was going for Igarashi, but now I have hope for my Mutsumi! :D
The haunted island arc is my favorite one! But I kind of hate the one right after. Like Nana wasn't that great to begin with but then this part really fucks up my view of his character.
