Reclining Nude in Chicago

Rate this book
Set to interview Matisse expert and curator Pierce Marten in a Chicago loft, freelance art writer Julia Van Rothfelder is mistaken for an artist's life model.

Finding herself reclining nude posing for a handsome casually dressed curator, nothing like what she had imagined, a well-groomed man in a business suit enters the artist loft.

As Julia surveys the two men standing before her, she wonders...

Who is the new man?
Who is the man behind the canvas?

And better question, why am I nude?

Fifi Flowers is a supremely classy writer. Her voice is elegant, and her style is charming. Even though her stories take place in the here and now I feel as if I am transported to a much more refined world than the one we currently live in. I’d like to live in that world, please! After reading her recently released novel, Just A Number, which I adored, I wanted to stay in the Fifi Flowers orbit a bit longer. So I opened Reclining Nude in Chicago and promptly fell in lust. This is an older novella; book one in the Encounters series. And with the imminent release of book two (Falling In Montmartre), I convinced myself it was only logical to start at the beginning. No, it’s not necessary to read them in order. They stand alone. But my logical self doesn’t need to know that. Reclining Nude in Chicago is not quite as polished as Just A Number, but that's merely an observation and in no way indicates that there is anything inferior about this story. In fact, I think it says a lot about Ms. Flowers’ growth as a writer.

One of the things I love about Fifi Flowers’ stories is her ability to set the mood like nobody’s business. We are introduced to freelance art writer Julia Van Rothfelder, as she sits at an outdoor cafe in her West Hollywood neighborhood pondering a list of former lovers. Sadly, none of them could elicit a level of excitement equal to that of sinking her teeth into a new story about the art world. As luck would have it, Julia discovers the announcement of a new Matisse exhibit set to open in Chicago in a few months. Matisse being her absolute favorite artist, she sets her mind on writing an article about the exhibit. See, right there...classy. Like any good writer, Julia begins researching her subject. Which leads her, finally! to the curator, Pierce Marten. A phone call, during which Julia imagines him to be a curmudgeonly pain in the butt despite his very manly and sexy voice, leads to days and days of texts between them. Texts which become increasingly full of fun and innuendo. Who knew Mr. Marten had it in him?

The day finally arrives for Julia to travel to Chicago to interview Mr. Marten. Only to get distracted at the hotel bar, flirting no less, causing her to be late for their evening meet up. The large brick building in an industrial neighborhood is not what she expects. But she’s often had to visit artist lofts for her articles. What she hasn’t encountered, until this night, is a cranky and bossy man who admonishes her for being late, then orders her to strip naked and pose on a bed just opposite his artist’s easel. The man is so commanding, and gorgeous, that Julia doesn’t think twice about obeying him. Well, maybe she does think twice but it's all just so crazy and dreamlike that she’s compelled to see what happens next.

What happens next is one hot little story! It’s loaded with mouthwatering, panty destroying sexed up yumminess. When the real Mr. Marten arrives, and Julia learns she's being painted by Mr. Marten’s good friend Emerson, the vibe in the loft shifts. Oh my goodness, Mr. Marten! What we have here, lovelies is a case of Two, two, two for the price of one! Eventually, two leads to only one. This love story has everything I want in a novella. It sucks you in and takes you for a damn hot ride. It has your emotions all revved up, not to mention those private bits down below. And the epilogue! Gah! I loved Reclining Nude in Chicago and can’t wait for Falling in Montmartre.

**TARA'S REVIEW**

*4 Double Penetrating Stars*

As the old adage goes, Don't judge a book by it's cover. At first glance the cover makes you wonder, well I will leave that to your own opinions. The depiction of the cover is actually a huge portion of plot line of the story.

Meet Julia Van Rothfelder, a freelance writer living in LA's trendy downtown district. When she is hired to write a piece on an art opening for famous French artist Henri Matisse in Chicago, her world is turned upside down by not one but two HOT Alpha males. She arranges an interview with the curator of the exhibit and makes her way to Chicago. Upon arriving late for her scheduled meeting, things do not go as planned. She has a chance encounter that will turn out to be an amazing night filled with hot steamy lustful sex, which will lead to so much more.

"I was lost in an erotic dream, only it wasn't a dream."

As the novella plays out, Julia is treated to some amazing sexual experience, a small amount of heartbreak, and even more amazing sex. This is a quick read with a great plot line. Fifi is very descriptive in explaining scenarios, but I felt the sex scenes could have used just a little boost. Although they were very *hot* I wish they were a little longer and drawn out.

A few of my favorite lines:

"The smell of sex was utterly intoxicating, making me hotter and wetter."

"Feeling the first waves on my walls gripping him hard; he pushed my legs off, and pulled out of me."

"Covering my body, I felt his firmness slide against my aching nub and I moaned."

Overall, a hot steamy read filled with sexy characters that will leave tingles all over. Everyone needs a little Emerson & Pierce in their lives. *swoon*

*I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.*

First I would like to think Fifi Flowers for an ARC copy of Reclining Nude in Chicago in exchange for an honest review.

It has been sometime since I have read an erotic novel. Reclining Nude in Chicago reminded me of what I have been missing. The story is well written and the characters very likeable! Oh and did I mention its hot, Hot, HOT!

This novella begins as freelance art reporter Julia ventures up to Chicago to dig into the museum curator who is hosting a gala for her favorite artist, Henri Matisse. After playful, flirty, banter via text messaging Julia is set to meet the curator face-to-face. What she encounters is a fantasy come to life!

Julia delves into the world of ménage-à-trois. Pierce the handsome curator and Emerson the artist that resembles the likes of Matisse.

The pages heat up, but can the trio work out or will heartbreak be on the way?

"Julia, look at me." Raising my head in his direction, I wiped a couple tears from my cheeks. "Go home Julia. Sometimes the answers are right in front of our faces."

Reclining Nude in Chicago is a beautiful read. I really enjoyed it and although it was only 156 pages, it said more in those pages than many love stories I have read that were 300- 400 pages or longer. The book is well written and the characters are well-developed. It has a good plot and I did not really know what was going to happen, (even though I knew what I wanted to happen) until all was revealed at the end of the book. After reading this book, I went right to Amazon to see if she had written any other books, this one was that good!

A free-lance art writer, Julia, has always had a love of the artist Matisse, since she studied his works in college and now she has a lead to a new exhibit that is going to be shown in Chicago, so her boss gives her the okay to go and see what is going to be shown when the exhibit opens in a couple of months. She calls the museum and no one knows much so she asks to be connected with the curator. He is not there so she leaves a message.

The curator, although a slightly rude person to begin with, asks her question after question talks with her a while more and tells her to come to Chicago and he will give her the rundown and show her around the museum. Julia excitedly agrees to go in a week's time. During the week while she is waiting to go, Pierce texts her constantly and they have some interesting conversations. The day she leaves he gives her the door code and the elevator code of where he wants her to go, so so they can meet.

This is where things get interesting! Julia shows up and does not see anyone at first so calls out and a man starts yelling at her for being late and tells her to remove all of her clothes and get on the bed! A while after this happens, and Julia is sitting there another man comes in and he asks the artist, Emerson, if his friend showed up! Julia then realizes that the artist is not the museum curator at all, but an actual artist! The museum curator Pierce then asks her why she is sitting there and got naked for a man she did not know! The artist is not even upset that the model he paid did not show up and continues what he is doing- painting. Things happen after that between the 3 of them and they have several encounters together, something new for Julia, and she finds that she is starting to develop feelings for the artist, as every night she winds up with him after Pierce leaves, and he takes care of her personally and is affectionate with her.

After a couple of mind blowing days, Julia returns home, after she agrees to return for the opening. Julia misses Emerson and thinks of him all the time. One day she gets a text from him stating he is coming to Hollywood, and if she knows of a good place he can stay? Of course she tells him she does, and he shows up at her home and they have a wonderful week together and he surprises her when they show up at an art exhibit he is having in Hollywood! Emerson has to go back to Chicago, and he sees the invitation that Pierce has sent Julia, a personal invitation, and he becomes very jealous but says nothing.

The day comes when she returns to Chicago for the opening and Julia sees Emerson-with another woman. As she goes to leave after the dinner he stops her and asks her where she is going? Julia tells him its none of his concern to go back to his date, Julia feels hurt, and just has to get out of there.

What happens with Julia and Emerson? What is going on between Julia and Pierce? What is going on that she does not understand? There is a lot of angst between the characters, and I could not tell what was going to happen, the author will keep you guessing!

You have to read this book to see what happens, and how sometimes the most innocent of things can cause life altering events.
You will be glad you read this book, and I guarantee, you will love the way this writer writes! I positively know the ending will really surprise you-it did me!

I gave this book 5***** stars, and I can't wait to see more by this author!

FIFI FLOWER

"RECLINING NUDE IN CHICAGO"

We were asked to write a review on this book and we thought why not sounds great, so I started reading it and we remember about 15-20% of the way through we thought “oh shit, really did we miss something” cause it just went bang bang bang we even turned back a couple of pages and re read them thinking we may have missed something but surely enough we hadn’t and we were laughing to our self thinking wow this chick is lucky we want to be her!!!

We like it when a book doesn’t ramble on forever, over and over again about the same feelings, we found that Reclining nude in Chicago didn’t do that it got straight to the point of the book, yes it did explain what she was feeling and thinking but it wasn’t dwelled on which is great. We found this book different to a lot of the other books we have read it wasn’t the normal million air/ bad boy/ school boy / C.E.Os. / Rocker; Pierce is a hot museum curator, Julia was a freelance journalist and Emerson was a sexy artist what a hot combo!!!

The book starts off with Julia wanting to conduct an interview with Pierce, any way she goes to interview him but gets side tracked in a bar and is late for the interview, she makes it to the loft enters and when she gets inside she’s greeted by Emerson who she thinks at the time is the curator, and mind u a very naked Emerson!!

He doesn’t speak to her other than to tell her to strip and get on the bed which she does, he then starts to paint her then all of a sudden another male walks in which is Pierce….. They then work out who is who and then it gets very…… sexual and hot with a threesome!!

Fast forward a little bit they fuck for a few days Julia loves it 2 males at your attention… very hot.

A few week later after her and Emerson have hooked up a few more time she starts to fall hard for Emerson they fall in love and that’s about the end of the story.

This book was a fantastic quick hot read with a little bit extra at the end of the hot story of Pierce and Chloe which has some steamy hot scenes!!

We highly recommend this book if ur after a quick steamy book!! 10/10

Oh my freaking gosh. This novella is such a spicy read, you won’t want to miss out. It is intended for audiences 18 and over, though.
In this novella, Julia is a freelance artist that occasionally writes for a magazine. Julia has had the worst luck trying to find a man. She’s dated, or well, spent the night with, several men, but none of them do it for her. That is, until she meets two men on an assignment for the magazine she works for.
First, there’s Pierce. A museum curator who loves the same artist she does. He’s sexy, smart, and wears those black-framed glasses like no other man. When she spoke with him for the first time over the phone, she believed he was an old, yet fun, man. She was wrong, so, so wrong. When she made her trip to Chicago, he gave her the address to a loft where they were supposed to meet. This is where she meets Emerson.
Emerson is tall, big, and oh so devastatingly gorgeous. He’s quiet, commanding, and dominates a room with just his presence. An ex-wrestler turned artist, he paints just like the artist Julia idolizes. His big hands can do wonders with a small paintbrush, creating masterpieces that blew Julia away.
Imagine Julia’s shock when Pierce walked in. Pierce just laughed it off as if he was used to walking into rooms with naked women being painted. After Julia conducts her interview with Pierce, things start to get heated up. These fires stay heated for the few days she’s in Chicago. One of these men, though, has been causing her heart to flutter. She struggles with distance, since she is native to Los Angeles and he is in Chicago. The man feels the same and does whatever he can to be with her. He is determined to make it work and so is she.
This novella should come with a warning: keep your husband, boyfriend, or B.O.B within reach while reading! Great job, Fifi, on this amazing novella! I gave this novella four stars. The unique story line flowed together nicely, but I was never emotionally invested in the story. If you’re looking for a quick, quirky read, then this is for you!

I had the honor of reading this as an ARC from Fifi Flowers. Having loved her debut novel A Window to Love I couldn’t wait to see what was in store for her newest novella. Having said that, let’s get to the good stuff!!

We first met Julia who is a journalist who specializes in Art. When she learns of an exhibit on her favorite artiest, Matisse, she immediately jumps at the chance to meet the museum curator who is behind it all.

Julia and Pierce, the curator, begin their professional relationship mostly through text messages. This professional relationship, starts to take a turn to a little bit more personal throughout the next several weeks. She agrees to meet him in Chicago and when she walks into the loft… she’s greeted with a little more than she imagined.

Emerson takes Julia by surprise, asking her to strip all of her clothes and pose on the bed for him to paint. Hesitant..she complies… Only, she thinks he is Pierce!! When Pierce does walk in, tall, built, three piece suit.. as she lay naked… she is even more turned on than before! I can’t say anything else about this scene without spoilers but let your imagination run wild!!

Emerson has a softer side to him than Pierce does. He even goes to visit her back home in LA, making her feelings for him over the span of only a few days, grow beyond her dreams. Jealousy, lots of sex, and short visits expands the relationship of these two. Only when she meets with Pierce does she realize Emerson’s true feelings.

I read this novella in a matter of a few short hours. Being short does not take away from the detail that Fifi Flowers pours into this book. Her love for art is shown through every chapter and the hot steamy affair between the three main characters will have you wanting for more! Holy effen cow! I dreamt about Emerson the night that I read this book… YUM!! Fifi Flowers has made me an even bigger fan of hers with this one!

Let me just start off by saying thank you to Fifi Flowers for offering an ARC of Reclining Nude in Chicago to us. We are honored to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Julia is a freelance art reporter that goes to Chicago to do an interview with the museum curator "Pierce". Julia is meeting with him in regards to one of her favorite artist, Henri Matisse. Prior to meeting, Pierce and Julia text each other regarding art pieces that will be displayed at the Gala that Pierce is hosting. Pierce texts Julia an address of where to meet for their first meeting. However, when Julia steps into the loft her life changes unexpectedly.

When Julia steps foot into the loft she is met by Emerson, a quiet, sexy man that can dominate the room with just a few words. Emerson mistakes Julia for a model and starts making demands towards her. Moment's later.. in walks Peirce. Pierce is nothing what Julia expected. Pierce is younger then what she was thinking and hotter then what she can hope for. After conducting the interview with Pierce, and Emerson completes his painting of Julia, things start to get hot!!!

During Julia's stay in Chicago and the hotness continues to grow!! However, when Julia returns to Los Angeles she can't seem to stop thinking of one man particular. Will they be together in the end? Or will the distance between each other be too much to over come?

I tend to like my books a little longer to get more into the characters. However, this was a quick, hot and easy read. I enjoyed seeing the difference in the personality's of Emerson and Peirce. In the end I was happy with the outcome. One thing I really liked was the way the epilogue was done. I enjoyed how it was written in someone else's POV. I liked how it went back to their thoughts throughout the book.

Thinking of the story and the hotness of the scenes I definitely will rate this book 4 stars!

Please note that this book has two different covers. The newest one is much better. There is two stories in this book.
Julia is a freelance writer for the art community in La. She travels and covers new artists as well as new exhibits. One of her favorite artists (who is dead and French) will be in a show in Chicago. She goes and meets the museum courier. But when she shows up, she is told to strip and lay on the bed nude. She complies and not sure why she does. Than a man in the suit comes in mad because his reporter didn't show. She speaks up and tells them she is the reporter not the model. Both guys are shocked. Both make her happy all weekend. Then she leaves and feels like she has lost the loves of her life. When one of them shows up at her door, excited that he is there and spending a week with her. Then she goes back to Chicago for the exhibit. When she goes home she feels like she has lost her lovers again until she is given an assignment. Then she knows who she loves and who lives her.
The second story is about the other guy. Sorry I can't say more or I would blow the stories. Enjoy.

This was a great read!
I try to go into every book I read with no expectations of the content. It's why I don't read reviews beforehand because I don't want anything to taint the experience, but I did go into this one with expectations, things I expected it to be and it was so much more!!
I am so glad I took the chance with this book because not only was there two men, one more alpha then the other, but both equally as hot, and extremely sexy, hot and gritty sex scenes (which to be honest, normally aren't my thing), there was also a bucket load of information too. Things I didn't know about that I learned while reading it. To be specific, the background given about the art world. I found that aspect as fascinating as the love story!
I also want to add that getting to see things from Emerson's perspective, it was brilliant. I'd been dying to get inside his head and Fifi delivered. I also enjoyed getting to see the other side of the coin and reading about Pierce separate from Julia and Emerson. It was the perfect edition.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, this was a great read!

When she gets to the building she is ordered to strip and pose nude. Things then get stranger when another man enters and leaves Julia pondering who the hell this new man is & why the hell is she Reclining Nude in Chicago.

Fifi thank you so much for the ARC copy of Reclining Nude in Chicago. Now I usually stay away from Novellas due to the length but was I pleasantly surprised by this book. I will not reveal any spoilers but lets just say there was so much going on in this story you will need to have the air condition on or a significant other close by while reading. Julia reveals a few romantic encounters with us which is then followed by a hot and steamy ménage-a-trios between gorgeous men. She is overwhelmed by the magnitude of erotic fantasies that are being fulfilled. Never in her life did she expect to experience this. When feelings find its way within the trio Julia has to decide is it lust or love and is it all one sided. This book was very well written and a good read. I could not give it anything less than 5 STARS!!!!!!!

Julia is a reporter who is meeting an art curator, Pierce, to interview him for her article. She ends up walking into a loft where an artist, Emerson, is waiting for his model who is late. He is very abrupt and demands her to strip, climb on the bed and not speak. She does as she is told. It isn't until Pierce shows up and she realizes the mistake that she gets uncomfortable. But both men make her feel very comfortable. She enjoys her time with both of them and is sad when she has to leave. She realizes that she has feelings for Emerson and enjoys a few days that he spends at her home. When she returns to the art museum for the Gala she see's Emerson with another woman & thinks she has been replaced. Has she? Was there time together just a good time for him...
Read it to see how it ends you won't be disappointed. Some HOT sex scenes in this book;-)

First I want to thank Fifi, for providing me with an ARC copy of this book to review for the release :)

Although I enjoyed the book, it's only a short novella, so if you don't like these types, then maybe this isn't for you :) I finished this in a couple of hours :)

It's a story of a young writer who has a passion for art, Julia takes a trip to Chicago to follow up on a piece of an Artist she loves. What she wasn't encountering on, was an encounter with not only one

HOT hunk, but TWO!

We are entangled in a web of lust, sex and of course art.

Can love prevail from a spur of the moment encounter?

I would rate this book 3.5 - 4 :)

It's crazy that I liked this. Then again I thought Matisse was a crazy painter, but I like his work.

This story is about a horny art writer who goes to Chicago to meet with a curator of a Matisse exhibit. She ends up instead posing for an artist who is like Matisse reincarnated. I will not provide spoilers, except to say that this is EROTICA, the main character is sexually liberated, and, refreshingly without some horrific abusive backstory.

Contains consensual sex, M/F, M/F/M sexual encounters, HEA.

Bonus, there's a short story included that was fun to read, about the curator. I wish this were longer, however.

I have to say that I think this is my new favorite book by Fifi Flower...One that must get in paperback and keep close by for the MANY re-reads that I plan on doing with this story!! OMG is this story HOT!! The instant chemistry between Julia, Emerson, and Pierce left my kindle smoking from the heat ;-) I was hooked from very beginning of this story and was sad when this story was over. I wanted so much more :-D

This book is one that I whole-hardheartedly recommend to anyone looking for an AMAZING erotic read. You will not be sorry with this one!! Fifi has written a book that will stay in your mind and heart long after you read the words, "The End"

This book started off slow, it was very descriptive about the surroundings and about the art, which I am not personally into. This made me confused, as I didn’t relate to her feelings and I thought about giving up. However, the story took a turn very quickly after that and I really enjoyed it. I didn’t expect it go in the direction that it did and it was a pleasant surprise.

Bear with this book and you will enjoy it, a lot. There is also a bonus short story at the end which was short, hot and very enjoyable.

I give this book 3.5 stars because I would have given up if I had bought this book, but I am happy I didn’t.

Do not judge a book by it's cover. It may not have a spicy hot cover, but it's pages will leave you hot and bothered!

Julia ends up at the right place with the wrong person. Thinking she is meeting Pierce the museum curator she is to interview she gets quite a surprise. Emerson the sexy artist does not know she is not his model and what transpires will leave you lusting for more.

Never fear, Pierce's story follows detailing his taming by the hot Human Resources / burlesque performer Chloe.

If you need a quick sexy read, check out this spicy novella.

I was given a copy by the author in exchange for an honest review.

This was a quick hot and steamy read. I finished this book in one setting. All three characters were amazing and hot. I love the detailed descriptions of everything going on. Again the author filled this short read with so much, it was hard to put down. I so totally enjoyed this one.

Fifi Flowers is a new author to me, and I can't wait to read more! I absolutely loved this story! It was a masterfully written, emotional journey into the life of Julia. I felt like I was there! Ms. Flowers did an excellent job describing the scenes and the emotions. I felt the passion, love, and heartache right along with Julia. It was like she was my best friend telling me about her new love. I missed the character dialogue but loved that we got Emerson's side of the story in the epilogue.

I received a free copy of the expanded version for an honest review.

This is another hot read from Fifi Flowers. Julia was just doing her job writing articles on Art. When she is mistaken for a nude model. Boy did that turn out in her favor. Not one but two delicious hot men are pinning for her attention. Emerson and Pierce are like night and day. It will be fun to see who Julia ends up with.

Now that's how you write threesome scenes! Very very hooooot! I can't wait to read more of Fifi's stories. This story had great characters, flowed well, and let's not forget the sex scenes....simply amazing. You'll get lost in this one for sure.
