Set Aside by Kelly Collins
The Second Chance #2

Holly is being released from prison and her friend Mickey is there to meet her when she gets out. Mickey owns M&M ranch and is providing her a place to stay while she gets her feet back on the ground after two years in prison. She hopes to reinstate her nursing license and resume the life she left behind. The people Holly thought she could depend on, her best friend Carla and ex-fiancé Matt, are not the sort of friends she needs. Putting her past behind her she decides to embrace life and in so doing makes some good new friends on the ranch.

Who does she meet and make friends with? Well, she knows Mickey and meets Kerrick – her significant other. Killian and Keagan are both there bringing their expertise to enhance what the ranch has to offer and are the brothers of Kerrick. Roland the veterinarian is a charmer but just a friend to Holly as is the new hire, Cole. The other McKinley brothers might show up in other books in the series and it will be nice to get to know them, too. She also makes friends at the hospice facility where she decides to volunteer.

Keagan is drawn to Holly immediately but as she does not fit in with his plans he fights the attraction…for a little while. When he begins to let his guard down things begin to heat up immediately. Both Holly and Keagan have goals and similar interests. It is interesting and fun to watch their relationship grow in spite of some setbacks that occur.

There is great potential for more books in this series with a cast of characters that all seem worthy of having their stories told.

Thank you to the author for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

My Review:

I am thoroughly enjoying Kelly Collin's Second Chance series. Book two, Set Aside, provides an active, intriguing, and amusing yet heart squeezing love story between a female ex-con and a cowboy who likes to watch Hallmark movies and the Food Channel. Smirk. Ms. Collin's brings clever humor, angst, steamy sensuality, and a sweet love story to this entertaining plot. I am already looking forward to book three, Set In Stone.

I absolutely love this series. Everyone deserves a second chance and Holly is no exception. She has had everything taken from her. Her mother passed, she lost her nurses license and her fiancee while in jail. Mickey has her set up at the ranch where she meets Keegan. He is all cowboy and wants nothing to do with Holly. Love has a mind of its own you never know when or where it will come from. I give this 5 stars. Thank you to author for a chance to read this book for an honest review. Can't wait to read the next book in the series.

Hmmmmmm. Let see... can the McKinley men get any hotter? Of coarse Keagan's strong persona will wrap holly in a blanket full of love erasing all the hurt life has brought her way. She deserves happiness and that's exactly what he provides for her. A beautiful book to read.

This was an enjoyable story. I liked both Holly and Keagan and liked their story.

Holly was a nurse but got busted buying marijuana for her mother (who had cancer) and got sent to prison for 2 years. Her fiancee, Matt, is a doctor that works in the same hospital she had a supervisory position at. He said he'd wait for her but she finds out at the start of the story that his assurances were far from true.

Keagan is a skilled horse breeder who moved to Colorado to make a new start while building a new business with 2 of his brothers. Keagan loved once and things didn't turn out well so he's intending to concentrate on his work. At least that's the plan until Holly shows up.

Holly gets out of prison a week earlier than Matt expects and Mickie (heroine from book #1) meets her when she's released. They go to Holly and Matt's apartment and soon find out that Matt had replaced her so Holly tells him where to get off and goes to stay with Mickie. Thankfully, Mickie's ranch has around 8 cabins that the hired hands/guests can stay in so Holly has a place to call her own. When Holly arrives, Keagan is affected and no happy about it so he's a bit of a jerk, running hot and cold at first.

Keagan's issues don't last too long and he and Holly do start a relationship relatively quickly. Holly tries to sort out her life and see if she can get her nursing license back but that proves to be difficult. Things with Keagan go surprisingly smoothly once they get past their initial issues...sometimes almost too smoothly. There were a couple issues but nothing overly angst-filled and the story ends with Keagan and Holly happily starting on a HEA together.

This was an enjoyable story. I liked both Holly and Keagan and thought they made a good couple. I will say that once Keagan and Holly got on the same page about their relationship, there were times when they were almost too saccharine sweet...just a bit heavy on the sappy factor at times. Overall, I did like the story and characters and am planning to continue the series. :)

Set Aside by Kelly Collins
This is the 2nd book in the Second Chance Series by Kelly Collins!
When Holly McGrath walked into prison she had a mother, a fiancée and a career. She walks out with none of it. Mickey Mercer, whom had met Kelly in prison, had promised Holly she would be there to pick her up when she got out. She had a cabin on the ranch all ready for Holly and Mickey did indeed follow up and was there to meet her.
They first made a stop at what had been Matt & Holly’s apartment to pick up Holly’s belongings and to try to catch Matt with Holly’s replacement. When Holly knocked on the door and Matt opened it the color totally drained from his face. Holly noticed the pictures of them were missing, her favorite nursing book was gone, she went to find some different clothes and Matt followed her and tried to block the closet door. She confessed that she already knew he had replaced her. Her jeep was not there either and he would have to deliver it and her things which he said were boxed up to her later that day.
Back at the M & M ranch Keagan McKinley had moved there as favor to his brother. They were turning the ranch into a thriving horse breeding and boarding facility. Keagan had planned to proof to his brothers that he was worth something. He thought there would be no distractions but that was until Holly showed up at the ranch. Holly was tall and beautiful. Yep a total distraction and Mickey had fixed up the cabin right next door to Keagan for Holly.
They were celebrating Holly’s release with dinner at Rick’s Roost and she told Matt he could bring them to her there. The boxes of clothes he gave to her right away but said to bring the jeep and medical book to her that night. Oh yeah and bring your new girlfriend.
When Matt and girlfriend came to the Rick’s Roost that night Holly got what she thought was Matt’s new girlfriend, none other than he own friend Carla. Carla had gotten Holly’s job, Holly’s man and Holly’s old apartment!
The story for sure is about second chances and trying to start over. I can’t wait to see the next book about the next McKinley book. Kelly Collins does great job writing about the farm, the family and the ex-cons. You will love it.

I think I liked the first book better. Things just happened so fast. One minute Keagen doesn't want Holly and goes out of way to be a jerk and the very next day he has a change of heart because he heard her crying. But it was pretty much insta-love with these two. And the ending was wrapped up way to quick. It left me slightly dissatisfied. Otherwise this was a good read.

Another great read for this series of second chances and bad decisions. With Holly coming out of prison with nowhere to go Mickey opens her home to her to give her the chance to get back on her feet. Sometimes families do not look out for you but you have to look out for them. Holly tried to help her mother and ends up in jail. She has lost so much and just doesn’t see how to dig her way out. Coming out she meets Keagan who is a lot like his brother he is kind, sweet, caring and always gives a helping hand.

Holly is a very independent strong woman who is use to doing for herself. She is so sweet, caring and easy to love. Keagan just wants to help her and show her that happiness can be hers again. They are just too cute even when they butt heads you can see how much they care for each other.

I loved the humor on this book it really adds a lot to this story. I adore the characters and some I didn’t like at all. It was nice to touch base with the characters we have come to love and see what is new in their life. I loved this plot with the hot steamy scenes which makes you just about fan yourself. I loved the twists and turns the author gave it with some action, humor and lots of love. Trust is a hard thing to give when it has been taken away. One ex boyfriend and looks to be ex friend who makes you wonder just what has been going on. This title sure does hit this read. The author gives you a wonderful story that you get lost in as you turn the pages to see what new she has for you. I am so hooked on this series I cannot wait for the next one.

She had to set her life aside, but now she’s back … and she wants it all.
The desires of Holly to go back into her life of nursing are so wonderfully written that you feel you are Holly. Then the hate you feel for her ex-fiancee and Holly still believing she had friends outside of prison is heartbreaking. It is all written in a true style, gut wrenchingly so. I admire that very much. I loved the book, truly and I love how the feelings developing between Keagan and Holly were written.
When Holly McGrath walked into prison, she had a career, a mother, and a fiancé. Now she’s out, and she has nothing but her courage and no one but the friends she made in prison. This ex-con plans to focus on the one thing she can recover—her nursing license. There will be no distractions, especially a gruff, handsome cowboy. Keagan’s hazel eyes see too much of the fear and need she keeps hidden from the world, and his touch makes her long to take shelter in his strong arms.
Keagan McKinley came to M-and-M Ranch to turn a failed Colorado cattle operation into a thriving horse breeding and boarding facility. He grew up as the quiet middle brother in his brash, successful family, so this is his chance to step out and prove his worth. There’ll be no diversions—at least until he meets a gorgeous blonde ex-con with wounded green eyes. She’s as skittish as a mistreated filly, but he’s just the man to teach her to trust again … if she’ll let him get close enough.
Sometimes, love is found in another pair of eyes. Sometimes, it’s buried deep inside a guarded soul.

The second book in the Second Chances Series is another absolutely great read! I am loving this series and the women and men found in these books!

Holly McGrath has just gotten out of prison and is pretty sure her "fiance" Matt has moved on in the two years she was gone. With Mickey's help she is able to find a place to stay out at the ranch and is ready to get her nursing license and move on from Matt and Carla, her "friend".

Keagan McKinley has never believed in love at first sight or any of those feelings his brother Kerrick felt towards Mickey but all of that changes the moment he meets Holly.

Holly and Keagan must discover if what they feel is real and if Holly can move on from the past and be happy with what she is given and not what she has lost.

I love Holly and I can't imagine the range of emotions she went through with going to prison and with what she lost with her mom. Yet, beneath it all she is strong and must focus on the positives in order to be happy with her life. I love the friendship that she and Mickey have and how they are really able to support each other with everything they have gone through.

Keagan is another awesome brother. These boys rock and I love learning more about them and their families. I love the support he provides Holly and how he is there for her in any way he can.

I can't wait for the next book in this series!

Holly has a story to tell and to figure out what she was going to do with the rest of her life. she was now an ex con.. And then Keagan showed up. From day one he knew she would be difficult to ignore, but ignoring her wasn't in the cards. They both would soon find out they were either going to be together or apart.... I loved getting to know Holly and learn her story about how she ended up where she was and her past. She is such a lively character with so much to say. Keagan brought out something in her that she didn't know was there. I enjoyed the playfulness of them both. Not only with each other, but with the other characters within the book........... the gest of this story is ....

>Book Review – Set Aside –

>I am an independent reviewer. This book is the second in the Second Chance series and ends in an HEA.

>The M and M ranch is the setting for another great book in the Second Chance series. This time, Holly is out of prison and brought to the ranch to start over by her former cell mate, Mickey. There are plenty of men at the ranch, and it doesn't take long for Keagan to fall for Holly. He fights the attraction at first, but ends up being the alpha protector Holly needs.

>This story has a bit of a mystery, just as the first book did. Holly's ex, Matt, was one of the slimier characters I've read in a while. How Holly ever found herself in a relationship with that idiot is a mystery.

>The side story of Holly's volunteer work at the hospice was unique. Those parts of the story could have been depressing and really brought the story down, but they actually did the opposite. When Holly was at the hospice, the story was bright and full of hope and love.

>This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I love all these characters me cannot wait to read about the next brother to take the fall. I especially want to read about Killian.

> I am giving this book 5 stars.

Another amazing book by Kelly Collins, every day i'm more in love of the Mckinley family. This book was so profound, so sweet and real. Holly was an amazing character, she is strong, and sweet, and so full of life, she is really a great woman.
And then we have Keagan McKinley, he is the most gentleman cowboy I have ever read about, he is so romantic inside, so sweet and he care so much for Holly's happiness.

In this book, I hated Matt and Carla so much, they are really selfish people, It was so awful what they did to Holly.

The McKinley boys shine really bright in this book, and now we have another addition tho the family, Cole, another irish boy.

I loved to learn more about Killian tastes in the bedroom too!!!

Keep going Kelly!!! this series is amazing, and sweet!!

This book was given to me for an honest review.

Another great book in the series, Mickey opens up her ranch for Holly who has just been released from jail and wants to get her life back in order. Holly was a nurse before being sent to jail for trying to help her mother, once out she meets one of Kerrick's brothers who is a shy sweet guy wanting to help her.
She is a strong independent woman who is trying to escape her previous boyfriend and what he has done to her, Keagan wants to show her she can have a happy life no matter what she does, although they butt heads on a few occassions you can see just how much they really do love each other.
Can't wait for the next installment in the wonderful series, what's not to love, cowboys, horses and strong family ties.

I received this book free from Amazon and I am voluntarily writing an honest review. Holly is just released from serving 2 years in prison for buying marijuana for her terminally ill cancer stricken mother. She has lost her nursing license due to a felony conviction, her fiancé and best friend are now together and living her old life. She met a woman in prison who owns a ranch and has moved to the ranch to start a new life. That is where she meets Keagan who does not have time for distractions like Holly. He wants to devote his time to his horse breeding ranch but thoughts of Holly keep getting him off track.

When Holly is released from prison, she moves to Mickey's ranch while she tries to get her life back together. This is where she meets Keagan,..a mean-talking jerk who hates Holly. At least that is what Holly thinks but he's trying to hide how he really feels, especially from himself.

When Keagan finally decides to go after what he really wants (Holly), he will have to help her let go of the past before they can have a future. After all the betrayal Holly has experienced from the people closest to her, will she be able to trust again? Read the book to see if Keagan and Holly can have the future they want together?

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this novel, and I have to say I loved it. The story picks up at the end of Set Free when Holly is released from prison, and focuses on her relationship with Keagan, as well as how she builds a new life once released. There's humour, and of course hot bedroom scenes all rolled into a beautifully written tale of two people finding love, as well meeting old friends with mentions of Mickey and Kerrick, and the other brothers. Thanks for sharing these stories with your readers Kelly Collins, I can't wait for Book 3 to be released.

I am loving the McKinley men and the ladies of Cell Block C. I'm at a loss for words to explain just how much I enjoyed reading this. Once I got started I didn't want to stop for pesky interruptions like sleep and food and the day job. Holly is so sweet and compassionate, but self-conscious of her true worth. Her heart's bigger than the whole M and M ranch. Keagan's about the girly-est alpha hero I've ever read. The Hallmark Channel? Really? But that just makes him more romantic and willing to take a chance on what could be love at first sight.

You cant always judge a book by the cover.

This book is about a woman who was wronged by two of the people in her life she was close to. And as a result she did two years in prison. She meet real friends in prison. There she met Micky. So after her time she went to start over a new life away from those she was hurt by. She doesn't know the depth of exactly was was done until... Well you just have to read it and find out.

Second Chance Series Book 2 and a standalone novel.

What a great series. I loved the banter between the love interests, Holly and Keagan. Two people, one hurt by knocks of life and one who feels they have to prove their worth. Both are looking for something to fill the void only they didn’t realise it until they found each other. This author knows how to write a tale and keep you glued to the book.

A passionate, heart warming tale of love, friendship and trust.

I'm in love with this series. We have sexy hot cowboys and the women they love. Who could ask for more? Great characters, sweet romance, and super hot sex: a great combination.

My only problem is a couple areas where the author mis-used your and you're. This is a pet peeve of mine, but it didn't make me love the story any less.

Good people, Bad Circumstances

Holly and Keagan have both been burned in the past and both left with scars. While Holly is willing to take a risk with Keagan, he's insisting on reinforcing his walls. Holly is too wonderful a person, and she gets under his skin without even trying. Together, the two help each other heal and find love and happiness.
