Christa Gail Pike, born 10 March 1976, currently sits on Tennessee’s death row for the murder of Colleen Slemmer, 19, on 12 January 1995. The murder occurred when Pike was 18 years old. Pike and her then-boyfriend Tadaryl Shipp who was 17 at the time of the murder were convicted of Slemmer’s murder and conspiracy to commit murder. Another friend of the defendants and the victim, Shadolla Peterson, also 18 at the time, was convicted as an accessory after the fact and given six years’ probation after turning informant. Pike was sentenced to death by electrocution in 1996 and, at the time, she had the distinction of being the youngest woman ever to be sentenced to death, in any state and only the second women given the death penalty in Tennessee.
Read in 10 minutes!! What is the point of this book? Very disappointing read don't waste your money on it. Shame on the author for describing this as a book!
This case is very interesting, but I feel like this book was just copied and pasted from Wikipedia. Only, the writing on Wikipedia is way better. If I had not already understood the case, the writing would have made, following this case, kind of confusing. Two star rating is generous.
** I know my punctuation, grammar, and writing is not perfect. So, please refrain from criticizing me about complaining of such things. Just read the book and you’ll understand why.**
A comprehensive and concise writing about the crimes of Christa Pike. However, the author offers no new insight to the crime. The book is limited to research from newspaper articles and court filings. There are no interviews or investigations done by the author.
Well written expose on young thug - a girl gone bad.
Well written look into the mentality of a young woman without remorse, cold and calculating, brutal in carryng out the killing out of her acquaintance. Recommended.
But to the point. Something to read to see if your interested before you buy the book about pike that details the crime. I wouldn't buy this book if you want the whole in-depth story.
Quick read about a quirky girl. It amazes me how and why people murder other people. Thank God she is off the streets where she cannot harm anyone else.
