Untamed Love

Rate this book

The one you can't resist…

A winning bid at a silent auction gets Mella Davis more than just complimentary services from landscape architect Victor Raphael. It sparks an instantaneous attraction to the brooding bachelor that takes her completely by surprise. Stern and tightly wound on the surface, irresistibly masculine underneath, he's a challenge to her single-and-loving-it status—and to the heart she's learned to protect. And still, she can't help giving in.

Ever since love burned him in the past, nothing has cracked Victor's calm control. Then he glimpses carefree, vivacious Mella at a Miami charity event. Uninhibited days and sensual nights follow as she brings warmth and desire back to his world, until doubt wrenches them apart. Opposites attract, but can they also overcome their differences…and sow the seeds to thrilling and lasting love?

Its like everyone in this book had several issues. The two ppl that were just mashed together really should have met in counseling. That would have made this far more believable. I gave it 3 stars because the romantic in me wants to believe that love can flourish even in unlikely odds but its more like 2 and 1/2 stars honestly. Nothing about these ppl is authentic.

Once again we have connecting characters from one story to the next which is great. Mella Davis and Victor Raphael are friends to Nichelle Wrght-Diallo, and the Diallo family. Both have been left scared and have issues. The story started out with a bang but slowly went down hill, the ending seemed rushed. I hope her next book doesn't miss the mark.

The one you can't resist… A winning bid at a silent auction gets Michaela ‘Mella’ Davis more than just complimentary services from landscape architect Victor Raphael. It sparks an instantaneous attraction to the brooding bachelor that takes her completely by surprise. This book was entertaining and fun throughout

Mella Davis is a beautifully unconventional heroine. She's more used to casual encounters than romantic relationships and is in no rush to find a man to protect her and call her his own. She has a healthy fear of intimacy in this respect--that is until she meets Victor Raphael. He unintentionally brings her under a spell which starts their journey and causes her to want to break the shell he has over his sexy exterior. Their relationship is fun and the reader gets a great chance to get to know Victor just as Mella does. I loved the side characters and how they support their friends, the novel's main couple. Seeing their romantic journey and its complications is part of the fun reading this novel, especially considering its ending.

This was a quick fun read, with a twist--the romantic interests are unrealistic African American characters instead of the usual unrealistic white characters. Both Victor and Mella are fabulous looking successful business owners, charitably minded, who have lost family members to tragic accidents. He cooks and drinks gingerale alone at the bar. She rides a motorcycle and goes clubbing.

The writing is highly descriptive, often veering off into overwrought: "She was a burst of color in his kitchen, sunlight pouring through the floor to ceiling windows to worship her skin and starburst hair."

Lindsay Evans is an underated writer, and I'm not sure why she isn't on the best-seller's list.

So Mella is a sexy business woman, meets Victor - moody, broody, sexy dude at an auction. Sparks fly and they get together - however each have secrets or sometime in their past which could either make or break them.

I found their secrets too complimentary and similar but as I said it's still made good reading. I guess it's about forgiveness and Lindsay Evans shows she has a kind heart to tackle that kind of subplot.

Personally I thought it was too short a book to tackle 'hit & run' accidents but I can see her point. She is about showing all points of views, of those involved in horrible accidents.

Though I wasn't convinced about the subplot and how it ended regarding her cousin Shaun and Victor and 'hit & runs' - maybe if it were a longer Lindsay Evans could developed it more. Also the ending was hanging even though it was an epilogue so I guess there may be a plan in the works to make this a series.

Overall good writing, good sexy main plot - if you have strong view on hit and runs read it carefully as it may trigger.

Victor Raphael keeps a calm, slmodt rigid control after he was burned by love in the past. Mella Davis lost her parents st an esrly age, but still has a zest for life.
They are opposites yet they have an intense attraction to each other, if they can overcome their differences and doubts.

"It's refreshing to see the reversal of roles in this novel, with the woman being content with a casual affair and the man looking for something more. The story was unique and flowed well, with a great supporting cast of characters" (RT Book Reviews, 4 stars).
