डॉ. नीतू मांडके यांच्या पत्नी डॉ. अलका मांडके यांनी त्यांच्या पतीसमवेत अनुभवलेल्या सहजीवनाची ही काहाणी आहे. डॉ. मांडके हे हृदयरोगतज्ज्ञ म्हणून साऱ्या महाराष्ट्राला परिचित होते. त्यांचं शल्यकौशल्य, कामाचा झपाटा, पेशंटविषयी आस्था, समाजहिताची आच, कामाप्रती निष्ठा आणि तळमळ हे डॉ. अलका मांडके यांनी जवळून अनुभवलं होतं. डॉ. मांडके यांचं हे रूप पुस्तकातून समोर येतं. एक डॉक्टर आणि एक माणूस म्हणून त्यांचं दर्शन त्यातून होतं अनेक नामवंतांवर त्यांनी उपचार केले; मात्र सामान्यांसाठीही ते कायम झटले. हृदयरोगासंबंधी त्यांनी जागृती केली. सामन्यांवर, गरिबांवर उपचार करण्यासाठी एक हॉस्पिटल बांधायचं त्यांचं स्वप्न होत. त्यांचा पश्चात डॉ. अलका मांडके यांनी ते साकारलं.

I found this book extremely moving. The writing style is simple and touching. Dr. Alka has written an honest account, and her truthful rendition of the persona that Dr. Nitu Mandke was is believable and candid.
Anyone who reads the books, and reads between the lines, will realize that Dr. Alka is the real foil to Dr. Nitu. She emerges as the real hero in the saga, with her quiet strength.
I love this book and it is always on my shelf, this one is a book to be read and re read..

Hridysath is one of the books that helped me keep going and achieve new heights till now. This is the story of a man who came from nothing and end up building the best hospital in the Mumbai only through its vision, hard work, never say die attitude. Dr. Nitu came from the middle-class background. His frank nature, his visions, and craziness to chase them no matter what price is something inspire me. Dr. Nitu always tried to set new goals for himself, right from college life. Possibly this skill had taken him to new heights throughout his life journey. Not only this even after achieving the best possible lifestyle and salary he gave up all these things to come back India and serve his fellow countrymen. Even with so many skills and knowledge he faced the difficulty in settling in India. But he never gives up. His ability to stay focused on his goals and work hard in any situation has presented him with many opportunities and he knows how to make the best out of these opportunities. His loyalty to his profession, curiosity to learn, help people & students made him not only a good doctor but also a good human being. Most importantly his people management skills help him to win many hearts not only in India but also in foreign countries. Finally, his ability to push people, asking for help even to rivals without thinking twice and at the same time keep his calm in right situations made him the unique person he is.
Being from a similar background like doctor this book always inspired me to achieve new heights in my life till now. Being the management student, I feel that Dr. Nitu has all the possible skills that one good manager or businessman should have. Possibly this book can explain all these things in the best way possible than me.

A biography of Late Dr Neetu Mandke, well known cardiosurgeon, known to have performed surgery on Late Mr. Balasaheb Thackeray, influences us in many ways. It's narrated with utmost honesty. His struggles, skills and sociability made him one of the supreme surgeons, however he always had his feet on ground. Do read the book.
