I didn’t know her name was Holland.

I didn’t know she was the one pure and good thing I’d capture for my own.

And then I destroyed her.

She carried my child. My hope. My legacy.

This book was okay, from beginning I enjoyed it very much but for me if you are a drug dealer and if people fear you...man you gotta be tough and King seems to be like he has 19 not Holland.
And last 40 pages got me really mad

1 star. If I could, this book would be in the negatives. The 'bad boy,' King, was an absolute moron. It was a mess from the beginning and it just went downhill from there. I could not begin to even tell you how livid I was; pulsing with anger to a freaking book character.

I like smart decisions. And taking a child away from one of its parents for one of the stupidest reasons ever? I have never wanted to punch a book character more in my life. That's not to say I didn't understand the reason. Yes, I wouldn't want someone I love to feel a little regret or ever wonder what if, after a baby. However, with that being said, no dream would ever be more important than my kids. He put her through hell for 3 fucking years, for a dream she didn't want anymore.

Then she forgives him.

Realizes that he could be dead in a airplane crash and she regrets not forgiving him. Give me a fucking break. Trust me, I don't believe I've ever said this in a review, but DO. NOT. READ. THIS. FUCKING. BOOK.

King is into everything that no innocent should be tainted with. Meeting Holland, he is entranced by her innocence as well as her. Knowing Holland is young and a violin prodigy, he wants for her to have the future she deserves, to follow her dreams. King makes a decision that will tear Holland apart, but he doesn't believing it is the right thing to do, he couldn't be more wrong.

I just couldn't fathom King's reasoning. I wanted to like this but feel like it dragged on and I just didn't understand why he thought Holland should forgive him.

The only reason this is three stars and not five is because he f*cking left her! I don't care what his reasons were. I. Don't. Care. He left her and she had to go three years without Juliette so for that I will always hate just a little bit.

This book was just ok. It meandered in places and a lot of the situations seemed ridiculously farfetched. That ending though
Parts of the book were good and I liked most of it. Just not the ending. I feel like most of the 4 and 5 star reviews were given ARC's and I don't trust those opinions.

Mixed feelings on this one.

Where do I start with this one?
Firstly I didn't read any reviews, not like me I know but I quickly glanced and found loads of 5 stars so just started reading.
The prologue nearly ended it for me, I hate it when we're given a prologue which spoils the book because you know what's going to happen, personally I can't understand why authors do this but judging from all the 5* reviews it obviously doesn't bother others as much as it bothers me.
Holland is a nineteen year old violin prodigy, her parents have sacrificed a lot so she can realise her dream of attending Juilliard , she's studied and practiced and not really had time for much else so when her friend Savannah drags her out to a club she's reluctant but dressed and armed with a fake ID's off they go.
King is a drug lord and club owner and while he's had loads of women as soon as he sees Holland dancing he's gone.
This is an insta-love which is not normally my thing also it was hard to picture King as the ruthless drug baron when we see him almost unable to function without Holland.
It was easy to understand Holland, she was literally swept off her feet and King is a hard man to resist.
I had lots of issues with this book, firstly I was confused about Kings age and assumed he was much older.
“He’s so old,” Savannah whispers.
"He’s old enough to be your daddy, Holland.”
"I don’t know how old he is, but . . . you don’t really think he’s that old, do you?”
It turns out after all he's twenty-five so only six years older.
Despite my issues I was sticking with it and then he did what he did and I'm still reading but trying to make sense of what I'm reading and then it ended way too quickly, the ending needed more and I was left with very mixed feeling about this book.
Parts of it I enjoyed, really enjoyed but overall I was left feeling it never really reached its full potential.

This is the first book from this author and I am pleased to say I thoroughly enjoyed it. Emerson Rose has taken me on a rollercoaster ride of emotions and written a compelling story to keep me entertained. There were a few twists to the story that I did not see coming, nice job Ms. Rose. My only complaint (if you can call it a complaint) is that Emerson thought the age difference between the two of six years was so great. That is the age difference between my husband and I so on some level I was able to relate to that part of their relationship.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good romance with an HEA. I look forward to more from this author and wish her much success with this and all future books.

I barely finished this.

I did not care for King's POV. He sounded like a sissy. He was supposed to be this bad-a**. In my opinion he was anything but. Holland was just as annoying. Overuse of the word "mama". Mama this and mama that. I did not understand the insta-connection that Holland and King supposedly had. the beginning was formulaic. Holland goes to a bar with her friends. King sees her dance and can't help himself from coming to her. Holland and King "talk" for two minutes and have sex in his apartment. Supposedly he never brought a woman to his place before...blah, blah. After sex he can't stop thinking about Holland. Holland was a virgin and then bam...wants to give it up to King. I wish there was more of a chase or at least more dialogue between these two so I could feel a connection. Just a lot inner dialogue/babble.

This is my opinion. You may love it.

Okay I could be cruel and rate this 1STAR but because I pushed myself into reading it after rolling my eyes at how annoying I was at Holland that it deserved 4STARS.

The making up of how King was actually brought this book to where it is. Despite me not liking Holland throughout the book as I think she was too immature where she's not supposed to but she was.

I love the other characters Savannah especially cause it did make me laugh and cringe at times but overall not much happened with King's badass life and I wished it did. However you'll love and be drawn to some parts of the story.

BULLSHIT. A mothers love is just something you don't mess with and the fact the man she loved, kidnapped her daughter for three fucking years is beyond retarded. If this happened to me, I would of stuck a bullet between his eyes. There is no forgiving that ever and this book is in lala land so much, it sucks. If I could of give it a negative star, I would have. What a waste of time reading it.

it's an okay book. I got bored with it very quickly and I hated when king did what he did. It was selfish and cruel, if it was me I would sue him or call the cops on him. She should have told the cops what he did to her and whats his job. Not go to school and act as if nothing happened. She gave up quickly and easily.

Maybe it's because I'm a mother, but as soon as the three year separation happened and the reasons behind it were explained, it ruined the whole book....which was a shame because I liked the first half.

But three fucking years??!!! And then leaving less than 10% left to make everything okay?

Yeah....no.

This is a tough one to rate. My rating has to go more along the lines of enjoyment and satisfaction of the story... so I lean more towards a 2-3 for this book (it was "ok" to "liked it" based on the Goodreads rating scale).

What I liked:
I really liked her friend, Savannah! She was great and I didn't realize how much she added to the story until she wasn't there for the last half of the book. I liked her dad when they had those few moments together. Otherwise, he was a pretty negligent and absentee dad, but I would have liked to see more of them together. The story definitely pulled emotions from me. For the last half of the book I had a lump in my throat. There's a twist in the book that I thought was great. It's very instalove, but I did like when King was with Holland and how she became his world. The focus was so heavy on that side of King, that I never really saw the "bad" side with his role in the drug world, and consequently couldn't understand his later decision.

What made it complicated for me:
Obviously you're not supposed to like Holland's mother and how she's projecting her dreams on her daughter. (What happened to the mother towards the end anyway??) No one ever asked Holland what she wanted - even until the end of the book from I could tell. So when it's all done, King was just as bad as her mother by never letting Holland decide. Except he's worst and unfortunately his longterm plan didn't make sense.

This was a book where I went into it really excited and wanting to like it. There were many pieces of it I liked, but by the end my frustrations outweighed them and consequently I did not enjoy the story.

I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review.

Rarely have I gone from enjoying a book to hating it as quick as I did with KB. I mean sure, there were some eyebrow raising moments, but I mostly loved it until the last 30%, which is where I started screaming "FUCK THIS BOOK!" and never stopped.

*deep breaths* So, this book introduces us to Holland, a 19-year-old, virgin, sheltered musical prodigy who has dreams of being apart of the New York Philharmonic. She and her friends Savannah & Mika go out to party the summer before her first semester at Julliard, which is where she meets King Romero, 25-year-old club owner, billionaire....and drug lord. What ensues is a whirlwind romance complete with unprotected sex, threats against Holland's life and, since the title gives it away, a baby.

I actually thought the whole baby thing was nicely handled, despite the shenanigans of a Holland's crazy ass momma and shotgun-happy (but hilarious) best friend Savannah. The shit hits the fan when Romero loses is motherfucking goddamn mind. *cue giant spoiler*

description

WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?!!!? What is wrong with you, Romero? I mean, I knew you were a controlling asshole but this takes the fucking cake! You were dipping into your product, weren't you? You got your hands on some bad coke and it caused major brain damage, right? You can tell me. No judgment here.

So, that was the last 30% of KB. Him doing what he did and Holland was in a state of super tears and depression until There's some angry confrontations and some "Fuck You"s from Holland but she eventually forgives him. Like an idiot. A spineless, pathetic idiot. In the epilogue, they're laid up in Puerto Rico (I think; I was pretty much skimming at that point) and he's straddling her with a glass of cloudy water. Guess what's in it? Three months of birth control, because he just fucking decided they're having another baby without her consent like the controlling, psychotic fucking asshole he is and I would kill him before I had another baby with him after what he did that was so unforgivable and omg just fucking die already you monster.

I had so much love for him throughout most of this book but now he is Satan incarnate and I am done-with him and her.

How, oh how did I find this in the middle of the night??? Was I sucked in by the tattoos?

It was crap! WTF mate?! He stole her baby, which you find out on page one, and it just goes down hill from there. Main chick, Holland, falls head over arse in love with King, major drug dealer --> oops, they make a baby. To save Holland's life and future career he kidnaps their newborn!!!!

5 Star Review of King's Baby - A Bad Boy Romance by Emerson Rose

King’s Baby is a gritty romance, written by an author who is obviously not afraid to take controversial issues and make them her own. This was an extremely well written book and I look forward to reading more from Emerson Rose.

King wants out, but it isn’t so simple a decision. He has inherited the Romero drug empire and all that entails and trying to leave this life, will put him and those he cares about in danger.

Enter Holland, a 19 year old innocent, a violinist.

Emerson Rose is the pen name of an author I am familiar with. As with her other books King’s Baby was full of emotion, heartache, shocks and surprises. Just when you think nothing will shock you, you turn the page and wham!

I laughed, I cried, I screamed and I shook my head. It’s that kind of a book. Things change dramatically from one moment to the next and there were moments when I felt simply gob smacked.

Their chemistry is electrifying, but will it be enough? You need to read this book to find out.

Well done Emerson Rose, you have a winner on your hands. I highly recommend this book and suggest you add it to your TBR ASAP.

I Received This Book For Free To Give My True & HONEST REVIEW
This is the first time I've read any of Emerson Rose's Books &
Emerson enticed & pulled me into King's & Holland's story within the first few pages

EMOTIONAL
Omg I couldn't put this novel day with the emotions of the instant attractions between Holland King pulls you into their lives straight away but that only can last couple of days until it's pulled apart well until what some could be say the happiest or must devastating news, but between these 2 it's ecstatic and changes their lives, for the extreme happiness for several months and then King practically slowly starts killing our at least what feels like killing Holland and I'll warn you now if you don't want to cry this isn't one for you no matter how great it is but I was ABSOLUTELY in tears and used a whole pack of Kleenex, which did last a couple of years but it gets Holland where she did I've have dreams and where King wanted her to be. Eventually her happiness comes back into their lived until it's fulfilled to where it's MEANT to be from day 1 of their joining

I'm not sure if I have ever read a book that made me this angry. King made the dumbest decision ever. And for me sorry there is absolutely no coming back from that. I stuck with the book because I was curious how it would all play out. But when King took their child and had the nerve to stay gone for 3 yrs set me off people. The only ending I wanted was for mother and daughter to be back together. And his reason for doing are you freaking serious right now. Because he wanted her to follow her music dreams. I don't think I have ever been this angry. What he did was kidnapping and there is no other word for it. And what the hell happened to her mom, dad, and the best friend? All over sudden they're never heard from again. And that ending what a freaking joke. I do not and will not suggest this as a read. Just writing this review has me super hot!!

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I'm not a huge fan of New Adult romance but I am very impressed with Ms. Rose's depiction of King and Holland, especially Holland, a nineteen year old violinist prodigy. The steady development of their relationship was refreshing. It was not totally predictable. I didn't get frustrated with any of the characters. I enjoyed this story

4.5 stars! Loved it! I can't believe I took so long to read this book and fall in love with King! My heart broke, swooned and I laughed. Juliette was adorable and I don't want to spoil it for those who haven't read it, BUT I would have liked more grovelling from King. Other than that, everything was perfect!

I have mixed emotions about this book. Holland was a naive 19 year old and King was a 25 year old worldly drug lord. The premise was interesting to me. King meets Holland at his club he owns. He thinks she's at least 21 because she's at his club but he doesn't know that she used a fake id to go with her friends to the club. King and Holland fall in love after being together 2 days though. Not sure that's possible. She loses her virginity to him the night they meet at the club without even telling him she's a virgin and she thinks she can't get pregnant because she has endometriosis (sp?) so they have sex for two days without protection. Duh. Hence the name of the book King's Baby.

Her parents have their mind set that she will go to Julliard as she is an amazing violinist. Actually, it's more her mother's dream than it is Holland's. Holland breaks up with King after she finds out he's a drug dealer and a month or so goes by and she finds out she's pregnant. Holland's mother tries to blackmail King into persuading Holland to have an abortion so she can go to Julliard. Instead he confronts Holland about the pregnancy, young age, etc. He then realizes she was a virgin and never told him. I find it weird they never had an actual discussion about her being a virgin though. End of story. It was just something he realized weeks after they got together and pushed it to the back of his head I guess. They reconcile and Holland ends up moving in with King during the pregnancy and their love grows and you think it's going to be HEA.

He wants to get out of the drug business for her and the baby except he can't because it's too risky and dangerous. He is certain his family will be a target. King doesn't want Holland to give up Julliard so he decides to leave with their 2 month old little girl so Holland will pursue Julliard since she won't have any interruptions or obligations. Honestly, this part of the book made me angry. How could he say that he loved her if he basically kidnapped the baby and ran away from her. Three long years go by before Holland sees her baby again. I won't spoil how everything pans out. I found myself not liking King because he kept their daughter from Holland for three years.
