I enjoyed this memoir very much. I have always loved Alan Cumming, in his acting roles he has such a positive energy, even when he is playing a role which calls for sadness or darkness from him. He has a positivity about him that, after reading this book, I realize was hard won. This book may not be full of happy moments, but it is very real and there is happiness there, in the man and in his work. It is a real and true and honest story and I think, Alan is himself a testament to the fact that in order to embody and appreciate joy you must first know what it is like to hurt.

Wonderful book, wonderful actor, and I love it when they narrate their own books. You get a real feel for the words you don't get any other way.
