Rumiko Takahashi is one of the wealthiest women in Japan. The manga she creates (and its anime adaptations) are very popular in the United States and Europe where they have been released as both manga and anime in English translation. Her works are relatively famous worldwide, and many of her series were some of the forerunners of early English language manga to be released in the nineties. Takahashi is also the best selling female comics artist in history; well over 100 million copies of her various works have been sold.
Though she was said to occasionally doodle in the margins of her papers while attending Niigata Chūō High School, Takahashi's interest in manga did not come until later. During her college years, she enrolled in Gekiga Sonjuku, a manga school founded by Kazuo Koike, mangaka of Crying Freeman and Lone Wolf and Cub. Under his guidance Rumiko Takahashi began to publish her first doujinshi creations in 1975, such as Bye-Bye Road and Star of Futile Dust. Kozue Koike often urged his students to create well-thought out, interesting characters, and this influence would greatly impact Rumiko Takahashi's works throughout her career.
Career and major works:
Takahashi's professional career began in 1978. Her first published story was Those Selfish Aliens, a comedic science fiction story. During the same year, she published Time Warp Trouble, Shake Your Buddha, and the Golden Gods of Poverty in Shōnen Sunday, which would remain the home to most of her major works for the next twenty years. Later that year, Rumiko attempted her first full-length series, Urusei Yatsura. Though it had a rocky start due to publishing difficulties, Urusei Yatsura would become one of the most beloved anime and manga comedies in Japan.
In 1980, Rumiko Takahashi found her niche and began to publish with regularity. At this time she started her second major series, Maison Ikkoku, in Big Comic Spirits. Written for an older audience, Maison Ikkoku is often considered to be one of the all-time best romance manga. Takahashi managed to work on Maison Ikkoku on and off simultaneously with Urusei Yatsura. She concluded both series in 1987, with Urusei Yatsura ending at 34 volumes, and Maison Ikkoku being 15.
During the 1980s, Takahashi became a prolific writer of short story manga, which is surprising considering the massive lengths of most of her works. Her stories The Laughing Target, Maris the Chojo, and Fire Tripper all were adapted into original video animations (OVAs). In 1984, after the end of Urusei Yatsura and Maison Ikkoku, Takahashi took a different approach to storytelling and began the dark, macabre Mermaid Saga. This series of short segments was published sporadically until 1994, with the final story being Mermaid's Mask. Many fans contend that this work remains unfinished by Takahashi, since the final story does not end on a conclusive note.
Another short work left untouched is One-Pound Gospel, which, like Mermaid Saga, was published erratically. The last story to be drawn was published in 2001, however just recently she wrote one final chapter concluding the series

Es uno de mis tomos favoritos: hablan del punto débil de Ranma y es hilarante y absurdo. Además, sale Cologne, que es la mejor, y Ranma aprende la técnica de las castañas calientes. Es genial todo.

This series is filled to the brim with weird characters, but Mousse might be one of the most absurd of them. His choice of weapon is so bizarre, if I was a "master of hidden weapons" I'd pick cool weapons, or well, just normal weapons. Though I guess the fact that he can use a baby's potty as a weapon is a sign of ressourcefullness, which is a positive personality trait... I guess he's got that going for him.
The whole cat tongue thing was funnier in my memory, than when a read it again. But it's still more fun than the battle figure skating.

En este tomo nuevamente es en el enfoque de peleas y debilidades, en donde Ranma se encuentra expuesto por una debilidad provocata por su padre, que es muy divertida y te da un aire bastante relajado, además de que en este tomo se da el primer y único beso que se muestra de Akane y Ranma y he de decir, que fue de los más lindo ver como Akane es la única que puede controlar a Ranma, además de que muchos personajes me sacaron de quicio en algunos momentos, como Kuno y su interminable juego de querer vencer a Ranma por la mano de Akane y de "su" chica pelirroja,

¡En este tomo pasan muchas cosas! El terror a los gatos, la abuela de Shampoo, la aversión de Ranma al calor por su culpa, el cegato de Mousse... Estoy topándome con varios términos que había estudiado y creo que estoy aprendiendo algo, pero sí, el nivel es demasiado alto para mí. De todos modos quiero seguir leyendo porque creo que aprenderé bastante, y además juraría que nunca acabé de ver el anime... ¿Cómo no me he "spoileado" en todo este tiempo?

So many silly little hijinks cover the path whose ultimate destination, obviously, is those two getting together. And I love every minute of it! 😂😂

Ya que conocí Ranma hace tantos años le tengo un cariño especial a esta historia llena de desvaríos y situaciones “chuscas” (bobas, tontas, o como se le diga en otras partes).
Son situaciones ridículas con personajes fantásticos y desarrollos tintos, sin embargo se me hacen divertidas.
En este tomo aparecen nuevos personajes que vienen a complicar aún más la situación de Ranma y Akane.

Quieren averiguar el punto débil de Ranma y nadie puede creerlo y como es su forma de actuar al llegar a su límite. Por otro lado, Shampoo ha regresado con momentos graciosos acompañada de un peculiar personaje que le hará la vida imposible a Ranma y con un pequeño secreto o diré transformación.

Hasta ahorita es el mismo principio para introducción de nuevos personajes, por lo que la historia es muy repetitiva hasta este momento... pero es divertida y se lee muy rápido.

Como saben Dreamers, esta es un manga que me encanta demasiado y que empece a ver en la tv aunque mi mamá no me dejara por que decía que era contenido para adultos, pero no me importaba yo la veía aunque ella dijera que no, por que es muy divertida, sigo pensando que si quieren algo que los divierta y que los haga reír, Ranma 1/2 es la opción.
En esta ocasión pues les diré que la edición japonesa me lo volvió a hacer, ya que Panini no tiene el mismo orden, así que me releí parte de lo que estaba leyendo en la versión japonesa, pero dije ok pues otra vez, ya que lo bueno que eran pocos capítulos y como les digo me encanta Ranma así que volví a disfrutar como enana esos capítulos que ya había leído.
Como les había dicho la ultima ocasión, vemos a Ranma un poco diferente por algo que Shampoo y su abuela le hacen a parte de que revive un trauma de la infancia que su papá le creo, digamos que aprendemos su punto débil, que deben descubrir por que cuando lo sepan se van a morir de la risa de lo ridículo que es, aunque se que no es correcto burlarte cuando a alguien le da miedo algo o se siente mal, pero en verdad cuando se enteren les parecerá lo más divertido del mundo.
Por otro lado también descubrimos que Shampoo no es tan diferente de Ranma como todos creemos, la vamos conociendo más y nos presentan una parte de su vida donde le pasa lo mismo que a Ranma, ya que también va a las aguas termales a entrenar con su abuela y resulta que igual se cae al agua y resulta que se convierte en gato.
Por otro lado llega un chico nuevo llamado Mousse que se supone que es el legitimo pretendiente de Shampoo, pero por algo que se nos cuenta la abuela ya no lo quiere y para demostrar que es digno se enfrenta a Ranma, pero la abuela hace de las suyas y encanta a Ranma para que no se pueda convertir en hombre y así no pueda pelear con Mousse y así el no pueda dejar de ser el futuro esposo de Shampoo y Ranma va a hacer todo lo posible para poder quitarse el encantamiento, pero la abuela es muchísimo mas astuta.
Es muy divertido ver como la abuela anda de metiche ayudando a Shampoo para que se quede con Ranma y todo lo que hace Ranma para poder quitarse el hechizo, me la pasaba riéndome por todo, simplemente divertidisimo, puedo decir que la abuela de Shampoo se volvió mi personaje favorito y me encanta la historia de Shampoo de como se convierte en gato.
Es que todo en este manga es muy genial, lo andaba leyendo un día que acompañe a mi mamá al centro a comprar unas cosas y mientras iba en el camión mie iba riendo de todo lo que pasa en la historia que una sra se me quedo viendo y mi mamá se intereso por ver que andaba leyendo que me causaba tanta risa.
Muy divertida y recomendable la historia, tanto que ya me ando viendo el anime y como dicen "recordar es volver a vivir" lo disfruto como cuando lo veía por primera vez cuando era niña, muy recomendado y espero que lo lean por que vale muchísimo la pena y les va a hacer pasar un muy buen rato.

I am quite familiar with Ranma's story but this was the first volume I read. It's a riot from start to end. Really that's all you need to know: Ranma 1/2 is really funny and you can't stop reading once you've started.
As for the art, it's great. Rumiko Takahashi has a great grasp of the human form, movement, poses, martial arts, all combined with a very consistent style with lots of character. She can make your attention flow from one panel to the other flawlessly. She is a pro. I did love the fact that it's clearly traditional art. You can see that different pens and brushes were used. It's something you don't find much in modern manga, but it gives the art a lovely human touch without ever looking sloppy or a mistake.
Now, I think you can tell Rumiko is a woman from her art. And that's because there's no male gaze. Ranma's not sexualized by the artist, only by the characters around them. Nudity is present but unapologetic and almost practical. Sometimes people are naked. It happens in a martial arts comedy setting. It's not there to titillate. And BOY, do I appreciate that.
Final note: this was likely translated from an English version, because all the drawn onomatopoeias and written signs in the art are in English, not the original Japanese.

Rumiko Takahashi nos regala de nuevo un montón de risas en este volumen.
Esta compilación de mangas nos introduce dos personajes nuevos que le harán pasar un mal rato a Ranma Saotome. Desde un duelo -de nuevo- por Akane, hasta la búsqueda de una cura para el gracioso padecimiento de Ranma.
En cuanto al dibujo, Rumiko sigue presentándonos un dibujo fluido y muchas veces veloz -en especial en las peleas- de manera muy acertada. Además, hay un par de páginas donde varias de las protagonistas visten kimonos, las cuales destacan por su detallado y bello trazo.
Un número que sigue con el ritmo de entretenimiento y diversión de los anteriores, y que nos deja con la inquietud de como hará Ranma para poder librarse de su presente infortunio.

Primer Cambio con el anime, aquí ya aparece Gosonkugi (que en al anime salía ya muy tarde como Beto Fetiches) y es el quien descubre el punto débil de ranma con los gatos en lugar del mayordomo de los tatewaki.
Aquí reaparece Shampoo como Gato, y con ella la abuela y Mouss.
