The chemistry between Stephen Foster and Nubia Perry is an undeniable fact.
The handsome, dynamic former rugby star is used to getting who he wants with minimal effort, but Nubia’s steadfast refusal to acquiesce – while also making it clear that she’s equally interested in him – is compelling enough to keep his attention firmly planted on her.
Even once it’s clear that Nubia’s polished façade is something she puts on for the public, to hide the scarred, vulnerable woman underneath, Stephen persists. He isn’t intimidated by the model-turned-mogul’s aggressive personality – it only draws him in further.
Relationships aren’t even on Nubia’s radar. She has friends, family, and her steadily growing brand. After a failed engagement to the man she thought she’d build her life with – an athlete, at that – she’s not interested in anything beyond having her physical needs met.
Unavoidable chemistry and close proximity work in tandem to bring these two onto the same wavelength. With the eyes of the world watching, will they deny the obvious, or give in to the inevitable seductions of passion, companionship, and love?
I really loved the first book in this series, so I was dying to pick up book two. I had no idea what this was about and, I have to say, it took me awhile to like Nubia in the beginning. She was pretty closed off and determined to not give Stephen a chance, even though they had insane chemistry and he was so into her. I did warm up to her after a bit, but only after the story picked up. The plot in the beginning was a bit lacking because I felt like we were waiting for something to happen, which we were.
This book quickly became emotional and I really loved Stephen's character and how much he liked Nubia and wanted to be with her. When he discovered her secret, he was adorable. This was definitely an emotional one, so be prepared!
I have said it before.... and I'm saying it again Christina Jones is slaying the romance game right now.... she is the MVP...the POTY...and the AAP.... sports fans get it, but for those others just know it means she's killing all opponents... this story her fans were drooling to get, knowing that Step and Nubia aka "BOMBON" would set our kindles and ipads to flame and boyyyy did they not disappoint... but Chrissy Jones took it one step further... she took a sensitive subject and most often hurtful and damaging subject and gave it It's Sexy Back!!! if you know any BC survivor please share this book with them.... but also simply share it because once again we have a Masterpiece!!
Stephen a former Rugby Player turned Financial Planner and Nubia a former model turned TV personality and Mogul had been playing this back and forth game for years. Steph was intrigued, mesmerized, enchanted by Nubia and he wouldn't stop until he "experienced" her. Nubia was here for the fantasy and really had no plans to give in. That is until a trip to Buenos Aires changed her idea of who he was. Seeing him in his element... free and the fact that he shared it with her was huge. These two were fireworks 🎆 🎇 together and I was so glad when they gave into their connection. Steph encouraged Nubia to give him the raw unfiltered version of herself. Nubia was terrified because of past experience, but she allowed Steph to tear down the walls she built. I thought it was going to be smooth sailing, but when the unthinkable happens and Nubia needs the confident reassuring man Steph has been for her, he has a moment of weakness and their trust is broken. Listen, I completely understood Nubia's stance 😩 but I also felt for Steph. I was so glad when he realized he just had to show and prove in order to rebuild trust. He was there for her at her lowest moments and made sure she was clear he wasn't going anywhere. Lawd 😭😭 I could have easily read 200 more pages about their sweet little family. I wanted some moments with Steph's family. I realize this story is from CCJs back catalog, but I'm gonna need an update please and thanks.
I fckn loved this book. I love Steph so much. He didn’t let Nubia’s cold demeanor get to him. He broke down all her walls. I loved seeing Steph and Nubia fall in love.
If this wasn't a bucket of f***ing great I don't know what is!... I will quickly explain.
Now at first I was like CRAP.... I am not going to click with Nubia because she seems perfect, overly pretty and confident....I was thinking I need something to make her more I don't know real... and I got it... I am thrown by perfect characters I need something to be different (Struggles.. ex: Over weight, life struggles, scars, etc like something) something to make me connect with more. Nubia gave me exactly what I needed, people smile and you never know the struggle that someone is going through... she made a impression... which in turn made me love her character....
Not to say at times she didn't frustrate the hell out of me... I am sure like many other readers I was like "GO AHEAD HUNNY TAKE A CHANCE!" lol but I understood what she was saying completely.
Sigh...Stephen... yep added him to by book boyfriends.. I mean an egg plant? Hell yeah he got added and add on a smart mouth an knowing when to put his foot down... yeah he is pretty... well read the book!
Enjoyed this book very much...I read the first one about Kora and Tarik and enjoyed that book also and I had zero intentions on reading a second book which the main characters from the first book were not front and center. (It's a odd thing with me for some reason smh) nevertheless I am glad that I read this one.
Stephan and Nubia have been playing a game of Cat and Lioness for quite some time now. Nubia is the epitome of her shortened namesake. A "Nubian" Queen. Black, beautiful, successful, selfless and a force to be reckoned with. After an unexpected breakup at the most inopportune time, Nubia is all about taking what she wants, when she wants it, leaving feelings and matters of the heart out of the equation.
That is until Stephan Fosters playful advances turn into more than just flirting and teasing. Nubia isn't as rock solid as she appears and Stephan is able to break down the walls she has built up over time and makes her feel like she can trust him with her fragile heart...So, of course, Stephan does something idiotic to jeopardize everything.
Why do these men, gorgeous, sexy, SMART men always act so DUMB? It baffles me every time. Sometimes, I read these books and see these very realistic, organic and authentic situations unfold and I just say to myself, with my palm to my face. WHY?!
I loved Inevitable Seductions. I feel like Christina went a little deeper with the "baggage" in these two books. For Tariq, Kora, Steph, and Nubia, the stakes were significantly higher for the characters. There were times while reading this book that I was actually afraid of what was going to happen with the characters. Not just as a couple but as individuals. It's super refreshing when an author you read often, throws a little wrench in their style and shakes things up. Nerve racking and stressful as all hell, but refreshing.
One thing I praise Christina on frequently after reading her books is how the relationships between the characters are always so authentic and believable. They're HEALTHY relationships that you can actually stand by and strive for. But what I don't give her enough credit for is the friendships between her female characters. Throughout all of the books I've read by Ms. Jones thus far, there is always a very STRONG presence of female camaraderie and support and I feel like that isn't celebrated or represented enough.
In reality TV, Network TV and in movies, women are always depicted as these catty self-centered beings with no room in their lives for another woman because they always have to ensure that they're the center of attention. And while that is the truth for SOME women, it isn't an accurate representation of the MAJORITY of women in the world. So I LOVE that in every single book that I've read by Christina, all of her strong female leads have equally strong and supportive best friends in their corner. It doesn't always have to be about the Man and Woman in these books. The relationships with homegirls and sisters are just as important if not even MORE so.
So many things I could go on and on about Inevitable Seductions or any of Christina's other books, but I think the most important thing of all is to just READ THEM. You will not only enjoy the characters and their journey, but you will also fall in love with the story and all of the friendships and relationships as well.
CCJ hit me in the feels hard with this one. Here I am thinking I'm reading a really witty sexy story about a cat and mouse chase. Not knowing who was the cat and who was the mouse, when BAM! There was some real serious stuff going on. I absolutely loved both Nubia and Stephen. On to the next Inevitable... Happy reading!
I cried for Nubia and Stephan. Nubia found the one person that was not scared of her and knew how to show that he loved her not by only his words but by his ACTIONS. Steph is a very confident man that came across as cocky at first but he won Nubia's heart. So happy they each found their match and had a happy ending.
As always, CCJ paints a beautifully vivid story for you to fall in love with! Her characters are always so full of life, and their love connection can always be felt. The way CCJ details beautiful black love is simply amazing! And as always, Wesleigh and Jakobi narrated their behinds off!!
I loved loved loved this story!!! Omg!!! I laughed and cried throughout. Stephen and Nubia captured my heart from the very beginning. My heart ached for Nubia but man did Stephen step up in every way possible. Love is truly healing when given in its purest form.
Nubia was such a strong woman and I’m glad she gave in to Stephen the tension was getting too much. This storyline was not what I expected and I’m just glad they got their HEA. I loved we got to see a deeper side of Nubia and why she acted the way she did due to what life thrown at her.
This audio had my lady bits tingling! CCJ always manages to have books filled with both sensual moments and serious/emotional topics that the main characters must face.
Inevitable Seductions follows flirty couple Stephan and Nubia. If you read the first book in this series, Inevitable Conclusions, these two are the best friends of that couple. Ever since Stephan laid eyes on Nubia, he's been trying to convince her to give him a chance. While Nubia is attracted to him, she has her reasons for not wanting to settle into anything long term, given some of her past experiences. However, one night in Stephan's home country (Argentina), changes everything between these two.
I loved these two so much! They both have fun personalities, but are serious about each other. People see Nubia as an ice queen but Stephan sees right through the persona she gives to the media. They brought out the best in each other, and seeing Nubia finally give in to Stephan's advances made me swoon. Especially because after what she'd gone through, she needed someone who was all about her and willing to express their love for her. When it was time for Stephan to grovel, he GROVELED. Their third act break up made so much sense, and seeing them work through their issues was even more satisfying.
Another job well done from CCJ!
TROPES: black romance (heroine is black, hero is Black/Argentinian); OWN voices (author is black); famous heroine (former supermodel, now a business owner and works in TV/production now); famous hero (former rugby player); older characters (both in their mid/late 30s); he falls first; awesome friend group;
Inevitable Seductions is the second book in Christina C Jones’ Inevitable series and this one I was excited for after seeing a glimpse of this couple in the first book! This one delivered on a lot more emotion and I enjoyed it more than the first book.
Nubia is a former model who is now a tv personality and Stephen is a former rugby star. I loved the beginning of the story and seeing Nubia and Stephen spend time together one night while both in Argentina and heat it up on the dance floor together! Nubia is the one who tries to keep him at a distance, she’d much rather be down for a one night stand or no-strings attached situation without involving emotions, but he’s the one who pursues her and wants more! Eventually they do give in and deal with some surprises together.
This one does have heavier themes and complications to their story, but I really loved how it all played out. I always fly through CCJ audios and the narration for this series has been fantastic! I love the friend group the series follows and can’t wait to jump into the 3rd book!
I didn’t expect to love this even more than the first book. I was never a big fan of Nubia’s character. She always came off as a caricature to me. This book showed her vulnerability and it made her seem so relatable. Her reservations about love and relationships endeared her to me. I loved watching her blossom and overcome her fears. Stephen was everything! He was sexy, funny, and strong. I love the way he loved Nubia. The supporting cast of friends and family were so lovable. This book was great from beginning to end.
F*ck cancer! Now the latter part of this book was a tear jerker! The spice was there to keep you entertained and the banter between Nubia and Stephen was cute. Nubia did get on my nerves a bit in the beginning but once I learned why her walls were up I gave her a slight pass. Another good CCJ read.
Love myself a funny man. I think I might be inlove with CCJ's female leads😂. The book was good, writing was great but how I feel about a book weighs in on the rating and i wasn't as giddy and stuff but enjoyed the story none the less which means more CCJ for meeeee
Well, Christina Jones continues to slay the storytelling game. She's back with another hot, intriguing, heart-warming love story - this time it's Steph and Nubia (love the name!).
From the very first line in the book, you know it's gonna be on and poppin' with these two. Steph is coarse and a little crude, but in the best, sexiest way possible. Nubia know she's the sh**, and ain't scared to let you know it. Steph's been after Nubia fro a minute, and she's been enjoying the chase. When she finally gives in, the roller coaster ride begins.
Things develop pretty quickly between these two. Secrets are revealed, and then CCJ throws in a curve ball. Once things sink in, she throws another, and you're left reeling. I went through ALL the emotions. But when things fall apart and Steph bears the blame, I must admit that I felt like Nubia should've shared some of it. I understood how she felt, but she was a little too unyielding. When she asks Steph, 'How could you do this to us?', I actually screamed, 'It wasn't just him!'. Yep, CCJ took me there.
I can't write a review for a CCJ book without saying that her dialogue is always so fresh, current, and very, very real. If I could live in one of her fictional towns, I'd jump at the chance, because the people and places are so cool. Very nice to see cameos by old characters, and get updates on what's happening with them. Also nice to meet lots of new characters, who we'll hopefully be seeing more of (Dr. Porsha and Mari, please and thank you).
Loved, loved, loved this book! Thank you, CCJ, for another excellent story. You da bomb.com!!!
This story had everything: great banter between Nubia and Steph, just the right amount of alpha male and sassy female, and most importantly - A GREAT STORYLINE! At one point I remember thinking; WOW, this is going great for Nubia and Steph and then BAM... Life happened and ish happened.
Did I mention that Steph was know as #ArgentineEggplant
The one thing that I loved about Nubia is that she was really strong - once she decided something, her mind was made up and THAT was a challenge for Steph from beginning to end. Now Steph, he didn't give up, when most of us would have probably thrown in the towel, he fought harder for Nubia!
The takeaway from this story is: Always Fight and Never Give up!
I loved how there was a deeper story within the story itself. I started reading this book thinking it was mainly a love story about Nubia and Steph. When actually it was really about Nubia, her struggles with breast cancer, and how she persevered. How she decided to LIVE again. Allow herself to have the things she always dreamed of, like having a child. She gave up on love because when she needed her ex-fiancé the most through her first cancer diagnosis he left without a second thought.
Nubia herself is literally Black Wonder Woman for real. She went through chemo while building her brand and being in the public eye and no one besides her tight circle had a clue. She was a successful business woman with a growing empire.
I was on the edge of my seat with her and Steph I didn’t know if they were going to make it at first but I loved how he showed her that no matter what, he wasn’t going anywhere and he would see her through her second cancer diagnosis whether she wanted him there or not (Which she did although she couldn’t admit that to him). I’m glad she didn’t let her past with her ex-fiancé stop her from taking a chance on what she really wanted. This book definitely had me all in the feels 😩❤️😭 I definitely recommend!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This was probably a 4.5⭐️ for me!! Nubia is an incredible heroine, and Steph is totally GONE for her from day one🙏🏻 this was sooooo sexy, real emotional, and overall just a fantastic story. I also loved Nubia’s friends & need to see if they all have books!!
I will say a CW for cancer & difficulty w/ pregnancy— I think the way it was handled was really powerful, but it’s a huge part of the story so if that’s a soft spot for ya, I might avoid this one
If I could give this book 10 stars I would. This was definitely my favorite Christina Jones book to date! Top notch writing, multi dimensional characters, off the charts chemistry, it was just awesome. I don't want to spoil the story, so I'll just say this book was full of surprises! Needless to say, I highly recommend this one.
It took me so long to finish this because Nubia was insufferable. She annoyed me the entire book. I definitely thought i would’ve ve enjoyed this one because of how good she was to Kora but yikes. Solid 3/5
3.5. Mrs. Jones told an amazing story and there was such care in how she handled trauma and illness...... but I have some issues..
First, there was an element of superficiality that ran throughout the book. Granted the two main characters were working within the entertainment industry, but it was still missing that C. Jones magic, were she flips gilded industries/ businesses on their side and shows the reality working within them.
Second, I think Stephen wasn’t as multi-dimensional as he could have been. In past Jone’s books, both the hero and heroine get back stories that informed how they make major decisions in the book. Here, when Stephen makes the BIG MISTAKE there was no back story to make sense of why he did what he did. I had to chalk it up as “he made dumb mistake” or “anyone could have made the same mistake” but in the end it seemed like a lost opportunity. By the end of the book I didn’t really know who Stephen was and it felt as though all the space used to introduce his friends and family could have been used to develop his character more.
Third, but not really- I may just be nitpicking- but while visiting Argentina, a main character referred to the Spanish spoken in front of them as a foreign language. It rubbed me the wrong way.
All in all the story was really good and Jones succeeded in making me care for two characters that I really didn’t like that much.
I listened tot his on audio and from the beginning I was really enjoying it! Christina C. Jones writes amazingly authentic characters with great banter and chemistry. And that's exactly what we got here!
One of my most disliked tropes is used in this one (it's a spoiler so I won't say) and I thought that would completely derail my enjoyment of the last half. Surprisingly, it didn't. I liked it enough in the end and I was pretty neutral about how the trope played out.
Overall, this book is very funny and has two characters with very strong personalities and I'm so glad that it shined in the audiobook. I can't wait to read more by this author!
I was so excited for this romance and boy, did it deliver. I loved both Nubia and Stephen's appearances in the first book so I was really interested what Christina C. Jones would do with their story. Honestly, it was cute as fuck and gave me all those mushy feelings. There were ups and downs, people screwed up but through it all their love so palpable. I adored this from front to back. The only thing I kind of disliked was the "too good to be real" ending.
