2 Weird absurd sex magic Stars

Ok I have never read Pamela Palmer before. I seen this book at my local library, and thought to give it a try. I really didn't enjoy this book. Not at all. It was like a weird train wreck that I couldn't look away from. Now I wasn't there when Pamela Palmer thought up this series, but I feel like it went something like this. Palmer decided to write a book series. P.P. read some J.R. Ward books. Thought to herself... "hmm, I love what she did with her heroes names. I think I will do the same.". Then the next day she watched a documentary on sexual cults and thought," perfect I have my book plot.".



This book was low on story development. Almost nonexistent on character development. It just had a bunch of un-sexy sexual rituals that made me feel creeped out. Like I myself was reading a weird sexual cult book. One of those religious cults that have the men calling themselves "prophet" and have everyone having sex for every reason known to man. Throw some blood in there and you have this book. In this book they had sex to ascend, to heal, to rid themselves of bad magic, sex or sex acts for rituals, sex for power, and sex to save a life. Hell, at one point she fucked the hero back to life. It wasn't good sex either. It was creepy sex in front of all the warriors, doggy style, while they held onto her feet and legs. Really... I'm not joking they were just hanging around chilling and holding on to her legs. Our heroine was a orgasm machine. If Lyon (See the JR Ward type name spelling) even licked her finger or kissed her the woman was having multi O's left and right. My eyes almost rolled right out of my head.



The way everything revolved around sexual rituals was just over the top. I mean the heroine gets stabbed 6 times in the gut......sex......has an evil spell casted on her ........sex........has throat cut... twice .......sex.....is bitten and had the life force sucked out of her.... you guessed it sex! The rituals were just so over the top and random. I was just waiting for a scene like this....( I made this up, but for real it could totally be in this book.) Kara(heroine) stubbed her toe. Lyon tells her that to heal her from the horrid toe pain she had to cut her leg two times on the left calf. Then all the men cut themselves too in the same spot. Then they all have to walk backwards around her 4 times. She then has to have sex with Lyon doing the standing wheelbarrow while the other men pinch her ear. To finish it off Lyon must doing a Chicago Snowstorm. That's how crazy it was.



Overall I didn't care for the book. I found it hard to get into and at times boring as it was just tons of ridiculous sex and blood. I don't think I will be reading any more in this series and I'm really not sure I want to read any more books from this author.

Lyon:



I tried to hold my sh*t together, I really did, but I couldn't finish this. OMG so frustrating, the main dude is beyond a moron, and I admit the further the story went the more it got on my nerves.

My DNF point was when I got to the scene where the main woman was stabbed and the "doctor" said she's gonna have to have a strong orgasm to make her feel better, penetration is most specifically required.



Say what??? And that's not the first time they somehow magically need sex for everything. I guess I'm lucky I dnf-ed cause there was mentioned about one scene where she gives her power to the guys (she's their mystical battery) but she has to have doggy style sex while doing it and all the dudes need to touch her while she's doing it. Now if this was menage it's a different story but I don't know. In an "ordinary" paranormal it's just weird. To me. Besides, I DNF-ed this, so it shows how much of it I could take.

The Feral warriors were at an impasse. They were the last shifters and their power came from a chosen one, a single female with great power called the radiant. The previous one had died months ago and Lyon was in charge of finding a new one. Their strength had been waning and none of them could shift anymore. They performed a ceremony to get enough power to find the radiant and keep their power so they could defeat evil.

Kara MacAllister, lived in a small town with her sick mother, she taught preschool in the basement of the local church. A few months back everything changed for Kara. She started feeling ill at ease with everything in her life, like she needed something but didn’t know what it was.

When Lyon shows up in her kitchen and takes her away from her home, Kara escapes and goes back to her house where her mother lay dying. Lyon realizes that Kara had no idea that she was Therian or that she was now the radiant and that her mother was human and couldn’t be her real mother. After her mother dies, Kara has no choice but to go with Lyon.

This book was told in dual points of view via solo narration. It was narrated by Rob Shapiro. He is a good narrator with a pleasing voice. His voice is masculine, yet kind of soft and easy to listen to. The story was original and I was a bit surprised at how much I enjoyed it after seeing a few dismal reviews. Maybe this one is better via audiobook, but I did like the story.

I liked the storyline about Kara being a radiant and how the feral shifters had certain ceremonies that were needed to get their powers recharged and how something was happening within their home. They had enemies plotting evil things within the walls of their home. The story was original and interesting. I enjoyed it.

Oh boy. Where to begin?

First of all; this book ain't nothing but some weird rituals that involve sex, sex and lots of sex. And not in a good way. This is just weird! Sex to complete various rituals, sex to save lives, sex to rid of bad magic, sex to cleanse - you get the drift.

This book made me want to cry at how bad this story is, and it made me want to throw my Kindle at something hard. And I love my Kindle. Can't live without it. In short, this book is disturbing. How was this ever published? And by a major publisher no less.

All the talk about killing the main character was just...dumb? And all the back and forth if she was good or bad. It gave me a whiplash. The whole book is like a train wreck. You just cannot turn away! Each scene is more ridiculous than the previous one. I mean, a woman climaxing, multiple times, just from having her skin licked? (Just writing this last sentence makes me laugh.)

And how can a woman, who's been kidnapped, ripped away from her dying mother (who actually conveniently died), thrown into a supernatural world - how can she come to accept everything in just a couple days, and come to "love" everyone? If you fell head over heels in love with a man, and it turned out your boyfriend shapeshifted into a lion - you would not be ok with it. You'd freak out! Oh and if he started to shift while you were going at it? You'd die. From shock.

I nearly forgot to mention that the main characters have sex in front of other men, while these men hold her legs - to make her ascend! This just reminds me of the Buffy episode where the Mayor ascends and wants to eat everyone, and ends up burning down the school. Yeah.

It's just one bad thing after another in this book. It goes from bad to worse with each new page. Unless you're really curious as to how bad it can get, don't read it. I for one, will not be reading the rest of the series.

If I had finished Desire Untamed by Pamela Palmer, I would have given it one of the lowest grades for a book this year. I can understand how some authors are tying to ride on the coat tails of Christine Feehan or J.R. Ward, but this book that tried to channel these well know authors, reads like bad fan fiction.

Give me a TigHE… VHyper… PaentHer… ZapHene… Foxx and Wulfe.

Oh, and how could I forget the half woman, half flamingo chef they have called Pinky?

The heroine Kara, who has a normal sounding name, is a Radiant that all the men with animalistic names must have! The Radiant is some sort of power source. Kara is sweet and innocent and a small town preschool teacher with a sick mother, who is not her mother. Kara has been lied to her whole life. The hero Lyon of no “H” in his name claims the Radiant. Mine! These Ferial warriors are manly and barely hold back their beasts. These men are fierce. The like their sex hard. They all live together in a big mansion hidden in the woods called the Feral House, the home of the Feral Warriors and their Radiant. There are many expensive cars in the driveway. Oh look a Hummer! This is not an eco-friendly book at all.

This is so not a book I would recommend to anybody. Pass.

I confess I somehow enjoyed this train wreck.

Kara has lived all her life without wondering why she never gets sick and why she heals miraculously fast from every injury. Until one day, a man shows up at her house, tries to kidnap her while her mother is dying because she’s his ‘radiant’. According to Lyon the kidnapper, she’s not human but a Therian, and her people need her. After her mother dies and some convenient demons show up to bolster Lyon’s claim, Kara decides to leave the town she’s lived all her life to go to this stranger’s lair, where she finds 8 other big, not very friendly men.

Even though she’s supposedly this very important person in their race, none of them make absolutely any effort to make her feel at home. They know she was brought up human and that she doesn’t have a clue about any of thier rituals, their culture, their lifestyle, etc. but they expect her to acclimate instantaneously to their creepy touching or to the fact that hey! they are shapeshifters. They don't take the time to introduce her to their world slowly, but wait until she discovers things on her own and then are outraged when the poor woman freaks out because of the bird woman housekeeper (don’t ask) or when she learns she’s supposed to tongue kiss 9 men to discover who’s her mate.

Lyon, for all his ‘chiefness’, is pretty clueless. At the beginning of the book, they mistakenly use the wrong knife in a ritual (which could have pretty dire consequences) and he never investigates how that came about or wonder if something’s going on. When Kara starts freaking out for no apparent reason, he just thinks she’s losing it and again, doesn’t investigate even though half his men are acting weird. It takes the poor woman’s repeated insistence that’s something is going on for him to start wondering if indeed that’s the case. He’s 700-years old but he acts like this is his first rodeo, with not a clue about what kinds of weapons his enemies might be using.

I don’t think I’ve ever read about a heroine that got hurt as much as this one in just a few days. She got bitten, stabbed, attacked by demons, terrorized by unseen forces, subjected to painful magic rituals, kidnapped twice, her throat sliced and threatened by those who were supposedly guarding her (I think I forgotten something.) She was also the most orgasmic heroine I’ve read about (and remember that I read erotica). Her first orgasm occurs with Lyon is licking the wounds in her hands (that’s how he heals). She routinely orgasms while he kisses her and when they first make love, she comes around 15 times. Remember that the action in this book occurs in less than a week so this woman was either having an orgasm or getting hurt (emotionally or physically.)

I listened this in audio so I was spared the horrendous spelling of the names. Rob Shapiro, the narrator, has great male voices, just like how I like them. Raw and masculine, he really captured the feral nature of these men. Mr. Shapiro sometimes got a little too dreamy while doing the narrator parts but speeding up the narration really helped. I’m definitely listening more books by him.

Overall, I was either appalled or rolling my eyes at the shenanigans in this book but there was something about it I liked. I already have book number 2 in the wings, so I’ll keep listening while I can get them from the library.

Here's the problem: We have a band of sexy shapeshifters who need to find the one woman who can replenish their energy so they can continue to battle against those who would wish to eliminate them. They finally find her, but she has no idea that she's important and that she's not really human.

What to do, what to do.

Thankfully, the language of sex translates into every language, so really what we need to do is get her all hot and bothered so she'll be more apt to understand the gravity of the situation.

No, really. The logic is infallible.

What really gets me about the book is that it all seems perfectly logical when you're reading it. Did I just say an erotic novel involving men named Lyon and Paenther was logical? I know. I can't fathom it, either, but once you've suspended your disbelief for the duration of the novel, it actually works.

I'm as shocked as you are. A well-written erotic fantasy novel; do go on. What's next, a Danielle Steele book that doesn't involve a young woman having an affair with an older man?

OMG, this book is so ridiculous. It's over the top, melodramatic, aggravating, and falls in line with most of the stereotypes of this genre. I can get behind some melodrama but this one wasn't entertaining enough to suck me in and make me think all that crazy was fun.

I felt incredibly sorry for the heroine despite how uninteresting her character development was. I mean, really, would it have killed anyone to delve into her background and explain why she didn't know her identity and how she ended up with a human pretending to be her mom? But I guess that character development would have taken page time away from more important things like lusting or maybe more lusting.

The poor girl was taken from her home with no real explanation after her mom had just died (literally), then she is shoved into a situation where she's in a house full of men who are touchy-feely to an uncomfortable degree and who are aggressive and creepy at first--and she's expected to be perfectly fine with living with them for the rest of her life and being their 'Radiant'.

Things just go downhill from there. They do some ceremony that's supposed to pick her mate (without explaining to her what it means) and she's expected to kiss all of the men until one of them turns out to be THE ONE. And of course she does because she's an idiot who acts like no rational person ever would. Of course it's okay to kiss multiple guys with tongue after being pressured into wearing a robe that is practically see through, standing on a pedestal in front of everyone wearing said robe, and having the surprise of the kissing game sprung on you at that moment. Of course a normal girl would do it even though the guys have been creepy and she doesn't want any of them except one. Yep. It all makes sense to go along with it. And then after it all goes horribly wrong and one of the guys acts like a PSYCHO and you run, it's totally normal to then feel bad about looking out for yourself and not giving a crap that total strangers--who have done nothing to earn your regard to date--depend on you to ascend (through another f'ed up ritual) after you're dragged back to the house--because you're a prisoner not a member of the team, didn't you know?

Ugh. I'm going to stop. I could rant about this book for pages. I haven't even gotten into the names or the melodramatic dialogue but I'll resist. I'm done wasting my time thinking about this book.

Do I rate a book on quality or subjective enjoyment? And how many stars is crack worth? Because this one? Hoo boy. I enjoyed the crap out of it, for all the wrong reasons and scarfed it up, all while realizing that it is, without question, a, uh, not good book. I settled on a grudging 2-stars.

To enumerate all the problems I had with Desire Untamed would probably take me longer to type out than it took me to read it. It's ridiculous, verges on--and sometimes flat out IS--offensive, horrifying in a not good way, ridiculous, poorly delivered, uneven, and did I mention RIDICULOUS? I laughed out loud at dialogue that, I assume, was not meant for me to laugh at. "Empower the beast of the lion!" SEE? You're totally laughing. I suspect Lyon felt like laughing. Or maybe not, because he felt NOTHING. NOTHING, you hear? HIS SOUL WAS UNTOUCHABLE AND ENCASED IN ICE UNTIL HE MET HIS LITTLE RADIANT. But I digress. What I'm trying to say is that I felt like I was watching a Thundercats knock-off when I read that bit of dialogue.

The whole book is a total ball o' crazy, and just when you think it can't get sillier: FLAMINGO CHEF. Named Pink, because DUH. So cracky.

In good conscience, I can't recommend this to anyone, but I'll probably check out book two to see if this one could be topped on the wacky scale. I do not see how this could happen, but we shall see.

I think this book managed to hit almost all of my pet peeves in romances. The writing style was good, but I just couldn’t get behind most of the characters and a lot of the plot.

Our heroine, Kara, had very little control over anything that happened to her throughout the story. She’s controlled the minute Lyon, the hero, appears. He abducts her from her life and forces her to live with a bunch of his furry friends. Despite him abducting her, Kara is constantly running to Lyon for help and protection. Which happens a lot in the story. Meanwhile, Lyon is debating whether or not he's going to have to kill her for various reasons that pop up. So creepy. Kara is also forced into a relationship she doesn’t want because the magical blue light of doom proclaims that some random guy is her mate. And Lyon is again debating whether or not to kill her because she can't reject her pre-chosen mate for various reasons. Basically, Kara is just one big expendable pawn to the other characters. It was almost painful trying to get through the book with the way she's portrayed and how the others interact with her. It just disturbed me on too many levels.

Desire Untamed is book 1 in the Feral Warriors Series, by Pamela Palmer . This book is weird!! There are super convoluted characters, shifters, mages, Therians, and a witch.

From the beginning of the story, I was lost. Therian’s seeking a Radiance, was strange, and I felt very sorry for Kara, who was NCAA (no clue at all), as to why she was being abducted from her elder mother, (she thought) , who didn’t survive the encounter. I was almost at a point of setting the book aside for this unspeakable behavior.

The plot was very complex, and I thought ultra multifaceted.. When Lyon abducted Kara, his licking skills were over the top. I’d like to have such powerful saliva! Obviously, this skill enhanced the Steamy! factor in this story. It certainly kept Kara happy.

These Therians, being shifters, were warriors protecting humans from the Demons with a whirlwind plot of intrigue and unique fighting skills and customs.

The romance between Kara and Lyon underwent almost catastrophic disruptions, but their commitment to each other resolved their problems.

I’m off to get Obsession Untamed and more about Therians and their Radiance .

One of a kind shifter read

I can't believe I am just now hearing about this series, or this writer for that matter. I'm so glad to have come across this one. Here's my breakdown:

The pros:
* Incredible character depth - I felt as if I knew them all, and early on for that matter
* The storyline was creative and original - which seems to be pretty rare in the paranormal genre
* A fast paced plot and never felt sluggish


The cons:
* I wanted a bit more closure or an epilogue, but I suppose that’s to be expected in a series
* priced a bit on the high side at its current listing of $4.74

Overall, this made for a fun and fast paced paranormal read. I'm looking forward to the next book in this series.

This is a new author for me, and I wasn't sure what to expect.. Turns out I loved this book! I loved the instant attraction between Lyon and Kara, loved the fact that the Pairing doesn't go as planned, and loved the other Feral Warriors, who were all(ok, mostly) verrrrrry hot.. Can't wait to read about the rest of them! I'm going straight to Tighe's story now:-)

I'd say a must read for any warrior brotherhood fans:-) Think Alexis Morgan/Lara Adrian but for shapeshifters:-)

I really liked some parts (hence 3 stars) but not others and ended up raising my eyes wondering what on earth I was reading....I know this is PNR but some bits were bordering on ridiculous. Not sure this series is for me but will carry on and give it a chance.

I have discovered there is a specific in the paranormal romance genre that I like most. It is the group of warriors fighting for the greater good. Thus you have the good versus evil. Add a mate/lover/a significant other that another character cannot live without. I do love the chest pounding mine, mine, mine. Thrown in fighting evil and a major ending battle with a happily ever after. These are always my favorites amongst this genre. There are many ways to make each different series unique though. I like what Palmer has created with this series. She has mixed her series with immortal shifters of various species. The Feral Warriors (Therians) protect the world from the ancient evil that is trapped in the Daemon Blade. These warriors get their power and strength from the Radiant. There is only one, when one dies a new one is called forth and must ascend into this position. The Radiant channels energy and power from the Earth for the warriors use. There is a magical fantasy element within this book.
Kara is the new Radiant. She has lived as a human away from the Therian race her entire life. She has no clue that magical shape shifting beings exist. I loved Kara’s sporadic calm. At the beginning of the whole you must come with me and fulfill your destiny she runs, steals a car and returns home. Then she goes with Lyon willingly. Then she decides she’s not happy with being told this man is your mate and you must be with him and she flees again. I liked how she really was trying to give this a try. She was weary, had full rights to be weary, but she was still willing to go with idea of ascending to the position of Radiant. During the first ritual to get Kara into her Radiant role she is given a mate. Kara immediately knows the wrongness of this. Lyon is the one she has an immense attraction to, not Vhyper, even though Lyon swears the Pairing is NEVER wrong.
Lyon feels this strong attraction to Kara that he denies. She is not meant for him and he does not want to encroach on his fellow warriors mate. Lyon is a good man. He is trying to do the right thing. He knows the importance of his races survival depends of the ascension of the Radiant. As the Chief he knows something is amiss in the Feral House. His warriors are quick tempered and irrational. Kara fears the house to the point that the fear that roles off of her is a tangible thing. As Chief he has to protect Kara, she is in danger, Lyon knows this, he just does not know exactly where the danger is coming from. Lyon gets to the point that he even believes that Kara is the reason for the wrongness of what is going on with the warriors that he has been with for centuries. The action in this book keeps the reader entertained to the point that this book is impossible to put down. Just when you think you have the why’s of it figured out there is another twist in the plot.
I enjoyed this book. I loved the uniqueness to the world that was created for these warriors. I plan to continue reading series. I am very glad that I have more of the series on hand so that I can go right into the next book. I am very eager to see where book 2 picks up. Many conflicts were solved with the close of the first book, but there are still some unresolved issues.

An optomistic 3.5 Stars!

I am a HUGE fan of Shifter PNR, a complete ShifterSlut in fact, stake the vampires in the sun and watch 'em smoulder because for me Shifters are top dog, cat you name it! So I love the idea of the Feral Warriors series, any series about a big sexy band of alpha male shifters is going to get my attention. So I went into this series fully prepared to create brand new shrine, infact I had already bought the requiste candles and got the goat for the live sacrifice *please note no animals were harmed in the making of this review* and although I may be holding off on the goat, I have started to light the candles.

Th Feral Warriors are a group of Shifters who protect the world by slaying he deamons which would otherwise take over and suck teh life out of all living beings. But to do this they need a Radiant a woman who can supply them with the power to shift which without they slowly go mad and die. But the last Radiant has died and now Lyon the chief of the Ferals needs to find their new Radiant and ascend her before the daemons start swarming the Earth.

As I mentined I liked this book it was a decent start to the series, although it wasn't fantastic as I had a few issues with it, I did enjoy it. The set up of it almost reminded me of Black Dagger Brotherhood, only with shifters and frankly not as good, they are all warriors and definitely not tame they all had a hint of the wild in them, which lures me in, I love seeing them tame for their one true mate. And Lyon (guess what he shifts in to?!) I really liked him, he was hot dangerous and literally kiss you in to orgasm! Kara, the new Radiant, I liked her, but unfortunately I think she will fall in to the catergory of heroines who I liked when I was reading her, but will forget very soon afterwards.

Now to the niggles. One of the things that bug me most about some PNRs is the early I-love-yous, sometimes I feel them sometimes I don't. I didn't feel it with this book and it put me off, up until that point I felt their stong attraction there was no doubt about their chemistry which was written fantastically, but suddenly it goes from them wanting to boink like bunnies to her falling in love with him, which I didn't see, I think it would have been better a bit further into the book. I wouldn't say it spoiled the book but I was left thing "huh?" after she had the "realization."

The only other thing that I found with this book is that I mixed up all the other Feral's name and who was who! I think that after I have read the next book it will be straight in my head but you meet all of the ten warriors at once and I was left a little confused about who was who.

However, it had shifters, HOT SEX, more shifters, interesting plot line and oh yeah did I mention SHIFTERS? So I really liked it and I am reading the next one as soon as I have finished lighting the candles in my new Feral Warriors shrine.

I really disliked this book. It had a lot of potential but the execution was terrible. The narrator was okay but the audiobook was a chore to get through.

Kara lived her life as human until a man shows up at her house claiming she is a “radiant” and savior of his race. This man, Lyon, explained that Kara wasn’t really a human but a Therian, a race that protects humans but they are being hunted by demons. The Therians had a group of soldiers called Feral Warriors that protected the race. The feral warriors were shifters but they had to be in close proximity with the radiant in order to shift and have full use of their individual strengths.

There was only one radiant and she was to be mated to one of the warriors. Only through mating the warrior, can the radiant “Ascend” to her full magical powers. The radiant had to kiss and be subjected to ALL 9 of the warriors’ touches before her mate was revealed. It’s a fated mate thing revealed once they are intimately touching. Honestly, the whole act to "Ascend" was so ridiculous. Everything was just steeped in sexual contact that overshadowed the story. It just seemed like Kara was the house chew toy. The warriors treated her poorly, the demons were trying to kill her, and she was just trying to figure out her place in this new world.

I didn’t like that the author never explained why Kara was he chosen to save the race. So much wasn't explained in this book. Why is there only one radiant and there are 9 warriors who need mates. How these warriors lived with a traitor and the whole thing with the doubles. Frankly, the writing was poor, the story wasn’t entertaining, and the nothing made sense. I saw a review comparing this series to BDB, that's just straight up blasphemy. However, the idea of the story has potential, so I will read book 2 to see if there are some explanations. I won't continue after book 2 unless the story is much tighter!

The Feral Warriors is a dark and sexy series; every page will leave you craving for more of these delicious warriors.

The series focused on a group of fine warrior males with troubled pasts that meet and fight for their lady loves, which is not as easy as it sounds. Each novel focuses on a different warrior and their HEA.
To balance out the romance and keep the story entertaining there is suspense and action; with the nine Ferals fighting against Daemons; nasty little evil creatures trying to release the High Daemon, Satanan and take over the world.
Each warrior has their own little gifts and ability to shift into a specific animal and fight the Daemons to protect the humans and the world. If that wasn’t enough, Mages (magick users), who have long been enemies of the Therians, have joined with the Daemons in the war. These creatures worship the Goddess, Mother Earth, and when one of the Mages is killed Mother Earth gets upset, which adds interesting plot twists. How are they to dispatch a threat that will in turn anger the very Earth they are fighting to save? Will the Ferals prevail and make the world safe again or will the Daemons succeed, causing all Hell breaks loose, literally?
Each novel is well written, the relationships between characters is well developed, the group dynamic intriguing and the dialogue between each is entertaining. Bad boy Jag in Rapture Untamed is my favorite so far but I love each warrior and their own feisty heroines that keep them on their toes.

The Feral Warriors is an exciting series and a great read. If you like The Dark (Carpathian) Series, Midnight Breed Series and Jacquelyn Frank's series then I definitely recommend these to try out. Super for all paranormal romance and urban fantasy lovers.

Review:
Absolutely amazing read! The phenomenal story grabs you from the start and won't let go until the very end. On one or two occasions, I even began talking to myself about certain scenes or holding my breath in anticipation. There are several twists in the tale that keep you guessing and a cliffhanger that leaves you wanting more.

The characters are very well developed. Some readers may find the names of the warriors a bit trite but I appreciate the symbolism behind them and the way the names reflect their individual personalities. The romantic leads have a sizzling chemistry and the heroine can definitely stand up for herself in a house full of uber-alpha men. The hero’s backstory provides insight into his emotional distance; it was unfortunate that the heroine’s background is not as clearly delineated. However, as her story is central to the plot arc, this may come in subsequent books.

The writing is well-paced and engrossing. The sex scenes are cleverly merged into the plot and do not have that “tacked on” feel that characterizes some paranormal romance books.

Overall, this is possibly the best first book in a series that I’ve read and is a wonderful introduction to the continuing story. I really can’t wait to read the next one.

Where do I start... The premise was interesting. The plot was as transparent as Casper and it annoyed me that I figured out what was going on (from almost the first 10 pages)when the hero didn't even suspect a smidge of what was going on right in his face. Doesn't think or question or even a teensy weensy niggling doubt or suspicion almost until half way through??(Inconsistent answers to basic questions should ring alarm bells through the roof). He is the leader for crying out loud.


Even if I dismiss the plot(maybe it was meant to be see-through?),I didn't feel the chemistry between Kara and Lyon. I just didn't get it.. First he scares the living daylights out of her then does some magic mumbo jumbo her mother is dying of cancer and actually dies shortly after he appears. He uses his magic/talent to lessen Karas grief and the next second they are all over each other.

Some of their love scenes were good but didn't really grip me.. I just didn't get invested in them at all.. And we are left with some questions unanswered like why she was raised as human and had no idea what she is. And I'm not even going into all the ritual(sex,blood)thing,the silly names and lots more of the same..


On to the next book, not of this series.

Desire Untamed falls in the category of Satanic Horror or Sadistic Sexual Rituals. The story opens with the heroine Kara caring for a dying mother. She is than kidnapped bt Lyon the leader of immortal shape shifters called Feral Warriors. Every Scene after that has Kara being stabbed followed by sex with Lyon; or Kara having her throat cut twice than of to have sex with Lyon. These types of scenes going on and on through out the book. Their is very little story their and no character development,just a lot of Sadistic Sexual Gruesome Rituals!!! I Read A lot probably, have read all of the well know authors that's write Dark Paranormal books, but this was more than dark it was very satanic and I don't like Satanic Horror. I realize other readers might like this genre,but I wish I could have read a review that might have informed me more; before I purchased these books!!! I was very disappointed because the author writes about the Wash. D.C. area I was born and raised their and still live very close to the area, so I really wanted to support this author. SORRY!!!!!

Ok, so I had high expectations to this book but it didn't live up to it.
I read one mess after another and I just couldn't take it anymore.

First of all, I know Lyon manipulated Kara's emotions and such, but who would be so focused on a hot guy with her dead mother right beside her?
That's just wrong!

And how ridiculous it is that everytime he touches her, Kara orgasms?

And can we just talk about how he just manipulated her over and over again and not just her emotions? What the hell? The man opens the door to a world she has never seen before and doesn't even tell her the whole truth.
She is forced to wear a dress that shows her exactly how she came to the world, walk around in front of 9 big ass warriors like that, kiss some of them and, right to the point where I stopped reading they had chosen a mate for her and she had to have sex with him.
Like Kara said, Lyon sold her.

I'm sorry but this romance is just not for me. I don't even consider this a romance. Forcing people is just wrong, not romantic!

Its a series i am going to carry on as there was some real interesting characters and plot line, but i think it suffered first book syndrome.... Trying to get my head around everything that was going on....

Lyon and Kara annoyed me a bit, He wouldn't claim her and she never seemed to have her own voice....

But a happy ending so im calling it 3.5 stars.....

Over the top writing with a too stupid to live Alpha. Lyon actually got on my nerves, but Kara saved the story. I am curious to see where the series goes, and I hope it gets better!

When the Radiant didn't appear to the immortal shape-shifting Therian feral warriors to recharge their power and ascend, they waited. In no shape to fight the warriors desperately perform a ceremony to reveal the Radiant's location and come close to unleashing demons on mankind. Warrior leader, Lyon knew he'd be drawn to find the radiant but had no reason to believe he'd be attracted to her as well.

Kara McAllister was content until a scar mysteriously appeared on her body, her mom was diagnosed as terminally ill and restlessness set in. Kara's definitely unprepared for this big man in her kitchen demanding to see her scar. On their way to Lyon's fellow warriors, he realizes Kara has no knowledge of Therians, let alone being the Radiant. Until she did, the warriors were in danger of remaining feral.

They return to the house and Kara's mom only has time to tell her she isn't really her mother. Moments after Kara's mom dies, dradens attack. Shocked, Kara helps Lyon fight and in the aftermath he explains the impact of her scars but glosses over the ascension details. Though she remained curious, Kara fluctuated between wanting to know and not but remained curious.

Kara's apprehensive about entering the house and afraid to stay when she learns her new housemates are shifters. Lyon rushes the choosing ceremony so Kara isn't overwhelmed by so many rapid changes and to help ease the tension among so many male predators. During the ceremony, Kara's desire to run increased as did her nightmares and the feeling of fear and terror permeating the house.

For my taste the detail of the rapidly paced world building was heavy handed at times in this fairly good story. Kara was more than wallpaper as she did double duty in a meaty role beyond the romance and guiding the reader through the nuances. The draden were rarely seen and the vividly drawn warriors (with oddly spelled names) were well established with great interaction and chemistry.

This is the first in the series by by Pamela Palmer. It is the story of Kara a pre school teacher who is currently taking care of her dying mother. Along comes Lyon a Therian Feral Warrior to retrieve Kara and bring her back to Feral Headquarters. It appears that Kara is the "Radiant". A being that gives the warriors back thier energy that allows them to fight The Mage and the draden who are thier enemies. The problem is, Kara has no idea she is the Radiant, and winds up being kidnapped by Lyon and brought to the Feral compound against her will. Once there, she tries to escape a few times to no avail and fights against these warriors thinking that either they are crazy or she is. The story is a pretty good one. There are some graphic scenes of violence and some of passion. What I found disturbing is the rather fast relationship between Kara and Lyon. It reminded me of the Stockholm Syndrome in a way. He kidnaps her and then she falls in love with him - FAST. It just struck me as kind of weird. Just happened too quickly. I am hoping the next in the series is a bit better. Although I didn't think this book was that bad, I felt parts of it could have been written better.

When you read as much PNR as I do you start to see the same themes occuring all over the place. Vampire warriors with a heart of gold, alpha shifters with control issues, betrayal from within, society structures different from the norm and a first book heroine who knows nothing about the world and so gives the author a chance to explain the world they've created.



This book isn't any different... and you know what - it really didn't matter. For a first book it wasn't bogged down in world building detail, you can feel the different levels of chemistry between all the characters, the storyline was solid enough to hold and the storyline for this book had an actual conclusion but left enough hanging that you can see where the next book is going. Oh, and by way of an interesting plot point towards the end, you realise that there are several characters that you need to get to know.



But more importantly I didn't guess where this was going from the first chapter. And that takes skill.

I typed this whole review but GR totally ate it. I frickin hate this site sometimes.

So, the new review will be simple because I can't remember everything that I typed before. The story was a very interesting opener to the Feral Warriors series. I enjoyed the interaction between the characters and the story held my attention all the way through.

I had a few minor issues with the story though:

(1) Sex was used as a "cure-all" to seemingly everything. At a critical moment in the story, Lyon tells Kara: "Passion and pain...blood and sex." That one line actually sums the book pretty well.

(2) The reader finds out no additional history about Kara's origins. Where she came from? How she came to be with her human mother?...etc. Her origins could be revealed in later stories so I won't cast judgement just yet.

(3) The character names matching their animal form was a bit cliched but Ms. Palmer provided a brief explanation as to why that was the case.

Overall, Desire Untamed was quite an enjoyable read.

Welcome to the world of the Feral Warriors, immortal shifters who defend the world against evil. I must admit I didn't have huge expectations for this series so I kinda liked it. It wasn't the best read I had later but really entertaining. This installment was a good introduction to this new series and one I definitely wanna read more about. I'm not rating this book any higher because many things seemed forced and too weird.

This is a book with lots of background information but not to the point where it becomes excessive. I still would have love to read even more about the plot and this new world we are introduced to. My most significant problem, I guess, was with the main couple. While I liked them I never got crazy about them, something was just missing. I also never got crazy about getting to know more information about the other characters. I liked everything about this series but nothing really blew me away.

I will be reading book 2, just not running to it right away.
