Overcoming Adversity: Adventures In Wheelchair Tennis

Rate this book
This book is about how playing wheelchair tennis can help you get your life back after you suffer a major physical disability. I don't address mental disabilities and I don't go into every type of physical disability. I mainly address what happens after you suffer major physical disabilities in the context of recreational and high level international wheelchair tennis. People end up in wheelchairs for many reasons. That does not mean using a wheelchair will keep you from enjoying life and playing tennis, scuba diving, skiing and numerous other physical activities. My friends who play wheelchair tennis professionally and recreationally are in phenomenal physical shape. They are careful with their diets and work out. The higher world-class athletes have nutritionists and trainers, as well as full-time coaches. Their dedication to tennis is professional. They love their lives and travel the world chasing tennis balls and trophies. It is great fun and you meet some wonderful people who are also in wheelchairs. If you play on the national United States Tennis Association tennis tour, you travel all over the nation to nice weather and enjoy beautiful scenery. This book is also about delivering wheelchairs and teaching tennis to people in poor countries, giving them hope after disability. As a result of playing wheelchair tennis, I have had the opportunity to travel all over the world deliver wheelchairs and helping with sports camps. These experiences in helping some of the poorest people on the planet have been some of the best moments in my life. Tennis isn't just a game, it is the game. I try to play each day and never get bored with it. Tennis is a great way to release tension. Life is hard, play tennis.
