I picked this up book up at a used book sale because I have had read other books by John Martel, The Alternate and Conflict of Interest and really enjoyed. I love a great courtroom book ala Grisham, Turrow, etc. In fact this book Partners is NOT to be confused with Grishams The Partner. Here is the set up.... a very prestigious legal firm in San Francisco is facing financial ruin and the senior partner Austin Barrington will do anything to save it, even murder. While this all sounds exciting.... it wasn't. Because Martel took way to long to get anywhere. The reader understands the firm is in trouble, we get that Barrington is up to no good, we don't need to sit through every legal meeting. Halfway through the book we still are not in the courtroom. The premise was good, but some parts definitely were hard to get through. I kept waiting for something to happen and when it all finally did happen it was very anti climatic and i still have questions. This book is described as a courtroom thriller. I object your honor. two and a half stars.

Good plot, hard to get through some parts, very quick and anti-climactic ending. One recurring event left you hanging and with questions never answered. Kept waiting for something to happen right up until the last couple of pages...but nothing. But all said, I did want to see what finally happened.
