The United States Constitution is about to be dissolved by an internal threat. A conspiracy conceived in the last days of the Third Reich is gaining momentum and putting democracy at risk. For fifty years the tentacles of the Reich's inheritors have been reaching into all branches of the federal government, intelligence and police agencies. Untouchable, all-powerful and experts at mind control and subversion, this dark menace watches as the eleventh hour ticks by. For Mack Bolan, it's a call to arms of the highest magnitude. To stop the unthinkable, the Executioner must go to war with the very entity he is dedicated to the U.S. government.
Don Pendleton was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, December 12, 1927 and died October 23, 1995 in Arizona.
He wrote mystery, action/adventure, science-fiction, crime fiction, suspense, short stories, nonfiction, and was a comic scriptwriter, poet, screenwriter, essayist, and metaphysical scholar. He published more than 125 books in his long career, and his books have been published in more than 25 foreign languages with close to two hundred million copies in print throughout the world.
After producing a number of science-fiction and mystery novels, Don launched in 1969 the phenomenal Mack Bolan: The Executioner, which quickly emerged as the original, definitive Action/Adventure series. His successful paperback books inspired a new particularly American literary genre during the early 1970's, and Don became known as "the father of action/adventure."
"Although The Executioner Series is far and away my most significant contribution to world literature, I still do not perceive myself as 'belonging' to any particular literary niche. I am simply a storyteller, an entertainer who hopes to enthrall with visions of the reader's own incipient greatness."
Don Pendleton's original Executioner Series are now in ebooks, published by Open Road Media. 37 of the original novels.
All out balls to the wall Mack Bolan action right here! From the shocking opening scene through to the end the suspense doesn’t let up. Mack with help from members of Phoenix Force and Able Team once again save the country. In sept of 2000 when it was first published it probably seemed far fetched that FEMA could be using school shootings to try and destroy the 2nd amendment. A secret shadowy group hidden within our government trying to suspend the constitution so they could gain control? Looking at current headlines it seems eerily predictive.
This was a very quick read, having gone through most of the book while waiting for my car to be worked on. The story is pretty straightforward, Mack Bolan is contacted by a Senator who potentially stands in the way of legislation that could take away gun rights. The Senator, named Joe Mannix (yes, like the tv detective), is the target of a vast clandestine organization that emerged from the ruins of Nazi Germany. Bolan and his compatriots at Stony Man must protect the Senator and stop the modern day Nazis from seizing control of the country through a compromised FEMA.
Definitely recommended to keep the reader entertained as Bolan pulls off his usual heroics in saving the day. I did find it interesting that this was published before 9/11, foreshadowing the later conspiracy theories about FEMA and their preparation for internment camps for those deemed a danger to the New World Order.
