I’m an award winning author who loves to write scorching hot contemporary and science fiction romance—stories I love to read. I love working from home, where my office window looks out over our ‘block’ of fourteen acres with gorgeous mountain views. After enjoying a stint as a foster carer for cats, I now have seven felines to entertain me, along with two dogs and two horses. But only when I’m not distracted by my three gorgeous daughters, one of whom—a teenager *shriek*—is still living at home. As for my husband…he’s still waiting for retirement.

So this is Pretty Woman in red and it's a lovely sweet read but....
I hate that there's just about always a but (more on this later)
Kate Matthews had an awful childhood she was bullied at school and had issues at home (these reveal themselves throughout book so no spoilers from me) she has only bad memories and those memories alone make her insecurities return.
She's reinvented herself as Brandy the high class call girl, she's beautiful, fit and polished, she has a select number of clients, she's booked up months in advance and she earns a really good money. Brandy likes sex (which is always a plus in her profession) and she's convinced herself she's got everything she needs, soon she'll be able to retire and be set for life.
Blaine is a billionaire he's also young, handsome and incredibly fit and he knows the moment he sees Brandy she was going to be his, well his for the night anyway. He does his homework and discovers her name and profession and booked her and he's never looked back. Originally he thought he'd quickly get her out of his system but that hasn't worked, the more time he spends with her the more he wants her.
So it's all worked out so well, Blaine wants to keep Brandy and this but be a dream have come true for her and so they live happily ever after?.......well not quite.
If Brandy's childhood taught her anything it's that looks matter and you're nothing once they've gone, while she knows Blaine wants her she also knows he'd soon get fed up and move on. So regardless of how much she wants him she's got to keep her head in the game and disregard her heart.
Now for the but.
I'm all about the romance. I don't care if a guy's been a manwhore or even if, like in this case the woman has been a prostitute it's all about the romance and as soon as they realise it's love everyone else blurbs away.
Now that doesn't happen in this case. He wants her but she's still working and therefore still having sex with other men and this is the part I struggled with.
I couldn't imagine that a man like Blaine would be ok with sharing her once he'd realised she was the one.
Despite that this is a nice enjoyable read, it's idealistic and sweet for example all the call girls are best friends there's no nastiness or anything.
Will I read the next book High Class?
Yes I will even though it will come with the same problem I can't wait.

Minor spoilers!!!

This is the story of Kate and Blaine, a call girl and a billionaire.

The story started nicely with Kate and Blaine having a "work" appointment. The sex scenes were quite nice, I need to confess. The issue for me with this book was the set up of the story. Blaine is in-love with Kate but they never had an actual date. They met through her job which is to be his fantasy and he firstly saw her when she was with another client of hers. Then Kate likes Blaine but she doesn't want to give up her career as a call girl, her independence. So, none of them convince me that they had true feelings for each other, that they actually had a connection outside of their sexual connection. Of course I believe that a call-girl may fall in love with a customer of hers and vice versa but I couldn't believe in this book. There are more examples to support my thoughts but I don't want to spoil it for anyone else.

I think the idea of the plot was good but the set up was lacking strength.

In Lady in Red by Mel Teschco, the characters pulled me in to a believable plot. I felt like I got to know Kate, and I really felt for her. How she has moved forward in her life is different, but it's what works for her. Or so she tells herself, but does it really? She finally feels valued and desirable in life, but is the temporary nature of it enough? Secretly she craves more, but is afraid to let herself hope or trust. Mel Teshco writes Kate's character well, and I felt like she was well defined because we knew her past and her present...her future is the question. I liked Kate, and even though I found her a bit frustrating at times, I could understand her.

Blaine has wanted Kate from the moment he laid eyes on her...and not just in the context of her job. He really pursues her. It had the potential to be stalkerish, but both of these characters had feelings for each other, so it really wasn't. I like how he sees so much more in Kate than she sees in herself, and I like how the issue of her job is there but it's not the big issue. How Kate and Blaine come together is unique...but how will they end up?

I liked how Mel wrote Lady in Red. There are sex scenes, but not over the top, and they are completely relevant to the plot line in many ways. The secondary characters are interesting, and I liked how Blaine's mother was brought into the story.

The pace of Lady in Red has good flow to it, and it was easy to keep reading as Kate tried to overcome the obstacles blocking her future. A steamy, emotional read, I'd recommend Lady in Red to any romance reader.

I received a free copy for an honest review.

Kate has become a call girl who goes by Brandy and one of her clients, Blaine is rich, dark and good looking has fallen in love with her, she has plenty of feelings for him to, but thinks her life and her work need to stay as they are.
The story follows some twists and turns as Blaine works at convincing Kate they could make a life as a couple.
As you might guess its a hot and steamy read, but its not a cliff hanger.

Kate and Blain get 3.5 Stars (4 on a good day)

The idea behind the story was great and something I had not heard before. The plot is so realistic in the aspect that, if both would have communicated better with each other, they could have been happy a lot sooner.
I liked that we could see the important thoughts from both Characters. That helped to understand, what they where thinking.
My personal dilemma is, that this story has so much potential with her backstory, her current job and the media etc. But we get nearly nothing of it. They meet up, have fun with each other, talk a little bit, she is insecure and he is jealous. That’s all I really got from the story in the end. And when I am talking about endings. This one is much to fast. There is no development she just simply changes her mind in the middle of her job.
But even with the many unused plotlines is this a very decent book that I had a lot of fun reading.

SPOILERS THROUGHOUT:
This book was okay. There was nothing wrong with it per se; there just wasn't anything special about it. There was no reason for me to give it a higher rating because there was nothing that drew me in.
While I liked Kate/Brandy, she was a little annoying. I understand that her past would cause her to have trust issues and struggle with commitment, but Kate wouldn't even consider that Blaine wanted her for something other than being his mistress. It took too long for her to come to her senses in my opinion and I felt like the story was dragged out longer than necessary.

Short and sweet

Fairly interesting story of Escort Kate aka Brandy and Billionaire Blaine who wants her for her. He sees beneath the beautiful exterior to the beautiful soul she is hiding beneath. Kate’s background is one of fear and bullying and the story tells how she parlays it into the confident escort who has become financially independent because of it. Again the ending is abrupt and left me the reader wondering and with lots of questions hence the 3 Stars. The bonus book too is short and sweet again with a quick ending leaving me with too many questions.

2 good reads

Lady in Red was the first read. Short, a couple of intimate scenes that weren't over the top. Touched on "Bullying". I appreciate when and author can incorporate a tough topic into a decent story. Second story touched on abuse within a marriage. Sad but true! Overall stories were well written, but endings felt rushed. Short stories hardly ever feel like they are developed enough. No cliffhanger s and you get a happy ending. Enjoy

It's really not bad. The smutty bits are well written, the plot is a little predictable, but still exactly what I wanted when I started this book. I wanted a light, predictable, love story with some good smut and that's precisely what this book is. The only real thing about this book that I haven't read about before is that the protagonist is a prostitute, which is what piqued my interest.

If you're into romance with good smut and a little predictability (in terms of a happy ending), then by all means give this one a read.

Uh... wtf happened to this book?

Mel Tescho, were you physically forced to wrap up your book as fast as possible and you decided to do it in one chapter? That last chapter was such a whirlwind of flip flopping of your characters motivations and emotions I wasn't sure I was reading the same book.

Life choices.

Not a bad book dealing with a woman who works as a high end call girl and the client she falls in love with. Kate has reasons for entering the profession she’s chosen, and Blaine is the man who wants to take her away from that life. A bit repetitive at times, but an easy, quick read.

I just wanted to yell at Brandy/Kate to run the whole book. Blaine was an obsessive stalker. I can get behind most books where there is that instant attraction and need and stuff. But this was the first one where I could not. Easy read. Ridiculous.

Short, short, short story.
It was well written but excessively short. I'm not a fan of short stories. I would not have gotten the book had I realized that this story was only half the book. Disappointing!

Unbelievably trite. High end call girl Kate (Brandy) falls in love with her client, Blaine, and vice versa.
He has no qualms about entering into a permanent relationship and pushed an introduction to his mother.

No real backstory. Little pace. Unbelievable "Pretty Woman-ish" storyline.

Lady in Red

126 pages of good reading. No fluff to make the story longer. I would have given it 5 stars but I really didn’t feel a connection between Kate and Blaine other than in the bedroom.

Somewhat lackluster novella/short story about, yes, a prostitute and a billionaire. It goes how you think it would. Not especially sexy either.

I enjoyed this. It was a change to read Australian English instead of American and that was a pleasure, though not perfect of course I thought the end was a bit abrupt but thoroughly enjoyed the journey to get there and the erotic passages were for me enjoyable

Meh...

15 Chapters of the same whiplash.
Like pretty woman just high class escort.
This book reminds of Katy Perry's song: you're hot then you're cold. Not my cup of tea.
